Everything here is homemade, which is rare to come across these days. The complimentary chips with two salsas, tomatillo and pico de gallo, are one of my favorite parts of the meal. The guacamole is clearly homemade and chunky, very pure and no frills, though it was a bit flat for my personal taste. The steak fajita was a little different from what I'm used to. The meat was more like stir fry-style beef rather than traditional sliced steak, but for the price and portion, I really can't complain. The tortillas are fresh, which makes a big difference. The albondigas soup was delicious. The broth is thick, tomato forward, savory, and very comforting. It tastes like a classic, traditional albondigas soup done right. Service here is incredible. It truly feels like a family owned place based on how they treat their customers. This place also had a revamp and is very clean inside. We always love coming here for an authentic Mexican meal, and today we were pleasantly surprised by the recent remodeling. The updated atmosphere feels even more welcoming, yet they've kept the traditional menu we know and love. They've also introduced weekly specials, which gives us even more reason to return and try something new. The new owner was incredibly kind, and the entire team made us feel right at home, especially Maira, our wonderful waitress who has been here for years. Her warm smile and thoughtful recommendations always elevate our experience. Today we tried the salmon from the weekly specials and the chicken taquitos, paired with non-alcoholic passion fruit and hibiscus drinks. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. We wanted to try a new spot for date night. Casa Lupe in Mountain View is an incredible date night spot with food that did not disappoint. The chile colorado is rich and flavorful, the chile relleno is perfectly done, and the enchiladas rojas are a must-try. Whatever you order, make sure you save room for dessert--their churros are truly the best I've ever had! The staff is warm, friendly, and extremely attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. Casa Lupe has been a beloved local restaurant for 27 years, and with the new owner taking over this past July, it feels refreshed while still keeping all the charm people love. This is a small-scale Mexican restaurant I'd previously ignored - there are other fine Mexican places in the area - but in search of a hasty dinner before a play at the MV CPA, it looked appealing. What looked most appealing was a simple combination dinner (i.e. with rice and beans) with the entree of a pork tamale. I like tamales, but they're often not found in regular Mexican restaurants. And they're sometimes not very good tamales. This, however, was a tamale excellent in a way I hadn't seen before. The masa, far from being dry or tasteless, was smooth and almost creamy soft, easy to eat and mixing well with the meat. That's new in my experience and quite appetizing. Rice and beans pretty good, too. So much cheese on the beans that some bites were more cheese than beans. A little salad also appreciated. Fine service, also. I especially was pleased they kept my water glass filled. Despite the location, it wasn't filled with other pre-theater diners. It seemed to be starting to fill up about 7 pm when I left. read more

One of my fave restaurants whenever I'm in the mood for cheese enchiladas with red sauce. It's so simple yet delicious. They bring you 2 types of salsa (1 red salsa that has a nice kick & great flavor while the other is a bit chunky & not spicy at all) with warm tortilla chips - so good, I think we got a couple refills. They have a big menu but again my go-to are the cheese enchiladas. I did get 1 cheese & 1 chicken recently which was a nice mix. Chicken is somewhat moist & is shredded. I have been coming to Casa Lupe, at least once per week for the past few months; but, I had no idea at all that they were remodeling the restaurant. Gone is the festive and colorful decor, along with it the atmosphere and ambience. But, the restaurant is much brighter and looks more open. Most importantly, it is the same delicious food that, if you have been coming for any amount of time, have always loved and enjoyed. While driving by Mountain View my mom announced that she had a sudden craving for Mexican food. We stopped into Casa Lupe hoping to satisfy her craving. The restaurant is colorful and cozy on the inside, with tables both inside and out. It was lunchtime on a Monday and the restaurant was nearly full, but luckily we were able to get one of the few remaining tables. Their menu is extensive, including the usual Enchiladas, Burritos, Quesadillas, Tacos, etc., along with every type of combination plate you can imagine with different options for protein or vegetables. We were warmly greeted by our server and were immediately given chips and salsa, along with water. Our order: Quesadilla (ground beef) for Mom, and the Enchilada California (flour tortilla, red sauce, cheese, sour cream, guac) for me. The Enchiladas were very good, and Mom said the Quesadilla completely satisfied her craving (and hey, if you make Mom happy it's a good day). Portions were large, giving us both leftovers. The chips, unfortunately, were unseasoned and somewhat bland. And when our meal was complete it was difficult to find a server to get our check. We started coming here during the Mountain View Art & wine festivals for lunch and have been back for over 10 years plus some weekends for lunch or dinner. The enchilada's rice and beans are excellent as well as the margaritas! The owners and staff provide excellent service and quality of food has always been excellent every time we go. This restaurant is so comically expensive that it borders on surreal. Four burritos rang up to $90 including tax and tip, or roughly $22 per burrito. Going rate in this area would be $12 or so. I like to visit the casto street for dinner since it is a nice place with bunch of options. Most of the restaurants here have an outdoor seating as well, not this one. The food at Casa Lupe was mediocre at best. It was not bad but it definitely lacked the taqueria taste. I had tacos which were dry and lacked stuffing. It does come with beans and salad on side but I usually don't like that anyways. The service was off in the beginning and good at the end which made me think if that was just an act for the tips. Casa Lupe was one of the few that stayed open on New Year's Eve, so we ordered dinner pickup. During pickup the staff asked us to sign the receipt with a pen, which was quite weird during COVID =( . We ordered 20. Enchiladas en Mole with beans, 31. Carne Asada, and Guacamole family size with chips. All the entrees were securely packaged in large foil containers. The family sized Guac was 10+ oz and they gave us plenty of chips. Everything was delicious. The mole sauce was very interesting, full of chocolate aroma (my first bite of enchiladas en mole); the guac was fresh and savory (less chunky than my preference); the complimentary salsas were great (and very hot); all the sides in the Carne Asada were delicious especially the beans. However, the steak was overcooked thus dry - my teeth worked real hard to dissect the meat fiber. It is located about one block off the main restaurant drag but is well worth finding. While they had a nice little dining room with a dozen or so tables, we ate outside in a covered corridor between it and the building next door...nice area and ambiance. Our table of five pretty much tried one of everything and the choices were routinely excellent. My fav was the tostada...a crispy tortilla piled high with refried beans, chicken, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, etc. It was piled so high that it was not a dish you could pick up. Delish. Make the effort to find this little Mexican place. This little place puts out big food, and it will surprise you...give it a try. read more
