My absolute favorite restaurant in all of Mountain View!! The staff are so kind and friendly and the Mexican food is outstanding. Cannot recommend more highly!

Salmon and salsa crema from weekly specials

We always love coming here for an authentic Mexican meal, and today we were pleasantly surprised by the recent remodeling. The updated atmosphere feels even more welcoming, yet they've kept the traditional menu we know and love. They've also introduced weekly specials, which gives us even more reason to return and try something new. The new owner was incredibly kind, and the entire team made us feel right at home, especially Maira, our wonderful waitress who has been here for years. Her warm smile and thoughtful recommendations always elevate our experience. Today we tried the salmon from the weekly specials and the chicken taquitos, paired with non-alcoholic passion fruit and hibiscus drinks. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. And we couldn't leave without dessert--the Flan Napolitano was absolutely divine, truly one of the best things I've had lately. It's so nice to see how positive change can make something we already loved even better. Highly recommend this gem!

Friendly staff, nice ambiente, good food one block away from the main restaurant strip on Castro Street in Mountain View. My preferred choice among the other nearby Mexican options.

Tri-coloe enchiladas and a chili Verde burrito. Plus the special Black Cherry margarita

We stopped here before a show at the Center for Performing Arts. They seated us right away and the staff was very attentive and friendly. They had Spanish music being played - on a harp! - which was interesting and not as overbearing as mariachi. It was nice that they had both indoor and outdoor seating. I got the Chili Verde burrito, which was large and very good. I had plenty to take home for lunch. My husband got the triple enchilada plate, which he finished off, so it must have been good as well. The two entrees with two of the special black cherry margaritas came to about $80, which honestly is pretty par for a dinner out these days.

Perfect combo! Chavelas are bomb! Try the nachos! They are authentic and so flavorful!! Service was excellent!

Parking: as others mention, there are only 2 spaces in front on San Antonio Road, I didn't know they had a back lot. It's on the same block as Chef Chu. Luckily there wasn't much traffic so I was able to back in which made leaving easy. Ambiance: nice. It was a bit warm waiting for my takeout order, they had the front door open. They also have a nice outdoor covered patio eating area in front, see the photo. Service: when I entered there were no other customers, only a bartender who didn't acknowledge me. I was about to yell out but Mariana (the name on my receipt) appeared and took my order. Food: Chile Relleno plate w black beans, rice, a small bag of fresh tortilla chips, and two kinds of mildly spicy salsa. The Poblano pepper was stuffed w cheese and had a tasty egg batter, covered w a red salsa like sauce. It was quickly devoured! Price: $17 + $1.55 tax + tip. Chile Relleno by itself is $10 I think. I would return to try other items. I had a hankering for a good Chile Relleno and was satisfied!

The restaurant is well decorated, feels lively, and is very dark. Maybe a bit too dark - we had to use our flashlight on our phone just to read the menu. We ordered a few items: - Guacamole 3.5/5 , tasted fresh but needs salt. - Ceviche 3/5 , A bit on the sweeter side than we would like - Verde Carne Asada Burrito meal: 4/5, pretty solid actually just wish the portion was a bit bigger for $24 - Steak Fajitas.... 1/5. My mother usually orders fajitas when we go out to eat at mexican restaurant, but we did not see it on the menu, so we asked the server if they had it and he said yes! Now we know why it's probably not on the menu... The meat was SUPER oily, I mean like drenched in oil, if you put a flashlight on the dish, you will quite literally see a puddle of oil at the bottom of the bowl. Second, the meat is very very tough and dry, similar to some meat you would reheat in the microwave after leaving it in the fridge for a few days. This dish is literally unacceptable and the worst part is the fact it costs $29. DO NOT ORDER THIS. Since, this was a dinner for an early mother's day. We did not want to cause any complaint or trouble to the restaurant as it was super packed. We just won't be coming back here anymore. The server himself was friendly, but man did the service suck. We had to flag down someone every time to bring water, chips, and the check. There was no staff check in ever. In fact, they actually lost my credit card and we were waiting around 10- 15 minutes to just get our check back. Everything took forever and the service was super slow. It was a lot of sitting and waiting for each thing. Losing my credit card and having us wait 10-15 minutes to get it back is unacceptable for a professional restaurant that is not on the lower end of things either.

Generally in SoCal we don't put pico de gallo on ours. Although this did not taste like the SoCal kind(that classic so heavy and rich heart attack flavor), it was still awesome. It had all the otherwise same ingredients, slightly less cheese but a more good quality type of cheese, but still was missing the heart attack flavor. The flavor was still with the same depth, just not heavy/greasy sensation on the stomach and taste buds. I think its because as I noted everything is literally made same day and even the fries they do fresh. The carnitas were also very juicy and overall the portion for everything was very large.
