    Sabana Invierno

I ordered the sabana invierno, which the waiter recommended, and it ended up being a great choice. The flavors were really good and the portion size was huge -- I had enough leftovers for another full meal the next day. Definitely good value for what you get. The lighting inside is quite nice, seems a little more date-like but I also saw large groups. The restaurant was very lively on a Saturday for dinner. Would come back and try more of the menu.

Our family visits Vive Sol frequently and we always have a great time. Their pricing is comparable to most restaurants, averaging around $30 per plate, but their portion sizes are absolutely massive. Weve tried so many different meals and they're always a hit. In our most recent visit we had: Nachos with pork - we split this with our two little kids and we were practically stuffed before our mains arrived Sabana Invierno - lots of meat and the chorizo was a nice touch Camarones Cilantro - my husband gets this every time; grid and true favourite Milanesa - the perfect meal for our little ones. This is easily 3-4 portions for 2 little kids Service was A+ as usual, and the restaurant was lively on a Sunday evening. We'll be back again soon!

I went on a date to Vive Sol tonight and it was great! The inside is very cute and great for a date night. They have a large menu with many delicious menu items, including lots of varieties of enchiladas and burritos. We started with the chips, salsa, and guacamole which were all very tasty. The guacamole was a little bland for my liking, but still very fresh. I had the combination plate with the quesadilla and the guajillo enchilada, and my date has the combination with guajillo enchilada and chile relleno. We both enjoyed our food. I probably wouldn't get the quesadilla again though just because it was just a small tortilla with cheese, without seasoning or meat. Our waiter came by often to refill our drinks and check on us, and everyone who worked there was very nice! They have parking in both the front and back of the restaurant. I'll definitely return for another meal at Vive Sol!

Vive Sol famous for their beautiful ambiance and Mexican food. I ordered Enchiladas Al Chipotle and Ensalada Mixta from their menu. They have pretty good service and enough sitting area.

This restaurant has been around forever but we've never had a chance to try it. My fiancé wanted Mexican so came here tonight to give it a try. We started with the guacamole and they brought 3 salsas. My fiancé likes all the salsas, a bit spicy. I thought they were a bit vinegary . Guacamole is a generous portion with chopped tomatos on top. Very good consistency but I thought could use a pinch of salt. I ordered the combo plate of chili relleno and beef tostada. Chlli relleno cake with a very tasty sauce. Tostada was good with q slice of tender beef. My fiancé ordered beef enchilada al chipotle and loved it! He said the sauce was unique -- smoky, spicy , and very tasty. It's a bit pricey for Mexican food but it was very good. Wait staff was also very friendly. I can see why this place is so popular.

I've been here a couple times and it has been so good every time! I keep forgetting about it when I'm in town, but I'm glad I came tonight. The chorizo and frijole appetizer is excellent. The shrimp el diablo is a must try.

Pathetic food , rude staff . To begin with my daughter I went to the restroom before being seated . So my husband was waiting to be seated. They were not ready to let my husband sit at table as we were in the restroom . So Many requests , but the lady didn't budge . Ok once we seated . We ordered burritos , enchiladas and chalupa. The chalupa literally stuck to the plate . It felt ewww to eat them. The rice is the burrito so dry . Must be yesterday's , the enchilada had such a sweet sauce on it . It was so bad . We basically didn't eat more than 2 bites . Never coming here , not worth it , such rude people around ! There are so many good Mexican restaurants at San Jose .

Is there any plan to re-open for lunch hours anytime soon?

Does anyone know if they are taking takeout orders right now? No answer when I call.

I'm not sure. But I do know during normal times they work from like 5pm-10pm so depending on when you called they could be closed for their normal siesta.

Info section says they don't deliver, but there's an "order delivery" button right next to the "no." It also says they do takeout, but there's no "order takeout" button. Do they deliver or not, and do they do takeout or not?

GrubHub will do "unofficial" delivery meaning they will literally send a driver there to order, wait, pickup and deliver your food. Not a good experience though. Recommend you just call directly for takeout.

    Do they deliver?

No, but I think you can get delivery through third party stuff like GrubHub, because they used to do takeout (and hopefully still do).

Chevy's could never! LOL. The shrimp ceviche was fresh; however, we wished it had more of the citrusy juice and was a bit dry. The cubed mangoes were a nice fresh addition to the ceviche. SERVICE: 10/10 The nicest staff to stumble upon. We were helped by 3 different people, and each of them was so kind and attentive. AMBIANCE: 10/10 Their ambiance is everything, whether it is inside or outside. Outside, there is a lot of nice seating to enjoy the weather. I can only imagine how it looks at night with the twinkle lights on. Inside was so beautiful and eye-catching. There was color everywhere, and I truly loved their rainbow-pattern theme, papel-picados and mariposas displayed all throughout the restaurant. The mixed colors and patterns of chairs per table were beautiful. Their bar area looked so cute and fun to be at. They definitely had so many different types of tequila brands displayed, which makes sense, but I thought it was nice. Parking was fine, thankfully, but it was very small. I wonder how it would be at night or when it gets packed. Overall, this is a great place to stop by!

Very solid taqueria featuring some of the best pupusas in the area…read more Today I had a pupusa revuelta (cheese, chicharrón, and beans) and another with carne asada and cheese. Both are hand-made to order with fresh masa and come out so hot you're gonna want to let them sit for a minute before digging in, if you can restrain yourself. The revuelta pupusa has a soft and flavorful filling that comes together kind of like cheesy frijoles charros. It's kind of the classic pupusa filling and I think for good reason. The smooth and well-mixed filling ensure every bite has masa, each element of the filling, and ideally a healthy pile of curtido and salsa. The asada pupusa is a little bit more of a novelty, but the asada itself is solid and I like the variety of having different feelings to work with. If this is your first time here, I recommend going with the asada. My only critique of these pupusas, which is a critique of pupusas I have in general, is that they could use a little more filling, particularly around the edges where the bites can be kind of masa heavy. Pro tips: they just got kiosks for ordering and you won't see a pupusa with asada on there as an option, but you can do so if you order at the register. By default, pupusas come with a traditional thin tomato sauce that isn't spicy, but I always ask them for the salsa they bring out when you get chips instead. It's chunkier, spicier, and slightly more acidic and I think it pairs better with the pupusas. I ask for this and plenty of curtido when I order takeout from here.

Lots of the complaints were about timely-ness, and I say to those people, relax. Everybody was working super hard and fast, and it is just really busy at lunch. It takes a little time to get your food, but it was absolutely worth it. these might be the best pupusas I've ever had. They brought out three salsas for us, and I was partial to the green. The pupusas were chock full of cheese and chicharron to the rims. Fried perfectly. The carnitas taco was amazing! The pork was so crispy and delicious. As to the service, ours was great. The tables were all full, but a couple of guys said we could sit at their table because they had two empty seats. Thank you! A young person with bleached hair wearing a baseball cap (sorry I should've asked your name) was really attentive. He cleaned our table and brought us ice water. I can't wait to go back! I will be getting more pupusas, and my mom wants all carnitas tacos all day.
