Guacamole, chips, salsa, Enchiladas Al Guajillo, Quesadilla, Chile Relleno

I went on a date to Vive Sol tonight and it was great! The inside is very cute and great for a date night. They have a large menu with many delicious menu items, including lots of varieties of enchiladas and burritos. We started with the chips, salsa, and guacamole which were all very tasty. The guacamole was a little bland for my liking, but still very fresh. I had the combination plate with the quesadilla and the guajillo enchilada, and my date has the combination with guajillo enchilada and chile relleno. We both enjoyed our food. I probably wouldn't get the quesadilla again though just because it was just a small tortilla with cheese, without seasoning or meat. Our waiter came by often to refill our drinks and check on us, and everyone who worked there was very nice! They have parking in both the front and back of the restaurant. I'll definitely return for another meal at Vive Sol!

Enchiladas Al Chipotle

Vive Sol famous for their beautiful ambiance and Mexican food. I ordered Enchiladas Al Chipotle and Ensalada Mixta from their menu. They have pretty good service and enough sitting area.

I've been here a couple times and it has been so good every time! I keep forgetting about it when I'm in town, but I'm glad I came tonight. The chorizo and frijole appetizer is excellent. The shrimp el diablo is a must try.

Chile Relleno and Tostada beef

This restaurant has been around forever but we've never had a chance to try it. My fiancé wanted Mexican so came here tonight to give it a try. We started with the guacamole and they brought 3 salsas. My fiancé likes all the salsas, a bit spicy. I thought they were a bit vinegary . Guacamole is a generous portion with chopped tomatos on top. Very good consistency but I thought could use a pinch of salt. I ordered the combo plate of chili relleno and beef tostada. Chlli relleno cake with a very tasty sauce. Tostada was good with q slice of tender beef. My fiancé ordered beef enchilada al chipotle and loved it! He said the sauce was unique -- smoky, spicy , and very tasty. It's a bit pricey for Mexican food but it was very good. Wait staff was also very friendly. I can see why this place is so popular.

Chalupa !!!

Pathetic food , rude staff . To begin with my daughter I went to the restroom before being seated . So my husband was waiting to be seated. They were not ready to let my husband sit at table as we were in the restroom . So Many requests , but the lady didn't budge . Ok once we seated . We ordered burritos , enchiladas and chalupa. The chalupa literally stuck to the plate . It felt ewww to eat them. The rice is the burrito so dry . Must be yesterday's , the enchilada had such a sweet sauce on it . It was so bad . We basically didn't eat more than 2 bites . Never coming here , not worth it , such rude people around ! There are so many good Mexican restaurants at San Jose .

EVERYTHING Was bland - zero flavor. The guacamole did not have salt or lime. The fish tacos were just terrible. The rice had no flavor. I ordered champagne - mumm and it was old. The totally bill was $210 for 4 adults, 1 child. I swear Yelp is your best search engine and terrible at the same time, because I don't know how they have 4 stars. The ambience is nice.

Whenever I come and visit my family in Mountain View, I always request this place. My family introduced me to mole about 10 years ago when I first visited them in California. Now, this is what I will only order when I get Mexican: Mole poblano. The restaurant is family friendly with home cooked Mexican meals. It is always very packed so it's always best to book reservations in advance. Will always come back here to satisfy my mole cravings!

Love the kinda cozy ambience

Vegetarian/vegan reviewer: Came here alone on a day when I thought my world was falling apart. I am glad I did coz at least the food made me think otherwise. Lol. Jokes apart - I really liked what I'd ordered(pictured) - Enfrijodalas and can't wait to go try their burrito. The chips were perfect with 3 different salsas too(my favorite is the green salsa). I am glad I finally tried this restaurant. The service is pretty good too - they neatly boxed the left over for me coz no way can one person finish the entire dish by themselves with the chips. Go try it and trust me you won't get disappointed. Also, the ambience is pretty nice - cozy and warm- they do have some outside seating as well - which might be great when it's dark(you'll know what I mean if you go there)

Food is always great. Drinks are awesome. Not crazy expensive. Great service too. Parking is a pain when the lot is full.

Great appetizers, margaritas, and mole. I'm planning on going again and again. Each dish was fully flavored and different.

Is there any plan to re-open for lunch hours anytime soon?

Does anyone know if they are taking takeout orders right now? No answer when I call.

I'm not sure. But I do know during normal times they work from like 5pm-10pm so depending on when you called they could be closed for their normal siesta.

Info section says they don't deliver, but there's an "order delivery" button right next to the "no." It also says they do takeout, but there's no "order takeout" button. Do they deliver or not, and do they do takeout or not?

GrubHub will do "unofficial" delivery meaning they will literally send a driver there to order, wait, pickup and deliver your food. Not a good experience though. Recommend you just call directly for takeout.

Do they deliver?

No, but I think you can get delivery through third party stuff like GrubHub, because they used to do takeout (and hopefully still do).

Chile Relleno! I…read morecame here for takeout at about 2 pm, since the nearby La Salsa has closed and I Yelped a few places. Parking: as others mention, there are only 2 spaces in front on San Antonio Road, I didn't know they had a back lot. It's on the same block as Chef Chu. Luckily there wasn't much traffic so I was able to back in which made leaving easy. Ambiance: nice. It was a bit warm waiting for my takeout order, they had the front door open. They also have a nice outdoor covered patio eating area in front, see the photo. Service: when I entered there were no other customers, only a bartender who didn't acknowledge me. I was about to yell out but Mariana (the name on my receipt) appeared and took my order. Food: Chile Relleno plate w black beans, rice, a small bag of fresh tortilla chips, and two kinds of mildly spicy salsa. The Poblano pepper was stuffed w cheese and had a tasty egg batter, covered w a red salsa like sauce. It was quickly devoured! Price: $17 + $1.55 tax + tip. Chile Relleno by itself is $10 I think. I would return to try other items. I had a hankering for a good Chile Relleno and was satisfied!

Extensive cocktail menu with lots of different kinds of margaritas. Love that the chips and salsa arrives shortly after you sit. We ordered: Taco Salad with carnitas - good amount of salad. Lots of cheese and toppings but not a lot of carnitas. I wish the carnitas had more flavor. Cochinita Pibil - Beautifully plated but lacked flavor. Combination plate with chicken pastor taco and a tamal - hubby gives it 4 stars.

There's a small self-serve salsa station. The green sauce had the perfect taste without being too spicy. We tried the carne asada and the tripas. Tripas were perfectly crunchy (we made a point to ask for extra crispy). We also had a quesadilla, nothing to write home about, but the portion was very generous! The agua Fresca was also so good and not sweet. Service was fast and friendly. We came in on what seemed like downtime, so not sure how fast they operate when its bus.

I was disappointed that they were out of lengua since I'm not typically a fan of the other meats. The times I've had asada, it's usually dry, but I ordered it anyway not knowing what else to get and holy smokes was it good! It was so tender and flavorful that it changed my entire opinion of asada. It's really that good! Their chips were crispy and not stale and I just love their self serve salsas. It's usually a hit or miss at Mexican Restaurants, but it's great here! Unfortunately, it seemed like the employee did not want to be there and I felt a bit uncomfortable but the food well makes up for it.

The only option was shredded chicken which looked VERY dry and with no flavor. When you walk in its hard to distinguish where to order from considering your typical menu is NOT where it should be. The ladies are hard at work and it took some time to even notice someone wanting to order. She was rude to tell me thats it coming when the other worker asked to confirm my order number. I have to say the burrito took FOREVER to make. I also noticed they use the same spatula to stir different meats on the grill. A huge red flag if you do not eat beef!! ALSO the lady who took my order didnt wear gloves to grab the burrito off the grill. I don't know it this is normal but the menu doesnt show the prices of the items on the big board which can really throw you off on what you want vs what you can honestly afford. Not for me personal but to those who are being mindful of what to order. The previous reviews don't lie. Would I come back here again? Absolutely not!

But now their burrito cost have gone up to $15 but the taste has declined which is a bummer I have tried their papusas as well, and those are okay. I would get their shrink burrito, or their carne burrito; both of those I loved before. Their customer service is okay, they are more of a serve yourself type of place - nothing wrong with that. I just wish the flavor was the same and they cooked their carne more and didn't leave it grizzly (where it's chewy, which used to not be a problem)

Review of the items I got: -Asada Fries: was hoping to get something similar to what I'm used to in SoCal. I got mine with Carnitas and no pics de gallo. Generally in SoCal we don't put pico de gallo on ours. Although this did not taste like the SoCal kind(that classic so heavy and rich heart attack flavor), it was still awesome. It had all the otherwise same ingredients, slightly less cheese but a more good quality type of cheese, but still was missing the heart attack flavor. The flavor was still with the same depth, just not heavy/greasy sensation on the stomach and taste buds. I think its because as I noted everything is literally made same day and even the fries they do fresh. The carnitas were also very juicy and overall the portion for everything was very large. I will get this again def. -birria taco: i like that they dont overcharge on these and again the fresh aspect is really good. -flan: better than most I've had.
