I'm blessed with indulging in taco trucks and The Mission burritos. I was in Mountain View visiting a family member and we decided to go grab some dinner. The service was OUTSTANDING! A young man welcomed us in with beautiful Spanish! He took our order was so patient with our two elderly parents. Food came out quickly but the food...yikes. This was an alright place to grab some Mexican food in downtown Los Altos - I got the carne asada burrito bowl ($12.50) which was a bit skimpy on the portion size. The bowl tasted fine and I enjoyed the amount of fresh tomatoes in the bowl, though it didn't really stand out to me as a dish. It tasted fresher and less fast-food-like than Chipotle, but portions were definitely significantly smaller. Entrees came with chips & salsa and my plate had like a dozen or so chips, but my friend's entree came with literally 4 chips, so she had to go back and ask for more. Given how cheap chips are, seemed a bit off-putting that they would skimp so much on that. On the other hand, the lulu-rita drink was excellent and refreshing and interestingly, was cheaper than my entree. We came for a weekend lunch and it was busy, but still possible to get a table and dine in despite the crowd. Parking can be hit or miss, since you'll need to find street parking or circle the public parking lots -- definitely more difficult during weekends. All in all, the food was decent, but it wouldn't necessarily be at the top of my list to visit again. read more

Horrible customer service I was calling ahead of time to order. they answered and put me on hold than they would just hang up on me, I call two times and both times they just hang up on me. The third time I called I told the lady that they kept hanging up on me and she wants to give me attitude with some excuses that they were extremely busy.. anyway I put my order down and when I got there to pick up my food to my surprise it was completely empty not sure what lady meant when extremely busy when clearly they weren't.. lazy customer service. I highly recommend Lulu's!! The tacos are tasty and spicy, served hot, with a variety of sauces and salsas to personalize the dish and give an extra kick. I ordered street tacos, which are served with a side of radish and lime. The meat of choice is heavily sprinkled with cilantro and finely chopped white onion. The location is in downtown Los Altos, a convenient and cute area decorated with succulents out front of the neighboring shops. I examined the menu and asked for water cups, which the staff promptly filled in advance rather than sending me to a refreshments bar with an empty glass. I sat outdoors to enjoy the weather, and the food was delivered to the table within minutes. The server offered mild red salsa and a spicy salsa verde to compliment our dishes. I tried this Mexican food place actual by accident and very glad I did. This is a solid 5 star , and wish I had taken pictures but was eating in and it was close to closing The service was excellent , the counter help was very friendly and although close to close did not rush me. You order at counter and they have both inside and outside seating that is maintained very well As for food , I got the enchilada plate , chicken with all rice. I have to say it was very fresh. When it came to table ( yep even order at counter they bring it to you ) I could not see the actual meal and thought at first if I had the right order. But yes I did , the meat was very fresh and great proportion , the sauces ( I went green ) was like just made it tasted and the realization I came to is the best 3 enchilada plate you can get , you can't count all three that means it is packed and delicious Place was clean and although did not order any some specialty drinks that in the future will try. A convenient spot in the Los Altos downtown, I stopped here for lunch during the Arts and Wine Festival. I've always been a fan of burritos, so I went with a carne asada and rice one, and loved it! It even came with a side of chips and salsa. The staff were very friendly and the food arrived fast too, which I'm always grateful for. Oh man, Chipotle is better than LuLu's. I ordered the meat enchilada plate with carnitas. It comes with beans, rice, and three enchiladas. You can pick between green or red sauce and I got red sauce. It was slightly spicy and a hint of mole flavor. The beans were plain - take canned beans, boil them in water, and then plate them. The rice was the saving grace - although it looks plain, it was flavorful. The carnitas were dry and old but definitely not justified in the price. Save your money and don't bother getting the plate. Better yet - go to Chipotle and get a better and cheaper meal than LuLu's. read more

In a word Lulus is terrible. We've been regulars for years and over the last 12 months this place has REALLY GONE DOWNHILL. The food is cold, way too salty, not prepared properly. A trainwreck. The only reason it gets one star is because the staff is polite and gracious. We're taking our business to Luna when it opens or anywhere else. Summary: portion/flavor/price combined, this place can't even match Chipotle. For people who want authentic Mexican food in this area, I recommend Los Altos Taqueria or other non-LuLu's restaurants. For those of you who don't care about authenticity, Chipotle's good enough. We wanted to try a new Mexican restaurant and spotted LuLu's on DoorDash. On DD, LuLu's had a high rating of 4.6/5 - that's how we got deceived. TBH, even the 3/5 rating on Yelp was too generous for this place. We got a veggie burrito ($14 on DD) and a small LuLu's Chopped Salad ($11 on DD) with two additions - carne asada (+$2) and grilled vegetables (+$2). Our order was delayed by 30+ minutes because apparently there was a long wait at the restaurant. Now I'm so confused why people would want to waste their precious life waiting to dine here. The $14 veggie burrito was long yet slim, approximately 3/4 the size of a $11.5 Chipotle burrito. I got a bite and it was okay - I can taste all the ingredients but there wasn't much flavor or texture going on. My partner and I used to trash-talk Chipotle, but we both agreed that Chipotle burrito tasted way better, and cheaper. Then the salad - for $15, it's miniature. Describing it as "kid's size" would be an insult to the phrase "kid's size". I'm from Asia, so oftentimes the humongous American portion frightens me. LuLu's seems to hold an even stricter standard than me. Okay, I can eat my salad in moderation. However, portion wasn't the last thing to disappoint me. When I opened the box, the add-ons carne asada and grilled vegetables were nowhere to be found. For the missing carne asada, at least I found some tiny skinny strips of beef after 5 minutes of digging. Fine, I guess I can take that as the carne asada add-on, since it was only +$2. Inflation is bad these days, I understand. I continued my scavenger hunt for the grilled vegetables. This time, no victory at all. The $2 grilled vegetables hid themselves so well that I almost mistook the thin strips of raw bell peppers as "grilled vegetables", until I saw "bell peppers" on the ingredients list for this salad. So yes, I paid $15 for a miniature leafy salad with maybe 1 oz of "carne asada". Oh, and of course, they never gave us salsa or chips with the order, which is fine, not the worst part of our experience. LuLu's, see you never. read more
