Loved that you can order directly from the restaurant for pick up or through any delivery service of your own choosing through their website. Let me tell you about their chicken biscuit. It was lightly battered, crispy, and all chicken. Mine was a spicy chicken so it was powered with ground cayenne pepper. Soooooo good. Chicken meat was moist and tender. I hate how some chicken tenders are not so tender and dried up. Not in this case!!! My chicken biscuit came with two pieces of chicken in a buttery biscuit and a side of roasted red potatoes. It came with two sauces--an aioli and syrup. I used both sparingly. Chicken was good by itself. Will definitely visit and dine in next time! read more

Local restaurant in the downtown Long Beach area. I have driven past this restaurant several times and finally looked at the menu. The first thing that caught my eye was the monte Cristo! I haven't had one of those in a very long time and it sounded like it was going to be amazing. I ordered my breakfast through GrubHub and the experience was simple as normal. However, I was not pleased with my food. I didn't like the taste of the sandwich, but more than ever what bothers me is that the sandwich with soggy. And it wasn't soggy from the cheese it was more from the batter not being cooked all the way through. Restaurant is on a corner and they have outdoor seating. The corner is pretty busy, but they have a nice layout. Customer service was good. I might come back and try other items, but was impressed with my first food experience. read more

So this amazing small business is literally up the street from my house & of all the 3 years I've been living in downtown Long Beach, I've never noticed it until my former coworker informed me about them. The chicken and waffles sammich was fire! The chicken had a nice crispy coating & the waffles were fluffy and fresh as well as the potatoes. I was too hungry to take pictures which is not very common of me, but I just had to share my review because I will for sure be returning to try out the other menu items. Really wanted to like this place as the staff were extremely friendly. Unfortunately, they are understaffed and the over 45 minute wait for food was just not worth it. The very popular chicken and waffles was simply put, terrible. One might expect that after such a long wait that the chicken would be piping hot and crispy. It was neither. The chicken pieces were luke warm and dry. One might think that the waffles would save the dish, but sadly, the waffles were tough, chewy and rubbery. This place is such a great find! Just moved into an apartment on Pine/3rd, so Arize is only a small walk away. We came in to order and had amazing service when placing our order and being served our food. It's a very cute and cozy bistro on the outside and inside. The owners are super nice! Food: We got the French toast, Monte Cristo, and Spinach Omelette. All were sooooo good. The French toast is so fluffy and a good portion. The Monte Cristo was the perfect taste of sweet and savory. This place is kind of a fast, casual set up where you order at a counter, grab a seat, and the food gets brought out to you. The weather was pretty nice so we sat outside on the patio where there were a few tables. We tried the Hot Asian omelet and The Usual plate and our food came out in about 10 minutes. The Usual plate was pretty basic but the omelet was super tasty with some unique Asian flavors. YUMMY!! I saw photos of the montecristo and other reviewers thoughts so I already knew what I was going to order prior to arriving. I've never had one before so I didn't know exactly what it was but it was so delicious, I'm glad I tried it! It was three layers of bread that is combined together like French toast on the outside - and inside it had eggs, cheese and ham. I loved it! I didn't taste any oil or egg on the bread so that was a plus. We also ordered the chicken with fried rice plate and gravy on the side. The chicken was really good - as was the gravy (it has a little kick though). We checked in and redeemed a complimentary drink. The peach green tea was sweet but super tasty! This was another restaurant I'd been meaning to try since they opened, and finally got around to trying last weekend, for restaurant week - their restaurant week deal was *fantastic* ($25 for 2 people, with 2 entrees and a shared appetizer, with a $3 optional alcoholic drink per person - normally $7). Really too bad it's only once a year, cause for that price I'd be here all the time! I was a little disappointed that the majority of the menu is just standard brunch food - when they first announced it was coming, I was really hoping the whole menu would be brunch-thai fusion, as opposed to just a couple items. None of the appetizers were fusion at all, so we went with the "biscuit board", comprised of 2 biscuits, a little pot of honey, a little cup of jam, and a few bites worth of a semi-soft pimento cheese, brought out on a cute tray. Everything on that board was tasty, but the biscuits weren't very large (and you can't do much with jam or honey with no biscuits!), so I can't imagine ever ordering it at full price ($8). I'd totally be happy to get it again as part of a restaurant week deal, of course. For our entrees, I got the chicken curry eggs benedict (the real draw of the place!), and my wife got the salmon eggs benedict (which I don't think is on the not-restaurant-week menu?), which was apparently also curried. We both agreed the salmon eggs benedict would probably have been better done more traditionally (I suppose that's why it was an experiment for restaurant week), but that the chicken curry eggs benedict was BOMB. I was expecting it to just basically be English muffin, slice of chicken breast, poached egg, and a curry sauce, but it was so much more than that. It felt less like an eggs benedict, more like a full skillet meal that just happened to have a couple of English muffins at the bottom. It was super-filling, and absolutely delicious - for sure worthy of the $15 price when it isn't restaurant week. I'm not sure I'd ever come back for anything else on their current menu, but I will for sure be back occasionally for that dish again. It's also served with a side salad, which is just lettuce and dressing, but their dressing is fantastic (basically Thai peanut sauce turned into a dressing. So good.) We also got our two $3 cocktails, cause why not, at that price. My wife went with a lavender mimosa, which was *quite* lavender-y. If they were $3 each, I'd drink those all day (sadly, they're normally $7 - for $7, they're pretty small glasses.) I tried the "wild thing", basically a low-abv tequila fruit punch, which was also pretty solid for $3, but again, a bit pricey for $7 given it's not a particularly large glass (plus it's half-strength alcohol for legal reasons, if you were hoping to get any sort of buzz from it). I probably wouldn't bother with their alcohol at full price (too bad they don't have an all you can drink lavender mimosa option!) - they do also have some delicious-looking nonalcoholic fresh juices and teas, though, so I'd probably try one of those next time. I was slightly worried about service, since I'd seen so many people complain about lengthy delays when they first opened, but they have clearly resolved whatever issues they were dealing with at first, because our service was impeccable, and our food came out in a perfectly reasonable amount of time. And I also want to give special props for the fact that I asked for my eggs to be poached over-medium (I'm super picky about runny eggs), and almost invariably, they end up either still too runny, or completely hard... they gave me two *perfectly* over-medium eggs. Even though this bistro did not have a lot of reviews compared to some others the rating was high and me and my friend before we flew out of Long Beach airport stopped at this location. This is the cutest, quaint little bistro with wonderful food. I had the chicken and waffle Smashin, it was so good and the chicken was so tender and juicy. My friend had eggs, waffle, bacon and her eggs were scramble and she said how do they get these eggs so fluffy. if you haven't tried their butterscot coffee try it the owners are so wonderful. We had bought coffee and we were going to buy this one and they just let us have it and then because they're known for their biscuits they gave us a whole biscuit to share. The biscuits are so soft and good size biscuit and so delicious. if you are wondering whether you should try eating here, 100% go eat there. You do not know what you're missing and I am one of those people when I leave a review good or bad I tell it how it is. read more

Wanted to have a nice brunch with my husband & I'm so happy we decided to try this place! Chicken & Waffle Sandwich was amazing! The server recommended the Buttermilk latte & it was delish! TRUELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS PLACE. Me and my partner came in. I ordered chicken and waffles. I also was interested in buying biscuits and gravy by itself as I stated to the cashier. I was charged for a combo instead of it by itself. My food came out first and the host stated she will be back shortly with my partner food. Waited around 10-15 mins. We noticed other people who came after us get their food. We made eye contact with the waitress to come and help however it seems as if she was avoiding us. My partner ended up getting up and walking to the front to ask for it it togo instead. I also got a Togo box and asked for a bag. Once when I was putting my boxes in the bag, the waiter threw out my gravy that I wanted to take home. Food was shit. Waffles soggy. Chicken not fresh, warmly made. Potatoes oily. We confronted the lady waitress of why it took so long and we after us we're getting their food. She stated that was for the people before. Complete lie! Exciting!! The mimosa menu was bomb - I got a strawberry cucumber mimosa and my wife got a cucumber lemonade mimosa. VERY generous amount of champagne and delicious fresh flavors. The waffle and chicken sandwich was crispy, sweet and spicy all at once. Perfect for anyone looking for tasty and classic. But, by far, the best part was the Thai omelette. It's not very often say you get a truly unique take on breakfast items. Having a peanut sauce on a ham omelette was freaking revolutionary. Thank you for an amazing meal. I drove from LA to Long Beach just to visit this spot. Always searching for the best waffle I was eager to give Arize Bistro a try. What I found was a nice little corner breakfast/lunch spot that came highly recommended. It is nice, cozy, and clean. I thought the same of the restroom. In fact my thought was it was decorated in the most soothing way, at least in my opinion. Not a cold bathroom at all. From the moment I walked in until I left the staff was friendly and attentive. And I love when I am leaving somewhere and I am wished well or acknowledged in anyway. The Arize Bistro did not disappoint in cleanliness or customer service. I arrived close to noon and was worried the place might be packed. It was not. I'm sure that is not the case on the weekends. With that I walked in, ordered, and grabbed a table. They brought the food out with a smile. I ordered the recommended items which are their Belgian waffle and biscuit and gravy. The biscuit (singular) and gravy (a biscuit, sausage patty, and gravy) was acceptable. Though I might have liked a thicker sausage I will say the biscuit and especially the gravy were good. the waffle was subpar for me. In the pictures on Yelp the waffles appears to be larger, crispy brown, and yummy. The waffle I was presented was on the extreme lighter side even though it appeared to be fully cooked maybe it was a different batter? I can't really wrapped my head around it. The waffle received a 2 out of 5 for me. Maybe it was a bad waffle day, who knows. The food was good and I would give them another try as I think the place might have just had an off day but I can see the potential. Heck, it is not unheard of to go somewhere on an off day and then every time after that it is amazing. I'll be back and when I do I will update my review. As always, your mileage may vary. read more
