Honey Walnit Shrimp and House Fried Rice

Nomad is the best local Chinese Food! We ordered to go frequently and occasionally we dine in. Take out orders travel well, packed to keep the food piping hot! Leftovers reheated very well (take out ir dine in). The quanities are very generous and we usually get several meals out of one order! This visit we dined in. We ordered some of our favorites as it was only two if us dining. Their Hot & Sour Soup is the best in town! Mongolian Beef and Honey Walnut Shrimp are two main dishes we again. Both were excellent! House Fried Rice (includes shrimp, chickenn and beef) is a great choice! Service is always friendly and amazingly fast! Food is freshly prepared. Our server was Mary and she checked on us often. We come here at least a few times a month, definitely coming back soon!

Todat is Valentines Day! I have been sleeping on this establishment for years. I did not know there was a chinese food restaurant in this area. This place is hidden! The only way I found this restaurant was through youtube. There was an old Asian couple that gave this place high praises in their YouTube review. Kudos to that couple for doing so! This is the only reason why I wanted to check this place out myself. Entered this establishment and was greeted by the host. She sat us down next to the glass windows. Asked what we wanted to order for drinks, I stated a Coke and some water. Minutes passed, received our beverages. Water tasted good! Ordered from the Lunch Special menu which was only $15. That is a great deal! It comes with soup, entree and your choice of rice (white rice or brown rice with egg). This Lunch Special starts at the time of opening to 3pm. 7 days a week! Excluding federal holidays. Entrees ordered was snowpea chicken and some beef peppers. The taste and presentation did not dissapoint. They serve you alot of food for being a Lunch Special. The quality is fresh! Overall all I was impressed pertaining to quantity and quality. The ambiance does not have fancy decor or tables/chairs. The place was old school. I felt like I was in the 80s. Lots of parking. Big Kudos to Mary for being so nice. She was busy but still manages to be patient. The only thing that was missing and would like to see is for this place giving free tea out of courtesy. That would be a nice complimentary add to customers. Thumbs up to this chinese restaurant!

I have been wanting to try this place for some time. My first impression is not good. It feels dirty. Not comfortable at all, tables with a cheap vinyl cover. Condiments in the tables have a slimy film on them obviously not cleaned in some time. We should have left but thought the food may be different. We ordered Braised Shrimp (average), Cashew chicken (fast food quality) and Combo Fried Rice (Gross). There were pieces of beef in the rice that were dried out and had a bad taste as if food stored in a freezer the quickly thawed. Overall it was a huge disappointment. Gross, dirty. And they come to your table in hurry making us feel like we need to hurray and get out so that can seat others and make more money. Very Bad!! Look at the "inside" photos on yelp. That will explain

Every time I come here, the food is delicious, served hot and fresh, and the restaurant is fully packed with every table taken. Plenty of parking outside and plenty of options on the menu for everyone. Highly recommend this spot for large family gatherings as the food is family style.

Ambiance: it's a family style restaurant with spacious indoor and outdoor dining area, and located in the shared plaza with ample parking available Service: very friendly staff although a bit slow, once you receive the bill, you need to pay at the counter Food: variety choices on their menu, proteins including beef, lamb, chicken, and shrimp Hot & Sour Soup - **** chicken, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, tofu, egg, spicy and sour, recommend NOMAD Short Ribs - *** marinated short ribs, wok-tossed with roasted garlic, scallions, dry red chilies, meat tasted old and a bit dry Kung Pao Three Flavors - **** shrimp, chicken, beef, roasted peanuts, scallions, dry red chili, in a kung pao sauce, rich in flavors, recommend Egg Fried Rice - **** steamed rice stir fried with egg, fresh scallions, soy seasoning, recommend Brown Rice - *** average Price: generous portions and reasonable prices for their decent quality, expect $25 per person for a full filing meal

This is a big place with a lot of seating. Some close friends told us about this place, and I made it high time for us to come in for a visit. This place serves traditional Chinese but doesn't have pork. Why you ask? This restaurant is a Chinese Islamic restaurant. They have Arabic artwork and it really works well with everything on the walls. Before I get to the food, I wanted to write about the help. A waitress named Mary came by and sat with us, helping us out figure out what combination of dishes we should have. She was a nicest, most personable person I have ever met. She looked after us from beginning to end. Since my partner wanted the Jalapeño shrimp, we got veggie fried rice, broccoli beef, and chicken chow mein. Before that, she wanted a pair of veggie egg rolls that came with a dip and she really enjoyed them. The food came out, but I waited for everything to come out. It was an amazing array of food that we took into the next day. Everything was great. Chewy and crunchy broccoli, flavorful chow mein, and soft rice. Pricewise, it was just right and i gave this place a great tip . I will definitely come back, and it's nice to know I can move away from express Chinese food for some time now.

Average Chinese Food. The Wonton Soup was decent. It has a dark broth. It was like a War Wonton because it had a bunch of different things in it. The dumplings had nearly nothing inside of them, more like a clump of noodle. The General Tso's Chicken was alright. The Mongolian Beef was a bit sinuey. If we came back we'd all for the Filet Mignon with the Mongolian sauce.

Scallion pancake. Minimum of four people needed.

Long Beach: Easy parking in this sizable attractive restaurant with an extensive menu of flavorsome Chinese food using the freshest of ingredients. I recommend eating here with a herd so you can try more dishes. It was just two of us so it was hard to narrow it down without reinforcements. Caramelized Black Pepper Chicken: So tender with a sauce that was drinkable. We tried. It was a toss up between that and the Filet Mignon. Next time we will go in beef mode. We both took home plenty of leftovers. Scallion pancakes: Four massive pieces of deliciousness. Oily on the fingers/worth it. I recommend a minimum of four people or it's going to follow you home as well. Service was immediate and personable. The food came out timely and piping hot. We were there around 8 PM on a Monday so it was fairly quiet. For the size of this restaurant, I could see it getting very busy and loud/Still worth it. It seemed as though we were the only ones who did not order the sesame flatbread. Yes, I do visual food cruises incognito. Again, we'll just have to bring hungry reinforcements next time. No alcohol, but no shortage of places for beer and spirits nearby. BevMo is a neighbor.

I have a gluten sensitivity and they were able to accommodate me with all my favorites except egg rolls but definitely worth the drive! We had Orange Chicken, Mongolian beef, chicken fried rice and Chicken chow fun all very delicious and huge portions. We had a little of everything and had tons to take home. Ive missed Chinese food and they made everything just like I remember. Make sure you tell them gluten free so they are aware. Staff is so friendly too. Would definitely come back

Came here for dinner around 8:45pm last Friday since my friends and I were working on a project nearby. Surprisingly they still let us dine in and the restaurant still remained open with other new customers coming in as we were eating. We were immediately seated and the server was really kind. We were a group of 5 and I definitely did not expect the portion sizes... they were HUGE! It's hard to tell in my pictures but trust me! All of the food was so delicious and flavorful, it's hard to choose a favorite. Everything came out to be steaming hot. It was roughly $20 per dish but the price is WORTH it considering it was very much shareable family style. We had leftovers for 2 days! Definitely would come back here again!!

Delicious Chinese food with a unique menu. Have never had halal Chinese food but this place does not disappoint. Everything was flavorfully well-balanced--no overpowering tastes. The stewed ox tail had a nice sweet and tangy flavor to it and the oxtail itself was "fall off the bone" tender--a family favorite. The black pepper stir fried sole fish was a little oily but definitely a good choice. The honey ginger wings were mildly sweet, couldn't really taste the ginger and I wish it was crispier but still not bad. Servers have good energy/attitude. Will be back to try more!

Nomad Asian Bistro is by far one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Although I feel that it verges on Indo Chinese. I've been a regular there since at least 2017. It is located near PCH and Second Street in Long Beach, a couple hundred feet from BevMo, in the Same Plaza. There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. It is a Mother-Daughter owned restaurant and was established in 2013. Jamilla Ma, the mother has an extensive experience in Asian cooking and a passion for combining classic flavors with contemporary techniques. They offer Asian cuisine with influences from China's Hui culture and a focus on fresh, handmade items like their Thin Sesame Flatbread. It is also the only Halal Chinese Restaurant in North America. So, they do not serve pork nor do they offer alcoholic beverages. The quality of their food draws people from all corners of SoCal and beyond. Dinner is always the busiest time and during the month of Ramadan, you can expect to wait an hour or more unless you show up an hour before breaking fast. The restaurant is spacious but yet Cozy. The lighting is comfortable and the earth tones on the walls as well as the simple Chinese decor makes the space very inviting. The setting is casual and family friendly. Noise level is moderate to very loud depending on the day and time. They have a large Tv on the wall with close caption that no one watches. They only serve family style meals. So, it is best to go with 2 or more people or take the family or a group of friends. Otherwise you may have lots of left overs. Every dish is large enough for 2-3 people. On a summer night, I Love sitting on their open air patio that is lit by string lights, while sharing a meal with friends and family under the stars. I could not start by describing the amazing menu. It is extensive and has every Chinese food dish imaginable. Beef, chicken, seafood, vegetarian, rice dishes, hand made noodles and endless combinations and flavors. I'm sure that I'm missing some things. (See pictures for actual full menu) They use the freshest ingredients and everything is made in house. They also have some delicious beverages such as the fresh pressed Ginger ale and their seasonal Peach Ice tea. The List goes on. Some of My favorite items on the Menu are the Hot and sour soup which is full of mushrooms, The orange chicken, The Pineapple fried rice with beef chicken and shrimp, The Pepper Mushroom beef and the chili Chicken. Everything is so delicious. The hand made noodles are a must. The service has always been great and prices are reasonable. I highly recommend Nomad Asian Bistro for anyone who has not tried them yet. Happy Eating!!!

The beef itself was a little chewy and in large pieces. I prefer the meat to be cut a little smaller and would like more lettuce and cucumber. I got a little taste of the spicy fried rice, which was really good. Some of us ordered Thai tea and didn't expect what we received, which was the tea with a Thai tea popsicle. What a treat! We tried several things including the crab and pork soup dumplings, shrimp wonton in chili oil, house beef noodle soup, orange chicken, and walnut shrimp. Definitely a place you can easily have a family style meal at! Crab and pork soup dumplings - really good flavor, wish there was slightly more soup in the dumpling! Would definitely get again, especially if you get their HH price Walnut shrimp - my new favorite walnut shrimp in the area! These came out nice and fresh, shrimp was cooked well, sauce was good balance of sweet and savory Beef noodle soup - broth was surprisingly not as hearty as the deep color would make you think, but still very full of beef flavor. The beef was very tender, melt in your mouth! Noodles were nicely bouncy with mild chew. Good option if you are in the mood for noodle soup Orange chicken - unfortunately seemed to be a mix of freshly cooked and an old order as some pieces were warmer than others. Good flavor, but chicken inside the breading was quite dry. Wish it was a bit saucier Shrimp wonton in chili oil - to me had a strange aftertaste. It does have cucumber in the wonton - warm cucumber taste was not for me Inside had a rustic appearance with brick walls and industrial lights. A good place to eat with a few friends and try different things. Would come back for the walnut shrimp and crab and pork soup dumplings!

She did not let me down as we walked in and noticed how truly authentic it was going to look. Chinese decor on the walls and boxes of restaurant supples in the corners. Just as it should be. The bonus was that they had a TV showing the NBA Finals when we arrived. Pretty nice touch and in the back of the restaurant so as not to distract everyone. We went with a couple of our favorite dishes to run along and the Chicken Lo Mein was pretty good. Crispy pieces of chicken and soft noodles and veggies to go with it. We chose to get Mongolian Beef and it was absolutely fantastic. Crispy celery, green onions and decent sized pieces of meat in a terrific sauce. I would love to try to replicate that. My wife wanted a shrimp dish so she ordered the honey walnut and it even looked good to me when they brought it. She loves egg rolls, so she got a four piece and said they were pretty good. My biggest wow of the visit was their vegetable fried rice. MY GOD. I dont know what they season or flavor it with, but every fork full of rice that i ate, it was this sense of flavor that reminded me of butter or something else. He wasn't very friendly and kind of just set the plates down wherever there was space, even on top of the plates we were already using. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight, but because of that experience with the service, it'll probably be a while before I come back.

Also any of their curries is excellent. This time we went with the massaman curries. Nice thick broth with peanuts, potatoes, onion and carrots in a coconut sauce. Another flavorful dish. And of course we always get the papaya salad Thai style with shrimp and peanut. There also the Laos style with fermented fish sauce and salty crab. It's quite nice too but it could be too strong of a taste for some people. The food has always been excellent. Service was always excellent with friendly staff. They're always so welcoming and attentive to their customers. A must for me whenever I'm down in Long Beach. Parking can be tricky as it's all street parking.
