Food was pretty good! I thought it was expensive but I was able to take some togo so it's relatively good portions. I gave three stars because I didn't think the food was mind-blowing, but it was still satisfying. The Thai tea was good too but not the best I've had. The pistachio matcha was really yummy though! If you like pistachio flavor you'll enjoy it, but it lies more on the artificial pistachio flavor side and the matcha is a powder similar to something from Starbucks. The place is super cute and definitely a good spot for a date or to get brunch. The workers are all super nice and helpful too! I would come back to definitely try more of the drinks like the lemonades which they have a lot of flavors of.
Joined my friend for brunch today at Arize Bistro and it did not disappoint. After seeing reels about this place I was so excited to try them out. We walked right in before the crowds came in and we placed our order at the counter and the food was brought out to us. Inside was cute and had tables set up as well as some out on their patio. We got the mango sticky rice sauce pancakes and The Usual which consists of 2 eggs with sausage, bacon, or ham, served with kale salad, seasoned red skin potatoes, and a biscuit. We got the bacon which was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were amazing! The pancakes were awesome and hit the sweet spot for us as we shared both entrees. Great service and fabulous food! Definitely a place to check out!
Was craving for waffle & fried chicken and heard about this place so stopped by to check it out. Parking was meter street parkings. The place is right on the corner so easy to spot it out and was lucky to get parking right next to the place. They do have outside and indoor seating areas...outside has only 4-5 tables this morning but saw plenty of unfolded chairs and tables so I guess weekend will have more seating outside. Once you got in, you're greeted by (the owner I believed) and informed you the menu and drinks menu. Easy order and got my number and picked a seat. Once they done, the foods are brought to your table. The seating area is more of community setting, you clean after you done eating, free hot/cool/cold water and with mixing of all type of chairs and tables. Quite homey and chill vibe. Got the waffle & fried chicken and Thai iced coffee. Abit watery coffee and less sweet (which is great, which I like). The waffles are great...very fluffy and light plus nicely tasty with the syrup. Chicken is good, good size but abit too blanched for me plus not well seasoned enough but crispy fried. Overall, it was good and for both items and 16% tip, around $30.
Mango sticky rice pancakes were super yummy 10/10. They have a little crispy edge action going on if you like that. Outdoor seating was nice. Definitely coming back next weekend for chicken & waffles.
This place is the place to be. Super cute vibes in and out, and the menu is unbeatable. I had their baja baby skillet, and it was a little spicy but still delish. The chorizo was pretty greasy, and I wouldn't get this again. But trying my mom's hot asian omelet made me envious because it was so fluffy and not oily at all. I need to get that myself the next time I am here. I think what really influenced me to give this restaurant a 5 is due to their famous mango sticky rice pancakes. The sauce is soooooo good. The pancakes taste like they were made using rice flour. Wasn't heavy at all. You need to try these!!! I can't wait to come again for these pancakes and eat some more of their yummy brunch meals.
Like I mentioned before, my family and I are on a mission to try 1-2 new breakfast spots each month because of how much we love breakfast food. This was the second stop on our list, and it turned out to be a great choice. Since the restaurant is on the smaller side, it can get pretty crowded on weekends. We decided to go on a weekday morning instead and were seated right away, which made for a relaxed start to our meal. The menu has a solid variety of options, so we already know we'll be back to try more. For food, my wife ordered the Monte Cristo along with a passion fruit lemonade. The sandwich was good overall, though it leaned a bit more savory than I personally prefer--I tend to like my Monte Cristos on the sweeter side, so I would've preferred a little less mustard. That said, the passion fruit lemonade was excellent and an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys a refreshing, fruity drink. I went with the Belly Bomb Panini and added sausage to take it up a notch. Flavor-wise, it delivered, but the bread did get soggy fairly quickly. It didn't bother me much, though I know texture can be a dealbreaker for some people. What really stood out for me was the Starburst lemonade--it was easily my favorite drink of the meal, and I couldn't get enough of it. For our son, we ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Sauce Pancakes, which ended up being a hit for all of us. He especially loved them, and honestly, we didn't even need syrup. The combination of the sticky rice sauce, whipped cream, and mango created the perfect balance of sweetness. My only wish is that the portion came with a bit more sauce and fruit. Overall, we were really happy with both our visit and our food choices. There are definitely some standout items here that are worth trying, and we're looking forward to coming back and adding more favorites to our list.
I'm sorry this is my spot and I'm back again lol everything is good I had to try something new! And I was not disappointed.. the staff is friendly and he definitely have a great sense of humor ... never a dull moment .. food is always hot and fresh and made to order. The place is always clean and nice music .. definitely a small gem!
Food looks beautiful but sadly no flavor!! The eggs were soaking wet ( I ordered scrambled eggs) I ask to send them back and the gentleman offered for them to cook them more! By this he meant taking the eggs that sat for 15 minutes wet next to me until he returned to ask us how we were doing then they tried recooking the eggs! Mind you when you order you pay! You have no idea what you're getting yourself into until it's in front of you. Staff was friendly but unfortunately the seasoning wasn't in the food and that egg incident will keep me from returning I forgot to mention that the mimosas are overly priced and really distasteful! Had I known it was coming room temperature in a plastic cup mixed the syrup I would've passed! Came in on a Saturday morning at 9 AM. You order at the counter then seat yourself. Grab your own water. We ordered the mango sticky rice pancakes and fried chicken and rice. The gravy for the fried chicken was good, chicken was crispy. The coconut rice was not very coconut but still good. The pancakes were very sweet with mango on top. For two people it was enough food. The pancakes were almost like a dessert. We got the pistachio latte and lemonade which was also very sweet.
Food was amazing overall! It's a small shop vibe with a very small dog friendly patio. Service was so kind and attentive - gives you a real family vibe! Mango Sticky Rice pancakes were to die for!! Never had such a good flavor sauce, usually other places taste really artificial but this was tasty. Chicken all around for every plate was great, maybe a little dry but well seasoned. Coconut rice ia the choice of rice to go! Will be back when I'm craving those pancakes and waffles.
Decided to give this place a shot for brunch and the food was good. I think my scoring for this review is low because it's very expensive. The portion is a pretty nice size but I just don't think it's worth the price. You order and then you sit. The mimosas were okay ; I would prefer a juice instead of like pumps of syrup.
Great experience at Arize Bistro. The Fried Chicken Biscuit was juicy and flavorful food. The Thai coffee was refreshing. But what amazing service, although it seems they are understaffed. Our order took longer but the food is worth the wait. My friend got the chicken and waffles, which was also amazing.
This is definitely a solid brunch spot in Long Beach. I came here last weekend with a few friends, and we were pretty early, about 10am, so finding seating was easy. You order at the front and then they'll bring your food out to you, so no one is really checking on you throughout your dining experience. I ordered the Thai tea boba pancakes and the fried chicken biscuit. The pancakes were not bad, but very unique to add boba on top I thought! The fried chicken was pretty tasty and definitely a lot more chick n than biscuit. The biscuit was thick and dense, but still good. Overall, a good solid breakfast!

Wanted to have a nice brunch with my husband & I'm so happy we decided to try this place! Chicken & Waffle Sandwich was amazing! The server recommended the Buttermilk latte & it was delish! My husband tried the turmeric iced coffee & that was EVEN BETTER! I'm not a fan of turmeric, but man that was made with love. What made our time here so pleasant was the server. She was so sweet & so attentive! I don't know if she was the owner, but she was great! (I wish I would've asked for her name) Definitely coming back read more

the food was amazing!! such a unique menu with great thai flavors that really stand out in simple classic american dishes. the Montecristo was amazing, something i've never seen before, and the potatoes were perfectly seasoned. cucumber lemonade was great as well, very refreshing. i'd definitely get both again. the service was pretty good, i think there was only 3 people running the restaurant, but for how small of a staff they had, everything came out on pretty decent timing. the restaurant is so cute with an amazing quaint atmosphere with lots of greenery and fun little seating areas all around the cafe. i would definitely go here again. it is only street parking, and it is in dtlb, and not the nicest of areas but still a very fun spot to get some asian american brunch!! read more

YUMMY!! I saw photos of the montecristo and other reviewers thoughts so I already knew what I was going to order prior to arriving. I've never had one before so I didn't know exactly what it was but it was so delicious, I'm glad I tried it! It was three layers of bread that is combined together like French toast on the outside - and inside it had eggs, cheese and ham. I loved it! I didn't taste any oil or egg on the bread so that was a plus. We also ordered the chicken with fried rice plate and gravy on the side. The chicken was really good - as was the gravy (it has a little kick though). We checked in and redeemed a complimentary drink. The peach green tea was sweet but super tasty! They have generous portions. You can share! Definitely recommend this spot. The only thing is that they don't have air conditioning (lots of fans) read more

Hot and new? Try lukewarm and old, as in, sitting in the kitchen under a light while they focus on photos. This place has work to do. Been waiting more than 30 minutes at lunch. Most people don't have this long to wait at lunchtime. Annoyed with the wait, at this point, the place is largely empty. The soundtrack is terrible. They have deployed the Smooth Jazz. We are not impressed. Hopefully the food will be good when it comes. We ordered the Hochiminh sandwich (Vietnamese bahn mi, I think) and a Thai curry chicken salad to share. In three to six weeks, when we receive our food, I will let you know. They actually took food and photographed it at another table before delivering ours. This is pretty unacceptable. I'm looking at food getting cold at another table while they photograph it?? This is super weird. I get it, you are new, but don't let my food get old and soggy while we wait for you to prepare food for photos. Essentially, they had a photographer there to take pictures for their menu or whatever and they were focused on making stuff look pretty for him instead of serving paying customers at lunch time. It took over 40 minutes to get food and when it came it was lukewarm and pretty terrible. Here's a photo of a guy who spent more than 5 minutes photographing food before we got ours. And they brought the salad and soup that was supposed to come with the lunch special immediately after bringing the sandwich. So we sat with no food for 40 minutes and then have all the food at once to get cold and old before we could eat it? Huh. What a mess. The chicken curry was not hot and the "salad" was a side salad on a plate with a sea of sauce and some desiccated old chicken floating in it. Gross. The steak sandwich was okay. Probably the best thing we had, but serving the soup and salad after was just weird. The soup was awful. Like someone threw some chopped veggies into boxed chicken stock. I did not bother to eat it. Side salad was good, Basic greens with a vinegar based dressing. Nice enough people but lunchtime is not a good time to force people to linger while making them watch a photoshoot while they wait too long for their food. Not great. read more

I was excited to come try this place due to the Asian flavors combined with breakfast items. First, the owners/staff are super nice and friendly (I hate to leave 3 stars). We are pretty patient when waiting for food, however, it did seem to take a while. Not usually a big deal when the food is amazing. However, when we got our meal, it definitely didn't do anything exciting for our tastebuds. Even without biting into it, the food looks pretty basic and bland. I had the curry chicken benedict. I love curry. The flavors just weren't right and was way too sweet. And my poached egg wasn't cooked right :-( I could stab it, while the white part was super runny. My partner didn't like her meal either. My favorite part was her salad (which could use some tomatoes or something). I forced myself to eat half, but we wouldn't go back. I came here on a Sunday at 12:00 with my dad. We were seated right away and waited a few minutes for our waters. We ordered at 12:15 and our food came at 1. Because of the slow service, we received a very large complimentary almond croissant. It was dry around the edges but was good when we got to the almond paste. When the food came, it was pretty incredible. I got the $12.5 waffle sandwich which was 2 very large halves each with scrambled eggs, waffle quarters as the buns, bacon, and bacon jam. Make no mistake, they made an ENTIRE Belgian waffle for this sandwich. The waffle itself was sweet, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Perfect. The eggs and bacon were among the best restaurant eggs and bacon I've ever had. The eggs were incredibly thick, creamy, and rich. Man, it's a wonder how they achieved this size. My dad's meal came with a single scrambled egg and we were baffled at how big it was. The bacon was smoky and cooked to a golden brown, exactly as it should be. Restaurants in my experience usually far undercook the bacon so it is fatty with no crisp, and eggs are often watery and gross. This place is definitely challenging that stereotype for me. And the sandwich was enormous too. Filled me up for NINE hours. Definitely will split it next time. Arize needs to work on their wait times and service for sure though. Around my seating area, I noticed there was no silverware at any table people were sitting at waiting for their food, and a couple folks asked for it when they received their food, as it still hadn't come. There was also no soap left in the bathroom. As for the wait time, our waitress told us there were only 2 cooks, which is what was holding everything up. I don't know if this was a fluke day or whether they usually have more staff, but from reading reviews it seems this isn't out of the ordinary. The restaurant also wasn't particularly busy- there were plenty of empty tables. Love love love the food, but I'll hold off coming back for a few weeks, as I realize because Arize is so new they probably need some time to adapt. Fingers crossed! Summary: - loooong wait time on a weekend though I appreciated getting a complimentary croissant that was mostly decent - amazing waffle sandwich. So big I could easily split and be very full - will give them a few weeks and come back again. Hopefully service will have improved by then. read more

I absolutely Love this place! The food! What can I say, it's a fusion of American classics with a touch of Asian cuisine. And the Mimosas are a treat that you'll come back for. The employees at Arize Bistro makes the already intimate comfortable setting feel like home. Me and my Wife always prefer the patio and we always try a new flavor Mimosa. This is a must try. Had the Brettswitch or something forgettable...it was really good! And the grits were good! Also had a French press of the Guatemalan coffee and a pineapple mimosa (so so good) My friend had the breakfast waffle sandwich..the portions were off. Wayyyyy too much egg, not enough "bacon" jam which made it dry dry dry. We shared entrees which is why I am including her meal and removing a star. Cute ambiance. Is Def eat here again..just not the Waffle sandy unless I got a side of sausage gravy read more

Went on Sunday afternoon and they were busy, we greeted and ask to wait right away. We seated faster than anticipated. Overall the space is cute and staff was friendly. Service is slow, again the restaurant was full and maybe they are understaffed. We did receive free pastries due to the wait. Coffee was good, the cucumber lemonade was a hit with everyone at the table. Food has room for improvement especially due to their price points. Pastries platter was good, whip cream was delicious and the brownies were the kids favorite. Only thing is I hoped it would have came out before our meal not with it. I drove from LA to Long Beach just to visit this spot. Always searching for the best waffle I was eager to give Arize Bistro a try. What I found was a nice little corner breakfast/lunch spot that came highly recommended. It is nice, cozy, and clean. I thought the same of the restroom. In fact my thought was it was decorated in the most soothing way, at least in my opinion. Not a cold bathroom at all. From the moment I walked in until I left the staff was friendly and attentive. And I love when I am leaving somewhere and I am wished well or acknowledged in anyway. The Arize Bistro did not disappoint in cleanliness or customer service. I arrived close to noon and was worried the place might be packed. It was not. I'm sure that is not the case on the weekends. With that I walked in, ordered, and grabbed a table. They brought the food out with a smile. I ordered the recommended items which are their Belgian waffle and biscuit and gravy. The biscuit (singular) and gravy (a biscuit, sausage patty, and gravy) was acceptable. Though I might have liked a thicker sausage I will say the biscuit and especially the gravy were good. the waffle was subpar for me. In the pictures on Yelp the waffles appears to be larger, crispy brown, and yummy. The waffle I was presented was on the extreme lighter side even though it appeared to be fully cooked maybe it was a different batter? I can't really wrapped my head around it. The waffle received a 2 out of 5 for me. Maybe it was a bad waffle day, who knows. The food was good and I would give them another try as I think the place might have just had an off day but I can see the potential. Heck, it is not unheard of to go somewhere on an off day and then every time after that it is amazing. I'll be back and when I do I will update my review. As always, your mileage may vary. read more

Arize Bistro is the former Sweet Dixie Kitchen located on 3rd & Elm in DTLB. It had been a while since I'd been at the SDK, so I thought I'd give the new restaurant a try. The decor is the same- cute and cozy. The customer service was a little slow, but this is expected for a new business and it was pretty busy too. I did not experience any major customer service problems. The two servers working the floor were super nice and hustling every second. Looking through the menu, I noticed they had retained some of SDK's southern roots, but also added some Asian flavors, which is unique. Looking around at what other diners ordered, everything looked delicious. I wish I had brought some friends with me so I could order more. The coffee at Arize Bistro is good coffee- nice and strong! The Trip to Thailand omelet came with a side salad and a biscuit. The biscuit was delicious. The side salad came with a light Asian style salad dressing. The omelet was moist with a fair amount of veggies and meat and an Asian style aioli on top. The Asian-Southern flavor combination complimented each other well. The omelet was very tasty and huge! I had enough leftover for breakfast the next day and it tasted just as good as leftovers. So glad this new restaurant is in the neighborhood. The food is immaculate & fresh....pictures will never do the food justice, your first bite will be as delicious as your last ! The service here is 10/10 they are very attentive & they make sure your experience will be one you will smile about ! I love this place. It's a crazy little American style French Bistro and they always go above and beyond. Today I got to try the bee rasin and match cake the chef created. It's just a nice relaxing place to have a cup of coffee or a beer and relax. It's not the cheapest but the portions are huge as well as the quality and the presentation. It feels like a real treat when I come here. read more
