This is a review of the bar only...nearly everyone knows what to expect from chain restaurants & their food. However I do have to say that I've never had a bad waiter at this Applebee's. If you order anything besides beer or their low level selection of wine (remember it's a chain restaurant)...don't expect there to be more than the EXACT level of alcohol in it. I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea...couldn't even taste the alcohol. Who orders a LIID & doesn't want to taste alcohol. I asked if I could get one served with alcohol in it & she said she'd have to charge me for two as they are given very specific instructions on how much alcohol they can put in their drinks. I think this establishment weighs the bottles to ensure the bartenders aren't given out too much alcohol with their drinks. Pretty much if you wanna get a beer with some food & watch a game or hang out...this isn't such a bad place. read more

Would have given it a one star as the music was too loud, the internet kept kicking me off, and the food took forever and turned out to not even be fully thawed, but the waitress was nice when she was around (which wasn't often). First off, the music is good music, but it's way above background level and as our seat was under a speaker, my mother and I were practically shouting at each other to talk. Second, the internet is some of the worst I've seen. It may be due partly to our seating (in the far front corner), but it kept connecting and would only let me surf the web from Safari. And it was slow. Lastly, the food came out after 20 minutes, even though there were a total of 6 people (including my mother and I) in our section. That would have dropped them to 3 stars, but my mother's soup came out warmed over. The top was lukewarm and at the bottom there was a section that hadn't even thawed yet. The lettuce on our salads were a little warm for our tastes as well. When we told the waitress about the soup, she took it back to the kitchen and returned about 5 minutes later with a warmer (but not soup level hot) bowl. This time everything was thawed, but the spiciness of the dish was way out of proportion, almost spicy enough to ruin it. And, mind you, this is coming from someone who enjoys jalapenos, banana peppers, and Sriracha sauce on their sandwiches. Overall, a one star dining facility with a three and a half star wait staff when they were around and a two-star chef. My husband and I love Applebee's! We rarely go out and when we do, we can't really afford much. They have the option to choose two entrees for $25, and it includes an appetizer. It's perfect for our budget and while the entrees offered are a little small, they're very satisfying. The service is always excellent as well. read more

It's really funny going through these reviews trying to find mine from last week. Where did it go? Was it because there's was so much truth to it? Did Becky get any consequences for the way she treated the customers and her coworker? My review should not have been taken down. The way Becky treated her customers and the way she talked about her coworker crying outside to the customers should not go unnoticed. Everything else about our experience in eureka was amazing besides Becky. Still a week later I'm back home and still disgusted with the way she was. She didn't have the right to give me a seating chart for my kids because "if it's not me serving your food, the babies could get hurt,". Then they shouldn't be serving us our food if they're putting my kids in harms way Becky. Also BECKY specifically I want you sit and think what if roles were reversed and you were the one crying and your coworkers went and told the entire restaurant that you were outside crying. That's so embarrassing and I was so mad for that poor girl. And you had the audacity to be fake and give her a hug after embarrassing her. "I'm sorry we can't find your ticket the girl who took your order is outside crying". Plus that poor old couple on the way out said you us "we hope your experience with her is better than ours and that you get your food on time." Which we didn't which is okay because everything just opened up. But for my food to come out 25 minutes earlier than my fiancé's and then for Becky to say after I put it aside because we go to a restaurant to eat together; Not one eats and then the other 25 mins later she had the audacity to say "why aren't you eating your burger is there something wrong with it?" In the most absolute rude way possible. I'm sorry Becky I understand you guys had just opened but your demeanor and attitude with the customers can't go unnoticed. You were the worst experience of a server I have ever had. The rest of your team was so nice and understanding and awesome with us. I have had several not up to par experiences with Applebee's, but keep giving them more chances. This time I went on a overnight trip with my daughter. After arriving in town late and getting a room, we headed to dinner. When our meals were delivered to our table, my daughter had a plastic baggie under her veggies! I'm assuming it was the steaming bag? Minus points for the kitchen, and minus points for the server not checking the plate before taking it out! My identical plate, had such a grisly piece of meat that i spit out most of it! The manager took off my daughters meal and half of mine! I honestly feel the whole meal should have been comp'd! I was in Eureka visiting my family and my mom wanted to take me to lunch at this place. Typically I enjoy Applebees here in Sacramento but this one in Eureka is the WORST place I have EVER been. There were maybe 20 people in there, not busy at all for the amount of staff present. It took us 45 minutes to get our food. I ordered the sample platter with the pulled pork tacos and my mom ordered some rice bowl. When the server brought our food she just plopped the dishes in front of us and walked away. I immediately called for her but she kept walking. I picked up the platter and went towards her because it was completely the wrong order. She was stopped at a person's table who had been served about 5 minutes prior a sample platter (my sample platter). I gave her the platter for the women complaining her order was wrong. The server had the nerve to say, "I just take the orders to the tables they tell me." WHAT, HELLO???? I have never heard of that in my life....I have never had a server come to a table and not verify the order before they sit it down and see if there is anything else one might need. The best part is I told them to cancel my order because I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes, and within 5 minutes I had a new sample platter being served by the manager, however, they had just re-plated my food that the other customer had been touching and picking off of & it was stone cold. It was obviously re-plated because of the little white dishes they put the food on and into the basket. Listen people I get this every time I go to Applebees and that is not what the first one looked like fresh from the kitchen nor has any I have ever had looked like that. My mom's broccoli was completely raw and was supposed to be steamed. They opened it, took it out of the bag and threw it on the dish. The bottom of the broccoli stems were black so they didn't even bother to cut the ends off. The manager gave me my dish for free but I was a little grossed out and just could not eat it. The only reason we even come here is because the kiddos like it. It's Applebees, which means mediocre food & watered down cocktails. Service is typically hit or miss & everything seems to take forever. As far as chain restaurants go, what you see is what you get. read more

We don't expect much from Applebee's except a consistent food experience (you know what you're going to get) and timeliness. We ordered takeout here and asked for extra dressing for the salad when we got inside. They said yes, walked to the back and grabbed our food and specifically said the extra dressing is in there with the salad. We should know better but we assumed we were safe, drove to our hotel only find there was no salad and, understandably at this point, no extra dressing. Seems petty to be upset, but it's frustrating to get back and not have food for one person of the group - especially after you paid for it and tipped on it. read more

We were on our way back to Portland from a trip to SF on Thanksgiving. We got in and felt that service was OK, if not somewhat detached and routinely. Ordered three dishes for the family. I can't really come up with words to accurately describe how uniquely bad they were. I guess I could say they were off beat. Pizza had no flavor but full of salt, the so-called orange chicken was hopelessly blend and had no character, and the pasta was simply overcooked and tasted exactly like ketchup. I have mixed feelings on Applebees, and both sides of my emotional roller coaster come from the fact that it is corporate. What do our corporate overlords provide: *Consistent food *Very tasty recipes that were undoubtedly focus group tested *Price competitiveness *Some very good specials such as happy hour the gift card promotion *Forced humiliation of a birthday patron What our corporate overlords withhold: *A workplace that keeps employees so when you develop a relationship with a server, you get to enjoy that server again and again. *A natural dialogue with staff that isn't scripted to the point of ridiculousness. (note: we were once asked to do a survey, which essentially let us know that all the conversations we had been having with staff were mandated by training protocols, such as "did the manager greet you during your meal?" and "were you told 'see you tomorrow?'" while leaving, and "where you presented with new menu options by your server?") *Dignity for the servers that must humiliate the birthday patron So while I cannot say that I will not dine with the devil, I am also not in a hurry to go back anytime soon. But bang for the buck still compels me to give a well earned three stars. read more

why why why?!?!?!? seriously and for real this time. not going back. the hostess stand we waited for 5 minutes to be seated. asked if we could be seated AWAY from the little kids dancing and SINGING in the aisle. we got seated BEHIND them. took our waitress , Felicia or Alecia or something like that to even take our order. we ordered first, 2 brewtus coors light, crispy wonton tacos. she brought our beers out and we ordered the rest...cheetos wings...she brought out flaming hot wings. we tried them and said to each other, this aint right, she had the time to correct the order but still COULD NOT bring out what we ordered first! every time we tried to flag her down for anything (I had to get may own napkins) we were met with 'hold on sir'. man husband had had enough, got up and said you are a shitty waitress, you deserve the tips you don't get! he walked out. the waitress then told me to leave because she doesn't deserve to be talked to that way. I got the 9oz sirloin with red mashed potatoes and steamed veggies and it was all perfect! I walked through the doors and was seated and as I was sitting there I thought to myself, I never imagined myself sitting at an applebees in Eureka. A poor choice on my part but was the only place that was open outside of arcata. This is one of those places that you think is inexpensive but when you really look at the prices its quite the opposite. I'm vegetarian so the only think I could get besides fries was their pizza. These guys are doing a great job! It's not often you see a chain restaurant or any restaurant in this area where drinks are prepared to look great as well as food. And the staff was great as well. It could have been quicker but I'm sure the waitress was busy as a bee so I understand. Something that I thought was really great is that the gentleman waiting tables brought my food to my table. They have three-dollar margaritas during happy hour (3-6), which makes it totally worth it to go, but don't get the Bourbon Street Sirloin. Their 7.99 burger deal is a bait and catch. It is not all three burgers that they highlight, only the quesadilla burger. Even the manger said it was very misleading advertising. The quesadilla burger is a joke of a beef patty. I've had bigger patties at fast food joints for much less of a price. Yes you receive Unlimited Fries but the server was not too keen in seeing that we wanted an extra serving. We had to call him over and ask for extra fries. The ones that came on the original plate were very skimpy and of course frozen. After we consumed our meal the extra fries came. At least they were hot. My wife's non 7.99 burger was supposed to have crunchy onion rings . It didn't. We had to ask a different server what the heck was up. She did bring us a small serving of basically cold pieces of onion rings. In all, this was a complete rip off. Will not return to Applebees. By not making the customer happy over 4 bucks on a crummy burger they will never get a return trip by us. read more

I've been here a few times, it's nice to have a couple chains in Humboldt county to eat at when you're from a bigger city and feel homesick. But I've stopped going for good. The service has gone severely downhill, and last time I went we ordered all our food pretty quickly... which then took an hour and ten minutes to come out. No one refilled my water, I waved two waiters down twice to simply ask how much longer they might think... and they'd say they would check and never return. When we finally got our food, our waitress (who finally appeared after an hour and a half, seriously) gave us the check right away and didn't even say thanks. And the food tasted like it had been sitting out for 20 minutes... a little dry, a little room temperature, not acceptable. Just go to a local restaurant, they're better. read more

this place has definitely gotten better since i first went here. Every time my boyfriend and I come here now were greeted with a smile and the food is always delicious, the last few times i've went there I had the steak from the 2 for 20 menu and is was probably the most delicious steak i've ever had. I love going here. But I must note that sometimes are order of dessert don't make it out or one occasion a wrong order came out, slightly wrong, this happened only once and it was busy. Overall, the food is delicious and I love the desserts. Love the location by the mall. Becky our server was very rude and disrespectful. She didn't like where I had my children seated because servers other than her may not pay attention and put them in harms way. Well Becky they shouldn't be servers then. Also, many times in the area I could hear her call out one of her coworkers "I'm trying to find her but she's outside crying". That was really rude of her to put some one else's business Out there for the customers. The girl was doing the best she could she had a moment that's all, Becky had to reason to put her on blast for the customers . It's none of her business. If one of my coworkers was inside telling everyone I was crying out side I'd be embarrassed. I was embarrassed for the girl. we understood you guys were just opening up again, but beckys demenor and tone with us was rude and disrespectful.
