Okay so it's a chaotic apple store and there are a lot of sales reps but not a ton of techs/geniuses, it's crowded and everything and whatnot but the people working there are excellent considering the circumstances (like when absurd people like me come in) But this review is mostly for Danny who was not only kind enough to help me with a warranty issue on my AirPods but also took the time to give me advice on what sort of accessories to buy and helped me get my life right with a new case and cables. His colleague was also super helpful and I didn't catch her name!! But she sold me on a new car magnet adapter phone holder thing that I've needed for ages. Overall super glad I got them when going into the store, Danny and his colleague deserve a raise and a bonus and more for being so helpful and bearing with my crazy energy coming into the store read more

We were at the Apple store in Holyoke last week to purchase a new IPad. We were told to wait and someone would come and help us. No one came and we asked the woman again and she wouldn't take our name and told us to wait. My husband is disabled and the security guard was concerned and came over and offered him a seat. He declined and we continued to wait even though some of the workers were huddled and chatting amongst themselves. A kind customer offered us his appointment spot. At this point we decided to leave. This is a very poorly run poorly run store. We probably would not return to this store. read more

So we're starting off with 5 Stars because their service is always always super awesome. For the second time since she owned them, my daughter is having problems with her AirPods. The first time was a manufacturer's defect, this time it sounds like one of speakers is blown. Initially, Taha our Apple rep said that the only thing that they could do for us was sell us 1 AirPod for $69.00 we were understanding because that's all that he was able to do. My wife asked if it was possible to speak to a manager because of the issues we've had in the year that she's them. Along comes the manager; Maddison (our daughter is also a Madison), she checked her AirPods, listened to them and said, "let me see what we can do", she went back to the Genius Bar and came back and that quickly, she said, I'm sorry for the problems you had with them Maddie but we're going to replace them for you at no charge. She got the new pair, gave them to Taha who set them up for her and again apologized to Maddie. I've visited Apple stores up and down the east coast and this is by far the absolute BEST of all the fantastic service we've received. read more

Terribly staffed. This store hires unqualified kids and really sends a lazy message about what the apple store is right now. A waste of time. Expect to waste an hour or two here, waiting for some kid to come tell you you need pay $650 for whatever. That's the "special number" they always have. Pretend it's complex and charge the $650. I brought my Powerbeats pro in to get looked at because my right earbud kept losing connection during workouts. They sent it into the beats facility and a week later sent back to Apple store. This is where I was informed they updated the firmware in my earbud. Then, went to use them and they stopped working after 15 minutes. Super annoyed about spending the $250 when the product doesn't live up to expectations and the time wasted trying to fix this. I got the Powerbeats pro three years ago and Apple offers only a two-year warranty, seems kind of ironic... read more

After waiting two weeks for an appointment I arrived at the Apple store in the Holyoke Mall and dropped my phone off for a simple screen repair. The Tech asked me to return in an hour and the phone would be repaired. After an hour I stopped back and was told another hour, and then another hour...3 hours total. Obviously there was a problem, turns out the tech damaged the phone while removing the screen and the "touch to logon" feature no longer worked. I was reassured that while the parts to fix my phone were not in stock they could be ordered and I would be notified when they were ready to redo the faulty repair. It's been 6 weeks and no response from Apple...It's impossible to speak with anyone at their Holyoke store and they've cancelled two of the visits I recently scheduled so that I could speak with a manager. My next option is small claims court. read more

Brought in a perfectly functioning iPhone for a simple battery replacement. First visit took me an hour drive and 2 hours of waiting around. Get home to find that my iPhone now only works on speakerphone. So I call. They tell me to bring it back, and they will repair it. Next day I show up, and leave the phone for a "45 minute repair". This turns into 3 hours. Finally, I'm told that they damaged my phone, and don't have the parts to repair it. However, they will give me $140 for my phone, if I want to upgrade for $1,000. Seriously???!!!!!! I spent the next hour DEMANDING that they replace my phone with similar phone. They close at 7pm. As I was still there arguing at 7:30, they finally agree to give me a similar phone. I won't be back. read more

We had booked online to make a purchase. Had to wait 1/2 hour. Fewer than 10% of staff and customers wore masks.

Sad... This used to be a great place but the experience is so poor nowadays, you're better off avoiding it. Employees are inattentive and not engaged. If you go to buy something, but someone is not in your zone, they won't help you and if you go up to them, they'll direct you to someone else as it's just better to stand there with nothing to do than helping customers. If you need an appointment to get something fixed, expect a 24 hour wait. I did that, got there in time for my appointment but they were 20 or so minutes behind. No one told me that when I checked in. I stood there while employees walked by me, no eye contact, no asking if I needed help, no nothing. Finally, I was helped, and was quoted 3-5 Days for my repair. Day 6, the repair facility informed me that they had just received my Mac and were about to start repairing it. No phone call, no apology no nothing. Got it back 2 days after it was due but that was only because I had to call and have it escalated. These stores used to be world-class. Now they're just classless. Shame on Apple for letting it get this bad. read more

I spent thousands on a laptop only to have it die for no reason, I spend hundreds more to get it going again, I have issues with it not working right, I call for help and after expressing dissatisfaction with this whole situation, I was hung up on by a female technical support advisor who told me in the middle of my talking, "Have a nice day" (*click*) Apple sucks. Bring a book. Bring two books. Maybe a cross stitch. I went there with what I hoped would be quick questions about upgrading my iPhone and Macbook. How busy could it be mid-afternoon on a Thursday? Busy enough that I wasn't greeted and it took 15-20 minutes for someone to talk to me. It took another hour for someone to see me, during which I just wandered the store like a lost tribe of Israel. Guy who finally talked to me was super condescending, would answer my questions by reading me things off the website (that I'd checked before I got there -- without giving me a chance to tell him that) and didn't know the answer to others (since they weren't on the website). He overexplained every answer (often not actually answering the question I had) even when I attempted to redirect the conversation to my actual questions. I end up deciding to replace my iPhone then and there partially so I didn't have to come back and do this all over again (I asked if there was a way to speed through some of the steps if I came back & was shown, like I was a toddler, how to sign in for an appointment online. I know how to sign in for an appointment online. He could have just suggested I schedule one or asked if I knew how, but no, it was still show and tell hour.) We go through the purchasing process and begin transferring the data from my old phone. The screen is saying it will take two hours. But hey, he says, it might not take that long. He does not give me the option of signing them over to the Genius Bar; after the process has started I am instead told that b/c of liability I will have to remain with the phones while the data transfers. Reader, it took over two hours of sitting in the store, staring at the bars slooooooowly transferring my data between devices. I couldn't leave the table I was at and of course I had no working phone. Every hour or so he checked on me just to again tell me there was nothing he could do and it would get done eventually. Between these increasingly precious moments of human contact the rest of the staff members carefully avoided eye contact with me like I was unclean, even during points where they were no longer busy. Thank goodness I never had to pee. All told, I was in that store for FOUR MISERABLE HOURS, over two of which were spent staring at a fucking loading bar, and only twenty cumulative minutes of which (max) involved actual interaction with a staff member. If you have to go here for anything, make sure to schedule an appointment, clear your calendar, pee before you go, and bring that copy of Infinite Jest or Ulysses you keep telling yourself you're going to read. read more

Called back and waited an additional 12 minutes to speak to someone, finally gave up. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened. Amazing staff! I had iPhone issues so I had to see a technician. This place is currently super packed, so make an appointment if you need a repair and don't have much time. They are open late to accommodate the volume. I went in when they texted me and was helped immediately. I was set up with a technician who knew why I was having my issue, how to best protect the data I needed, and promptly set me up with to have it fixed. After backing up to iCloud I brought my device the next day to be fixed. Again immediate, friendly assistance. They informed me my device couldn't be fixed so they were replacing it, immediately. Since I had backed up everything I didn't have to worry about data. Type in a few passwords and give it time and it was literally all the same on a new device. What could have been a huge headache was actually a very pleasant experience thanks to the team there. Thank you. read more

I was a bit concerned coming into this establishment after reading many of the reviews, but as it was the closest Apple to me, I didn't have any other options. But I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at the service I received. I have previously made a reservation for the Genius Bar because of a broken airpod and came in about 10 mins prior to my appointment time. I was checked in and waited for a little while before a member of the Genius team came to help me out. He listened to what I needed to say about the product and promptly began diagnosing the problem. Within 30 mins he determined that there was indeed a problem with one of the airpods and gave me a replacement with instructions on how to get it connected. This is by far the best and friendliest Apple Store I have ever patronized. The staff are excellent- very patient and helpful. Not too difficult to get an appointment and the classes are not too crowded. I have shopped their stores in NYC, Miami, and recently in Ft. Lauderdale. The latter store (seen below!) is very crowded and noisy - took 6 days to get a Genius Bar appointment. We left the computer for a few hours and when we got home we realized the problem had not been corrected. Will continue to praise Holyoke and its superior staff! read more

I dislike going to malls - the noise, the crowds -- so I was on a mission to upgrade my iPhone. When I realized I had gone to a mall the Sunday b4 Thanksgiving, I was hyper-focused on getting in & out of the Apple Store. Ed was fantastic. He made the trip worthwhile and I was able to relax despite a busy, crowded store. One - because he zeroed in on my mission approach. Two - because he didn't let my mission approach (& technical knowledge) dissuade him from double checking what I needed and what I meant. Three - because he had a sense of humor and perspective about malls, crowds, and my dismay over my iPhone 5S. Sensing an opportunity, I also unpacked a series of Apple challenges I've been experiencing over the last 2-3 years: several older devices, poor internet service, and a need to edit photographs. On top of that, he helped me zero in on an iMac for my 82-year-old non-tech-savvy mother. And then, he skillfully maneuvered another customer service person and a small crowd off of the 27" iMac so I could see apps and performance. Before that, he coolly got another group of staffers to dial down the noise level (apparently too many staffers and not enough customers despite a busy store). All told, I walked away with a iPhone 7 (which I love), a hard drive, and good advice. For DVD drives, he recommended a non-Apple product because of price. In addition, I ordered a 27" iMac for myself at a lower price than I expected to pay (I overestimated what I needed for specs). I'm not going to take my mom to the mall but will have her play with my new iMac. If she likes it, I'll order the low-end 21.5" iMac online. All thanks to Ed. Excellent customer service. I went up to the Apple store and knew that I'd have to wait because I hadn't made a reservation. They gave me a time 40 minutes later but the time came and went and they just ignored me. Can I give zero stars? Wow talk about poor service. We walked in and it was pretty empty inside which is rare. The fire alarm had just been turned off inside the mall so it wasn't too packed. None of the staff came up to offer help. They were so busy being chatty that they didn't notice us when we walked in even though they were right by the door. At least they know how to pretend like they're working? We were wondering about the Apple watches and finally we asked one of the employees; he turns around said they were sold out and went back to talking in his little circle. I'm a local college student and my Iphone 7 stopped connecting to cellular data. After some research I found that my phone was part of a recalled group of Iphones. I called the Apple Store in Holyoke to inquire about wait times and the man on the phone told me there was no wait and to walk right in. I did about 30 minutes later and was told that there was a 2 hour wait. When I mentioned my phone being recalled, I was told that they didn't use the word "recall" and that I was acting as though the phone was going to "blow up"- which I found to be offensive as I was just mentioning what I had seen on the Apple website. Well, I finally get to my appointment time and the employee performed an update that was supposed to work. I left the mall with a working phone, and two hours later my phone completely broke down and told me that there had been an error with the update. Again, I couldn't use any cellular data. I went back to the Apple store the next day without calling because I had already been there the night before and what they had done only made things worse. I was told that I would be seen in an hour, so I waited an hour and came back, which is when I was told to wait another hour. At that point I proceeded to tell them that I had been there the night before where I had waited for two hours and that now I was being told to wait another few hours. The employee who had told me only an hour proceeded to defend himself in a very condescending manner and told me that he said an hour until I should "check back in" and not actually an hour to be seen. So why didn't he tell me that in the first place? I inquired about this and was surrounded by five Apple employees who continued to tell me I was wrong in a very rude and aggressive way. I ended up leaving in tears with nothing done to my phone. All in all I waited at this Apple store for 3+ hours and my phone remains unfixed. I can't make calls, I can't contact my family or my sick mother, and Holyoke Apple did nothing to help. read more

Paid $158 to exchange my defective iPhone 6 plus for a "new" iPhone 6 plus. 2 days later, "new" iPhone 6 plus would go through apple boot screen every time I try to use an app. Go to store and it's always busy and have no time to look at the "new" defective phone they sold me... I'm giving this store one star for the bad customer service I went into the store and stood at the main counter....they had four technicians working for over an hour and not 1 person asked if they could assist me now there were multiple people that came in with an appointment and they were promptly helped....if their policy is they will only speak to an assist people with appointments they need to put a sign on the door or they need to have some form indicating that so that people know if they are in the mall and they stopped by the Apple store they will not get service unless they have an appointment this was absolutely horrible customer service and to top it off as I'm leaving then a supervisor says you're taking care of right and I explained to him no I'm not and I'll be going someplace else for service read more

I was stuck in lovely Springfield, Mass for work for a few days. In the middle of my shoot, my new MacBook Pro power cable fell apart. This is a documented, dare I say "intentional" problem which I have encountered numerous times before. Apple, in turn, makes $80 (time and again) by forcing you to buy them (time and again.) Even when they are still under warranty. I called the store to make sure they had them in stock and not only did they promptly tell me "yes," they asked me why I was asking. Taken aback, I explained. They suggested I make a genius bar appointment to see if they could fix it. Living in New York City, the words "Genius" and "Bar" together evoke countless hours spent mindlessly scrolling my text messages waiting, WAITING, W A I T I N G... for my (3 hour late) appointment. So I hesitated. But the guy on the phone assured me "If you can get here in 20 minutes, you'll be talking to someone right away." And so it was. Not only was everyone beyond nice - they were all knowledgable, helpful and genuinely enthusiastic (I know BS when I see it... Except maybe when dating, but I'll save that for another post.) Within 30 seconds of finding it (It's in the middle of a mall, kind of hard to find, son't trust your GPS,) I was happy to find that, unlike any store in Manhattan, they were glad to help and replaced my power cable when I showed them how easily it ripped due to normal (nay, "hardly any") use. This was such a pleasant surprise I felt compelled to give props. Obviously there isn't much variation in product or service from apple store to apple store, but if you want a great experience and people who really seem to know what they're doing and def enjoy it at the same time - go here. Solid service and great team at this location. I was in and out a few times over the course of the last month due to having a problem with my iPhone 6S that was covered under the basic warranty. The team members I interacted with were friendly, professional, intelligent and above all, genuinely expressed concern over the problem I was having with their product. My issue was resolved in the best possible manner and I couldn't be more pleased. Pro-tips: - Follow the directions you receive in your email when making an appointment online. (ie backup your device, show up on time, etc) - Set aside at least an hour if you're coming in for a service/warranty/technical issue.
