I'm a PC for the record. I do own an iPhone (which I love) but I tend to be wary of seemingly cultish activity. Anyway, the staff at this store is friendly and offer to help but don't get in your face. They are also (as one should expect) pretty expert on things Apple. On my sons recent birthday we brought him in to buy an iPad. He'd been saving for a while and we decided for his b-day we'd pitch in the balance. Everything went very smooth, the staff member helping us was very patient with numerous questions from our 11 year old (not too mention counting out lots of saved dollars from the piggy bank.) The best part was that (with my permission) the available staff gathered around and sang Happy Birthday. This was on a busy Saturday a few weeks before Christmas. I am not a "Mac." I will probably never BE a "Mac." I'm a PC, and I'm fine with that. I do however own an iPod. When my iPod headphones were mysteriously smashed and destroyed I called the local Apple Store and asked if I could simply bring them in and get them replaced rather than mail them in to Apple. The lady on the phone said "sure, just make an appointment online, come in and we'll take care of you." I did just that. It took 60 seconds to set up the appointment. I took the bus to the Holyoke Mall, got there five minutes before my appointment and within four minutes walked out with a brand new pair of headphones. And the people who work there are always nice and extremely helpful every time I walk in there, even if it's just to check to see how my websites look on a giant Mac screen, or I'm taking a Mac "how-to" class that I don't need along with a friend who IS a "Mac." There are also some cool folks working in there who, when they have a spare minute, will engage you in a thrilling chat and maybe even laugh at your jokes. I love my PC, but Bill Gates and crew ain't got nada on the people at the Apple Store. I wish ALL businesses followed their model. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. My daughter s IPhone stopped working for no reason and became so hot we thought it was going to catch fire yesterday. I took it to the ATT Store. They were not able to do much because the phone was a Apple it needed to be taken to a Official Apple Store. They waited on hold for twenty minutes to set an appointment. We drove 40 minutes to this location. The person who waited on us blamed the problem on ATT saying they sold us a phone with non-Apple parts. They offered to sell us replacement Apple parts for close to three hundred dollars but could say it would fix the problem. We got the phone from ATT less than a year ago. They said the phone was out of Warranty because they sold it to ATT over year ago. I went back to ATT and they pull out a brand new phone and compared the two. They were identical. Needless to say Apple is worthless and does stand by their products. read more

They blatantly lied to me, but since everything is verbal, I have no proof. When I purchased apple care on my phone, the salesperson told me replacements would be free, that is the only reason I would pay 100$ for protection. When I broke my phone, I went there and asked for a new phone, and they charged me 50$. I told them that "the guy" promised me free replacements, but they just looked at me like a crazy person. I didn't have the name of the guy who mislead me into purchasing apple care. Since replacements are only 100$ regularly, I actually lost money by purchasing 100$ insurance AND 50$ for the second handset. AND the replacement had the new iOS on it which is a massive problem. If yelp removes this review it is proof of their bias in favor äpfel... Oh yeah and it's like the DMV the way you have to make appointments there for the privilege to fork over half a G. read more

I came here in 2009 and bought my laptop and was VERY impressed with all the people that helped me and every aspect of the visit. However... the last 4 times I've been in the store in the past year were terrible! There are never enough employees to help the customers anymore, and when I finally got one to acknowledge me to ring me up- they just passed me on to someone else, who in turn passed me on to someone else, etc. I was completely shocked at how hard it was to buy something there, and if it were my company I'd be embarrassed. The sales people are very rude- which is sad seeing as how they were so nice 2 years ago. Seems like the classic case of a good company getting too big and not caring anymore. This is not a slam against the store itself but against the company policy. I have the IPhone 7plus just over a year and have had nothing but issues with this phone since the beginning. The most recent is the mic had stopped working. The employee who worked with me on this was pleasant and helpful but couldn't fix the phone and stated that the phone was out of warranty and his hands were tied. I again stated that the phone has been a dud since I owned it and he said he sees it in the files but unfortunately can't do anything. Wanted to know if I wanted to upgrade... no thank you. At Apple Store in Holyoke now for a 1:50 pm appointment - came in early and they checked in my iMac. Was asked to shop a bit then I would be called. 2:10 pm I walk back to the Genius who said - where were you? I said I was on the 27" iMac, waiting to be called. He said I have should have shopped until the appointment time. He says annoyed, "Now we are 25 minutes behind. Have a seat." Unless I'm buying an Apple product I cannot obtain elsewhere I would avoid this place. Twice,within a three year period they tried to tell me my iPhone could not be repaired but I could purchase another from them for a modest $300+-. My iPhones are pristine and always covered and protected. Both times I went to a local repair place afterward (see my review of Phyx)and All my phones need was a Battery! Each Time! And each time Apple wanted my supposedly not repairable phone and my money. I cannot trust this store. And WITH appointments I spent a whole day of runaround BS. This review is, I guess twofold, in one respect it describes how I was treated at this Apple store, and the next a reflection of my experience with Apples customer service. My wife and I have had iPods for a few years now, not because we consider them better than other media players (in fact my favorite toy of this type is the COWON A2), but because they are awfully convenient: easy to update songs, nice small size, and surprisingly sturdy little buggers. That said, I have not had, what I consider, the best of luck with them - I am on my third as is my wife. The one before my latest dieing after only a little over a year. And when I say that it died I do not mean simply that the battery gave out. No, something got so gafarkeled in the thing it was beyond repair. One moment fine the next toast. I hate talking to people on the phone, and dreaded the thought of calling Apple, and 'standing' there before them, like "Oliver" saying: please sir, can I have another?? Then my wife reminded me that they had recently opened a Apple store in the Holyoke Mall. So we went there. The place is well lit, modernly designed, and uncluttered. The store was busy, but not jambed full, with people looking at the products on a long center display you approach when entering the store as well as computers and accessories along both the right and left wall. At the end of the store is where the tech people, or Geniuses sit. I spoke with 3 people before I was able to meet one of their "Genius" crew; all were professional, and courteous. The member of the staff who assisted me was a very nice lady by the name of Beth. I explained to Beth that up until a few days ago the iPod had worked fine. It was well taken care of, never dropped and always protected in its case. I had attached it to my computer the other night to charge it up, iTunes said that there was a problem and that the unit would have to be restored. I attempted to do so but was then told that it could not complete the restore process, that I should contact Apple. So, there I was sitting before her. Beth connected the iPod to one of their computers and met with the same results. My i-P-o-d was D-O-A. Beth informed me that she could sell me an identical unit for $135.00 or, if I wanted something else, she could give me 10% off that item if I recycled my old one. I then explained to Beth that this was not my first iPod; my wife and I have both had iPods that failed before, this one was almost exactly 1 year and one month old, and now it had failed as well so my confidence in the product was not that strong. I pointed out that I have a Cowon A2 I use at work - not an ideal environment - that works like a charm and yet this one, which is never abused, fails. I told her that I would have to think about it and asked her to just give me the iPod back. Beth nodded, understanding my point, but she did not give me back the i-Pod; she just kept typing away on her laptop. She then said, very quietly (so quiet that I had to ask her to repeat it) that she could give me a - I believe the term was - 'customer satisfaction replacement'. A bit suspicious I asked what that involved. She stated that it would only be some paperwork on her part. I was a bit stunned by that one and just said okay. A few minutes later she handed me another, identical, 30 gig iPod and, after thanking her, I left. Although I made no mention of it in the store - it is fair to say that had I walked out of there with my dead iPod I would almost certainly not have been back. Since I left with a new, probably refurbished unit, my faith in iPods is not restored, but I feel better about Apple in general. And now, when we make a rare visit to the mall, we stop in the Apple store just to see what they have - though no one in my house has a Mac... It is a smart move on Apples part. With the onslaught of personal media devices on the market I know I would have found something in short order to replace the dead unit. I understand their trying to sell me a unit first; they've got to pay the bills just like the rest of us. In the end they came through for their customer - a smart and appreciatted business move. I have had an iPhone since 2007(?), when they were first released. I went into the Apple Store in Holyoke Mall a few weeks ago with a known iPhone 6 Plus issue. I was there almost 3 hours and they did NOTHING to help me. They lost all my pictures and my phone still wasn't working right when I left. Their solution for my issues was to try to sell me the iPhone 8. I called AT&T with whom I had insurance and they sent me a brand new upgraded iPhone 7 Plus which resolved my phone issues. I love AT&T. 15+ years with AT&T. I WILL NEVER GO TO AN APPLE STORE AGAIN! read more

Hi so I went to the Holyoke Mall Apple store to buy a cord for my sons I-Pad. The first person I asked said yes they have it. Go straight to the back and the man standing at the next counter will help you . His name is Rick. So I went up to him showed him what I wanted and he perseated to tell me they do not have it or sell it. I then pointed out the man that said they do have it and then he went and got it. I then went to pay for it with a visa gift card and he said they do not accept that. I asked why and he said it is a credit card with no chip. I pointed out that it was a gift card. He then ran it through his machine and said it was declined . I asked him how can a gift card be declined . I even showed him the activation receipt. He then said .I don't know how to do that. When people are being trained they should be trained the proper way and always have someone there that can help people that do not know what they are doing. read more

I had a wonderful experience here with both the sales staff and the tech staff. I did not have an appointment, but the tech staff still was able to assist me within 20 minutes of arriving at the store. I explained that I had the 4th major issue with my MacBook Air in one year. Not only did they replace the entire computer at no cost (not under warranty), but assisted me with purchasing apple care and covering the cost of a brand new case as well. They were not only helpful but patient and helpful, but extremely friendly. read more

This place is a complete joke and even that is too kind a review. The staff are not only arrogant, but they are uninformed as well. Recently, I'd been having some difficulty with my Macbook Pro's SMC. The computer would not connect to the laptop and I figured it was either the cord or the laptop port itself. Thinking it was the cord as it had been in the past, I went to the Apple store to exchange the cord for a new one. The employee handed me the new cord after checking it momentarily at the Genius Bar (What a joke that is; I highly suspect most of the employees need instructions for toilet roll). I had to pay for the new cord as they claimed I slit the cord myself- why anyone would do that is beyond me, and although enraged, I paid the price and left.I drove home (I live roughly an hour away) only to find out that the cord would not charge at all with EITHER of my laptops. I had to drive back that night, as I was on a work deadline. I brought the laptop with me again and they gave me a new cord and checked it without running a diagnostic. It took a few moments for the plug to take-the realised the first cord that they gave me was in fact a dud. They were satisfied and assured me that all was good to go. THE NEXT DAY the computer would not connect, so I drove all the way back and asked for them to run a diagnostic. The one employee in this store with any intellect ran a quick diagnostic and saw that there was indeed an issue with the laptop SMC. He brought it to the back and had one of the blokes in the back take a look at it. After what felt like an eternity, he returned through the door and told me that the piece that connects the charger needs to be replaced and told me that it would cost roughly 755-800.00 for parts and labour. I could practically by a new Macbook Pro for that on ebay or spend a couple hundred more and buy a new one from the store. He couldn't tell me how long the part would hold on and gave me a spiel that this and that needed to be taken apart and all this other waffle. Sensing a hoodwinking, I called PC Doctor and brought in my laptop. The owner, Viktor (who is lovely) took a look at it and told me that it wouldn't cost anywhere near the price I'd been quoted at the Apple Store. It took a lot of self control to not head up there and start swinging a bat through that dump. Upon opening up the laptop he told me that the piece just needed to have one of the couplings soddered-which he did and tested the port with a cord himself and in front of me. Now the laptop works completely perfect and I'm not having to reset the SMC and it connects with no issue with another cord that I bought of Amazon, since even after being fixed the one I got at the Apple Store still wouldn't work. I chucked that hunk of s@ßt into the bin. Good riddance. Never again will I go to this Apple Store. Each time I go there they try to seduce me to buy new products or claim things arent under Apple Care or whatever- The other Apple Store thats further and near Hartford is the one I will be going to if I need any Apple Products- Never had an issue with them. And I recommend PC doctor for any fixing that needs to be done, they're in Feeding Hills MA. Good prices and good work. Screw these jerkoffs here. read more

I wanted to write about my experience at this Apple store to contrast it with the Chestnut Hill, MA store I'd been to the day before. The latter was one of the most negative experiences I've ever had at Apple. The piece de resistance was getting an email from them canceling my appointment because -- their words: "Unfortunately due to a network issue at the Apple Store Chestnut Hill we are not able to open for business." I actually had gone to the store - they were indeed open -- but as written previously in an earlier YELP review, the gal controlling appointments seemed primarily interested in checking boxes and not listening to a client's problem. She assumed we couldn't be helped at Apple and directed us to an external certified repair store. Stark contrast with the Holyoke Apple store. The next day, we went in for our Genius Bar appointment with Rick. He evaluated my son's computer, said it needed closer examination and told us to come back in an hour and it would be taken care of. We decided to grab lunch at the Mall and half-way through got a call from Rick saying it was ready. Instead of the $300+ repair estimated by the appointment gal at Chestnut Hill, Holyoke found it was under warranty and that the hinge was malfunctioning. New screen, incredible fix. I can't say enough good things about the level of professional service I found at Holyoke. read more

I went to the Apple store this week to buy a computer for my college bound son. We put our name on the list and waited for an available sales person. When I noticed three people without customers I asked if we could be helped, "You have to wait for a computer representative" is what I was told. Went in because my iPad was not charging on my MacBook Air. First time I came in they told me it was the charging cable (without doing any diagnostic). They replaced it for me (free of charge) but once I got home OBVIOUSLY it did not charge. I then made another appointment. This time (again without any diagnostic) they told me since its an iPad it will NOT charge on a MacBook air because its too low of a voltage to charge it and since it was close to closing she was basically chasing me out. So.....who am I to second guess a GENIUS? I went home literally with her chasing me away. Guess what........I went home and googled this problem and was told the MacBook Air will charge an iPad but at a much lower rate. Armed with this information I decided to drive 50 miles away to another Apple store. Apple in Westfarm CT. Without me even mentioning this they did a diagnostic and found out it was some software that I had downloaded on my MacBook Air that prevented me from charging my iPad. Now anytime I have any problems I rather drive the extra 50 miles to ensure my problem is fixed the first time. read more

Came in for a mac appointment once and they quickly fixed an iPhone problem as well. Plus, when I was waiting for a repair, they allowed me to park near an iMac and do a project I had. Big shout out to Jonathan Newton a Genius at the Holyoke Apple Store. We are so grateful to him for his amazing service. He went above and beyond helping my daughter get her iPhone 5S back up and running. Her phone was out of memory and pretty much dead in the water. He tried everything and persistently worked trying one thing after another. After close to an hour and a half, she was up and running. He also found away to save her precious original musical compositions that she had recorded on her phone but hadn't backed up yet. I highly recommend this store and their dedicated staff! read more

Great customer service. My genius' name was Gee and he did an excellent job on fixing my phone's battery issue. It cost $80 but he took the time to find me a discount which was great. He could have just told me to pay for a new battery and oh well that's it, but instead he put effort into going the extra mile to make me happy. My phone was fixed in an hour. The only thing I found annoying was the wait time for my appointment which started 20 minutes late but I guess I can't expect perfection going in on a Saturday afternoon. read more

I went in yesterday to get my iPhone 7 looked at since it stopped working. I have had it for 1 year. It was showing "no service" for a while so I tried to update it. It then crashed my phone so that it would no longer turn on. I went to the store to get it fixed and waited for a while to be seen. Once they did, they left me to sit and watch them go through recovery with my phone for about 10 mins. It failed so they just told me that I would have to pay $320 to get it fixed since it was a few weeks out of warranty. My boyfriend was in the exact same situation with his phone one month ago. He was a month out of warranty as well and they replaced it no problem for him. They told me the manager would cut me a deal to purchase a new phone but I would still have to pay $600+ on the new phone over 2 years. Every option they gave me was too expensive, especially on a first year teacher's salary. I went back today to speak with a manager which she could not apparently come talk to me and I got a team leader instead. I brought my boyfriend to talk to them about his previous experience and they looked it all up in front of us. I was told that for him it was a one time thing and the deal they gave me was "pretty good". I used to tell everyone about how great apple was because they would always help you out even if you were out of warranty. They have helped myself, friends and family in the past when in a pickle so I was shocked when I got snubbed by staff through this ordeal. I am very disappointed in the lack of customer service at apple, the lack of answer I got for my broken phone and just the lack of quality in their products. Apple has lost a customer. read more

Given an appointment for an hour later. I'm waiting in the store and two girls are inline behind me and given the same info. They waited 2mins and the tech helped them right away. I was here first and they had the same problem I did with my phone. The phone won't charge. I have bought dozens of chargers and it still won't charge unless I hold the cord hard against it. read more

Weird experience at this Apple Store. At most Apple Stores, I get annoyed by the employees constantly (and cheerfully) asking if I need any help. At this Apple Store, employees slid past me like they were practicing their roles as Halloween ghosts - despite an employee/customer ratio roughly equivalent to the female/male ratio in gymnastics. One employee followed the handful of customers around and wiped each iPhone/iPad/iPod as soon as the customer put it down. I suspect she was bored rather than trying to temper a typhoid epidemic spread by glass screens, but it was very off-putting. Apple sells pricey electronics by allowing people to play with them and fall in love, so why would they make people feel uncomfortable touching the toys? (Occam says: probably not an unreported typhoid epidemic!) read more

I went to get my iPhone battery replaced. The staff I dealt with were all very personable, knowledgeable and professional. They explained very clearly the process and what to expect. They fixed me up perfectly and even took the time to answer a question I had about iMessage. The process took a half hour longer than I expected but otherwise it was perfect. read more

By far the best tech store around, even if it's just for Apple. But these people are so experienced, they know what they're talking about, and they're very kind and patient people. Sometimes there can be a bit of wait but it's always so crowded there and they're doing their absolute best. I went in for a fix on my MacBook, and they only had an available person an hour later since it was their busiest day. We just went shopping around the mall while we waited, ate some food, had a great time and they texted us when they were ready and it was late, close to closing time and you could tell they were all exhausted but we're still the friendliest and most helpful people around. I got my mac fixed in no time and the woman was as excited as I was to get it working, but still in a very professional manor. Honestly this is by far my favorite Apple Store. I SMASHED the screen to my iPad this am. I call the store about 9:30, before they even were open. I got in touch w someone within minutes. Made an appointment for 11:30. Probably in about an hour or so all fixed!! Originally, I was not a big fan of having to make the appointments because things happen unexpectedly I understand why they do it. . Miserable, miserable, miserable experience. Its not that I have waited over two hours here for an appointment and the problem still isn't resolved. The system was down, that I understand. The problem is that it is JULY so I am wearing shorts and a light t-shirt and the air conditioning is cranked up so high that I have had goosebumps for the past two hours and for the last twenty minutes I've been shivering and my teeth are chattering. This is my first time buying something from an apple store. I was excited when they planted one in the Holyoke mall because being an apple enthusiast, I was all set to check it out. Unfortunately, in the many times I've been in the holyoke mall since the apple store opened, I haven't stepped inside, but my heart always skipped a beat haha. There's always a lot of people in there, as any apple store I imagine...and I think I was intimidated for one reason or the other. I've seen other apple stores and there's a wide space with displays against the wall and some in the center. Mostly, it's a store for walking around and trying out pricey but cool items. Anyways, I had an inkling in the back of my mind to buy an Ipod and thought, why not check out the apple store. Seeing as how I would want a mac more than an ipod, I didn't even look at or play around with the computers. I went straight to the ipod touch to check them out, after hearing some things about it and thinking it looked cool from the commercials. While I was checking it out, I don't know if I looked lost but two people asked me if I needed help within a 10 min. time frame or so. I know they probably have a mystery shop where an unsuspecting person from corporate evaluates the associates. But whatever, I responded to the second person. She seemed very knowledgeable about the product and didn't hesitate or shy away when I asked her questions. She showed me what the ipods could do, and was very friendly and showed that she knew something about the products. She even whipped out her iphone to compare, haha. Anything to get a sale, I don't know? But she didn't seem pushy like "Hey! You're not leaving this store, empty handed!" but instead showed interest and explained things to a person with no previous ipod experience, without making me feel dumb. All in all, I bought the ipod. It didn't matter if anyone asked me for help. I just needed an indirect second opinion, and I got enough of one that I bought it. I found it strange that you can pay credit or debit on the spot. I suppose they have cash registers for cash..who carries that much cash on them though? I mean, I guess it's more convenient but it seemed very out in the open...and at one point, I guess my strip was worn out so she proceeded to go to another associate with the "EZ pay" things with my card. It just seemed kind of shady, but I don't know if all apple stores do this. That was just the first time I experienced something like that. We're in a society that people feel the need to conclude a transaction at a counter. Maybe we're advancing in the technological world? haha...that might be the only reason it lost a star. I didn't like the EZ pay thing. It felt awkward...but otherwise, the place is great! read more

I love my Apple products, but when you just want to call and ask a question, and you are stuck on hold for 15 minutes, an the same annoying song keeps repeating (a remake of "Under the Boardwalk", electronic with some annoying girl singing), it kind of takes away from any awesome customer service. This is a great retail store. It's the best way to have a great Apple buying experience. The store is premium built and looks really nice. The customer service is wonderful. There is a "Genius Bar" in every store. There are Apple geniuses that can give you help and support with any of there products. Apple Inc is the best consumer electronics company on earth. It's great that they have such great stores. In fact they have over 400 retail stores worldwide in OVER 12 countries. read more
