Nice interior, not busy on early Sunday night. Service was good. We had a Margarita Pizza to start. Really good crust - nice and puffy on the outside. Would prefer more cheese but overall nice pizza. I had the Mafaldine alla vongole which came with fresh clams, lots of prosciutto and nice pasta. My husband had the rigatoni bolognese and he thought it was delicious - cleaned his plate. I had a really nice evening at AperiBar! I was pleasantly surprised by the food, drinks, service and ambiance. The location is convenient if you're in midtown and I'd go back if I was looking for a restaurant near Broadway. I ordered a margarita which wasn't on the menu but was good and strong, maybe a little too strong! I also had the prosciutto salumi ($9) which was tasty and came with crusty bread. They don't bring bread for the table which was a little disappointing but the prosciutto did come with bread at least. I also ordered the skirt steak ($38) which was supposedly 10 oz but the portion didn't feel that large. I had no trouble finishing it and I could have easily eaten more steak. I think the only reason I wasn't hungry after the meal was because I had the four pieces of bread plus the prosciutto. I will say I have a hearty appetite. The price for the steak entree did seem high given the portion size. It was delicious though! The steak had a chimichuri sauce on it which was so good. All in all I really enjoyed my meal, I only wish the portions were larger given the price. read more

Great relatively new place in the area. Very cozy bar area with arm chairs . The restaurant floor is not big, but very cozy. The atmosphere is very pleasant. But most importantly the food was very good. We ordered pizza margarita, and it was excellent. Pasta was superb as well and Branzino fish was delicious as well. This place. Was so good. Let me preface by clarifying that I am a gal who is into classy restaurant vibes. Like lose yourself in the environment that makes you feel like your best self. The dining area in the photo is on the inside; the restaurant is an interesting structure where you first walk into a sort of bar/lounge area and then a dining area more inside. It's like almost hidden or something. Was disappointed about the bar area until I walked into the dining area and was like ah yes this is what I photographed the outside of the restaurant for to visit later. Second, the service was great. My friends were like an hour late (love you guys..) and I just sat there silently legit reading a book. They just came up to me a few times to ask if I needed anything, I said no and it was kind of weird but they didn't question me. Then, we asked for recommendations and they were really nice and informative about it. Wine rec was spot on and wine tasted great. We got this pumpkin pasta and a pumpkin pizza and it was AMAZING (I think it might be seasonal - sad). But the octopus dish also was amazing (texture, combination of flavors, freshness of octopus, etc.) so I'm pretty sure all their food was good. This was quality. Food and aesthetics and service. I think it's pretty new so there aren't many reviews, and maybe I'm biased or something because it's just on par with my tastes, but 5 stars from me. Good luck getting more business! read more

AperiBar was located in the lobby of the Luma Hotel in Times Square, but was rather difficult to find once you entered the hotel. While there was a small café and bar in the front of the lobby, we needed to continue all the way to the rear of the main floor in order to discover the actual restaurant. The host stand was also in the back of the room, near the open kitchen, which did not help the situation. The restaurant had a modern, upscale vibe, which carried over into their contemporary interpretations of traditional Italian dishes. We enjoyed the snazzy atmosphere and comfortable table, though we found the service to be rather slow. When we finally placed our beverage orders, I asked to sample both the 2021 Borgo Paglianetto Verdicchio di Matelica Petrara from Marche, Italy and the 2020 Fattori Soave 'Runcaris' Garganega from Veneto, Italy. The Verdicchio was a bit too acidic and not fruity enough for my liking, so I opted for the Garganega white wine, which was packed with notes of tropical fruit. I had finished a good deal of my glass before the staff returned to take our food order, which was certainly not an ideal situation. When it came to my meal, I decided to start with the Eggplant Caponata antipasti and progress to the Branzino entrée. The sweet-and-sour, pickled eggplant was served cold and was blended with toasted pine nuts for some added texture. I put a spoonful on a slice of ciabatta that had accompanied my friend's order of whipped ricotta, but found the bread rather dry and bland. The eggplant, itself, was just fine, but nothing special. The server made it a point to tell me that my fish filet would be served medium rare, which had sounded underdone to me, but actually came out extremely moist and tender. It was served with a blend of roasted brussels sprouts, wild mushroom, and raisins, all in a caper brown butter, which continued the sweet-and-sour flavor profile I had enjoyed with my starter. The vegetable medley was tasty, though some of my sprouts were cold and had not been properly coated with the warming butter sauce. Lastly, for dessert, my friend and I shared a large slice of the Olive Oil Torta, which was much drier than it should have been. In addition, the strawberries that were served with it were out-of-season and overripe. All in all, I thought AperiBar was fine...but definitely not up to par with other restaurants by Chef Charlie Palmer. Granted, it was much more affordable than his high-end spots, but the food and service also left more to be desired. read more

I'm a big fan of chef Charlie Palmer, so I was excited to try out one of his newer restaurants. The dinner menu features a lot of shareable plates. The portions are reasonable but not quite big enough to just get one dish per person. We had 3 people in our party and shared 4 dishes: the gemma salad without anchovies, the margherita pizza, and two branzinos. Everything was good and recommendable, but not memorable. The gemma salad was slightly salad, while the margherita pizza and branzinos could have used a bit more flavor. If I were to come back, I'd probably get the same salad, but try a different pizza and other dishes like the artichoke app. It's hard to find a place like this in Times Square, where the food is good, service is great, ambiance is nice, location is convenient, and prices are mostly reasonable. It's a great option for dinner before or after a Broadway show! They have a pre-theater menu too. read more

Had dinner here during my stay at LUMA Hotel, what a gem! It was so good I ate there all 3 nights of my stay. Let's start with the Aperispritz, perfect way to start any meal. Then moved into the antipasti, fresh whipped ricotta with themon and grilled bread was so good, we paired it with the eggplant caponata and added the octopus - I'm not a big octopus fan but my friends are and this totally changed my view! The pizzas straight out of the wood fired oven and the pastas were amazing - small enough that you don't get stuffed, but enough to share so you can try some of each! I highly recommend the spaghetti al Limone - light, fresh and homemade pasta. But I recommend you save room for the best part - dessert! Zafferano was amazing!! We shared one the first night and I got my own the second - so yummy! Atmosphere and staff were lovely and I will certainly go back next time I visit New York. WOW! We are staying at the hotel this restaurant is inside of, and the food is blowing me away. Literally everything I have had in the bar, at the restaurant, and in the in room dinning is to die for. I know we should be eating at other places in the City but it is hard to beat this place. Went here for drinks and lite bites with a friend after seeing it by my job for a few months. The vibe is very low key and I thought it would be a great place to catch up. Let's start with the ladies in black jackets who work here but have a perpetual attitude when asked about how to order or get a seat. Not only do they speak dismissively to you but they also seem annoyed at the thought that you have a question. The saving grace here is a server named Andrew. He has a great personality and honestly saved the day with his Death by Rosè recommendation. He was a pleasure to talk to and changed my negative attitude toward this place. I kept seeing AperiBar in my IG feed and thought I would give it a try. As you walk in at the Luma Hotel lobby you are greeted by friendly staff. I ordered off the restaurant week menu and they start you off with one tiny, but delish arrancini. For apps, I had the mussels with nduja sausage which was great to my surprise, main was the Cacio e Pepe which was swimming in sauce and corn? That seemed odd to me. It would have been better w/o the corn as it made it sweet instead of savory? Even the arrancini had corn? There must be a sale on corns? Dessert was the olive oil torta which was really delish with vanilla cream on the side and berries. I had the special of the month cocktail..Lavazza Espresso Spritz, I made a mistake ordering it as it was too sweet because of the coke? I don't drink soda and switched to the Prosecco which was a relief. I did love, love Courtney's service! She was very customer oriented and I felt bad that I was complaining. The Calabro Ricotta was a ricotta cheese creation with lemon zest and pepper that tasted delicious on top of sliced ciabatta bread. The roasted brussels sprouts (Branzino Scottato) was delicious and the sprouts were cooked beautifully. The Octopus (Polpo) was the best octopus dish I have ever tried. All the flavors blended together for a delicious appetizer. I also had several of the chilled oysters and they made me like oysters again. Very tasty and done very well. For a main course we had the rigatoni bolognese with fresh made pasta and tasty heritage pork. We also sampled some other dishes passed around including the salsiccia pizza which featured fennel pork sausage. The pollo sotto pietra (chicken) melted in my mouth - just had a taste but it was fantastic, We sampled and shared multiple desserts as well. Everything was a delight to the taste buds. Chef Charlie Parmer visited our table and told us the history of the restaurant which is quite new. I highly recommend this as a great place to visit and have a thoroughly delicious meal! read more

I went AperiBar with my friends for NYC restaurant week. The food was mediocre but overpriced. I tried to order gelato with other flavors however vanilla was the only option and it tasted exactly like McDonald's ice cream. The saddest thing is dessert was the best course. Pea soup was cold and spicy, which tasted weird. Spaghetti was too creamy and sweet, and I had to add a lot of pepper to cover the sweetness. In the end, the waitress double counted dessert for our bills, which gave the whole experience an unpleasant ending. read more
