Staff was welcoming and friendly. The food was well prepared and tasty. Would go back. Prices were about right for the quality and atmosphere. Calamari's was perfectly cooked with a light breading, scallop app with lime butter served in a sea shell- attention to detail the shredded crunch on top was next level. Guacamole-fresh, chunky. Bistro 38 salad was perfectly dressed(I usually get my dressing on the side but the apps were so well done, I didn't want to mess with perfection ) For dinner, Chilean sea bass on ratatouille- perfect sear on the sea bass, the ratatouille was a perfect compliment to every bite. This place has one of the best chicken dinners I have ever had. Was in NYC on business in mid-January 2026. This place was close to my hotel and the notices on Yelp looked good. Decided to give it a try. Sat at the bar. The place was not crowded on a Wednesday night. The chicken looked good and I was not disappointed. A large perfectly cooked airline breast with delicious roasted potatoes and sautéed spinach. Chicken, potatoes, and spinach are always a fave choice for me so I was pre-disposed to like it. But this was an exceptional preparation. A perfect combination of tender and crispy with a deep rich umami. I wish I could have this every night. The staff, to a person, was exceptional. I forgot to get a receipt that I absolutely needed. The manager went out of her way to help me. Sadly, I don't live in NYC but I travel there from time to time. Delicious combo of food on the menu. I highly suggest the beef empanadas to start with the guac. I loved the filet mignon and the potato's that come with it are delicious. Came here for a pre theater dinner for four. We had a 5 pm reservation and place was empty but they didn't seat us until all members of the party were there. The server couldn't have been sweeter but it was a full hour from being seated until when the food came out. The scallops with tagliatelle were recommended as the pasta is house-made but the dish was super bland, not salted enough and came with only four medium sized scallops for $32. There were no vegan options at all. I can't think of a reason to choose this place over another in the area. read more

We made the reservation online but there was a glitch and they really didn't have openings but they were accommodating and gave us a table. The place almost immediately filled up and it's not a huge place so I really appreciated it. Now I have to say, my meal was awful! The fish (branzino) tasted like it was frozen, thawed and frozen and thawed again. I cannot explain it but the texture was off and I know because I love branzino and it's my go to when I am at a restaurant. It was slightly mushy, I thought there were vegetables underneath the fish. Came here for a work dinner. They let us sit down while we were waiting for the rest of our party to show up. For apps, we got burrata and octopus. I really liked both though the burrata came with some weird squash that I didn't like at all. For my entree I got Australian lamb chops which were cooked well and came with a balsamic sauce. Service was a little slow in the beginning, I think they were waiting to get any orders, including drink orders, until the whole party was there. We were staying close by but found this charming little restaurant/bar to be so inviting with great quality food and drinks. A very quaint and attractive place for date night or hanging with friends. You will find this place very clean and inviting. As all of NYC the table space is tight so I suggest the bar at happy hour where you will have ample room, faster service and great happy hour value on food and drinks. We started with fried calamari and it was fresh, not overcooked and not over breaded. With a side of chipotle dressing for dipping and wedges of lemon we were off to an excellent start. The Moscow mule has flavor options both mango and passion fruit were satisfying as is the mojito and these all on happy hour too! On special was the nahi-mahi and it was cooked perfectly. I had it blackened and it was not overwhelming the fish it complimented the flavor. The 1/4 chicken in a broth was tender and again the chef added kick but did not over indulge with spices or heat. We had a large party so we were seated upstairs and coincidentally we had another group of friends celebrating his birthday as well. The food was delicious from the scallops to the shrimp to the burrata. The steak was ok but the pork was amazing. Pretty much everything on the menu was tasty. I believe they need more wait staff. The restaurant had plenty of seating on a Monday night but I would make a reservation for the weekend as I can see the place filling up rather quickly. My table ordered the Crispy Calamari and Salmon Croquettes to share. Both were good but the Salmon Croquettes were my favorite. It reminded me of Spanish tapas. For my entree, I had the Signature Short Ribs. The short ribs were nice and tender. The mashed potatoes with gravy and carrots were wonderful. On December 20, 2025, my friends and I dined here and requested that our checks be split. One bill totaled $203.59, and mine totaled $82.75. The manager on duty, Diane, mistakenly charged my credit card for the full $203.59. She came back to the table, acknowledged the mistake, and said the charge was canceled and that my card was then correctly charged $82.75. When I asked for proof of the refund, she stated she could not provide a receipt or documentation and repeatedly assured me the refund had gone through. After checking my credit card account, both charges posted. I contacted my credit card company directly, and they confirmed there is no record of any refund or canceled transaction for the $203.59 charge. As a result, I was overcharged and am still missing a $203.59 refund. This situation reflects poor handling of a billing error and a lack of accountability. I am still waiting for this issue to be properly resolved. read more

After reading the reviews, I decided to celebrate my birthday dinner at this establishment. Our waiter was somewhat inattentive, though not unpleasant. Following his suggestion, we ordered the beef empanadas as an appetizer. They had an unusual taste, which I attempted to mask with Tabasco sauce. I would not recommend them. For my main course, I ordered the churrasco, medium-rare. The first serving was well-done, so I politely requested it be remade. Upon its return, the meat was somewhat tough and lacked flavor, though the chimichurri sauce improved it. My friend ordered the short ribs, which, in retrospect, I wish I had chosen instead. For dessert, we were served cheesecake, which was delicious, but at fifteen dollars, it felt a bit overpriced. Our total dinner cost was one hundred and thirty-five dollars, including a bottle of water. While not excessively expensive, the overall experience left me somewhat unsatisfied.
