Being new to the city, I was in search of a nail salon near me and so I went here based solely off yelp reviews. Fellow yelpers you have led me astray! Worst experience at a nail shop ever!
I went in early on a Monday morning so it was fairly empty a couple of other women getting their nails done. I got a manicure, pedicure, and waxing, the only thing they did okay was the waxing as in I didn't end up without eyebrows, however both the nail techs doing my mani and pedi seemed bothered and uninterested. I dont know if that it was Monday morning that was upsetting my manicurist Michelle but she was super sour faced to the point of being rude. The guy doing my pedicure, Tom could not be more uninterested in what he was doing, he kept looking around the room out the window anywhere but where he was working, and when it came to the massage portion, it was like he was barely even touching me, no pressure at all, super disinterested unenthused waste of time. They kept pushing for me to get a gel mani and trying to upsell everything when I kept saying no they'd talk to each other in another language, whichis typical nail salon custom but why would i want to pay for any extras when they weren't even getting the basics right. I told them it was my first time there and maybe i'd get a gel next time, which was the truth I wanted to see how good they'd do first. I'm sure glad I didn't cave in to their upselling.
I had broken one of my natural nails and I asked the manicurist to place acrylic over it so that all my nails were one lenght, she did it while I was at the pedicure chair and I thought it was kinda odd but I haven't had acrylic anything in a while so I just went with it.
So I went there Monday, by Tuesday my polish was chipping, I didn't expect it to last long since i'd done dishes, washed my hair, etc. But that was pretty quick. I could also tell that Tom hadn't completely taken care of a hang nail I told him I had. Come Wednesday evening, the acrylic was lifting up off my nail and getting caught in my hair, the next day was an anniversary for my husband and I and we were taking a day trip to Catalina so I couldn't go get my nail fixed. Sometime during our Catalina trip, I lost the acrylic nail and now had an unpolished broken nail to accent my other chipping nails, this really pissed me off, cuz not only had they been rude and unattentive while I was there, but they did a crappy job, AND I had tipped them for it!
Come early Friday morning I went back and spoke to the owner's wife, Annie, who had waxed my eyebrows, I explained the bad service I got, that I lost an acrylic and my polish all chipped. She tried to tell me that it was because I hadn't gotten gel polish that it chipped and was pushing for me to get gel polish and that it had been a week already so that happens. I told her it hadn't even been a full week and that my acrylic fell off and when I gave her the name of the 2 employees she decided she would fix my acrylic but still tried to upsell me a change of polish, I told her that she should just fix it all for me since I had such a horrible first experience which made me never want to go back there. She did fix the acrylic correctly this time and did a nice job with the polish change. I dont know that I would go back there still since I had such a bad experience, I don't know if it was just those 2 employees but I spent quite a bit of money there to leave with such a bad experience. I definitely wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone looking for a new nail shop . Matter of fact, I went back to my old nail shop 20miles away within the week to fix all their mistakes. read more
