Coconut soup wasn't bad, but definitely not great. We ordered to-go and when I got home realized they didn't give me any peanut sauce with my spring rolls. Kinda disappointing. read more

I like eating Thai food, and this is one of the great Thai restaurants I have had food from. They're not so authentic when I hear from others and my family, but I like eating their food. The fish patties and pad thai are my favorite selections. Pad see-ew is also great. There's a dish with eggplants that I really enjoyed the last time I visited. Most of the time I order to go because I rather eat at home, but the interior of this restaurant is pretty fancy! I'll eat there again with my family. It' s a good place for kids to eat at because they offer a paper top where the kids can color with crayons. I admit I'm a kid too because I colored and made drawings with them! The waiter there does speak Thai and they did a great job servicing our needs. Food is delicious as a I stated above. Price is average for Thai food. read more

The Red curry chicken was amazing! Great flavor and ample quantity for dad and daughter to share. The basil chicken however was not. After the fact the server suggested to order diced chicken instead to have more flavorful. May try it next time. read more

I am always looking for a good Thai place on my side of town and I was really pleased with this restaurant. I usually get Thai tea, but I was intrigued by the ginger tea and decided to give it a try. It was very refreshing and seemed to also cleanse the palate and cut down on the heat between spicy bites of food. We started with the spring rolls. They were stuffed with chicken, shrimp, and loads of fresh veggies. I loved the spicy dipping sauce that came with them. Next came the Tom Kha Ga which was rich and delicious with just the right amount of heat. We finished with the Thai Cashew Chicken. I wasn't expecting the chicken to be flash fried, but it worked very well in this dish. You can choose your level of spiciness so we went with between medium and spicy and it was perfect. The bell peppers, onions, and carrots that came with the dish had great flavor. It was a really fresh and light dish even though the chicken was fried. I can't wait to go back and give the rest of the menu a try. read more

My wife and I have been here a few times in the last month. We love this place. The food is cheap and delicious. We love the Tom Ka Gai, red curry, chicken peanut sauce (satay) and chicken pad thai. We haven't had anything that is not delicious! The ladies that work here are...well...authentic! They do a fantastic job; service is quick and food is hot. The price is really cheap I find. Went there today for lunch, going tomorrow. Will probably go every day for lunch when I'm home from work. read more

My parents live down the street from this place so I've gotten togo from this place a few times. The first few times the food was pretty good. Unfortunately I cant say the same about the last time we ordered food from here. The curry was extremely watery and there was barely any meat in it. The noodles were really greasy and flavorless. We have been Anothai customers for more than 10 years. We loved the FM 1960 location very much. Once we moved farther North, it was too far away from us, so we started eating and taking out from the Louetta location. We found the food at the Louetta location always slightly less tasty than the one at the FM 1960 location. However, for the last couple of years, quality and taste have seriously detoriated to the point that we threw half of our $70+ order tonight into the trashcan. We are sad that we have wasted food, and we are sad to see this place having become a shadow of its former self. read more

The female owner is very rude! I came in and sat at the bar and the waitress asked where I would like to sit and I said, "the bar is fine." As I was sitting down, the female owner abruptly stops the waitress from handing me the menu and snaps at her in their language and points to a table. The waitress shyly asked me if a table was better. I kindly replied, "I'm fine right here at the bar but is SHE would like me at a table, then I suppose I will go to a table." So I go sit at one of the tables and then she is taking my order and my entree came with a spring roll and soup but the soup has meat in it and I'm vegetarian so I ask if they can substitute an extra spring roll for the soup. The waitress awkwardly laughed and said, "I'm sorry.... My boss does not allow that." Wow! I came here once 3 years ago and remember a rude owner then. I never came back because of that but today, I thought I'd try it again as I was in the area waiting on someone. Big mistake. Same bad energy and rude service as 3 years ago. read more

We usually come here for lunch, or the time between lunch and dinner, and it's usually pretty empty, but I imagine it's busier during peak eating hours because this place is really good! Also, this isn't there only location, so I think they have Thai down pretty good. I like to get the Ginger Lover Chicken, medium spicy. Another fave is the Pad Kra Pow (sp?) with shrimp, medium spicy. Their spicy is SPICY, so I would take down a notch what you usually do. I had hot at first and I was tearing up, sweating and my nose was on overflow, haha. They may have adjusted this a bit because I went to medium but now I ask for Medium/hot. The Thai iced tea is highly recommended to cool off that hot mouth, I love it. The waitstaff here is very friendly and always check on you. The rice is perfect, I believe it's Jasmine...soooo much better than the regular white rice from other places. Place is small, nice inside with red accents. They put down the paper you can color on with crayons. I particularly enjoy this and have many works of art saved in my phone :P read more

So I wrote my original review prior to experiencing The best Thai food in houston and so as a result this place definitely drops to a 3. I had the red curry recently and it just tasted so so bland and super watery. It was such a let down. The spring rolls had lemon grass or something . I would say the spring rolls around the corner are better than this place but that's just an appetizer. Husband liked his crab puffs and pad Thai. But again, nothing spectacular. I actually didn't eat my curry bc it was so blah! Too bad I can't send it back. read more

This is a small, family owned business so come in with that expectation for service and you'll be right at home. We ordered Sweet and Sour chicken which was great. Lots of vegetables and sauce with the meat, which wasn't too greasy considering it is deep fried. We also had yellow Thai curry which was really tasty. Not too spicy but a little bit of a bite. Definitely enjoyable and the chicken was well cooked. Last we ordered the Pad Kee Mao which was also really good. Really flavorful and again served with quite a lot of veggies. Overall the portions were big, the food was tasty, the restaurant was quiet and peaceful and we'll be coming back. Sure it might not look like much from the outside, but the steady stream of take out orders tells me the locals know a good place. read more

Yep, Meh... Hubby and I came here with a Living Social deal because we are almost always in the mood for Thai. The restaurant is nice and I really liked the décor inside. The wait staff was on point, although not really friendly. But ultimately, the food just did not deliver, as only one of four dishes we tried was just right. What we tried was (everything was ordered spicy): -Chicken Tom Yum Soup: They describe it as lemongrass soup, but if there was lemongrass (or ginger) in there, you could have fooled me. Salty and blah. -Chicken Spicy Basil Fried Rice: YUM! The best dish. Tasty and spicy-done just right. -Beef Pad Kra Pow: Flavorful and tasty, but not nearly spicy enough. -Chicken Wild Curry: Lots of meat and veggies, but the curry was just like broth and had NO taste...NONE! Yet was hot (spicy)...can't figure out how they got heat without flavor... Of note: They don't serve alcohol. I don't know if it's BYOB or not. We will not be back. There is another Thai place just as close to home and much tastier, so we will continue to be their customers. read more

Come here all the time when I'm craving Thai food on the a North side of Houston. The prices are reasonable, it's owned by a family and tastes authentic. Not my favorite Thai place but good for close to home. When I come here with my family we normally eat "family style". This is where we order four - five dishes and just share. You can choose type of meat for each dish and spice levels as well (1-5,5 being spiciest). Always get the green curry with chicken and the crab basil fried rice. Other dishes we get vary - chicken pad Thai is my brother favorite and the papaya salad is good too. read more

We are new to Houston and are desperately craving halal Thai. We are spoiled by Noodle Wave and that sets the high bar for us. UPDATE: still searching, Anothai was a fail. Anothai: One star for poor service. I have a major headache just from trying to place a simple pickup order. What is it with oriental women and constantly arguing with you?????? Just shut up and listen to the customer already. One star for pricing. We finally got our food, and two servings of shrimp pad Thai came to $34. Plus tax and tip. The pricing on their webpage and any other online menu is completely incorrect. We got charged $6 more per item than what was published on their online menu. One star for not honoring their lunch specials being available during lunch hours. They made us purchase dinner size and pay for dinner size at 2 PM in the afternoon on a Friday. One star for the food itself. The pad Thai tasted like noodles soaked in red curry. There were no garnishes such as crushed peanuts. The pad Thai was entirely missing scrambled eggs. There was just a sliver of green onion. Totally overpriced for such mediocre quality food and average quantity. Overall rating is one star. Definitely not going back there. Nothing there is worth the price that they are charging you. I'm very disappointed. These people need to change their business model if they expect to stay in business during a pandemic. More than anything they need to change their staff. The last thing I will tolerate is rude restaurant staff. From the reviews below, this is a fairly common experience. Until Houston gets a decent Thai restaurant of Noodle Wave caliber, stick to the next best choice, Thai gourmet. read more

We've been coming to Anothai since opening week, generally no issues and quality was great, at first. Over time we've noticed a decline in quality, but would still come back because of the consistency of the menu items we'd order and, let's face it, this area is a dead zone of quality Asian restaurants anyways. However, today was the final straw. Placed a to go order, arrived to pay (and paid a decent tip), waited a short while and left with my order. I got home 20 minutes later to find that they'd given me someone else's order! Strike 1, but let's be honest, mistakes happen and I was just looking for this to be made right. I called to politely express my slight displeasure, requested that some kind of accommodation be made (refund, credit for a future order, whatever), and was asked to bring the food back so they can give it to the right customer. Ugh, gross? Handing customers food that has been who knows where and definitely cold at this point is a no no. Strike 2. I return, was told no refund or accommodation would be made"they had to re make the order for the other customer so this food now goes to waste, here you can take this with you if you want." At this point, i really didn't press for the refund, but again, politely, expressed my displeasure over having to waste 45 minutes of my time and to only have a server/employee argue with me, only to be given a lecture over checking my order before leaving, after which I left with my food. Strike 3. Get home to feed my father, poor guy had taken his insulin 10 minutes before my first arrival home with the wrong food, was now in a beleaguered state. Upon learning of my less than stellar service experience on the return trip, then called to express his displeasure. My father is not as polite or diplomatic as I am. The lady on the phone hung up on him. I honestly could care less about a refund/accommodation, but the completely unapologetic, blame the customer attitude was much worse than any restaurant I've been to, anywhere. That includes hole in the wall, backwoods places in the Asia-Pac region. That says something... What a sad, sad situation for this restaurant, I hope things turn around for these guys, because with horrible service and declining quality, I don't see this restaurant making it to 2018. read more

Not the best Thai food I've ever had but good portions and value, food was tasty and fresh, and the place was clean and maintained. We got 2 different curry dishes - I should have asked for mine (yellow w chicken) to be spicier but it hit the spot for some Thai. No charge for extra rice, which was good bc a huge bowl of curry came with barely a half cup of cooked rice. Service was slow for a Saturday evening, but my group was pretty low maintenance so it didn't bother us much, but it was definitely noticeable. A decent stop for lunch or dinner, would also be a good place to pick up food to go. read more

Vegan friendly restaurants are hard to come by here outside the loop, love the green curry with tofu! Family dinners are the best here with such large dishes we can all share. Pictured also is the veggie delight with tofu where their house brown sauce is slightly sweet but savory. Also try their fried spring rolls, very crispy and comes with a side of fresh cut veggies. This is hands down the best Thai food I've found in Houston. Almost as good as the Thai food I had while living in Hawaii (but the whole being in Hawaii thing probably is why I favor it). The pricing is very reasonable, they offer lunch portions which are cheaper than the dinner portions but the portion size is about the same. The pad Thai is hands down my favorite dish and their best dish, though I wouldn't say no to anything with shrimp and pineapple. The only thing is I wish they had some sort of rewards program. Pretty good seafood pad thai. Not dry like some others I've had. The calamari was in the shape of onion rings and had an interesting dipping sauce. Unhappy about the tiny pinch of peanuts they gave me, but otherwise, everything else came in large portions, I'm pretty full. Appetizer and plate was about 23$. read more

Excellent, no other word I can use. Be careful of the spice levels, it can be tricky to pick the right one. I had the Thai cashew nut and it had the best flavor and just the right amount of spice (I chose the spice level). My BF has the pad new mao and he also got the spicy level but his was super spicy. In any case, it was amazing. We got combination platter for an appetizer and you better come hungry, it's a lot of food for 2 people. Definitely going back. read more
