I purchased a whole strawberry shortcake from here. A gal pushed down on the lid to close the box, which is too short for the strawberry shortcake, thus crushing the top. Before I left the store, I opened the box and found some strawberries sticking to the lid. I showed the condition of the cake and asked the cashier to get me a new one. Always been a fan of Andersen bakery. Great place to get something reasonably healthy in the mall. Usually the soup of the day with bread gets me energized again. Not many seats so that is why its not four stars. Also service is stretched trying to serve a lot of people during busy times. read more

I used to come here all the time pre-lockdown and the food is always great, service is quick and the staff was always friendly. I came here for my meal from work last Tuesday (5/18) and had a California BLT and only ate half of it. I was sick within a few hours during my shift at work and have been sick for the past three days. I got my boyfriend a Farmer's Chicken Salad Sandwich and he's been fine so I'm sure it was my sandwich/the ingredients we didn't share (like the bacon, tomato, or pickle on the side). This is the first time this has happened to me but I just want to warm anyone so you don't end up feeling terrible for days. We went here in the afternoon and they were out of the pesto cheese bread and garlic cheese bread. All they had left was the jalapeno cheese bread. I pulled out $50 to pay and as I gave this young Asian kid the money, I saw him going through his own wallet. First I thought he wanted to make change for my $50 and then saw him pushed my money back to me. I asked him what happened, he said that he was sorry that they can't take anything anything bigger than $20 bill so he is gonna pay for my order. I am like "wow". I would typically get it w/o grilled chicken but my coworker actually got it for me and what do you know..... I was at Andersen Great Mall today. And I realized that the staffs were not wearing gloves when serving and it wasn't the first time. So very nicely I asked the Asian female staff in her 50+ when I was paying that why they don't wear the glove when they served the food. She told me it was because they used the tong not their hands. So I mentioned that I ever saw the crew used his bare hand to take out the tart from the displayed case. And she put her face closer to me and told me that they are all vaccinated with TWO SHOTS and it is safe to buy from them. I left without continuing since she sounded really rude when pointing out that they all had two shots. I think wearing a glove is really important when you are serving the food, regardless of whether you use a tong or not, and especially using your bare hands is NOT acceptable. Because it is not just about the virus, not just during the pandemic. IT IS ABOUT THE FOOD HYGIENE!!! Anyway, for the past 2-3 yrs the customer service at this location (Great Mall) is deteriorating and the food is not as good compare to the past. Ask for your bread or pastries to be toasted. I am a sucker for warm bread. It's crispy on the outside and soft and cheesy on the inside. Usually I buy them to take home to eat the next morning for breakfast and I would toast it up. As for the soup, I ordered a large tomato ravioli soup. It was delicious. It wasn't as acidic as I imagined it to be. It had tiny bite size ravioli which adds a different texture as you eat it. As you enter, you are welcomed by smell of freshly baked bread (I love it). There was a variety of bread and I felt lots of customers were there just for the bread as the restaurant wasn't filled with hungry customers. The place was empty with just customers around the bread counter. Well, I was very hungry and went ahead ordering a spicy turkey sandwich in whole wheat bread. It was good but there was nothing spicy about it. No sauce was given on the side. Also, the bread was really hard and chewy. Overall, the lady behind the counter was rude. Great place to grab a bite while shopping at Great mall while rest of the places are over crowded , the-staff here keeps the line moving. It's located next to H&M and opposite to 'G for Guess'. They offer variety of breads , croissant, danish , pizza slices, cakes and also offer drinks ( soda and coffee). Love their Jalapeño bread and blueberry danish. Also love that their cake slices are not sugary. Tried the berry roll slice and was yummy .We went on a Sunday evening and lot of things were over , soup wasn't available so will come again and try the things we missed. I'm a huge Andersen Bakery fan. I used to come here as a kid when it was called Grain D'or. This place brings back nostalgic feelings since my mom used to buy me a blueberry pastry whenever I was good while she shopped in the mall. Anyways here are some of my usual orders from Andersen Bakery: Almond Croissant: buttery, flaky croissant filled with almond paste, topped with sliced almonds Pisano Bread: roll with tomato sauce and pizza cheese mix Creamy French: baguette with yummy custard filling Fresh Mozzarella & Eggplant Sandwich: baby spring greens, herb roasted tomatoes, fresh basil, roasted eggplant, fresh mozzarella, balsamic vinaigrette. It comes with no mayo but I always ask for the pesto mayo. Turkey Swiss & Avocado Sandwich: Turkey breast, fresh avocado, swiss cheese, lettuce, dijon/mayonnaise. I always ask for extra pesto mayo instead of the regular mayo. Haha. I usually order my sandwiches on Pain De Campagne bread (Country french with 5% rye). Sometimes there are long lines but it goes by generally fast. It could also get crowded too if you decide to have a seat. If you haven't tried their most famous "creamy French", you're missing out in life. I usually get about 4 of those - sliced, for myself of course. That filling is so addicting. It's safe to say you could tell yourself to stop eating so much carbs, but because of Anderson's, it's seriously the only exception. I've also tried the jalapeño bread, which is my second favorite. Yum. The perfect amount of buttery jalapeño-y goodness. The cream cheese and walnut is another favorite of mine! Who doesn't love anything with cream cheese though...? Lastly, they were playing EDM! I always get the roast beef on french bread with alfalfa sprouts. They make it the best here. The soups are always fresh and ive tried their chicken with fruit salad and that was also excellent.
