12/8/25 Decided to stop for lunch at Anderson bakery. I had the soup and sandwich a half of turkey, avocado cheese and a cup of clam chowder. I was surprisingly happy with the portion and the quality of the sandwich and the soup. Bread was so soft and fresh adequate amount of filling and the soup was so hot. I actually had to wait for it to cool down. It was also full of clams. Then The staff is very polite and efficient. There are three or four young men and I think a lady, all of them busy taking care of business. I like the bread so much ended up buying a loaf to take home. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday late afternoon to grab my Tgtg order. There were a couple of people In front of me. My pick up order wasn't ready so had to wait a few mins for the employee to grab a few things fresh off the trays and/or out of the case. Andersen Bakery has some pretty solid pastries and baked goods for a decent price. I was really surprised by how much I loved their white chocolate cranberry(I think) cookie they added to my bag. It's not my normal vibe, but it was one of the best cookies I've had in quite some time. I definitely recommend swinging by if you are wondering the mall. There very well could be a line, though. So, be prepared for that. Oh! Also, it's located at the opposite side of the mall from the food court. Don't make the same mistake I made. Lines out the door on a Sunday afternoon? Why yes, I'm definitely stepping inside to see what the hype is all about! Andersen Bakery boasts their creamy French bread, and I couldn't help but return to try it out once the lines subsidized. I also had their pesto cheese pastry. At $3-4 for their creamy French bread, it was hard to turn down, and it was quite soft. Their housemade cream was a delight to taste. Their pesto cheese bread, unfortunately didn't hit the same and tasted like any good old instant pesto on bread with cheese. Ordering was quite straightforward with the queue, and the line moved quickly with all the staff. One tip is to get in line to order because those are freshly baked versus the ones sitting out. Outside of their signature creamy French Bread, this did not exceed expectations is unfortunately a spot I would describe as a "one trick pony" with otherwise expected tastes of mall food. read more

My family and I LOVED Anderson Bakery. I remember anytime one of my sisters went to the mall, my mom and I would request them to get the creamy French for us. It's been years since we have been to Anderson Bakery. Based on a couple of recent visits here though, the allure of the place has really worn down for me unfortunately. Honestly, people only really rave about the creamy French here. I've never really heard good things about anything else. As someone else said on here, they seem to be a "one trick pony" which I agree with. I went twice with my bf recently because he had never been to Anderson Bakery. On the first visit, they had posted a sign that due to staffing shortage, they were not able to slice the creamy French. Second time we went, the sign was down, so I asked if they could slice it. They literally did one slice down the middle and not into the small bite-sized pieces. Very minor, but it's the little things. The creamy French itself was pretty stale. I remember it being softer back then. I also remember the filling being more cream-like, but the texture was more hardened on these recent visits. The filling is still good flavor-wise, but overall it's just not as good as it once was. The wait time is also an indicator of them going downhill. The line used to be really long...long enough that sometimes my family would decide it wasn't worth the wait, but now...there's barely anyone there. I would only go back for the nostalgia, but even $4 is pretty hefty for what you get. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way for Anderson Bakery anymore. goods are priced $3-$7. not a bakery that id come back to everyday. i believe goods are all made in the morning, not baked and restocked throughout day like some other bakeries. goods are room temp and reheated upon ordering. fast, efficient service at register. accept cash + card ive tried the curry croquette and the tomato pesto giant bread. have to say, i did lose my appetite after seeing a long hair strand on one of the breads behind the case. the croquette was ordinary. the bread is SUPER CRISPY, cheesy (CHEESE PULL :P), soaks up the oil HELLA after toasting. bread is cut up into pieces to share! i got one of the matcha white choc cookies made by a small business. chock full of chips, the matcha was kinda grassy culinary grade. their goods do not deliver any of those HEAVENLY FIRST BITES sensations. its very one dimensional: butter, sugar, salt nothing that urges me to get up to ask the baker for their recipe. seating inside is classic. dirty and crumbs on floor/table during several occasions (came mid day 12pm to 5pm). a slight wipedown wouldve been nice. read more

Nostalgia. I've been coming to Anderson Bakery for as long as I could remember. When I had a job at Great Mall during my high school days, I would take the stroll across the mall on my break just to pick up a sandwich or a pizza bread. Over this past weekend, I had the pleasure of having lunch with my handsome date and introduced him to one of my childhood favs. We shared a Turkey, Avocado, and Swiss sandwich on a French Baguette. I told him I was afraid it wouldn't taste the same because it's been so long since I last had one, but to my surprise -- it was a complete nostalgic feeling at first bite. And the bonus was that it tasted that much better because we shared a sandwich and as we all know -- food tastes better when shared. The pesto cheese bread just may be all about nostalgia now. I was totally craving this bread after a sub par pesto cheese half bake at Arcangeli in Pescadero. Since then, I've been fiending for this childhood goodie! Just happened to be walking around Great Mall and bam! Andersen Bakery comes into view! Ordered my pesto cheese bread and was asked if I wanted it toasted and sliced! Since we were full, we got it sliced to enjoy later. Verdict: still hands down better than Arcangeli, but not totally bomb like I remember. It was definitely pesto-y and cheesy in the middle with crisp, light bread, but two out of four of the sliced pieces (the ends) were sans pesto and cheese. Pushing it at almost $5 though. I was craving some sandwiches (The chicken pesto and roast beef eaters dream) from Andersen that I've once remembered having during lunch breaks back years ago when I was working at the mall. To my surprise Andersen has totally changed. They now have a self serve bread station and the dimly lit nor maroon apron uniform with white hat workers were nowhere to be seen. The selection also seem to have shrank. At the self service station there were tongs and trays available. I questioned the cleanliness since I was wondering if the parchment paper was left from a previous customer. I flipped through a few trays and saw a few were lined. I grabbed a tray and got a creamy French (a baguette sliced horizontally in half spreaded with custard) and a cream cheese walnut bread (well exactly what it's named; cream cheese with bits of walnut on the bread :P). As I was checking out, I asked if they can toast and slice the creamy French since I've always had that done, however the cashier said he can only toast cheese breads. I looked at the menu for the sandwiches and they no longer had the ones I wanted, so I ordered some sandwiches that sounded the closest. I ended up ordering the roast beef and chicken avocado sandwiches. You are able to choose the type of bread you want. Just to name a few you had choices from whole grain, white, baguette, sourdough, raisin bread, ciabatta and whole wheat. They placed my sandwiches in 2 separate bags labeled and I noticed it said chicken salad. I asked if that was the same as chicken avocado and they said no. Apparently the cashier had ordered the sandwich below the one I wanted. Instead of asking if I wanted it remade they said chicken salad was a popular sandwich and that I should try it. Sandwiches were just ok (weird hard pieces along random spots on the roast beef edges) and the baked breads would had tasted better if it was toasted or warmed. Very poor service. I'm from the Fresno area on a trip and was looking for a drink and pastry. The matcha did not meet any standards. It didn't even have FLAVOR. I asked for a refund nicely. A staff came up to me and said "we have measurements for our drinks and if you don't like it we can't do anything". He just shrugged his shoulders and repeated himself. They didn't hold back on any Ingredients. Avocados where in abundance chance, tomatoes and cheese to. Glad we stopped here. Their "full" salad was a little disappointing as it was in a tiny Togo container I can't imagine was the small looks like. None the less it was delicious. Came at 11:00 am when the mall first opened so we were the first in the bakery. Bakery needs a facelift chairs have large holes with duck tape on them, table we sat at wobbled. Employees were in conversation when my family and I walked in so I initiated the hello. I came for the international cheese bread but they didn't have any out front so you have to ask and they'll get them from the back. Also ordered a Chicken salad On PDC bread which I normally order but had that to go for lunch layer in the day. Which was a disappointment because it was missing apples and alfalfa. We went to the location in the mall and the prices are pretty reasonable and affordable. Got the jalapeno cheese bread for 5.25 and the mango muffin for 3.50. The one problem is they wouldn't heat up our pastries so we had them lukewarm, which I wasn't a fan of. The cheese bread was also fairly greasy but that's okay. Before we had Paris Baguette, there was Andersen Bakery. Few things they do really well here. Creamy French and those jalapeño cheese breads and pesto breads! Reminds me of my childhood. Also liked that they now allow you to grab your pastries which helps the line go faster for those just wanting the pastries/breads, similar to Paris Baguette style where you have a tray and can pick up the choices you want. I am giving one less star because they don't offer slicing of the bread anymore or heating of the bread due to "labor shortage" I thought this was absolutely ridiculous and as soon as you checkout to pay there's a prompt asking for a tip? A tip for what? Not slicing my creamy French and not willing to toast the bread and just packaging my to go order? I was definitely disappointed they won't do basic slicing of the bread and I had to ask for a knife and do it myself since they refused. 2/5 stars lack of customer service. Just hire one extra person to do heating and slicing! Your customers would appreciate that little extra step given the already increasing prices! read more

Conveniently located inside the Great Mall in Milpitas. This place is always busy and attracts lots of foot traffic. I wish they would have more tables and chairs for customers. It's always a full house feeling inside. They need a bigger retail spot with outdoor seating too. Customers are always gathering at the front counter area and undecided on what they want, so expect longer than usual wait time. It would really help them out if spacing/layout was rearranged. The variety of pastries and lunch options are all pretty colorful and delicious. Large window presentation. No wonder it always catches my attention. I usually come here for a quick sandwich bite or grab and go pastries. It's hard to decide when everything is equally just as good in the $4-$6 per piece range. Sliced cakes portions are small and they aren't cheap, so do expect $7.99 and up for each piece of cake. Fruit tarts are always a preferred choice. Try some custard or cinnamon buns, croissants, muffins, cookies, etc. There's a lot to like about their wide selections here, but it really takes time to get what you want.
