It's not very…read morebig, feels a little crampy, dingy, in a rustic neighborhood you wouldn't think had anything worthwhile. Then you find out about this hole in wall spot. My friend said I had to come here. We did. As soon as we stepped out of the Uber the adventure began. The building is so out dated but the entrance door held its charm. Neon lit Edgar portrait reading from a book his Annabel Lee. Complete with a bouquet of flowers. To the right more words of the writer surrounded with a few tables and chairs for those willing to chill in the cold. Inside was no different. Several crows, skulls everything you'd expect. And a well stocked bar. Many writings on the wall, articles, awards, etc all added to the vibe and theme. And of course dimly lit but you could still read the menu. We were guided to the back for our party of 5, in a corner away from everyone else. That made it easy for us to converse as we perused the menu exclaiming this and that of the dreadful names used and deathly ingredients mixed in. It definitely made it more appetizing. After working all day I was ready for a drink and settled on the To Isadore; gin, lavender syrup, lemon squeeze topped with segura cava. That hit the spot. Unfortunately, I had eaten quite a bit on this trip and forced myself to order the Chef Salad. Nothing more to say there. My wife, though, ordered the seafood lasagna. Never had that and it didn't sound like something I could get into. I was wrong. This is Baltimore. The seafood here is astounding. It was delicious and had to take a couple spoon fulls. My friend ordered the double beef patty burger. I was jealous until he offered me a bite. That was really good too, and juicy. If you're looking for an experience and are not too afraid you may want to visit Annabel's. I do recommend it and do insist coming after the sun has been well down.

The drink menu did not tickle my fancy so I ended up just having water. The restaurant week menu was a good selection of their regular menu items so it was an opportunity to try something that I could get again. I opted for the tuna as an appetizer, the whole branzino as my entree, and the zalabia for dessert. Everything was delicious! I would have liked the tuna to be more chilled; it came out closer to room temp. I have no notes for the bronzino. It was perfectly cooked, I really love the time and orange, the olive tapenade was the right amount of salty and briny, and the accompanying roasted harissa potatoes were fantastic. I guess if I had any critique it would be of the too skinny and woody asparagus. The dessert was something I'd never heard of, something like Mediterranean donuts. I really love the pistachios and the I think pomegranate sauce (it wasn't described on the menu so Im guessing), but the addition of chocolate was completely unnecessary and I'm not just saying that because I don't like chocolate lol. After dinner me and my dining companion went upstairs to the speakeasy for a cocktail. I was hoping they had a different drink menu and they did! This menu was much more interesting to me and I ended up getting a a well-balanced gin cocktail. I just read that they are closing to relocate so I'm hoping that I'll be able to go again soon.

We were seated in the upstairs area which where it has 2 bars , order thru the bartender and the food came within 15 mins or so. Vibe is lovely, music on jammin to Bon Jovi and others . And I love the fact it goes out to outdoor seating area with beautiful views. Oh you can also come straight outside if you have your pup with you! Now onto the food, drinks were delicious, my niece cucumber mint mocktail was so refreshing too. And my white chocolate martini was so good! Onto the food, we got whipped ricotta (yummy!) , crispy chicken littles (pretty good), and crispy chicken fried rice. Now on this one, gotta stay I wasn't expecting 2 chicken legs and fried rice... but more chicken, though for the taste, a little bit too salty and mush to my liking . Some people may like it but I'll most likely be ordering something else next time.

Our waiter was fantastic- awesome table side manner, very classy demeanor. Tried the Glasgow cocktail (Johnny black, egg white, etc) but taste reminded me of mezcal and wasn't my fave so sent it back. The rum based drink wasn't my fave either (had a word cough syrup like aftertaste), personal preference. Ended up getting a glass of white wine that was good. Presentation of everything- food and cocktails alike were great. Definitely picture worthy. For apps we had the tuna cannoli which was great, comes with 2 decent sized cannolis, Caesar salad (I usually don't like Caesar salads and order anything this basic but it was actually the best Caesar salad I've ever had and it feeds 3!), ricotta bread thing which was good. For entree ordered the lobster Campanelle- good texture, decent portion to satisfy, just could've bit a tad more flavorful. The apps were better. For dessert had the opera cake which was good. PARKING: Took a few mins to find street parking, we parked by Patterson park a few blocks down. The room we sat in had amplifying abilities, so the one loud table in the corner on the other side sounded extra loud. Must be an architectural quirk.

Indeed, Twist Fells Point will far exceed all preconceived notions or expectations, given the location on the block and the surrounding area. I've visited Baltimore, Maryland, several times, especially Fells Point. Fells Point leaves a lot to be desired, but because of its potential and sense of community, I return often, not to mention the fact that it's on the waterfront. That said, I've strolled down the streets of Fells Point many times and have passed Twist several times, but I've never been censored from going in. I must admit, I judged a book by its cover (surroundings) and assumed I would not have a good dining experience. Oh boy, was I wrong. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff were extremely attentive and focused on creating the best dining experience for me and all customers. If you go, and I pray you due, know that it's a BYOB restaurant and just sitting in the restaurant will evoke conversation as you look around the room and find art and crafts that will leave you feeling nostalgic, that's if you can even keep your head for enjoying your meal.
