Service here was extremely friendly, constantly checking in on us and switching out plates as they got dirty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a small indoor seating area and more seating outdoors in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Came on a hot day and wish there was more cooling but they constantly made sure our water glasses were full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For four people we ordered: Zucchini Bread ~ reminded us of carrot cake in a good way Wedge Salad ~ refreshing flavor, blue cheese dressing didn't taste too blue cheese Elote Agnolotti (favorite) ~ so unique, love this one Chorizo & Clams (favorite) ~ love this one, also unique, I could drink the broth Huitlacoche Cacio & Pepe ~ the black pepper taste was a bit too strong and overpowering for me Carne Asada (favorite) ~ cooked so tender and delicious flavor

To begin, I have to say, the service was great. Everyone was so sweet, attentive and helpful. We ordered with the Spicy Watermelon Highball, Carne Asada & Chile con Carne plates and the Pistachio Horchata Affogota for dessert. The drink was good, no complaints. The food is where we were disappointed. The Carne Asada was tough/chewier than expected. Unfortunate, since the carne is essentially the entire plate. The salsa on the Chile con Carne plate was actually excellent, flavorful; however the meat itself and polenta were just fine, kinda bland. Hoped dessert might be better, but more of the same. Horchata flavor was nonexistent and the pistachio crème was so sparse that we had to scrape it off the side of the bowl just to taste it. Feel bad saying this, but food was simply underwhelming and expensive for what it is.

Came here for Sunday brunch and it was better than I expected. The ribeye chicharrón was my favorite. The chilaquiles were good and probably the best value. The hanger steak was tender for that cut, but with fries it was around $44, so I would skip it if you're trying to keep the price down. The ribeye chicharrón was also around $32. Service was good and everything came out nicely. This place is also part of the Chase dining credit, which is a plus. Overall 4 out of 5. I would come back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a wonderful homestyle restaurant in the Highland Park area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is limited on the street so carpool if possible. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is seating in the front, but I recommend the back patio for more space and the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Reservations are recommended but walk-ins are accepted. The service is very pleasant and make sure to leave your "mark" on the memo board by the bano. Food is served family style and many pasta dishes have a slight spiciness to them (be forewarned). See the photos for all the food, but our stand outs that you probably cannot get elsewhere are the Elote pasta (elote ravioli), Aquachile (strawberry sauce is a perfect accompaniment and the protein so tender), Pistachio Horchata (homemade and can sell out). Everything is really tasty.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute little spot with friendly service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried the elote pasta, zucchini bread, arancini balls with chicken tinga inside and duck pasta. Everything was alright, they definitely sound tastier than they are. The duck pasta was just way too gamey tasting. We couldn't finish it. I would try their cacio a Pepe if I go back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Make sure to ask for seating inside because the patio is not nearly as cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Loved it. Came in for dinner. Inside is lightly decored. Spacing is a bit tight, but they also have a small back patio for additional seating. Coming from a cool evening it did feel a little warm inside. I got the zucchini bread and duck duck duck pasta. It was delicious! The pasta was creamy with plenty of duck. Portions were decent, you'll probably want a pasta and side/small plate to get full. Will definitely be coming back to try more. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

I'd give it like 3.8 stars, just below 4 stars. To start, the service was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive and the food came out pretty quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a tiny hole in the wall place, so not much room to move around and it got quite loud at times (although never so loud that I couldn't hear the person I was dining with).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was cozy and all the glasses & plates were unique, adding to the homey feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite being street parking only, we found a spot relatively easily on a Saturday night so this is not something I would stress about. Honestly the biggest miss was just with the food itself. Nothing was bad, however, despite how beautiful the dishes looked and how interesting the flavor combinations seemed on paper, the actual flavors just felt very one note. We ordered the aquachile, stone fruit burrata, duck pasta, and the huitlacoche pasta. All of them seemed to be missing something that would've put it from just okay to awesome. An example would be that stonefruit burrata dish was too sour / acidic, and would have really benefited from a sweeter element like a drizzle of honey and some flaky sea salt. I think it was worth coming to try something new. The drinks we got were very tasty, but ultimately when I go to a restaurant the highest priority is really delicious food and I can't say that I was really sold on that part.

We were seated quickly with reservations, and the service was good. Friendly staff, even those in passing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio had a nice ambiance, but it didn't match the high price point.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love discovering unique restrooms and nice-smelling soaps on. But this was not it, the restroom had those cheap pink soap you'd find in elementary schools, an odd detail for a place with $30+ priced entrées. We ordered the scallops, potato ceviche, duck pasta, and lobster pasta. The pasta was cooked well but the duck was served as a ragù-style and that made the pasta taste soggy. The lobster was tasty, but overall the dish mostly tasted like spicy tomato sauce. The scallops were fine but not memorable. We enjoyed potato ceviche. Considering the wine pour, $17 is hard to justify.

We recently tried Amiga Amore, and overall it was a decent experience. The service was good--we were seated quickly, and we were checked on from time to time. For drinks, we ordered the Michelada, Margarita, Rosita, and Espresso Martini. I thought the drinks were okay. My husband enjoyed the Espresso Martini the most. For food, we had the Elote Agnolotti, Ribeye Chicharrón, Chicken & Mole, and Duck Duck Duck. The Ribeye Chicharrón was definitely the highlight of the meal. The guacamole and salsa were packed with flavor, and the tortillas tasted fresh and unique. Everything on the plate worked really well together. The Duck Duck Duck ended up being my least favorite dish. I was actually the most excited to try it since I usually love pasta, but it just didn't hit. Overall our dining experience was solid. It was worth a try.

Amiga Amore is a creative gem! The concept and the cuisine are so well executed. The concept is small plates designed for sharing and sampling, so when you read that review below (you'll know which one) you can ignore that clowns review. The chef has blended two amazing cuisines with amazing technique and flare. The taco gnocchi for example, the gnocchi acts like a tortilla and your brain thinks you're eating a taco. I encourage you to eat several bites with your eyes closed, let your palette discover the creativity. The shrimp dish is amazing. You feel like you're eating a scampi, but in Baja. The service is great too, knowledgeable and attentive.

Finally made it to Amigo Amore, a cute little spot in Highland Park area blending Hispanic and Italian cuisines. Made a reservation ahead of time so we were sat once we walked in the door. Obviously went right to cocktails, but they are more soju based, so we skipped the drinks this time and moved on to the food. We started with the Chorizo y Clams. A very tasty dish, hearty and flavorful. The clams sit in a broth with chorizo. beans and fregola and come with a chile arbole bread. The chorizo is perfect, great flavor, and the brand give a nice texture component with the bread. The broth is delightful and perfect for dipping the bread in. Just a great dish. For entrees, we tried the cacio e pepe and the lobster pappardelle. For the cacio e pepe, the noodles were cooked perfectly, not overly aldente but not too soft. Reminded me of Rome. But, in terms of flavor, suffering felt like it was missing. Maybe it's the fresh cracked black pepper on top right before you eat it, I'm not sure, but sometime was missing and that was disappointing. For the lobster pappardelle, this was a very nice dish, had a hint of spice from the chile and a decent amount of lobster chunks hidden within the pappardelle pasta. A pretty tasty dish overall, though this was a special the for the day and not generally in the menu. Cozy, warm and welcoming restaurant in Highland Park serving up some creative dishes. With stopping by and trying this culture blend. Definitely get the chorizo and clams, but you can skip the cacio e pepe. If I head back, definitely will try the pork belly and the aguachile.

Cute small restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. Parking was a little difficult as it's street only but isn't super busy. My party arrived a little after opening but we noticed it quickly got busy around 6PM on a Thursday night and as it filled up it definitely got a bit too loud inside to easily chat. It was also quite chilly inside so make sure to bring a jacket! The three of us ordered the sweet potato ceviche, aguachile, elote agnolotti, the carne asada, and the endive salad daily special! We were completely stuffed and blown away by all of the dishes and flavors but our favorite had to be the sweet potato ceviche. It was definitely the most surprising dish and so refreshing. Overall would definitely come back and try more dishes as everything was delicious. The habanero hot sauce was also delicious to add to a lot of the dishes. I can't usually handle spice but this was well worth it.

Amiga Amore has AMAZING food. Wow. The pastas were phenomenal, tried their famous Elote Agnolotti and I still think about it months later. Duck duck duck was also really delicious, my first time trying duck flavored pasta and it was yummy and not too fatty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All in all a great spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will try their Brunch menu next time.

Sonoratown was our first stop as it was highly recommended by my boyfriend's brother, and it did not disappoint. It immediately earned a spot in our top five favorite taco spots for carne asada in all of Southern California! The location that we went to is located in between Elysium DTLA and Perfumeria Starlux on E 8th St in downtown LA. There is only paid(?) street parking around the area that could be extremely difficult to find during work days. Because we couldn't snag a spot, my friends and I opted for takeout and didn't end up eating until about 30 minutes later. Despite the travel time, the tacos were still absolutely incredible--I can only imagine how spectacular it tastes fresh! My friends and I ordered the carne asada tacos, and my boyfriend opted for the cabeza. Before I even took a full bite, I tasted a piece of the loose carne asada and was blown away; it was perfectly cooked with a wonderful tenderness and deep smokiness. The use of a single, thin, handmade flour tortilla--rather than the standard double corn--was a total game-changer and exactly how I preferred my tacos. The salsas were equally impressive, offering fantastic flavor and a great kick. My boyfriend's cabeza taco was just as standout, featuring super-tender meat with a rich, savory profile. Wowowow! Between the exceptional meat quality, bold flavors, and great value, this is easily one of the best taco spots I've visited. It's a huge bummer that they don't have a location down in San Diego, but we will definitely be back!

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.

I was not aware that there was a rotating menu and was looking forwards to trying the carne asada y papas but it wasn't on the menu. I opted for carne à la parilla and it was as 12oz new york strip cooked and seasoned nicely. It was good but nothing special. The Aguchilies de cameron and branzino was again good but overpriced. The horchata came in a small 8oz cup and was also nothing special. Overall, the nice ambience was the highlight of the restaurant.
