Unless you order contact lenses from them , they will not give the prescription to lens.com. I was trying to place an order through lens.com since I realized American Vision prices are much higher. But they did not cooperate and said that my prescription expires in 5 months so they cannot give lens.com my contact lens prescription. Really ?? Wow . Shame on you Today's date is 7/16/20. Since my last post about this rude place , the owner Edward Teran has called (private caller ID , no number I can call back available ) my cell twice now and harassing me over my initial review. I , now , just got home and looked at my mail, he is now writing a letter(s) with all my private information about my eyesight prescription and my previous lens.com purchase. He then proceeds to explain how much I saved purchasing through lens.com instead of them and was it worth it ? How dare you Ed call me and now sending me letters to my home ? You should have consulted legal advise before you decided to delve into my personal purchases. I think I am going to seek legal counsel against you ED and your store. This is unacceptable behavior on your part. An unsatisfied customer should be able to write an unsatisfactory review without this kind of harassment. read more

These guys are AWESOME. Since I was in town, I went in to AV to help my dad get some glasses and the lady who helped us was SUPER nice. Dad had just gotten his eyes check at another vision/glasses place a few doors down and we WOULD HAVE gotten his glasses there, but the person there kept saying something which I knew to be wrong. They kept telling us that my dad's insurance only covered $130 when I KNOW it covered more ....as I had just gotten off the phone with EyeMed. I didn't trust them because they had first said there was a $30 copay for the exam, then when I said that it should be $0, they corrected themselves. The doctor who did the exam as great, but the person behind the counter just didn't seem like she was telling the truth... so we went a few doors down to American Vision. Sure enough, AV said we were covered for $300 with $0 copay. Nice to have competent and honest local folks to deal with. read more

Don't hesitate to use American Vision in Lynbrook. During the height of the quarantine for COVID 19, I realized that Walgreens cancelled my last order due to a mix up with my prescription expiration. No amount of pleading with a supervisor would help. Due to a recent eye surgery I have to wear one single contact lens or wear my old glasses with a patch over my left eye. I couldn't get in contact with the doctor who performed my surgery due to the pandemic. I called Eddie at American Vision and he was able to help me right away. I was down to a month's worth of lenses and wearing glasses really would have made it difficult to do my job. He is a life saver. My last visit was 2 years ago, so I was due for a new exam and glasses. I have VSP for my insurance and saw that American Vision accepted my plan. I am very happy with one of the most thorough exams. I had a great selection of frames to choose from and found out that because this location is a Premier provider, I was given an extra $20 off of my frame. I worked with Victoria, the manager, who asked all kinds of questions so she could recommend the right frame and lens style which would be the best for me. What I was most impressed with was that they took the glasses I bought 2 years ago and updated my prescription which had changed quite a bit so I could get used to the new prescription before the new ones arrived. This is the best. Have tried other places for eyeglasses in Long Island and they were nightmares - terrible, high-cost and quite nasty service, wrong prescriptions and ill-fitting contacts most of the time. They also have a way of crushing negative reviews. American Vision, on the other hand, is in a class by itself. Great exam by the wonderful Dr Elyse Decker and I had a great pair of glasses THE NEXT DAY! The prices are about half of what my ophthalmologist charges and his glasses can take a month to make. My family has been to a lot of Doctors offices who sell glasses, but never been to a place so professional as Lynbrook's American Vision The examination by my VSP Doctor..Dr Howard Margolin gave me the best Exam I have had in years. Then the store staff spent about 15 minuets just asking questions about my Job what I did, sports and life style. Then showed me glasses I just loved. I had ordered a Valentino frame with AR and progressive lenses. Funny they said it was not what I could see it was I couldn't see,,, Now I think I see too much! We have priced over the years so many places and no one came close to this place for quality of work and best prices. I may be prejudice but I have been going to the Lynbrook branch for so long, I might have my own file cabinet of purchase slips of glasses I bought there. What brings me back is that when I encounter a problem (life is not perfect and sometimes problems arise from the lenses or the frames itself because of the shape of my face & head), I always receive satifaction even after the purchase. The key to me is that I get the same welcome treatment before the purchase and after the purchase from the staff. That I followed him all the way out to Lynbrook--and I do mean way out: I live in Commack, Suffolk--should tell you how much I value his care. As someone who has experienced what passes for an "eye exam" at the chain stores, I recognize what a superior service Dr. Margolin provides. Look no further. This is the only place to get your eye exams and glasses. I have to share my story. My 17 year old son broke his glasses and decided it would be a good idea to throw them away. I called American Vision to find out how much they would be to replace without insurance....$775. Wow! Around a 1/2 hour later Ed called me to say he heard the conversation, and would replace my son's glasses at his cost. Who does that???? Only a great business person who cares about his custombers. Came into the store with a question about glasses that were purchased elsewhere and Ed and his amazing staff helped me correct the issue with my glasses, deal with credit card company and insurance company. The people who work here are very nice and they always help you without a problem. They give you what you need and they don't try to sell you on anything that you don't need. I would strongly recommend American Vision. First of all, as someone who had Covid 6 months ago, I was so pleased to see they adhere to CDC safety recommendations. I felt very safe.
