Speaking only on sales associates. I Bought my son's first pair here. That was fine. Went back with a new prescription and the sales associate made me walk out the door. It was a blessing though. What an absolutely awful experience. I had absolutely no problem with the initial exam, the glaucoma check, or the examination by the optometrist, including her refraction. The problem arose when I came back to the store to pick up my glasses. This is not my first rodeo with eyeglasses or dealing with optometrists. When I walked in, I introduced myself to the optician with whom I worked originally and said "oh hi, I'm glad it's you" and it was all very pleasant. She has me sit down went to the back to find my glasses and she came out and put them on the table. It has been my experience that normally, an optician will take the glasses, spray them with cleaner, wipe them with a cloth to clean the lenses and then put them on me to be sure that the fit is correct, behind the ears and on the bridge of the nose. This person, Tymequa, was having none of that. And these being graduated bifocals, it is of the utmost importance to have them properly positioned on the head. She didn't bother with that. When I looked up, I had difficulty seeing, and my vision was not clear. It didn't occur to me until a minute or two later, when I took the glasses off and held them up to the light, that I saw that the lenses were filthy! She didn't offer to clean them. We got into this discussion/argument about whether I was holding my head correctly. And I told her that the distance was not good and that the near vision was off as well. Things got very heated very quickly and she told me that I would deal with the manager. The manager, Caesar came out, and was no better. These people do not listen. All they do is interrupt and keep talking and keep talking and keep talking. At some point they need to listen to the patient. I offered to go out to the car and bring in a pair of graduated bifocal lenses that are perfect for me. I suggested they put them under the scope and compare the correction with the glasses that they made for me. That was not happening either. At that point, I simply walked out with my glasses and called corporate. I'm now waiting to hear from corporate and I certainly will not go back to that location to have anything adjusted. PS: When I got home and sat down at my laptop in my chair, the dnear vision was unusable for reading 24 inches away on my laptop, and the distance, looking up at the TV, 20 feet away wa marginal. And yet I must have four other pairs of glasses, all graduated bifocals, and all work perfectly for all distances. I guess you get what you pay for and this place is in dire need of restructuring and re-instruction of the people who work there on how to deal with customers, even if they are perceived to be difficult. read more

Picture shows glass lenses AFTER they have been cleaned by Visionworks! Notice the left lens and how awful it is. Horrible quality lenses. I purchased the most expensive lenses the establishment offered on Dec. 2023 (1 yr and 7 months ago); scratch resistance, fog resistant, transition, super thin, pretty much the Mercedes Benz of lenses. I figured since my insurance only pays for glasses once every two years, if i get all of the bells and whistles they will last me the full two years. Fast forward to today. The right lens is perfect, clear and no issues but the left lens is super smudged. No matter what I do I can't get them to be clear. I went to the store to get the store to do something about it because it is obviously a defective lens. They start telling me how i don't take care of my glasses and it is my fault. My response; "how can it be my fault if one side is perfectly fine and the other one is messed up. They both had the same exact treatment. Its not like i can take the lenses apart." Their response, "if there isn't anything else, you can either buy new lenses or leave as there isn't anything we can do for you." Very bad lens quality; definitely not worth the $610 I paid for the lenses alone! Don't spend your money here! In addition, I clean my glasses with specialty lens wipes from Zeiss. read more

My daughter spent an hour picking black rectangle frames that flattered her face. She was so excited to pick up her glasses after waiting 2 weeks just for it to be the wrong frame. The manager Caesar brought out clear round frames that weren't remotely close to what we picked out. Instead of just apologizing on behalf of the female employee that helped us, he tried to blame the lab for choosing the wrong color. The representative told me about my insurance coverage as well as specials that they were offering. I decided to get new eyeglasses as well as sunglasses. It is extremely tough to get an appointment here and even harder to reach them by phone. Protocols for entering and exiting the store due to covid adherence aren't explicitly stated on the website and can cause room for misunderstanding when you actually visit. I had Dr. Tam as my optician and she was great. Friendly but professional and she helped sort out an issue that I'm having. Answered every question and was great with my 12 year old step daughter during her exam. Then, we had Nancy, the one in charge of contacts. No good. A little background - I'm a 33 year old professional adult, not a child, and I've been wearing contacts for 16 years and glasses for longer than that. Dr. Tam prescribed me a new daily lens, with the option to go back to my regular ones. Straight forward. Unaware of what my husband's insurance covers, when she asked how many I wanted, I said the one month is fine because I'm not even sure if I'm staying with these or going back to my old brand. Why waste the contacts. Well, immediately she said "you don't wear your contacts everyday "? No ma'am I don't. I wear them a few times a week and my glasses otherwise. Well, insurance covered four months, so, moot point. When then Nancy does her job and tries to sell a membership to Visionworks for 9.99, that comes with certain benefits. I have no problem with that; she's got a job to do. What I do have a problem with is how she responded to my no thank you to both that And getting a pair of glasses along with my contacts. (And it was a real "no thank you ." I was polite the entire time. ) She said something to the effect of "so, you don't want glasses even though you only wear your contacts a couple times a week and you mostly wear your glasses?" And this was said in a total shitbag tone of voice, implying that I'm lying about something? No ma'am, don't need the glasses because I have two pairs... and I'm not a child. I can keep a pair of glasses safe even with near- daily wear. Imagine that. At this point she got a bit huffy and quiet. Good. You're lucky I was in a good mood.... dont get pissy with me when you fail on the upsell. Now on to Maria, who fitted the step daughter for her glasses. Luckily my husband dealt with her. She tried to upsell on the lenses, as they always do, and when declined she tried again, claiming it'll help her see better. Um, no. My second visit to another Visionworks. Same excellent results. Today's visit was due to a broken nose pad! Catherine promptly called the previous store to obtain the date of original purchase. Unfortunately, they were not under warranty. Made up a file and passed it onto the optometrist, Marie. She located the pair I had, albeit in a different color, transferred my lenses into them, adjusted them and sent me on my way. She also mentioned an upcoming promotion that would allow me to get spare pairs in case of any other mishap. I was in an out within a half hour. I couldn't be more thankful to these two women!! Previously I visited Visionworks in Central Islip last summer for an eye exam and eyewear for myself. Today I visited Davis Visionworks for my daughter's first eye exam. When my 7 year old daughter's school recommended she have a comprehensive eye exam completed with a professional after failing her school vision test, I didn't know where to start. Luckily my daughter's Child Health Plus insurance covers her annual eye exam and a complete pair of glasses under $100. I made an appointment and received text notifications weekly which was very helpful. The staff was very kind and professional over the phone and in person. When we arrived we scored a parking spot out front at a meter. We were greeted by the front desk staff who had my daughter's file prepared and we completed initial information and met with Dr. Romain. Dr. Romain is actually the first African American eye doctor I've met with since wearing glasses at the age of 8. She was extremely kind towards my daughter and made her feel at ease for her first visit. She explained each part of the exam from the pressure machine, letter, color and depth test. I found her to be very thorough and knowledgeable. She did not over intimidate or try to force a glasses prescription on me. I will be returning for my daughter to have her eyes dilated and examined closer before deciding on a eyeglasses prescription. We took a look at the variety of glasses for children and there are a lot of modern styles and colors to choose from at great prices. My daughter really wants a pair of glasses now. It's unfair to even give one star to this office. By the time I was even helped by a staff member they signed me up 10mins after my actual "tele health" appointment. They prompt me to sit and wait, just to come 5 mins later to tell me they canceled and I had to reschedule. There is no actual doctor to see you in person, and could not accommodate the fact that 10mins had passed. They also refused to give me the name of the doctor that was supposed to see me. I had an altercation with Valarie at the front desk, I had an appointment which was confirmed and when I got there she said I did not make an appointment and that I would have to wait until everyone was seen. I asked her how long would that be because I had already paid for 2 hour parking. The lady refused to answer my question and told me to leave her store. I asked her if she owned the store and she told me to get out. I spoke to management about her unprofessionalism. Valarie went into the computer and found my address and she and her family came to my home harassing me, they even came onto my FB page and harass me. My boyfriend met with Dr. Romain. she was very helpful and knowledgeable, and explained everything so clearly. The real star of the show, however, was Nancy! Nancy did my boyfriends contact lens training session. She explained everything really well and my boyfriend was able to pop his contacts in on the first try! After being a loyal customer for over 10 years I'm appalled at the Rude, Arrogant and Condescending treatment I received by Tamara F.. I brought in a pair of glasses that had broken that needed to either be replaced or repaired. While it's true they were out of warranty, as a courtesy this person in the store said "I'm the DM and the best I can do is sell you a new pair and give you 25% off." she gave me an a take it or leave it attitude, so I simply left the store. I had purchased approximately 10 pairs of glasses over the last two years and didn't appreciate her arrogance. I called their Corporate office and was promised a call back from one of their Customer Service Managers. Well that never happened. I guess they think they are the only store around that sells eye glasses. Guess what Visionworks, you're not and I for one will not shop there any longer. if anyone is in the market for new glasses do yourself a favor and shop at a more reputable operation. They had old information, would not look up my current insurance and said I wasn't eligible for an exam. I never changed my appointment. The place was so disorganised that no one knew what was going on. so much for making an appointment Never again. The worst. My husband and I walked in to a friendly environment at the front desk with Valerie. Then, in less than 5 minutes I saw Mr. Hewitt with my husband's glasses that had broken, but he said it wasn't repairable. So, my husband decided to get new glasses and when Claudia tried to pull up my insurance information, we found that JCP had to release it. All this was done promptly by Claudia. Then Joel helped my husband with his glasses. Lo and behold my husband bought 2 pair if glasses and they even accommodated us with the non fixable ones! I have been going here for years along with my family and I have always been happy with them. Today, I stopped in with my husband and checked if they had any openings, they were unable to take us but Catherine at the desk helped us by checking eligibility and noted the glasses we were interested in for our next visit. I'm SO over this place. Every time I come here I always feel rushed! One time in particular, I arrived at about 3:30 on a Saturday (they close at 4 which I was aware of) and It took a while before someone greeted me because they were too busy counting cash and trying to close early. Now I get it we all have lives, but what about Customer Service???? Why should I feel like my service has to be half assed because you guys are ready to go home? So unprofessional. Then once we were helped the man was totally rushing through explaining different lenses, I just left. I My Dad also has had a bad experience here. He called to see if his glasses were ready to be picked up because sometimes they're done a lot earlier than the expected date. The woman on the phone says "Well its on your promissory note, right now we're kinda busy", LIKE WHAT???? so you're too busy to tend to a customer AFTER you've already received their money? I had an appointment few weeks ago. When I arrived I assume I could walk to the counter where the front desk was located. I was screamed at by two staff members to not come any closer and don't pass the desk that had the warning sign. Yes, I overlooked the sign which was my fault, but the tone in their voice was boisterous and It made me irate the whole time I was at the store. After taking my temperature the staff member poured numerous amount of hand sanitizer in my hands as if I could not do this myself. They made me feel like I had COVID 19 the way they screamed at me and gave me hand sanitizer. I later heard personal conversations. For example, one staff said she came in today to do a favor. The other staff that was helping me stated she had to leave at 6pm because she had an important appointment. Mind you it was 5:45 at this time and she was looking for my records in the computer still. At this point I felt they did not want to be there and I just wanted to get out the store. When my glasses was ready I did not receive a phone call I got an email instead. If I did not check my email I would have never known my glasses was ready. When I picked my glasses up the staff member ask me if I ever straighten my curly hair. I was thinking to myself where is this conversation going?! And she was the staff member that screamed at me at previous visit. I really did not want to converse with her I just wanted my glasses. Then the other staff member came with my glasses and told me she like my hair and wish her hair could have the same curl pattern as mines. I said thank you and left. I was not interested in making small talk because they were unprofessional the first time I went. Yes, I love my glasses but I will not be going back to this location in RVC because of staff. read more

Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! The optometrist was nice, however I ordered glasses for my son and after close to two months I called wondering where the glasses were. When I called I just got the runaround. Spoke to a person at the desk who told me the glasses came over in a month ago!?! Really and you never called us?? I asked to speak to a manager because it's upsetting that no one called. The manager Gabby called back and said the automated system tried to call me. I told her it absolutely did not and I'm in sales and live by my phone. I even checked my phone and nothing. She told me it is the customers responsibility to call and find out if our glasses came in!?! What?!? I gave you over $200.00 and I should be calling to find out ?!? I COULDNT EVEN BELIEVE HER SAD ATTEMPT TO COVER THEIR MISTAKE!!!I I asked her isn't there a human being that would logically see that these glasses have not been picked up and try to make an actual call to the customer?!! I have insurance on my glasses and my dog chewed the one lense. My husbands glasses got chewed last month and they fixed his progressives without a hitch . My reading glasses she said where only for manufacture defect. I asked what if I stepped in them? She said, well it's a case by case instance . I said you keep changing your story . Then she told me they were from 2017 and I know that's incorrect . They are the only glasses I have and I told her that. She basically changed her story every way and I still left without glasses . I will never go there again. I will try another Davis Visionworks but i have never been so poorly treated! I had by far the worst experience here. There were 6 people working, none of which wanted to help- they continued to carry on in private conversation. After waiting an hour to simply ask how much it would cost to put lenses in a frame- I took my papers and left. I never got to ask my question or find out the answer. The workers were less than helpful and quite nasty. They also told me they were in network for my insurance and they started an authorization- they were out of network and I would have had to pay out of pocket. They tried to scam me. The next eye glass place I went to had to call and have them delete the authorization so I could get my glasses. SCAM ARTISTS. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I took my four year old to get his first pair of glasses this week, and although he was excited (as if he were getting a new toy), I was a little nervous about how this would go. The employees made the process seamless and made all of us feel very comfortable in the process. They encouraged my son, joked with him, and complimented him so that this unfamiliar process became very pleasant for all of us. Plus, his glasses were ready before the estimated date! I am long time patient and customer of Davis Vision. I started going there over 25 years ago because they were one of the groups that accepted my CSEA Vision Plans. The staff on the most part have been very professional, pleasant and courteous. According to my plan I should be able to receive a free pair of glass every year. However either my frames were not in the plan, or the lenses were a upgrade that was not covered. So my free glass always cost money out of pocket. Last year was the worst. I was able to find frames that were covered, WOW, the first time! Than it was the lenses, do I want; No-line Bifocals, different lens material (Some lighter and thinner than others), non-glare, scratch resistant coating, ultraviolet treatment, transitional and last but not least high definition lenses. My free glasses cost over $350.00 out of pocket! Plus I didn't get all the options.....High definition lenses cost $600.00 more!!! For this I blame first my insurance company limited coverage than Visionworks. Some of these options should be standard with the lenses such as scratch resistant coating and non-glare. The second is their so called buy one get one free. It is not free you still have to pay for the upgrades on the lenses. To make matters worst, I am disabled. I had to take a ambulette to pick up and have the glasses adjusted. They lost my second pair of glasses. They were apologetic, said they would make them again. What they failed to appreciate it would be another two to three weeks, plus it is not easy for me to get there. They offered me nothing for my inconvenience!!! read more
