I gave the optometrist my glasses and a prescription saying the glasses were perfect and I wasn't sure if the prescription was correct. He chose to fill the prescription. Needless-to say, it was incorrect. He blamed the writer of the prescription saying he was trying to trick me to have anyone else filling the prescription make the wrong glasses so that I would return to him. He then used my glasses to get a new prescription. The glasses he made caused me to see double. He again blamed the old optometrist. He had me come in to see his optometrist for a brand new prescription. I was kept waiting for over 45 minutes, during which time the client scheduled after me already entered. The doctor checked my eyes but "didn't bring his equipment to test for prisms" - the one problem that the glasses he gave me had. But he promised that for the next exam I would be his first patient. The next week I showed up and lo and behold the doctor was with another patient. He told me he didn't realize he promised me the first appointment and said "I guess I need a REAL appointment book". The glasses that were then made were still wrong and made me see double. He refused to refund my money and I am still waiting for a solution. When I originally ordered the glasses I called after over four weeks because I hadn't heard from them. I was told "The glasses are here but I don't know if they came back from the maker or weren't sent out yet. I'll call you tomorrow to let you know. Four days later I called him because I hadn't heard from them and was told - Oh yes, they're ready. I don't know why you weren't called.

I do not like going to Oceanside. I had an awful high school experience and I get an eerie feeling whenever I have to go there. With all that being said, I had an unpleasant experience at Nassau visions today. My girlfriend came with me today to Nassau visions because I do not like driving to places by myself. I had to wear my girlfriend's glasses to drive. I told the three receptionist (I'm not sure why there's three people there) that I had to wear her glasses. There was no comment made about me wearing her prescription lenses at that time. Anyways, I go to the back with the optician. When I come out of the optician, I saw my girlfriend very upset. I ask her what's wrong. She says, she will tell me later. Yada yada I pick my glasses out and sample contacts. Pay for it and leave. I come to find out from my girlfriend later that the THREE receptionists ganged up on my girlfriend and gave her sh*t about her letting me drive and I shouldn't be wearing her glasses. My girlfriend doesn't even have her license. There was no one else who could get me to the appointment except me and I wasn't paying for an Uber because I feel totally FINE driving. It wasn't a problem. I do not know who these elitist, bogus, hateful, disgusting, and meaningless tyrants think they are. I'm through being talked down to and that includes my girlfriend. Many are not. And many also have so all kinds of arbitrary "rules" that make getting a basic pair of glasses so much grief. For example, some do not have walk-in appointments and take days before they can accommodate you. Others will not read your prescription off of existing glasses, as used to be quite common. I went to EconoVision, a very nice shop on Long Beach road and met owner Joseph Pacht. A TOTALLY CHARMING man in a jacket and tie. Totally old school and polite. They were open, no appointment was needed. And while they did not have an eye doctor, as theirs of many years recently retired, they would have a new one next month. Regardless, they were perfectly willing to read the prescription off an existing pair of lenses. Joseph pointed out their frames on sale for $99. The selection, while not huge, was more than adequate as many were very nice. So nice in fact, that I picked out two frames and asked how much the actual lenses would cost on top. To my happy surprise, the lenses and frames were BOTH included in that $99 price! What a throw-back! There was no upsell, and no pressure. The glasses were both ready in under an hour! This was the nicest and easiest purchasing experience I have had in a long time. It's the way things used to be, and I wish still was. That sort of kindness and service is unfortunately rare today. Honestly, the amount of time I had to wait at the eye doctor today was genuinely absurd. Like, I'm…read morenot even exaggerating when I say I feel like I could have completed an entire semester of school in the amount of time I spent sitting there. I walked in thinking, "Alright, this shouldn't take too long," because how complicated can an eye appointment really be? Apparently, extremely complicated, because somehow I ended up waiting for what felt like approximately 47 years. I got there, checked in, sat down, and figured they'd call me back pretty soon. Nope. I sat there. And sat there. And continued sitting there. At a certain point, I started questioning whether I was actually at an eye doctor or if I had accidentally signed up to become a permanent resident of the waiting room. I watched people come in after me, check in after me, sit down after me, and somehow get called back before me. I genuinely started wondering if there was some sort of secret VIP line that I had not been informed about. The worst part is that every time someone opened the door, I thought, "Finally, this is it." And then they would call someone else. Every. Single. Time. Eventually, I stopped even looking up because I had completely lost hope. I could have brought a sleeping bag, a pillow, a Nintendo Switch, three meals, and a change of clothes, and I still probably would have had plenty of time to spare. At one point, I genuinely forgot why I was there. I started staring at the walls, reading every single sign in the office, looking at the eye charts, examining the fish tank--basically anything I could possibly do to entertain myself. I became more familiar with that waiting room than I am with my own house. If someone asked me where the bathroom was, what magazines they had, or what color the receptionist's chair was, I could have given them a full tour. And then, just when I thought surely I had been forgotten completely, they finally called me back. But even THAT wasn't the end of it. I thought getting called back meant the appointment was finally going to happen. Instead, I got brought into another room and proceeded to wait AGAIN. So apparently there was a waiting room inside the waiting room. It was like an eye-doctor-themed escape room where the objective was simply to see how long I could remain patient before losing my mind. By the time the actual doctor came in, I had aged approximately six years. I was no longer the same person who walked through those doors. I had experienced things. I had seen things. I had waited. And honestly, after all that time, I expected them to at least congratulate me for surviving the experience. The whole appointment probably took about 20 minutes once everything actually started, which somehow made the waiting even more ridiculous. I spent what felt like an entire geological era waiting for something that was over practically as soon as it began. I genuinely think I spent more time staring at the waiting room wall than I spent talking to the actual eye doctor. So yeah, overall, fantastic experience. Nothing says "we value your time" quite like making someone sit around long enough to reconsider every decision that led them to make the appointment in the first place. Next time I go to the eye doctor, I'm bringing snacks, a charger, a blanket, homework, and possibly a tent, because apparently I need to prepare for an overnight stay.
