AMAZING! Dr Doan was very nice and thorough. For the first time I did not feel any anxiety during the exam. They also have a different machine so you don't have to do that "blow air in your eye ball" kind of test! Hilma was very nice and helped me find a pair of glasses that I loved! I did not feel rushed and I also did not feel like they were trying to sell me the most expansive thing in the store, they look genuinely interested in pleasing and make sure I liked what I was getting regardless of price. The doctors are so thorough! I had an issue with my eye which my previous optometrist couldn't diagnose, but this doctor was so patient and not only found the problem but also fixed it! I had such an issue with the billing here, though. Sharon originally told me I didn't have any vision benefits (despite me stating I have never paid out of pocket before). After I paid, I reached out to my Insurance and they were able to verify that I did have active vision benefits and this office was a participating provider. When I called back, Sharon gave me such a hard time, never admitted to being wrong and never apologized for the run-around! In the end I did receive a refund, but make sure you know your benefits before being seen here. read more

I have needed glasses for a very long time and have avoided getting them at all costs. I have been paying for vision insurance at work so I figured I might as well just go for it. Funny enough, Optix happens to be a client of mine, so I figured I would give them a shot! I went for an eye exam at Optix (they took me RIGHT AWAY with no appointment!) and was amazed at how helpful and professional they were. The glasses came in when they said they would, they properly fit the glasses for my face, and were an absolute pleasure to deal with. They also have a really impressive selection of frames. Just received my new glasses which capped another amazing experience that was started with great service and ended with a great product. A week ago I went for my exam and brought my 3 year old for his first ever exam. I technically only had an appointment for me but they got my son in as well. Multiple Doctors on staff so the wait wasn't long at all and they made the experience for my three year old so enjoyable making him laugh and teaching him about eyes. They even gave him a children's books about eye glasses! The glasses I bought feel great and they made a small adjustment to my prescription but made a huge impact on the clarity. Have gone to other eyecare places in area to get new glasses and they woefully fell behind in pricing, fitting, stylish choices and general knowledge of what they were selling. Overpriced. It was almost $200 just to get new lenses put in my old frames! And they don't even do it in-store, they send them out which takes 2 weeks. Also they convinced me to get the most expensive brand of contact lenses so that was another few hundred. The staff was fine but not too friendly, kind of impersonal. Will not return. read more

Bought an very expensive pair of glasses here a little over a year ago and the earpiece came off the glasses. They determined it was a mechanical issue but said there was nothing they could do to fix it. They would not contact the manufacture or at the very least give a discount on new pair.... They could at least have prorated and give a little break. But they did nothing! Very poor customer service! read more

Place has been horrible since it changed from optix. The cost of everything isn't revealed until the end and by that time you find out you are overcharged. Even after you've settled the bill and paid whats on the invoice, three months later corporate sends you a bill telling you you still owe money. Horrible business practice and they can't seem to keep track of what was paid. Good thing I kept the receipt indicating everything was paid in full. If I didn't have this proof, they probably would have wrongfully placed it in collections. read more

I need s change from my old eye center and found Optix in my.neighborhood. They took my insurance Check!! From the first call to make the appointment they couldn't have been nicer. We got an evening appointment and didn't wait for more then 5 minutes. They were efficient and professional through the whole exam and frame finding. Peggy was great helping us pick out frames. I picked out a pretty expensive pair of frames and there was no issue finding something a little more in the budget. It was a great experience . Totally recommend them. read more

I came in for my annual exam and new glasses. I have Davis Vision insurance. My exam with Dr. Zalaznick went very well. I liked her a lot. When I went to shop for glasses I picked a few and asked the woman for the prices...$350+, $550+, $650+. I was also told my progressive lenses WITH insurance was $225. I explained I could not afford any of these glasses and would have to shop for my glasses elsewhere. They said bye-bye. Later that night I realized they had to have glasses that would cost me NOTHING $0 from Davis. I called in the morning and explained the situation to Peggy, the manager. She said to come in and she'd show me those glasses--which were somewhere other than the showroom in a drawer. Peggy also told me I could only fill my Davis frames and lenses with Optix and I had to order them within a week of the eye exam or I would lose my benefit. I didn't say I didn't like the selection. When I was there, after my exam I said I couldn't afford them. She did not say "oh well we have other frames that would cost you nothing from Davis." Nope. They let me walk right out the door. Upon speaking to Davis I learned I do not have to get my glasses through Optix and I don't have to fill it within a week. Davis also told me their frames are supposed to be displayed on a tower in the showroom. Why are they buried in a drawer somewhere? Because clearly it is not worth their time to fill a Davis prescription because they will not make $500+ on a one pair of glasses. Needless to say me and my family will not be returning. read more

The initial person who did some testing was ok. Standard. Doctor was good. She was young and attentive. Sharon the receptionist was pushy but accommodating. Everything was adequate until I went to decide on glasses or contacts. The girl with the short hair gave me a hard time. She was cold and unhelpful. Maybe her name was Jen or Judy. She had brown short hair and blue eyes. She showed me glasses but I didn't like any and decided I wanted to get contacts. I could use my benefit towards either. We sat down and she told me the price for the contacts I wanted. I had 2 prescriptions. One old one new. The one I wanted was More then I could afford from this building even with insurance for a few months supply. I could afford online though with my coverage. The other prescription wasn't what I really wanted. I asked for my new prescription and she said "I cannot give you that the doctor isn't here". I felt stuck and she wasn't helping me. I felt I had to buy the old contacts from them I didn't want because she wouldn't give me my new prescription. I paid and left and was infuriated and unsatisfied that I couldn't get any of my prescriptions (as promised by the receptionist and DR 3 days before). Now they can tell you whatever you want about how this went down however I'm a healthcare professional myself. I've spent my whole life wearing glasses and dealing with insurance both as a professional and as a customer. I advocate for my patients everyday. I wasn't satisfied. After calling my insurance company and confirming that I would indeed be able to buy online and get reimbursed I went back inside and demanded my order cancelled. ***********They MAGICALLY PRINTED out my 3 PRESCRIPTIONS which I couldn't have 20 MINUTES PRIOR******Hopefully they canceled the claim or I'll have more to report on for future customers. The receptionist apologized for her not giving me my prescription. Why I give 2 starts versus 1. This place is good for people who don't care about money and like designer everything. If you want a good deal and don't want to be sold and just want your damn prescriptions. Think twice about coming here. If you want to feel respected and get what you ask for don't come here. I first started going here based on good reviews. At first they were great. Sharon is the best and very kind. She is the only good thing about this place. She gave me free contact samples to try until I was happy. They do a great eye exam. I will give them that. Unfortunately though they are not good with kids opthamology. I brought one of my kids in for their first contact lenses and the girl Nicole or Brianna was rude and frustrated easy. She should not be teaching. I had to bring them in again as time ran over, after an hour. Second time I asked for someone else. It went okay but it wasn't a good experience for my teenager at all. I went again for myself no issues. But only got contacts through my insurance at the minimum order. Brought my other child in and I just found out they were huge on the UPSELL. First off they tried to convince us that they needed these huge frames as their selection for this age was very limited and in hingsight that is all they had available. There were only two frames for this age, yes two. Then they tried to sell us progressives , transition lenses, and the works, so even with my insurance the glasses came out to close to $500 for one pair. Good thing I hated the frames! I took his prescription somewhere else. I asked for the same as I was told at Optix. This other place told me he doesn't need progressives as he is too young for bifocals, and that the transition lenses people do not like and since he is not driving it is not a necessity, to think about it. I never told this place I had a budget or anything like that so I appreciated the candor about what my kid really needed in their frames. All in all, with my insurance I spent $200 for not 1 but 2 name brand frames at this other place. Like I said Optix wanted close to $500 for 1 pair of plastic no name brand frames for a child?! I am very disappointed in Optix now and definitely never going to them for frames or lenses again. read more

The staff seems nice but the prices are outrageous. I went to get a pair of glasses for my 6 year old son and they wanted to charge me $235 for the frame alone. These were plain plastic frames. They weren't made of titanium or had bendable frames. I want to support small businesses but they were almost double the price of other stores. Sharon, at the front desk, is SUPER helpful, always helping me schedule an appointment, order contacts or buy new frames. Wow...I should have read these reviews more thoroughly before going to Optix. While I had a positive experience with my eye examination, I paid almost $1,200 ... apparently for the examination, contact lens fitting and new glasses. I was only informed that they decided not to apply my insurance coverage (and to apply a "promotion" instead) after I questioned the total. To my knowledge my insurance coverage was supposed to have included (covered) the cost of the contact lens fitting and new frames (at least according to the insurance carrier's literature in which Optix is listed as a provider), leaving only the lenses to be paid for out of pocket. However, I am not certain what the $1,200 included because they did not provide an itemized receipt. When I gave the person that was assisting me my credit card, she asked if I was going to put the entire purchase on that card. She seemed surprised that I could pay for the purchase. That was insulting, but I was too surprised by the prices and their lack of transparency during the billing process to be bothered by her odd question in that moment. read more

I had a great experience purchasing new frames today. Judy was extremely helpful and patient while I chose which frames I liked and offered her opinion without being pushy. I have a very small face and have difficulty finding glasses that fit, but Optix had a huge selection and I was able to have a choice between many different types. I came here because I had just been accepted into the Glass Explorer program and they were one of the certified Glass installers for prescription lenses. It was about time to get my eyes checked anyway, so I did that too. From start to finish, everyone was extremely friendly, courteous, and professional. I had a wonderful experience! They were knowledgeable and were able to answer all of my questions. The installation of prescription lenses I to my Google Glass frames was flawless. I also got a regular pair of glasses for when I can't wear Glass and those are also wonderfully done. I am very pleased by my experience here and have recommended them to my glasses wearing friends and family! I just can't overstate how professional and just outright awesome they were at Optix. I started going there after I had Lasik 3-4 years ago. Initially I saw Dr. Joel Kestenbaum, and he was great. Nothing against the other doctors, but the last two annual checkups have been with someone else, despite specifically requesting an appointment with Dr. K via their website. I have my suspicions that he retired and is only the name on the door nowadays. The doctors and techs are capable and all are professional, however. They did misplace my prescription at the end of my last visit in March 2016, so I had to wait an extra ten minutes for that.. They also assumed I was going to buy glasses, which would defeat the purpose of spending thousands at TLC for Lasik. read more
