I've gotten my glasses there for several years, but the last pair I got were awful. One of the earpieces was longer than the other, and the lenses kept getting scratched up, even though I had paid for scratch-resistant lenses. I've been wearing glasses for years and I've never had that problem before. They did replace one set of lens due to this, but the new ones scratched just as badly. When I picked up the glasses, I laid them on the counter and they were clearly uneven, as one earpiece laid flat on the counter and the other was up in the air. I pointed it out to the guy and he grabbed them, bent one earpiece, and then said "Here, ok?" kind of rudely. They also have a limited selection of glasses. I always had great service visiting this shop. I got my prescription eye glasses and sunglasses a couple years ago here. The consultant helped me choose the perfect pair for me. I recently came back here to get the lenses of my sunglasses replaced since they were scratched. They were fixed by the next day and they even had adjusted my lenses to make sure the glasses were tightened. The location shares the small lot with three other businesses, but I never had an issue finding a spot to park. They do accept most insurances, but if you're not sure, it doesn't take them much time to check. read more

Personally, I had a really great experience here with glasses and contacts. My son 10 got two pairs or really nice glasses. They were running a buy 1 get 1 special and I was able to get both in less than 24 hours. I was so happy with how easy this was, I brought my daughter back the next day. She has a different type of insurance than her brother. She got the most beautiful Versace glasses. More than half was covered by insurance as well. There are several people that work here and everyone helped my daughter pick out her glasses. When I'm ready for glasses again, I will DEFINITELY be coming back. Classic bait and switch. I walk in asking for an eye exam for glasses, the guy behind the counter asks if I have insurance, I say no, and he says o.k. And tells me it going to be $18.00 and proceeds to write that number down on his pad. What a deal, $18.00, how can you go wrong. I even have a $20 in my pocket to pay. I have the exam and reach into my pocket for my trusty $20. That's when they tell me if I want a copy of the prescription it will cost $39 for the exam. Really? How does that work. C'mon guys, if you would have leveled with me up front I might considered buying my frames there. Apparently you get a $21 credit if you come back for the frames there. Just tell me the truth, when he wrote down $18 on his pad I really believed him. If it sounds to good to be true.... Just be wary here. So this is what you get for $500. Generic run of the mill frame ( Chinese junk unfortunately. I was able to find the exact frame for $14, these used car salesman charged me $150), standard market lenses and an exam . What a bargain. I decided to give this review based on my experience last evening at the location in Massapequa. I've been using this location, primarily because they are the ONLY one that excepts my insurance. The eye doctor is exceptional and by NO means are apart of my review. The staff is exceptional and is not part of my review. This review is based on ONE PERSON, the owner, Jeff. When you are there for a visit and to fill prescriptions, he remembers you and treats you well. When you have an issue with your glasses ie: readjustment, breaks, etc... he treats you like a stranger. Yesterday, my 6 month old glasses lost the arm, just broke off. It was the 3rd time I needed to bring them back to be fixed in 6 months. Jeff offered me a new pair, but charged me $20 for them. Saying my warranty was up (30 days) and because I didn't take out the extra insurance on them, he had to charge me. Mind you, he never put the money in the register or give me a receipt. I had been a loyal customer for more than 2 years and I expected a little kindness, guess not. I will also be contacting the manufacturer, for two reasons. Should I have been charged and to get my $20 back! read more

Was on holiday in Massapequa and my host recommended I go to WizeEyes to get my eyes examined.When I got there, I stated the reason for my visit to the clerk and she put me immediately in for an appointment. I had to pay the consultation fee, then I took a seat and waited. About 15 minutes later the clerk got up and directed me to a room with the usual eye examination equipment. Then this elderly man walks in, about 75 or more years old.. He told me to sit in the chair and he proceeded to put the lens changer on my nose, turned off the lights and start the test. "Better or worse" he shouted, I hesitated because I wanted to make sure that I could see clearly through the lens. "Better or worse" he shouted again, when I said I was unable to see clearly he hurriedly changed to the next lens and same impatient questions continued for the rest of the test. This guy gave me no chance to properly make out what I was reading.I was taking too long for him, and he was an impatient person. I have visited other optometrists in my life time but this one was like walking into the twilight zone. My husband was very upset with me, he suggested that I should have indicated I wanted to get out of the chair, and not continue the eye examination because I was not comfortable with the atmosphere. I know he was right, I should have paid whatever fee they charged me for discontinuing the exam and get out of there. I had problems with the long drive to Massapequa that is why I let my host persuade me to go to this place. My glass are not up to standard at all, and the reading glass are helpless, I cannot read small print. The cheap frames are a disappointment but the lens were very expensive. I have no one to blame but myself, I should have been more assertive. I had to share this with other folks so that they would know what to expect when they go there. Peace! read more

There was a certain pair I wanted that they did not have at the time. They took all my information and style number and were able to find them for me in less then a day. Rip off!...This place is a scam...They market themselves as a discounted eyeglass and contacts store and it coudn't be more untrue....First I picked out my contacts...when I went to order it they said it was about $33 per box...so when getting a bunch of boxes it adds up. I asked if they were comepttitive with oline stores and they said yes so I purchased them trusting him (Jeff). Later on I searched the contacts prices online and found stores selling each box at $17-$18/box...HALF! Of what they sold it to me for. When getting a bunch of boxes or started to make a really big difference... Next I picked out my glasses... Without even getting into the lesnses he gave me a price on the frames I picked out. $240. Once again after the fact I looked up how much the frames cost online and I found the same exact frames everywhere with prices in the $80 range. 1/4! of the price he sold me the frames for. That's just disgusting. They completely rip you off!...400%...that should be criminal. And this is for healthcare products............ So I had paid in full even though I shouldn't have and when I went to pick up my stuff I wanted to talk to them about price. Guess what. Nobody can talk about price except the 1 manager who was off. This place has 6 stores! 6 stores!...I asked if somebody from another store can help and they said know. This place with 6 stores, a corporate number with an opperator to pass transfer calls and set up appointments, advertising everywhere and lots of employees and you mean to tell me that know body can help with pricing? Give me a break. I traveled from far because I thought I would be getting eyewear at great prices . I work 12 hours a day , 6 days a week and just couldn't go back another time to try and fight with someone only to tell me again that nobody has the authority to deal with pricing. I never write reviews but the way the company takes advantage of people gave me plenty of motivation. I would never recommend this place to any one. They should be ashamed of themselves for the way exploit people's needs and act like they are giving you a great deal while they knowingly are making a mint off you. I will be spreading this throughout internet as I am appalled by them....Good Luck to everyone else and advise any one to please take my recommendation seriously. Oh and by the way, look up the BBB (Better Bussiness Bureau) rating on their website. On the scale of A+ to F they list Wise Eyes as an F!... Here is their reason why... After buying several pairs of eyeglasses from this location, I haven't had the best customer service experience. I think Wize Eyes has fair prices and a good selection of frames, it's just this particular office that I don't really like. The office in Westbury is way more welcoming and willing to help you pick out your new glasses. read more

In November 2018 I went to Wize Eyes in Massapequa to buy glasses, I am a long time eyeglass purchaser and thought I would try and shop local. It was the absolute worst experience I have ever encountered. I should have went with my first thought and that was to leave. I bought a pair of glasses and left feeling over charged, so I went to 2 other local eyeglass stores and was quoted a price of $150.00 less for the exact same glasses. Then when I got home I went online to find out I could buy them online for $250.00 less. I called Wize eyes and they told me a manager would call me back, needless to say no one ever called. I went to pick up the glasses and again asked to talk to someone about the price and was told they were on vacation and would call me. No one ever called me back. To make matters worse the lenses were supposed to be made the thinnest possible and were not, they are much thicker than my other glasses. I paid top dollar and got bad customer service and inferior glasses. Since then I have bought 2 pairs of designer glasses online for less than I paid for 1 inferior pair at Wize Eyes in Massapequa. Wize Eyes in Massapequa should be ashamed of themselves for never even calling me back. An expensive lesson learned, its online shopping for glasses or box stores for me in the future. Upon learning their outrageous prices for glasses I said no thanks & went to pay the $18-, but they insisted on a $39- price if you don't buy glasses. their online and print ads do not mention this, but they did pull out a mini blurb pasted onto the rear of one of their computer monitors. Beware...when they tell you that you have 90 days to return the glasses you purchase what they really mean is you can get a credit for the store. I asked questions and was told I could return my glasses for ANY reason within 90 days, I brought them back because the rx was wrong and decided I didn't want them at all, they actually smirked and said I couldn't actually return them that they would just fix the rx or get different frames. I have made purchases here before for designer frames and spent hundreds on glasses for my family. I haven't had a problem with a pair before. I am not one to jump the gun and make a bad review however when they kind of laugh while telling you a direct contradiction to what they previously told you just to sell something that is terribly wrong.
