She guided me through the frames, gave honest feedback on each pair I tried, and genuinely helped me choose the best one. Once I selected the pair we both agreed looked great, checkout was fast--and I even received a discount on my frames. I was out the door by 2:01 PM, if not earlier. Truly quick and efficient service. This review pertains to the Davis Visionworks located in Massapequa NY: Both my spouse and I have been wearing contact lenses for over 20 years without ever having an issue with any other vision provider. We were forced to use Davis Visionworks due to an insurance change. We cannot recall all of the poor events that occurred attempting to get an eye exam and contacts. To start, the Davis Visionworks automated phone system is painstaking and time consuming, not to mention does not properly serve the user. We saw Dr. Krikland, who appeared to be inexperienced. That observation was compounded when she made multiple mistakes, causing us to return to the store several times. Upon receiving an automated call that once again our lenses have been delivered, no one in the store could find them. Additional errors like reversing the prescription (left vs right), placing trial lenses, as well as purchased lenses in incorrect boxes e.g.: Differently scripted. Getting pricing seemed to be impossible. Staff members disagreeing with each visit, as well as staring into their screen for what seemed to be an eternity, with no concrete answer. Add industrial air blowers attempting to mask the sewer odor emanating throughout the entire store, vowing us never to return. read more

Initially came on the weekend (Sat, May 28th, 9am) for a walk-in appointment and was told I would have to wait after people with schedule appointments. Which I get but these people were later and/or not present in the store for their appointment. I came again during the week and was helped by Elizabeth. She was informative, honest, and fair. Said eyeglasses cost slot and my insurance covered only part of the cost. My most recent appointment was not honored despite informing the staff I took off work. My appointment was delayed, due to a storm that killed power - bad enough, but when I went in for my appointment today, I felt rushed through, no questions about any problems I might have - so I mentioned "I have been having trouble with...." - which was basically IGNORED. Rushed through the glaucoma test, and another that wasn't identified for me (I should have been told what the next test was for...) Then into the exam - he barely looked at me before flipping the giant binocular in my face and asking 'this or that' (nevermind the screen he wanted me to read was out of view - and his hands were in front of the lens often...) I finally moved the unit myself so I could see the screen... Funny thing, I could read the screen OK once the device was out of the way... No discussion - "follow me" he takes me back to the showroom and tells me to shop for frames.... no discussion, no "you need reading, driving, distance, whatever" Here's where it really went downhill - I had picked out a couple frames (I have the frames I want already anyway) and was waiting my turn.. A woman walks in, says she needs her new glasses adjusted so they don't fall off her face! - so she can take the DMV eye test friday! The younger guy there tells her she has to have an appointment - she's upset of course - says again she has to take the eye test for her driver's license in 2 days.... This goes back and forth 5 minutes - FINALLY the woman doing fittings says she will take care of the lady when she's done with appointments (and I was next) - "THAT IS HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A CUSTOMER" I said - the guy is acting like a little boy. I reached my limit - if that is how they treat a returning customer - I don't want to deal with them -they don't want me for a customer! I got up, and told them the lady could have my spot - I'll take my business elsewhere. "I don't care" That is what the employee said... Davis Visionworks - if you want my business, you will have to terminate that obnoxious idiot. I've waited all day for a phone call from a manger. From start to finish I had nothing but a bad experience in this store. The Dr barely looked at my glasses I had to advise him to check my reading portion of my eyes. After that it was all downhill. So now I'm sent to pick out my frames. I understand a global pandemic is happening & I work in the medical field so I understand. So now I'm given a box & advised if I touch it I have to put it in my box to be cleaned. Completely understandable. So I'm not really seeing anything I'm wowing about so I ask as I see all pairs of glasses lying around. " can someone clean the frames not being used?" Now my boyfriend finally finds parking in the overcrowded parking lot & he comes in I then explain what happened. I ask again... can someone please clean the the frames & I see a woman who has about 40 plus pairs of glasses in front of her & I ask a worker if they can ask the woman if she's done with some of the frames so I can review them & again I got told no I can only choose what's on the shelves. So I'm not happy I settle for an okay frame & I now wait for a man to help me. Again global pandemic he's likely you have to sit behind the line. We both have mask on & these are my eyes you're about to mess with. But okay. He's half paying attention & he starts to measure not getting anywhere close to me. Again understand the times. But if a dentist another drs can get near you why can't an eye dr with masks on. So he's trying to measure half listing to what I'm asking for & he forgot my transition didn't ask if I wanted any bells or whistles or go over any promotions or offer me any help in picking stuff out nothing just pay me. So now we leave I'm so unpleased with my experience I forget it & go about my day. So a little over a week I call to check on my glasses I have a woman who answered the phone & I ask. I would like to check if my glasses are in. I get asked when did you come in I said a week ago Saturday. I get in response nope not in it takes 14 days. I then ask are you going to take my name. She said nope not In it takes 14 days. About an hour later I get a text & an email "my glasses are in " well that's funny snotty girl I the phone couldn't be bothered. So now I make my appointment online to pick them up & comes the following Saturday so now 2 weeks after my appointment. I call cause I'm running late. Bad day. I ask is there anyway to move my appointment back I'm just running late. I get told no schedule is full can't do. We got nothing. Take your appointment or don't. I then ask are you even going to ask my name. She said nope I see your appointment 4 pm. I then say again I Understand your booked & I'm in a bind, hoping for a little empathy & I get told. " I told you we are booked we will see you at 4pm" I almost fell over. I then replied with worst customer service & I'll see you at 4pm & hung up. So when I get there & get my glasses I then tell the wonder nice woman helping me what happened from start to finish & she was the ONlY empathetic one in the whole office. The black older man who was the only one working went over what was owed and said he put it my insurance and it only covered part. At that point desperately needing my contacts i paid the 400 bill. I then called my insurance company only to find out that the man never ever put my insurance through and lied. These people are crooks and that man was very shady. Do NOT come here please! I made an appointment at this location several days ago for my lunch hour. I must have received three texts a day about my appointment. If they were running late, you would think I would get a text about that. I got to the location and was told the doctor would be with me shortly. The assistant took some eye measurements and information and I was told the doctor would be out shortly. I was outside the door where the doctor was evidently with another patient and all I heard was the person talking about personal things with the doctor through the door. I waited almost 40 minutes and was still not seen. The doctor came out and continued to talk at the front desk when she knew I was waiting and no one seemed to show a sense of urgency that there was a patient there. Came in for my yearly exam and was informed it would be a telehealth. I know the world has changed since Covid so I figured I'd go ahead anyway. I'm not sure if I'm the aberration or if they need to tweak their system but I wound up with the prescription in my right eye being significantly off to the point where I couldn't wear my glasses. I understand that mistakes do happen so I scheduled a recheck appointment. Arrived for my recheck appointment at the beginning of this week and waited patiently for 50 minutes to be seen but ultimately had to cancel and reschedule because after all that time there were still two people ahead of me. Today, I came in for my rescheduled recheck and wound up waiting almost an hour and a half to be seen. I voiced my concerns to the staff and I'm sure they're tired of complaints so they weren't especially sympathetic (though I didn't particularly think I was speaking unkindly). I'm a very patient person and, what's more, I work in healthcare and totally get the frustration of trying to pacify irritated patients/customers when you don't have too much control over the schedule. But there's also a more tactful way of dealing with the situation than simply saying, "If you're upset about the wait time you'll have to talk to the doctor about it." I was already waiting over an hour for my appointment before I even spoke up, so I don't think I was being a "Karen." To help improve the customer's experience, I'd like to make a few suggestions: 1. Inform your patients before they arrive if their appointment will be in person or telehealth, so they have the option to reschedule without wasting time coming in to the office. 2. Don't book appointments so close together if you know it's a completely unreasonable timeframe. The patient before me was scheduled for 11:40. My appointment was 11:45. I don't know in what world any competent doctor can conduct a thorough exam in 5 minutes. 3. Let your patients know when they arrive if the doctor is running behind. I know people get annoyed when they find out they have to wait more than 15 or 30 minutes, but trust me, they'll be less irritated than if they're waiting for a while and THEN you tell them they'll have to wait longer and it's only because you asked. The only thing that saved this visit is that Dr. Kirkland did take her time with me and was very pleasant and listened to my concerns. read more

They're doing telehealth appointments now-the patient comes into the office and the techs run a few tests and then the Dr reviews it and speaks to you over video chat afterwards. Seems like a great system except when the Dr is 30 mins late to sign on for some reason and sets back all appointments. Fine, not fun but I can get over technology issues. But then when you are getting glasses and you have to wait another half hr I'm a little annoyed. There's only 1 glasses salesman working and 3 people waiting. I've been here for 2 full hours already and still am not done with this appointment. They have a portal that I haven't been able to get into, and "Amelia" can't seem to help with that either. Taking my family elsewhere, with actual people. I went to pick up glasses and anyone who wears knows they're fog up with mask so pulled down to look at my face. Woman helping me said to put my mask up after asking how my glasses were. I stated that I couldn't see. She told me to go outside then. I took my glasses and left. What bothers me if the 'rules' aren't the same for everyone. I spent time and over $200 with insurance for glasses. You're in customer service industry then act like it. Poor poor way to talk to people. It is Saturday 07/31/2021 and I had a 5pm appointment for my eyes to be checked and to get a pair of glasses. I show up at 4:55pm for my 5 pm appointment and guess what...there is no optometrist on duty because they left at 4:30pm and I did not receive a call to cancel my appointment. Needless to say, I spoke to the manager and the only I received was an apology and to reschedule my appointment on a weekday...guess what? I work for a living during the weekday so I cannot make an appointment during the week...I read other complaints about this place and said to myself let me see it for myself well guess what...it is true. This place is located right off Merrick Road inside of South Gate Shopping Center. There is plenty of well lit parking in this lot but you might have to park a little far to get a spot. It's a regular glass storefront with stores on both sides. Inside your have glasses on the left and right walls. You have contacts on the rear walls to the left and eye glass fixing to the rear on the right. As soon as you walk in you have the customer service desk with the waiting area to the left and the sales tables to the right. All the way in the back is where they do the eye exams. The inside is nice nothing special. I've never had good luck at this place in the past and it does not look like I will have good luck with them in the future. I only come here for the location and because this is the only brand I can visit with my insurance. I had to call my union once to contact the higher ups because of problems with this place. I don't understand the point of making an appointment online when places like this call you after you make an appointment to ask you to change your time. It doesn't make sense at all and is the complete opposite of what I wanted to do obviously. They then asked me for insurance information and personal information over the phone. The only reason I provided it was because I have the number saved and I know it was the store actually calling. This place has come a long way the staff is extremely friendly now. The service and waiting time is much shorter than in the past. I was actually dreading coming to this place. But I was pleasantly surprised by the staffs knowledge and friendly conversation. They do need of a glass frame selection especially high end stuff. There glasses range from sixty up to two twenty. But their all made in China. Hopefully, in the future they can add some higher end glass frames to the selection. I'm happy with the lens options especially the ones that make your lenses thinner than regular ones. They even make them in transition lenses which is cool. I totally like the eye protection they offer against the suns harmful rays. They aren't for me at the moment. The contacts were what my insurance covered and work well for me and helped me out with the pricing and all of that good stuff. I don't wear prescription glasses but sunglasses were recommended so I ended up getting my first pair of polarized sunglasses (which are awesome and make a huge difference in vision quality). I rarely write reviews online, but I've been very pleased with Davis Visionworks. My son has been wearing glasses for several years, and as you know, kids can be very rough glasses. We go in all the time to have them adjusted and they do so without question or complaint. Two recent incidents really made me value the service they provide. Recently, we were in buying new glasses. Because of my son's strong prescription, we were keen to have the old ones as a backup. We picked out a new pair, checked out, and as we were leaving, I asked them to give me son's current glasses an adjustment. Boom, they essentially exploded in the man's hand. The man helping us was beyond remorseful, and for the next two hours the staff did everything they could to put my son's lenses in an existing frame in the store. They were unsuccessful, but heavens knows they tried as hard as they could. They then offered to fully replace that pair, and the lenses they attempted to grind down to fit into another frame. Fortunately, we had a backup pair, so while we waited for his new pair to come in, he was able to use his old ones. We came in a week later to pick everything up. All three sets had arrived: my son's replacement pair (which they had changed the prescription to match his newest lenses), his new glasses, and my daughter's glasses. The manager gasped when she saw his new glasses. She said "I can't let you leave the store with these." They were a pair of rimless Nikes, and because of his thick prescription (+7), looked totally ridiculous. She refunded us fully, without any questions, and he's wearing his current ones -- freshly replaced and fitted with his newest prescription. Next month, we'll go back when the new styles come in, and get him his annual pair. Overall, like I said, A+ service. We're kind of forced to use Davis Vision because of our insurance -- so it's a pleasant surprise to have them provide such a high level of service, and to do so so consistently. read more
