Charged my mom $90 for doing nothing. The day prior they sent her back when she took my grandpa as they explained they're not ophthalmologist and they are not able to manage his issue which was the right thing to do. My mom went today for herself for a separate issue and nobody even attempted to explain to her again that they are not eligible to diagnose or treat this condition. Instead hey said it'll be $89 and they will see her just to do nothing and refer to ophthalmologist. I know they probably labeled her as an "annoying customer from yesterday" and saw her just to shut her up. But this is just so wrong because I know how hard my mom works for that $90 dollars. read more

they gave me reading glasses (+1.5)for the first time user but when i wore it was way too high power so couldn't wear at all. Went back and they lower the power but still i can't wear. they charged me 300$ for the reading glasses. I paid $209 out of my pocket even i was asking for plz give me basic. And now i can't use at all. What a miracle. front desk lady doesn't seems helpful and kindda rude when i called. read more

The optometrists that work here are great. The owner is NOT. He pushes to have customers buy contacts through them and not other places like Costco. That makes sense and all, but it's not good at the expense of lying to customers. To compete the owner offered a manufacturer rebate, but was dishonest about the value of the rebate. $60 versus the actual $30 is a HUGE difference. This is insane. You cannot run a business when you don't clearly read the fine print and are dishonest to customers because you yourself want to make a profit. Read, please. And if you make that kind of huge mistake, remedy it, because this is just sleazy. Very disgusted. read more

Just picked up my new glasses from Hicksville Optical, and I am very pleased. The receptionists were friendly and accommodating. One of them helped me pick out a frame that would accommodate my heavy prescription and still look fashionable. I spent a long time making a decision, but I was not rushed. Prices for add-ons were a bit confusing, but eventually, all was explained. I was promised the glasses in about two weeks. They were ready in eight days. Dr. Thomas was excellent. She is very patient and I can see distance and reading perfectly. I will be back for sunglasses soon. read more

I came to Hicksville Optical to pick out eye glasses several months ago for the first time. I have been going to the same optical place for years. And for years i have been picking out frames without once getting a compliment from anyone, not even my husband!! I picked out two pair at Hicksville Optical with the help of the staff, who were very knowledgeable and patient. Their selection is amazing! Skip it and go elsewhere! I went in for my first ever pair of glasses. The initial meeting was good, the Dr. was helpful. Got my glasses. A few weeks later they fell off and broke. Not knowing what to do, I called and said that the frames broke but the lenses were good. I went in and handed over the lenses. They ordered the frames which took about a week. When I went back it, the lenses were loose in the frames. I told them about it and they were perplexed. One finally said to the other, they are loose so tell the tech to fix it. They then explained that typically the lenses are made for the frames and that even though they ordered the same frame they are all a bit different. I asked then how much for them to do new lenses? They said, no charge, it was covered because it was within the year. My question is this- Why didn't they just order new lenses with the broken frames then? Instead, I had to wait another 10 days for the new lense. I called after 10 days to see if my glasses were finally ready. I was told yes- they have been ready for a week. They said someone called and left a voicemail, but I only have a missed call on record. Again just go elsewhere. read more

i had an eye exam and they were extremely courteous and friendly. When i got the first set of glasses i was not able to get a clear vision . I went back to them in a few days and they made a new pair without charging me and also helped me with better options.. I would highly recommend to go there .. read more

First time experience: I came to Hicksville Optical for an eye exam, distance glasses and computer glasses based on the reviews on other sites. As it was time for new glasses, I checked the reviews on the other opticians that I had used twice before and now saw that they did not have very good experience reviews. I chose Hicksville Optical because they had better reviews and were near my home, so I scheduled an exam and afterwards selected two frames with the help of Rohit. He was very professional and patient in helping me find the types of frames that I preferred and did not pressure me into adding extra features related to the lenses. He did tell me of the benefits of those extras so I could make an informed decision. When the glasses were ready, I went to pick them up and Rohit again helped me, fitting them on me and making certain that they were a good fit and that the vision in both pairs were good. He also provided me with a copy of my prescription at my request. All in all, I had a very positive experience with this company, will return in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking to get eyeglasses. read more

I had to get a quick eye exam for my drivers license renewal and they usually charge $10 for the exam. They were very friendly and after a brief conversation they didn't charge me for the exam. I didn't ask but I imagine it was because it had come up in conversation that I am in the military. I thanked them in person and now I'm thanking them again for writing this review, this simple kind act made my day. I will definitely be back to their shop next time I need something.
