Once the replacement part arrived to me, he had an installer out the next day to handhold me through the process of getting the part replaced and the system back online. American array did a good job and were able to finish the job despite some delays due to PG&E and they worked around it. When helps was needed, Adam helped to get installation issues fixed and was available for communication. Also on a holiday once they sent a resource to help when AC was not functioning after the new sub panel was added. There were initial hiccups in book keeping of accounts etc and comunication but overall they are reliable. read more

I had a complex, risky solar residential project spanning multiple years and much uncertainty but I was lucky to find the right partner with American Array. Let me tell you what I had to deal with and how American Array helped. - Project started in 2023 to get into grandfathered NEM 2.0, but installation date was uncertain (at 1-2 years away). - House expansion (w/ additional roof) and remodel was planned, so solar installer needed to design solar panel layout and estimate electricity usage when new roof only existed in architecture drawings and no prior energy usage to estimate from. - House remodel did not start until mid-2024, so panels could not be installed until new roof was built in late 2024. - The home's electrical lines were underground, so trenching and conduit installation was required to replace the old 100A lines. This was a 1+ year timeline that required four PG&E inspections and lots of work. - Federal tax credit expiring end of 2025, so installation needed to be completed before 2026. Both American Array and I pushed PG&E very hard to get the inspections scheduled and clearly defined requirements, which you can imagine was not easy to deal with. I have friends who dealt with PG&E and there is no getting around their delays, no matter how much influence you have. Imagine having to deal with not one but four separate PG&E inspections! In the meantime I worked with American Array's electricians, panel installers and project managers. Everyone was friendly to deal with, answered my many questions throughout the process. It is nice dealing with real human beings who care about the quality of their work, so thank you. American Array Solar (AAS) was fantastic to work with - right from initial quote request to PTO. Residential solar is a competitive marketplace and AAS was prompt, professional and transparent. Nicolas in sales was very responsive and easy to work with - answered pretty much all questions we had. Lorena from project management provided timely updates. When it came to actual scheduling and installation Adam & team were right on the money. From signing the contract to permit to installation it took about 3 weeks. Another week for inspection & then PTO was quick too. Installation crew arrived before scheduled time, installed in few hours, and cleaned up everything. Eduardo was spot on with final inspection - the city inspector told me that this was the first inspection that passed on first attempt. So kudos for doing great job without any corrections. The proposal and talking them had different equipment than the contract. My fault for not reading the contract in full but the sales manager Omar told me its not their fault and it's my problem. I have 3 emails out to them asking them to call me to go over plans, all unanswered. I have proof that the contract and sales proposal is different. I hoping the install is excellent! However even if the install goes great I would avoid this company!!!! I filed a complaint with BBB. This is not how business should be run. We have had an American Array solar system for 4.5 years and love it. Their sizing and design of the system was the best fit of all the bids we received; and their price point was highly competitive as well. This year we ran into a warranty issue with one of the components in the system. I worked closely with Adam to troubleshoot the issue and his team was dispatched promptly to swap out another company's equipment when the problem was identified. American Array was proactive in helping us get running smoothly again in a "customer service" practice I wish was more standard. I did A LOT of work to find the right company for our solar project. I first contacted American Array to have solar panels installed on my roof in 2022. In 2024, I had a couple of issues because of which my solar power generation system stopped working, and hence I contacted the company for help. Adam K was the person who hand held me through the entire process of arranging the logistics of having people over the go onto my roof to have the panels examined and faults identified. He ensured that the needed faulty part was quickly sourced and my system was repaired. When we saw another issue a couple of months later, he was able to remember specific details of the previous repair and guide the electricians accordingly This year, when I found that my consumption had been very high, and I needed to install a consumption meter to analyze my usage, Adam K once again directed me to the correct person, and enabled the quick installation of the consumption meter in record time. All of this while having a very cheerful demeanor and a positive can-do attitude. Very bad experience. The solar and battery installation took nearly a year due to repeated mistakes. 1)I was told the system was changed from 460 to 450 due to panel shortage, but they installed 460 while all permits and paperwork still showed 450.2)Even after city inspection, issues continued. They altered the downspouts, causing leaks and water to flow over the batteries. 3)A month later, the batteries stopped discharging. Three crews have visited, and I am still waiting for a fix. My opinion, choose a reliable 5-star installer, even if it costs more. This was a hard lesson learned. read more

I had a 6.1 kW solar panel system with a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery backup installed with these folks. All the work was done seamlessly including getting the permits and scheduling the inspections. The installation process for the panels (located on my roof) and the battery component went smoothly from start to finish. I found the people who actually did the physical parts of the job were professional and quite competent and answered the questions that I asked in a complete and understandable manner. I think the system was reasonably priced. Communications with Support was a little wanting but everything turned out just fine in the end. Just don't expect any 'hand-holding' along the way. American Array Solar has completed three projects for me over the past three years; a new solar installation before NEM 3.0, an electric panel upgrade, and an addition to my existing solar array. I've been very happy with their work; their electrical implementation is solid and reliable. The original solar system they installed has been working flawlessly for over three years, and the upgraded panel has had no issues for more than two. All their work was done with proper permits, passed inspection without any modifications, and any minor inspector concerns were addressed promptly. Their pricing is also very competitive compared to many other quotes I received. For a couple of my support queries and for my last two projects, my contact person and project manager was Adam, and I can't recommend him highly enough. In fact, I'd recommend American Array primarily because of their technical staff and Adam's professionalism. He has consistently answered all my questions, big or small, even when they didn't lead to a sale. For example, when I noticed one panel producing less power than the others, he set up a Zoom call, showed me the house exhaust pipe shading that panel (causing the dip in production), and explained everything clearly. He's always quick yet courteous to respond, and transparent in his communication. Their corporate/office staff, however, could improve their communication. There were a few minor cases where I received conflicting information, but whenever that happened, I reached out to Adam, and he promptly resolved the issues to my full satisfaction. Here is my two year review of solar system installed by American Array. We installed our Panasonic / Enphase system back in late March in 2023. We signed the agreement back in January 2023 and it took about two months to get all of the approvals between PG&E and city of Fremont to start the installation. We went with American Array due to three reasons: price and "Elite" Panasonic authorized installer (highest rank installer from Panasonic) and A+ BBB rating. 8K watt system consisted of 20 - 400 watt panels with Enphase micro inverters and combiner. The system was based on Net metering where you try to break even after each year. Buy having American Array - Elite authorized installer, we were able have the system warranty covered by Panasonic - ALL Guard 25 year system warranty. Based on the great price offered for the 8K system and having a Panasonic Elite installer, we went ahead with the purchase. They also installed 4 other systems to my friends. Everything went well with the installation on the roof and the city approved the installation after ground rods were installed and connected to our cold-water pipes. The next approval was getting PG&E approve the connecting to the grid that took about a week. After two years of Net Metering service, we are happy to say our bill for electric only was reduced to about $20 per month that saved about $200-300 dollars per month. Based on the electric savings and 30% tax credit, our payoff is about 6-7 years ! One warranty repair issue just recently was the communication board on the Enphase box has failed and we are unable to monitor the hourly/daily production of the system. I confirmed the energy being generated is still being monitored with PG&E. Enphase parts are arriving shortly to replace the bad communication board and American Array has scheduled the warranty repair shortly in the next few days. read more

However, with American Array, I went from signing contract to PTO in 6-7 weeks, that too over the holidays. It helped that most things were standard in my install. I was a little skeptical when I first got the really competitive quote from this company, so competitive that I thought it was a scam. I then ran all due diligence and decided to proceed with this company. The roofing work done was of quality. The materials employed are very high quality and the roofers are experienced. I would not worry about the price being too good to be true as I know in the industry, a lot of roofers initially quote low and rack up the prices during the project. What is listed and what is discussed with this company, in writing, whether by email or contract was enforceable in good faith in my scenario. But best have everything in the contract. THE ONLY CAVEAT is that I would put down everything I wanted done on my roof to get a quote prior to the beginning of project. A level of research is necessary to ensure that all bases are covered and don't be afraid to ask questions. This company answered a lot of questions as we went back and forth entering new information in the contract. They were patient and once roofing started, the project was completed within 2 business weeks. (My roof was a little big so it took longer than a week). But please RESEARCH RESEARCH and quote EVERYTHING I.e. rafter tails, or Burlingame code to install plywood, how many layers you have to remove etc. prior to starting your project. read more

I hired American Array to install a photovolatic solar array, batteries, backup system, and a asphalt shingle re-roof. I'm an involved homeowner that likes to know how every detail is handled to make sure that I get the best possible result over the lifetime of the work. Before signing the contract with American Array, I did substantial research and got multiple quotes from other companies. American Array had a very competitive quote, and what sold me on them being a reliable installer was that: 1) they were a local installer that does not subcontract out their work 2) they were responsive to my questions and requests 3) they are local and based in the Bay Area 4) they are licensed, Enphase certified, GAF certified, Panasonic EverVolt certified, and I was able to verify their certifications As the project planning and permitting got underway, Adam and Nick were patient, professional, and were clearly striving for perfection. Any big complicated project is bound to have a few hiccups along the way, and they promptly took care of every issue and made things right. I was pleased by how I could call Adam, Nick, or American Array's main office and immediately get a live person on the phone, and they would figure out a way to make things whole within a day or two. Adam and Nick also entertained all of my questions and requests, and went above and beyond to ensure that I was satisfied with the work. Their work passed the many required city inspections (almost 10!) with flying colors. I myself also inspected the work, and I was pleased by the quality of their work. Kudos to Nick on the expertly done battery and backup work, which was the most complex part of the project. My system has been fully operational for a few weeks now, and the electrical meter has barely registered any consumption from the grid thanks to the solar system. I jumped on the solar band wagon super late and was in a rush to qualify for NEM 2.0. One of my friend recommended AA solar as he was going trough solar installation himself. He referred me to Daniel and I got the quote form him after a brief phone call. I did take quotes from other vendors too and Tesla was the only one charging less then AA but Tesla by that time had stopped taking new application under NEM 2.0. Daniel was very easy to work with and we signed the contract and submitted the application for permit to PG&E. Adam from design team reached out to me on a Saturday and went through some design issues and recommended some solutions. Philip was our installer and he was really very informative person and answered all my questions. He did a clean job and was even present on the day when city came for inspection. I just got my solar panels installed and awaiting for county officials to review the work before the solar panels can be "turned on." My journey: I spent quite a bit of time learning about the solar industry and the various installers servicing my area (bay area) via energysage, yelp, reddit, etc. I got quotes from nearly two dozen companies, and ended up with 3 finalists. American Array Solar offered one of the most competitive rates (not the cheapest, but it was close) and agreed to offer me the Panasonic EVPV400H EverVolt panels with enphase IQ8A inverters for a 15.6kW system. The negotiation with the sales rep wasn't the smoothest, but we ultimately came to an agreement. What helped was that when the sales rep couldn't answer all of my questions, she escalated it to her manager who was much more knowledgeable and helpful. Anyway, the actual planning and designing stage, as well as the actual installation are where American Array Solar really shined. I had nearly weekly calls from the designer which included video calls so the designer can show me his computer screen, which allowed me guide them on where the solar panels should be given that I'm aware sun and shade are on my roof (various parts of the day). Once the plan was done, they scheduled an installation date within the week and the installation was fully completed between 9am and 4pm. I was thoroughly impressed that they were able to finish the job that quickly. I look forward to the county officials approving the work within the next week so that my solar can officially be turned on! I'd recommend American Array Solar to others. read more
