We've used First Tier and Robert for several projects now including refreshing a 20 year old tile roof and several stucco maintenance/repair projects. The workmanship has been excellent and held up to the storms we've had. Additionally, for more emergent issues, they're fast to evaluate and mitigate damage while arranging for the proper fixes to be done. The price and warranty are good value for what they've done IMO. Jeremy, Alex, and Leo at First Tier Exterior are awesome to work with and I highly recommend them! We essentially needed to replace the front half our roof. After getting a few quotes, we ended up going with Jeremy and First Tier based due to their comphrehensive plan that included mitigating pooling areas on the roof, fixing stucco, and lining up the permit process at a reasonable price. During the process the team sent me pictures of the progress and the findings they encoutered as the opened up the roof. I felt like was kept in the loop with the progress at all times and nothing was ever a surprise. They found a few things that added some slight additional cost, however these were noted during the quoting process as possible issues that the team might unconver once they opened up the roof. I am actually pretty amazed by the whole process at First Tier Exterior. 1. They were able to give me a quote the day the came out after inspecting the roof 2. They were upfront of potential cost creeps they might encounter AND what the cost would be if they did 3. They sent pictures of their progress and any issues they encountered 4. We hired First Tier Exterior to give our house a face lift. They removed some outdated and shabby areas of battenboard, applied a skim coat (a new surface for the stucco) to the entire exterior of the house and repaired and painted all the trim and exterior doors. They even constructed and applied a decorative gable feature that we requested. Our house looks brand new now! What we loved most about First Tier Exterior is that they have teams of employees skilled in different areas so they can complete ALL aspects of the job. That way, we didn't have to be in the position of coordinating different companies and workers (who then blame each other for problems with the job!) The company is employee-owned, so everyone has a vested interest in the success of each project. As a result, First Tier Exterior was very meticulous about the job they did and they were very mindful of our satisfaction with the final product, even returning a few times to touch up small details after we had made the final payment. Mahoni, Udiel & their crew did a great job replacing our roof. The job started in March 2025. Out of the multiple contractors we reached out to for quotes, Mahoni's team was the hungriest. They came during a rainy day to show us the samples. We then visited their shop and were impressed by their knowledge. They were also the only one with inventory of the roof material we wanted. Our project was complicated because we had to remove our solar panel first before the roof replacement. We were also changing our electric main panel, which required replacement of the electrical mast. Mahoni's crew worked around all the complications and scheduling challenges, and finished the job. When we found issues with part of the roof installation, Mahoni's team came back and fixed the issue. About 3 months ago, I noticed water leaking from a crack in the ceiling above my garage door. At first, it seemed like an isolated stucco issue, but things kept getting worse. I contacted the HOA (First Service Residential), and after a water test on Feb 28, the contractor concluded the leak was coming from holes in the railing joints. After weeks of back and forth with the HOA about whether this was their responsibility or mine (they ultimately ruled it was mine, per the CC&Rs), and even trying to reach out to the developer (KB Homes--no luck, since I'm beyond the 10-year warranty), I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and hire First Tier Exterior. During the first rain of the season, we experienced a roof leak and called First Tier Exterior to investigate the issue. We suspected that the leak was caused by the solar panels we had installed in the summer. Alex came over to inspect the roof and determined that the deformed flashings were causing water to seep through along the walls. Despite our suspicions about the solar panels, he seemed confident in his assessment. He quickly installed a tarp and used asphalt to patch the leaks as a temporary solution until the flashings could be replaced. His diagnosis proved to be accurate, as we did not experience any leaks during the subsequent heavy rain. Later, Alex had a crew come in to install new flashings, redo the stucco, and replace the shingles in the affected area of the roof. The crew did excellent work, and the repairs are virtually undetectable. Of the three companies we contacted, Alex was the only one who correctly identified the problem. He kept us informed throughout the entire process and personally checked on the progress of the repairs. My project manager Alex T. was responsive and professional throughout the whole process. He explained what the cause of the window leak likely was and walked me through how his team would fix it. My experience with first Tier was a little surprising. They came out to give me an estimate on my repairs. I had already gotten 3 estimates so I sort of knew the the range of the cost for my roofing repairs. The estimate guy called me back and instead of telling me that they were not interested in repairing my project, he gave me an outrageous estimate cost that was and believe this when I say $35,000 to 40,000 more than my other 3 contractors estimates. I stopped him while he was talking and I said WHAT?? You gotta be kidding me. I am not asking for a new roof but just repairs. It was totally outrageous not even a new roof is $50,000 is what he quoted me for my repairs and in the future when I need a new roof I would never trust this company my project. Working with this crew was a nightmare. I initially dealt with David to get a quote and outline the project details. I made it clear from the start that my roof replacement was urgent because my home insurance required the work to be done before the end of last year to renew my policy. David promised they could meet the deadline; otherwise, I would have gone with another company. I have confirmed few times before signing the quote. I signed the contract on 11/12, giving them plenty of time to prepare. Based on our conversations, I expected the work to be finished within the first week and no more than two weeks. But once I signed and paid the deposit, everything went downhill. I expected them to take proper measurements, order all necessary materials in advance, and be ready to start work immediately once scheduled. I even reminded them not to tear off my existing roof during raining days unless they could guarantee completion within a week. They assured me there would be no issues. But when problems arose, the project manager started dodging my calls, making excuses, and blaming crew shortages for missed workdays. When I escalated the matter to Mahoni and Miguel, the so-called bosses, they were blatantly disrespectful and flat-out refused to send anyone, even on clear sunny days, claiming they were overloaded with other projects. And it sounded like I was bagging them to complete my roof project. I might have had some sympathy, but their poor planning and project mamagment isn't my responsibility, they should have managed their workload before taking on more jobs than they could handle. I asked them to cancel my contract so I could hire someone else, but they ignored me for days. I was so helpless during that time. In the end, while the roof was eventually finished on 1/24, it was far too late. I was forced to switch my home insurance because of their total negligence, as they failed to complete the work before the 12/30 deadline. I spoke with them many times with no answers during the process. To make things worse, the interior of my roof suffered damage, and they showed zero accountability for it. It's not like I chose a bargain contractor and they were expensive, and yet the customer service and project management were shockingly bad. The bosses and crew made no effort to compensate for the delay or help the customers as promosied. Meanwhile, a friend of mine started a similar roofing project around the same time with a different contractor. Her roof was similar size as mine, yet her team completed the entire job including a free gutter upgrade in just five days and her price was 40% cheaper than mine. Roof and truss installation completed 12/23/2024. Background: My family and I lived in our parent's mobile home for 30+ years. Our roof hadn't been fully replaced in a long time. We've been repairing it, DIYing, and patch up roof fixes from time to time but never got the roof shingles remove and replaced, until now. Eventually, our roof started leaking and our ceiling and walls are showing signs of water damages. The ceiling started having brown water spots, and some of the walls showed early warps. I had to get a professional roofer to fix our home. After extensive searches for local bay area roofers and reviewing all the reviews, I decided to work with First Tier Exterior because of their quality of their work and positive reviews. Experience hiring and working with First Tier Exterior: We had a severe roofing case because of dry rot damages to the plywood and truss. Not sure if First Tier Exterior ever had to work on a mobile home case like this, but they were up for the challenge. Bottom line: First Tier Exterior roofers do not cut corners and do everything by the book with up-to-state inspection code. They use premium quality materials to fix our roof and their work speaks for itself. The drawback with them is their communication process. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY -- THEY WILL BURN YOU. This is the most unprofessional company and ownership I've ever dealt with. The owner, Mahoni, immediately began verbally harassing/abusing (HR violations galore) his younger sales rep, who sold the work and executed the contract, directly in front of me. He made highly offensive sexual remarks as if I had done some "favor" to his sales rep to get the contract that I negotiated with them. The profanity and initially "playful" yet inappropriate harassment was directed towards me in addition to the sales rep. Reluctantly, the owner decided to begin the work, and I agreed to pay a couple thousand more to appease him so that they could continue work as planned, given my tight timeline and emergency roofing/waterproofing situation (with my tenant displaced in the meanwhile). I didn't have the luxury to start over with my search, and I thought they would do work minus the owner's issue with his sales rep. Unfortunately, I didn't quite realize that his inexperienced sales rep would also be the project manager who did not understand construction or how to project manage. There were details in the signed contract that he wasn't managing to and the ownership and work crew did not know why they were being asked to certain things, creating tension. The sales rep/project manager was told he was suspended from work, and the owner mentioned the same to me... but that his suspension would only begin after the project was over instead of immediately. This left my job with an ineffective project manager and me caught in the middle of internal turmoil between the owner and his employee and the whole crew. I asked the owner to take over project managing directly, and he agreed saying he would do so first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, the next morning his soon to be suspended project manager returned again and the morning did not go well with the manager making more mistakes and taking his issues with his employer out on me with inappropriate and unacceptable attitude and poor customer service -- apparently the way the owner speaks to customers had wore down this young employee as well where he thought that was appropriate conduct. This was just two days in. The drama came to an end one the owner's cold feet set in and he pulled his guy's off the job that they never wanted in the first place. The owner and I discussed the situation on-site person-to-person where I asked him if he had even reviewed the contract up until now. Unsurprisingly, the owner quickly remarked back that no, he had not looked at it before and that this was the first time he was seeing it when I showed it to him. What an awful company and way to run your business. I'll be taking this company to court 100% for subjecting me to all types of harassment, breach of contract, causing arbitrary delays to the emergency repair work, allowing more water to get into the house due to negligent overnight tarping, and increasing my total costs. STAY AWAY -- you've be warned. On a side note, other competing companies provided the similar for the same scope of work and product selection. read more

After postponing my roof project after so many years, I finally decided it was time for change. My home had 40+ yr old tiles with zero plywood underneath. While it's held up fine during this recent rainy season, I didn't want to risk it next winter. My parents' roof also needed to be replaced, so why not get both done at the same time! I checked out a few companies, and First Tier really jumped out. Eddie, the project manager, came by to check out both homes. He was extremely knowledgeable about the process and explained the different roofing options to me. Eddie was able to draft up the quote right on the spot so we didn't have to wait very long. I was concerned about the debris from the tear down process since I knew I didn't have pre-existing plywood, all the debris would fall right into my garage. He offered to have his crew tarp my personal belongings to protect any broken tiles or debris from damaging my belongings. After thoughtful consideration, my parents and I felt most comfortable with First Tier. Eddie and Johnny (office manager) were in constant communication with me the entire process. We communicated mostly through group text, which was very efficient and responsive. Eddie checked in frequently to give updates and check how things were going on my end. My parents' home had some wood rot and they informed us immediately prior to any repair. They wanted to be as transparent as possible and provided photos since most of the rot was on the 2nd floor of the home. Once all the repairs were made, they painted the wood to match the color of the home. They made sure everything looked brand new. First Tier, not only does roofing, but they are a construction company that can basically do it ALL. Stucco- Felix is the man with SKILLS. Paint- They have an in-house painter too. We had some additional repairs needed too and First Tier was ON IT. Eddie and his team (Jeremy included) really pride themselves in ensuring the customer is happy and they want you to just sit back and relax. We did not hire First Tier. My partner and I wanted to hire First Tier. At first Miguel was great, yet their contract was so vague and filled with statements such as "if applicable". I asked Miguel to be unambiguous - what specifically will First Tier do, and please leave off "if applicable" this or that. My concern was should there have been problems the contract left too much wiggle room for First Tier to say something did not apply to our roof. As a retired construction project manager, I felt uncomfortable with a vague contract. First Tier came highly recommended, yet when I asked for specifics, Miguel stopped responding to my calls. I am sure First Tier is a good roofing contractor, yet I am dumbfounded with Miguel's inability or unwillingness to provide an unambiguous contract. I ultimately decided to hire a different roofing company. It was only after reading this review did Miguel finally contact me. I informed him I had not formally executed the contract with the other company, yet if he was serious about working together he should issue a contract by removing the "if applicable" language. Instead he chose to not pursue working with us. I am confident from speaking to Miguel that both he and First Tier are a fine company, yet their contract language does leave me with some hesitation as well as Miguel and the company's ghosting me does make me pause and consider what if there is a problem what then? Please do include First Tier as a company to consider for installing a roof on your house. I honestly believe they are good company. From reading other reviews here, I see rave reviews of other project managers. I suggest if you get assigned Miguel that you ask for another project manager.
