Our 30 year old concrete tile roof was at end of life, and a constant source of stress when it rained. Asked for a quote to replace with architectural shingles as a good match to our solar panels, and received a very detailed quote, clearly explaining several possible options. They were able to work around the solar de-installation schedule without any issues. The crew was motivated, skilled, very experienced, and showed up exactly on time, every day. The job site was maintained in a clean and safe manner at all times, and the quality of the work -- absolutely outstanding. Excellent value for the money in my opinion; a quality product, well installed. True-up at the end of the job was detailed, clear, and under budget. Strongly recommend this company.

More worried about getting the job done fast and not doing the proper steps to prevent danger. My six-year-old daughter put one through her foot and put her in the emergency room. I brought this to the owner's attention and all I got was a sorry text. Worst part is I warned him one week prior that there was excessive nails that we've been picking up and he claims he came by and did another sweep. All they had to do was lay tarps or plastic down to prevent this. Or don't do the job so fast and be sloppy and just throw everything off the roof in every direction. Or maybe have the owner actually be on site when his workers are working and prevent situation situations like.

MCR were very meticulous and perfectionists ("fineschmakers"). Hank was always pointing me to little things that needs to be taken care of and which they fixed. Examples include fixing some mortar cracks in the chimneys, replacing some roof boards, and dealing with the bay windows decorative roofing that required complex custom work in order to make them look nice. I strongly recommend MCR based on my experience.

I don't know why he had to hold up 2 other cars so he could park in this exact spot. As a business owner in Santa Cruz and Capitola I would not hire this company if they were the last roofing company on earth. Hey buddy!! We are on the edge of their service area (Redwood City). We had 2 homes to do (myself and my next door neighbor). Nick was very responsive and communication was excellent. His first visit came with a preliminary assessment and a walk of the roof. He took a number of photos to show us some of the problem spots (which were included in the final proposal). He's very personable and good to work with. Mostly over email and text, we were kept up to date on status. The proposal itself was very competitively priced. Juan was in charge of the execution and had the same responsiveness and communication. They were able to start Monday and complete both homes by Thursday as the weather was good to us. They did all permitting (took a few days) and scheduled the inspections. All the work was done without us having to be present. They set up a group text for communication once the construction started - - and were very responsive to inquiries as well as keeping us up to date. Having work done on your house is never fun, but this experience is as good as it gets.

They have tools and capabilities that almost no one else in the Bay Area has: they can run long, seamless gutters, and Juan is able to solder them in place. It is impressive work. I did a full gutter replacement, which was no small job. They quoted 3 days of work, and finished in 3 days. The entire crew worked hard and diligently each day, cleaning up after themselves at the end of each work day. This was hands down one of my best experiences ever working with a service provider. Top Tier Roofing in Morgan Hill just completed installation of new shingles on my home. The entire process went flawlessly. I am planning to install solar panels, and as part of the solar company's planning process, they did an inspection of the site. What they found was that the roof's asphalt shingles had many areas which were getting toward the end of their life. I had 3 companies inspect the roof and provide estimates for replacing the shingles. And what was very important, was to complete the work without delaying the solar installation project. Roxanne, part of Top Tier Roofing's office staff, was a delight to work with. She understood my situation and the timing required. She arranged for an immediate inspection by Porfirio. He came out right away and was excellent at sizing up the situation and explaining my options. Porfirio's experience was evident. Top Tier provided me an estimate without delay. I wasted no time in advising them that if they could do the job without negatively impacting the timing of the solar installation, that I would like to move ahead with signing a contract. Less than a day later, I had worked with Top Tier Roofing's owner, David and we had a signed contract. Not only did Top Tier Roofing assure me that they could start without delay, they indicated that they could complete the job in three days. And the icing on the cake was that their pricing was very competitive. Top Tier Roofing sent a crew out bright and early on the scheduled start day, efficiently removed the old shingles and tar paper, exposing the wood below. They did an inspection, looking for dry rot and any damage from termites or insects. They found one area which showed evidence of damage, replaced it right away, and prepared for installation of the new shingles. New underpayment went down and the shingles followed shortly. Top Tier's crew installed the new roof in less time than estimated. They did an excellent job of picking up and hauling away the old shingles, tar paper, nails and staples (I think there were about 5 billion of them). The care they took with the cleanup really showed me the pride that they took in their work, and the high values and standards instilled by management. The excellent communications from the owner, David, to the general manager, Gilbert, and to the project manager, Porfirio . . . all made the process run smoothly; on time and on budget. I was very pleased with the entire project and the way this group of professionals handled every aspect of it. My new roof looks great! I would highly recommend Top Tier Roofing. They were simply excellent. read more

Our 60 year old single story home was in dire need of roof and gutter repair. We solicited bids from four contractors: three small businesses and one general contractor. The three small business contractors' bids were quite close in price and estimated schedule. The general contractor's bid was 50% higher in price and they estimated that the job could take up to two weeks to complete. We selected the bid from Top Tier based on how well David communicated. He spent the time to patiently listen to our questions and answer them. The bid from Top Tier was the most detailed with price options for various grades of shingles and had the gutter replacement listed separately. We had thought that our old patio cover would have to be removed in order to replace the gutters. David said that his crew could work around the patio cover. David estimated that the job could be completed in four days, including repair of dry rot and termite damage. The schedule was important to us because we needed to board our dogs for the duration of the job. David was able to start the job about a week after we signed the contract. The demolition crew showed up at 11 AM on a Monday. The demolition crew was particularly impressive. In less than eight hours they trimmed some overhanging tree limbs, removed two layers of old shingles and thousands of nails, removed the old gutters, and meticulously cleaned up all of the debris that had fallen into the yard and into the garage, leaving them significantly cleaner than before they arrived. All of the construction material was delivered the next day. All of the dry rot repair, new shingles, new sheet metal flashing and vent covers, and new gutters and downspouts were completed by 3 PM on Thursday. David thus beat his estimate by about a half of a day. David stopped by each day to inspect the progress and to ask if we had any concerns. It was a comfort to know we could have contacted David via his cell phone at any time if there had been any issue. As a bonus, David installed flashing between the new gutter and our old patio cover. As another bonus, David supplied and installed a spark arrestor/cover on our fireplace chimney. How does one rate a contractor who exceeds one's most optimistic expectations? During the storm, our son saw a small wet spot on our living room ceiling. He noticed the spot getting larger due to the heavy rain. I contacted several roofing companies to get a quote for replacing our roof. David, the owner, got back to me quickly and was able to schedule us in right away. My husband and I met with David, who is a genuinely nice person and extremely knowledgeable in his field. He took the time to inspect our roof and went over any questions that we had. In his quote, he provided several pricing dependent on the type of materials. His pricing was extremely fair and he was always in contact with us. Another reason we chose his company is because David is a very honest businessperson and he did not upsell us anything. During the roof installation, we either saw or spoke with him everyday and gave us updates. He also did some extra things for us without any charges. His respectful crew also did a great job in keeping our property clean. Our new roof looks amazing and we are grateful to have worked with David. When I searched the company for my roof project, I interviewed two companies rated high on Google, the first one came, he looked around in front of my house and told me about the minimum charges for any roof projects and estimated price, he didn't even go up to the roof. I was like "how could you give me the price without looking at the actual roof?". Then Porforio from Top Tier Roofing came with a LADDER, he climbed up, surveyed the roof, took a whole bunch of pictures and told me that he would calculate the overall cost in one or two days. I was a little surprised to know that the overall cost was higher than what the first company told me, however, after the conversation with the owner, David and Porforio regarding the items needed to be done. I chose the Top Tier Roofing. The guys came on time for two-day works, before I made payment after the completion, we went through the item list on the proposal. Their Project Manager, Porfirio Ramos came to my home, provided a packet of information on the company, found the problem, made the necessary repair and inspected the remainder of my roof. I was very impressed with the customer focus, professionalism and timeliness of Top Tier Roofing, they responded quickly, set an appointment and were onsite at that date and time scheduled. Great Team! Top Tier was actually the second of three companies surveying for roofing and gutter. Gil, the General Manager for Top Tier Roofing had always communicated and each crew had a specific task and completed it in a timely manner. Always cleaned up before leaving for the day and crew chief always told me they were leaving. They take pride in their workmanship and craft. Licensed, bonded and insured contract communicated what was to be expected and got it done in three days as promised. Weather helped too. Also set up the permit and inspection, you know Top Tier Roofing does excellent work when they have the city coming in to inspect their work. FYI: The first company I called had no license, not bonded and was not insured. Used state website to confirm all of the details and he was too easy to saying yes to everything. The third company was reluctant to even try to call/text me back after 6 days. I texted him and canceled his service right away. read more

I reached out to Top Tier to replace the roof on my home and detached garage. I also wanted to install 2 sun tunnels on the main house. Project Mgr Gilbert was so awesome to work with. He provided a very detailed quote and was very patient in answering all my questions over a couple of meetings and follow-up texts. Additionally he continually kept me informed on our start date when rains pushed it out a couple of weeks. He showed up on time for the estimate, and send us a proposal that same day. The crew was great, they were very efficient. It's amazing how hard the crews worked. We removed a shake roof, installed radiant barrier plywood, ridge vent, insulation, granulated flashings, gutters and downspouts, and gutter screens. The roof itself was a new composition Presidential TL roof and we love the way it looks a lot like our old shake roof, nice a thick appearance. This is a quality company. I called because we had some small water stains on the ceiling of one of our upstairs bedrooms. I was worried the job would be too small. They actually answered the phone and were polite and professional. The nice lady said one of their project managers would be in my area the next day and I scheduled an appointment. David stopped by, climbed on the roof and told us it was good for another 10 years. He showed me some minor repairs I could do on my own, answered all my questions, and even gave me a few specialty roof screws to fix a thing or two. I watched some of his marketing videos about his honest approach but honestly didn't believe it until today. Trust is the biggest thing with a contractor and he earned mine right away. We needed some dry rot facia and tiles replaced. After getting several quotes we selected Top Tier as the best value for the money. Joe was responsive and helpful, but his crew were the stars. They started within 10 days, did a great job, and we appreciated their crew working in the latest heat wave. In addition, when they were finished they did a really good job of clean up and even sent a truck to pick up the large amount of trash that was left. There was a leakage on top on my master bedroom and it turned out to be caused by an opening gap at the roof top. I have tried several roofer but due to the minority of the problem not everyone interested to repair it. I contact Top Tier and they sent some guy as usual to check out, but out of my surprise they saw it was not a big issue and offered free repair this time. During the research process, the Los Gatos office staff was flexible and patient, and not pushy. They answered many questions and then sent their Project Manager, Bret, to check out our existing roof. Bret was THE BEST! Super knowledgable, provided great explanations/examples of different options that would fit w/in our budget, and again, was extremely patient w/ my questions. 2 DAYS! That's how long it took to take off my old roof and replace it w/ a brand new shingle roof! We had a new roof and gutter system installed and there were many color options for both. At the beginning of the process, they covered the pool to limit the amount of dust/debris that would fall into it and provided instructions about how to protect items in the house/garage. My neighbors were impressed at how quickly Bret's team worked. They were efficient, not excessively noisy (no loud radios), and respectful of the hours they worked. At the end of Day 2, the Los Gatos team cleaned up the yard, swept the area around the house, and (I think) even swept inside my garage - it looked cleaner than when they began. Follow-up included a walk around w/ Bret. He showed me pics of the roof and also scheduled the inspection (he handled all the paperwork too)! Between the research process w/ the Office Staff (Lisa in particular) and the actual work/post-work communication (Bret), Los Gatos made the whole process transparent and simple. A roof is a major investment, but I had confidence in Los Gatos b/c of how up front they were about costs and how quickly they responded to my questions as I was comparing quotes. I extremely happy w/ the process and outcome. And I'll update the review after the next rainy season if there are leaks. If you're considering putting a new roof on your home, CALL LOS GATOS Roofing. Jorge was our foreman, and he was great. He checked in with us in the morning, professional, and super hardworking, as was the rest of his crew, including Pablo, Jorge Jr, and Jesus. They worked hard, stayed busy, Jorge kept us updated. The whole crew was very nice (with 3 young daughters, that was an awesome little bonus). They kept the workspace contained, were mindful of our safety, and worked around our young family clutter and bustle. Laura was our operations manager, and she kept us updated and up to speed! Rodrigo was our superintendent, and he was very easy to communicate with. He was responsive, timely, and made sure we understood the scope of the work. That was important because our roof needed more work than the initial work order we laid out. There was a lot of rot in the wood beneath the roof. The original estimate was very reasonable, but the scope of work great 2-3x fold. With that increase in work that had to be done, the price still felt very fair. We were in good hands! The whole experience was very relieving. We've had rain since they finished, no leaks at all! And they've checked in us to make sure everything was all good regarding no leaks. They made sure everything was WUI compliant to help with our home owners insurance. The project leader had wonderful communication, the crew was helpful. They communicated well when they found some wood damage that would require repair. They cleaned up everyday, and were very efficient getting the install done. For such a large expense, it was so nice feeling confident all the folks involved were knowledgeable and competent. I got several bids, and very carefully compared each, and while it was not the absolute lowest, it was lower than many. The quote was transparent and from the research I did the pricing was super reasonable for the work. A+ Would work with again, but I probably won't have to for at least 30 years because the roof is fantastic.

We hired Bay 101 Roofing ~10 years ago to re-roof the flat part of our roof (around 1,250 sqft),…read moreinstalling frame to slope the roof, insulation and torch-down material. The roof held Ok for 8 years, but leaked in the south and east corners of our home 2 years ago. Bay 101 made repairs under warranty. It leaked again last year -- and again was repaired. This summer I checked roof condition and found that it now came apart at the west side (photos 1, 2). On top of that, there were bubbles in the middle of the roof. Bay-101 told me that the reason for continued issues is that the material they used poor quality material and switched suppliers. However, the roof is no longer under warranty and I have to pay to replace it. We had to re-roof again! I hired another company to do the job and during the tear-down they found that while framing and insulation was done well, the torch-down material was installed on top of insulation (fire hazard) and also wasn't fully treated (as seen on photos 3, 4 and 5). The new installers told me that another layer of material (i.e. plywood) on top of insulation was needed to ensure torch-down material would hole. This cost me another $3,500 on top of the cost of re-roofing to get the insulation covered. I am not happy with the poor work done on my house by Bay 101 Roofing, to put it mildly!

My project was to be 2-3 days and expanded to 5 days. I still give this company huge credit for making my gutters and roof look great. Cesar took many photos and thoroughly described all the existing damages and had me climb to the roof to get a view. I felt that I could make the best decision and also comfortable to work with him. He also worked with my insurance company to gather information and to be a point of contact. I would certainly recommend this company.

As someone who performs a lot of work on my own house, I'm very selective in who works on my home. For starters, our San Jose home was built in 1904 and was years overdue to have a new roof put on. Tony was responsive, thorough, respectful and paid attention to every detail. He explained materials in a way that allowed us to make the best choice. Not only that, they were the most affordable company by far and the work they performed was best-in-class. His family-run company was also the hardest working crew I have ever seen. They tore off 2 old layers of shingles, replaced anything that had dry rot, got into the attic and reinforced sections that were sagging, installed heat-reflective underlayment and shingles and even re-painted sections of the roof. They even got into the attic and cleaned up any material that dropped through, something other contractors said they wouldn't do. I can't say enough good things about this company and crew. Tony looked after the project at every step as if it were his own house. Nobody else will earn your business and provide value the way California Roof Technicians does, full stop.

I couldn't be happier with the work Tony and his helper did, even did more than was on the written contract and didn't charge extra. He said my roof should last another five years. Definitely plan on hiring them when the time comes for a new roof.
