MCR did fabulous work on my roof. Hank the project manager did an amazing job, coming every day, was very detailed oriented, and making sure that everything is progressing per plan. MCR were very meticulous and perfectionists ("fineschmakers"). Hank was always pointing me to little things that needs to be taken care of and which they fixed. Examples include fixing some mortar cracks in the chimneys, replacing some roof boards, and dealing with the bay windows decorative roofing that required complex custom work in order to make them look nice. I'm very glad I chose to hire Master Craft Roofing to re-roof my home in San Jose. I actually chose them over a slightly lower quote because of how knowledgeable, straightforward, and kind Guillermo was when he came out to give me a quote. I recommend covering any items you have in your attic or garage (if the ceiling is unfinished) with sheets or plastic sheeting because there will be little bits that fall during the project. Great experience working with the crew and Guillermo is fantastic throughout the process. Our roof had a leak and I started to work with Master Craft ( Guillermo ) at Oct, before the rainy season. However due to busy scheduling, they couldn't get to my house early enough so my roof is leaking during the storm. I texted Guillermo at 12/24 (!) asking him for help, but expecting we gonna have miserable holiday since at that time, I was not in the contract with them, haven't paid anything at all. But they still come out and helped me patched the roof on 12/30 ( !!! ) so our house is able to survive throughout the winter. They finally started to work on my roof end of Jan, and the process is very good. I am mostly impressed on how transparent they are, Guillermo uses his drone to capture photos every day, send me text, update me on the progress and just easy to work with. Rick and his team were professional and unbelievably easy to work with. Every step went as planned and I appreciated the communication and speed at which they worked. The team arrived at around 7:30/7:45 every day and were working at 8 on the dot. They also cleaned the site at 4:30 every day and left zero mess each day they were on site. Rick was also really good at showing us how the work was progressing and gave us recommendations on how to insulate and addition that wasn't properly insulated by the previous owners. Master Craft was referred from a friend and so we called them to give an estimate for replacing our roof. Guillermo came out and did a thorough inspection of the roof and said the roof probably still had a few years left, but I was installing solar so decided to replace anyways. Guillermo spent time with us explaining the roofing system/technology and also explained that the roof ridge that is currently on the roof was not done correctly and because of that it was not venting the attic properly causing higher heating/cooling costs. They pulled the permits, came out and finished the work with really good workmanship. The roof looks fantastic and we immediately noticed a difference in the temperature inside the house. The scope of work involved repair of the patio overhang as it was rotten, fascia repair/replacement, and even a special custom metal cap on one of the beams. My goal: repair/replace leak skylights. Their estimator failed to show the first time because they "double booked" me. Used a drone to evaluate the skylights, and assured me that the leak was most certainly caused by insufficient side channel (it wasn't) and was very easy to fix (it wasn't). As part of replacing our roof solar system we were looking for a roofing company to do whatever work was necessary to make sure that the roof is in good shape for the next 30 years. In addition to the roofing company recommended by our solar installer we also contacted Master Craft Roofing and two others. Rick responded immediately, came by to look at the roof, gave us his recommendations, discussed our concerns, answered all our questions and sent us a quote. Based on this experience and many positive reviews we chose them for our project. Master Craft Roofing had to coordinate with our solar installer to schedule the different project phases from removing the old solar modules to the tile roof lift and re-lay with replacement of the underlayment and finally installation of the new modules. We were a bit worried to have contracted with two different companies for different phases of the project. But that worry was unfounded. They worked great together and there was no finger pointing or issues of any kind. We are very pleased with the outcome. Our roof looks like new after they power washed the tiles. The new underlayment keeps the attic and the house cooler during hot days, and we are confident that we won't have leaks for a very long time. But in case there are, we know that we can count on Master Craft Roofing to take care of it. Working with Rick was a pleasure. He kept us informed at all times, quickly answered any questions that came up, and was flexible to make changes on the fly like replacing the existing attic vent with a new unit. I'd highly recommend Mastercraft. They did a full roof, skylight, and gutter install for and it turned out great. I was happy each step of the way - I really felt they cared about quality and working to keep me happy. If I flagged an issue - they took care of it. Joe is the founder who is super personable, and everyone who worked at the company seemed happy to be there, and customer focused. For example, they caught an issue with the gutter they installed on the front of my house that I hadn't noticed, and they replaced it in full on their own initiative. I super appreciated that they just handled it rather than waiting to see if I noticed it or not. Pricing was very reasonable and I compared bids from 4-5 other companies. Our house in Sunnyvale needs a new roof. A friend of mine referred Cris at Master Craft roofing and another roofing company to me. I called Cris and made an appointment with him. On the appointment day I met Lorenzo instead, at first I was a little worried but Lorenzo quickly put my worries away. He is very kind, soft spoken, after taking a look at the old roof, he suggested us to use different material from the exisitng roof since the slope of the roof is very low. There are also lots of the trees in the backyard so he suggested us not to have gutters which indeed caused lots of issues before. After I got home, I did more research online and found Lorenzo's advices very sound. We also have very tight schedule to fix in the tenant's need. Lorenzo coordinated everything with his company and promptly agreed to start the job within one week. The quote is very reasonable, so I decided not to contact my friend's 2nd referral and signed the contract with Lorenzo right away. While the roof was being replaced, I was away for one week. Lorezno managed everything very professionally and kept me informed of the progress regularly. It's really nice that I did not have to babysit the job. Lorenzo and his crew did an amazing job and our new roof was beautifully done. A few weeks after the city inspection was done and the final payment was made, we finally had our first rain. From the start, when Rick H (Sales Manager) showed up early in the morning on the scheduled appointment time as part of the old and beaten up Roof assessment, and from the time, he took out the Drone and tossed up in the air to take the high quality 4K pictures and video of the bald shingles, I was sold out right there itself -- there you go, a Perfect usage of technology in the Silicon Valley! What else!! This FIRST IMPRESSION typically goes a long way in creating a positive and pounding effect on the customer mindset especially when you do not have to climb up on the roof (avoid risk and completely safe) and let the BIRD (drone) capture and scan every inch of the roof, Eagle's eye vie. Wow , very impressive!! Next, Rick explained that the new roof will be installed in layers starting from underlayment to absolute asphalt composite singles (GAF Timberline HDZ (RS) Golden Pledge System which comes with a LIFETIME Warranty of 50 years non-prorated on material and 25 years workmanship warranty backed by GAF !! Well, re roofing contract paperwork was signed through DocuSign. Moving on, I was put on the waiting list for their typical wait time of 3-4-5 weeks, which is not bad considering the MCR are very popular. I also had an existing solar PV panels, which required to be uninstalled and reinstalled as well. I connected MCR to my solar contractor company, the original installer of Solar PV and Solar Pool Thermal. At this point in time, Alex C (Operations Director) coordinated excellently the entire roofing operations execution with his additional team members, Lorenzo and Christian, and the entire roofing crew. In the same week, I got the Call from Alex, apparently there's a last-minute cancelation on the other customer, and a new slot opens up for my roofing installation. I was like, WOW, the party begins now! Solar panels were uninstalled and the MCR crew jumped on the roof top and started the roof tear down process. The solar crew came back the next day to install the new roof mounts and flashing standoff. MCR crew continued with the deployment of new shingles and from start to finish the new roof installation was completed just within 3 days -- damn it, that's less than 72 hours, too good to be true, especially coordinating professionally with the solar company team including the deployment of the brand gutters and downspouts. Communication was the key from MCR to all the parties as part of stepping stone towards the project flawless success !! Roofing permit was finaled on the day of inspection with an exception of minor corrections by SJC city inspector to get the old cut combustible exhaust b-vent replaced with the new pipe and solar permit needs to be pulled in as part of the PV system uninstallation and reinstallation even though there was no change in the solar panels footprint and production electrical configuration. Alex did an excellent job of the roofing finale with the city inspection. The roofing permit passed the following week after the required corrections were in place as requested by the City. Wow. Now you're going to be dishonest on top of it. Or did you think I had forgotten about this experience?!?!?! LET'S BE CLEAR: Hank had one extension ladder on top of his truck. It was unusable to get into our attic. Hank told my husband that his daughters don't let him go on roofs anymore and that his other ladder had recently been stolen. We explained that we had a folding ladder, so we used it. It was the ONLY way of getting into the attic. Hank didn't have a ladder that would work and to say that my husband insisted I using our ladder IS A LIE! Hank absolutely wasted an 50-60 minutes of my time. After flying his drone he told me that he would "talk to a couple other guys at the company, and that they would all come up for a great solution for my insufficiently vented attic." We also told him we needed gutters replaced. Hank told me he would send a quote to replace the gutters and vent the attic. After two weeks, we had a real roofing company come out and they installed two solar attic fans and the problem is solved. Stay away from Mater Craft. We had a great experience with Master Craft Roofing, and worked specifically with Austin. We had evidence of an old leak and our contractor discovered a poorly done roof. The Master Craft guys came out to take a look and they identified the problems, explained everything to us, and were very professional. Joe seemed really passionate about his work which gave us confidence that he'd have a great team. They gave us a reasonable quote and an easy to read proposal packet, and they were very communicative. Austin was also really kind and patient, and we appreciated how he fielded all our questions. The actual work took a couple days and was well done, and the team cleaned up as well as could be expected -- I was actually pretty impressed and grateful that they cleared out a lot of the inevitable dust that ended up in our garage at the end.
