Trio is amazing! Some background: We noticed a wet spot on the ceiling of our vaulted ceiling and thought, "Wait, we have clay tiles on our roof and they're supposed to last 50 to 75 years!" However, longevity depends on how well you take care of them (e.g. maintenance) and the roof in general. Being that we have a 2 story home and the fact I weight 225 pounds, I rarely venture onto the roof for fear of cracking the clay tiles. Hence, maintenance over the years has been minimal to nil. Nonetheless, I had to address the leak before more damage could occur to the underlying plywood. I was able to get several quotes from 5 star roofing companies (6 in total) - they all varied in their evaluation of the work to be done and thus varied in their estimated costs (the range was from $975 to $10k!) However, one stood out from the rest in terms of the details, the thorough explanation of the work to be done, all the while being very responsive, professional and patient (most customers don't know much about roofs and roofing repairs, so there is certain level of learning to make sure that you don't get taken advantage of for work that doesn't need to be done.) Trio Roofers was impressive with their communications, estimate, scheduling, and efficiency. Simon was the project manager and his team from Trio did a phenomenal job on my roof repair project. They worked on about 100 sq ft, carefully removing the clay tiles to get underneath to make the repair to the underlayment and make things 100% waterproof. I also added maintenance to this project and they were able to check/inspect/clean/repair the entire roof area. This included replacing broken clay tiles, maintaining and cleaning valleys for unobstructed water flow, reseal caulking at skylights, sun tunnels, and chimney metalflashing, as well as inspect, provide and apply mastic sealant over pipe and vent connections. They also cleaned out all the gutters and downspouts. Throughout the whole process, Simon was a consummate professional as he kept me posted from start to finish. Here is a plus - he and his team documented all their work with clear photos showing all the detailed work done and maintenance completed, in additional to aerial drone views of the entire house from different angles. As a customer, this gives me peace of mind (and factual evidence) that all of the items agreed upon from the work order were actually done. They were able to get the work done in less than a day (as opposed to other roofer quotes which indicated 2 to 5 days). It feels good to know that my roof is back at 100% and should remain so for the immediate future (and rain season). I highly recommend Trio and Simon for anyone with roofing needs (repair, replacement, maintenance). They are competitive, professional, courteous, subject matter experts, and detail-oriented. Roofing is not a cheap service, so it's important to work with a team you can trust. I'm sharing a rather long explanation to highlight why I chose TRIO Roofers and why I trust them. I was looking for roofers and posted my project on yelp. I chose 3 companies that had great reviews and looked most professional online and in communication. Out of these three, one listened to my description of the problem and made a proposal for a partial roof replacement, because I mentioned that this might be what is needed, then tried to upsell me even more. When I asked to get on a call and talk about their estimate, they never responded. Another came by and spent ~15 minutes looking around and then gave me a price that was 2x higher than the quote I got from TRIO Roofers. TRIO Roofers have a different approach. Simon, their manager, came by and stayed for an hour explaining things about the roof, about their approach, showed certificates, licenses and insurance they have. Explained why it is important to have these. Then explained what kind of work is needed on my roof and why only that is needed. Told me that I definitely don't need any replacement and what I need is called "maintenance" and should be done once in 7-10 years (I didn't know). Also I needed to replace gutters and Simon quoted this work too. Again, no pushy upselling, just explaining what options are available and how to choose what I need. Then everything was super simple. I paid the 10% downpayment, Simon scheduled 2 days when they would come. On the first day they installed the gutters and painted them to the matching color. These guys are great. I think Joe (the project manager) cares about our roof at least as much as I do. We've recently had two leaks (likely due to a poor solar installation job many years ago. On the first job (a leak around our skylight) Joe tried as best he could to get us to eliminate all the costly options first (for example he had us clean all the leaves under the solar panels). Only when it was clear the leak would not go away did he schedule his crew. They did quality work and the problem was fixed. For our second leak Trio managed to squeeze in the work during a 1-day break in the rain. We were super-happy about this because the next day a huge storm rolled in and we were nice and dry. We had a very good experience with Trio Roofers. Our project manager was Roi and he was great - he spent ample time with us to answer all questions, and was present during the work and after, and is just a pleasure to work with. We did a full replacement our wood shake roof which reached end of its life. Trio Roofers put in a new sub-roof on the whole roof, underlayment, asphalt shakes and O'Hagin vents (but not gutters). They can work both with GAF and CertainTeed - we went with the GAF Timberline "Cool Roof" series which looks pretty and should be energy saver. They handled the permit and inspections completely (in Sunnyvale), we just reimbursed the permit cost (~350$). The work took 4 days (this is long because of the subroof and eaves replacement) and they cleaned everything nicely. Scheduling worked out greatly - they are busy and the lead time was about 2 months, but they had a delay on another project and were able to squeeze us sooner, so we ended up only waiting 2 weeks. I recently had a great experience with Trio Roofers! I manage a small apartment complex and one of my tenants texted me a picture of spot on their wall changing color. Concerned about a potential leak from the roof to into the attic, I did a quick search for roofers near me. Immediately I noticed Trio had 58 five star ratings, not a single one under five stars. The person that answered the phone was polite and professional and able to schedule someone to come out the next morning within a 2 hour window. The next morning I received a call from Roi notifying me that he would be at my property within 30 minutes. When he arrived he was very pleasant and professional. He completed a 15 minute inspection of the roof. He pointed out the area where he believed water was getting in and causing the Sheetrock to discolor. He also pointed out another area that was soft and which he believed needed repair, as well as a few other issues with the roofing and rain gutters. He provided me a detailed estimate by the end of the business day. I accepted his bid as it was not cheap by any means but was definitely fair, given the scope of the work. A storm was coming the next day so he assured me that his men would come and tarp off the 2 areas that were potentially leaking. They followed through and fully tarped off the roof. Two days later I got a call from Roi saying that the weather looked clear for Monday and he wanted to schedule my project for Monday morning. His crew arrived Monday around 8 am and were able to finish the job within about 6 hours! Guillermo, the crew chief was very kind and showed me the before and after pics before leaving. Roi came a couple of hours later and inspected the work. He gave me a detailed description of the work performed as walked me through the pictures. The roof of our home in Scotts Valley leaked so bad during the storms in early 2023 and since it was a really old roof, we decided to have it replaced. We checked Yelp reviews and started to call around to get estimates but the project kept getting delayed due to the ongoing rains and storms. The rain finally died down and Trio was able to give us the earliest appointment to come out for an estimate. They were also more responsive than other places that we called. Yoni (Jonathan) came out the next day after we called to take a look at our roof, explained what was needed to be done, recommended what kind of roofing material we should get, and answered all of our questions. I am not sure what is a good price for a roof replacement because the quotes we got from previous estimates were all over the place. The price he quotes us is at the higher end but we didn't do much bargaining. Because of that, he offered to include the gutter installation with no additional charge. The work comes with a Full 10 Year Workmanship Warranty. We decided to go with him because of their quick response and he said he can do the job within a week or two. Most other places we called gave us 2 to 4 weeks appointment to come out for an estimate and another month or two to come out to do the work even after the storm season. He submitted permit for us with the City of Scotts Valley within a few days and sent his guys out to do the work a week later. They complete the job within a day. It rained a couple of days afterward and I did not see any leakage. I climbed up on the roof to check and everything looks fine. There was standing water on one end of one of the gutters because the gutter was at an angle opposite to the flow of the water. I think this is due to our slanted foundation, not bad workmanship. I called Yoni and he sent his guy the next day. His guy installed another downspout on the other end of the gutter. Overall, I am satisfied with the result. They cleaned up everything after they were done. I still think the price is high but that is just an assumption and we are ok with paying extra for the responsiveness and the quick turn around. read more
