I am writing this review while 5,000+ of my neighbors are suffering through a power outage. Meo and team installed my battery backup over the last month, handled all the permitting and everything, and commissioned it Friday. It is three days later - Monday - and my electricity is purring along while we have a power outage expected to last for hours. Incredible timing! We just finished our solar Installation two weeks ago without any problems and the system has been running strong. To preface this review, our particular property has a few difficulties that many other installers we've contacted either don't even want to touch or they recommended expensive alternatives for. The first and most major difficulty was that our roof is made up of lightweight concrete tile. If you have one yourself, then you know what you're up against. For me in particular, one installer recommended an additional $10k to re-roof the tiles under the panels while other installers just didn't want to do it. Another difficulty we had was that since we have an older house, our electrical panel maxes out at 100 amps. Most installers recommended that we increase it to 125 amps with one installer in particular including a required $5000 panel upgrade into their quote. The last difficulty was actually the fact that the property was located in Fremont itself. Apparently, Fremont has a ton of red tape that other cities don't have and an installer I contacted flat out refused a request for proposal which goes to show how onerous it is for this area. We reached out to Affordable Home Solar (AHS) and we were very surprised that these were all non-issues for them. Meo came out to do the on-site inspection, stated that they've installed panels on lightweight concrete tiles like ours before without any problems, that we didn't need a panel upgrade at all if we didn't want one unlike what other installers were implying, and he came up with a plan and a quote that day. The installer (Hector) came by a few weeks later, attached hooks under the tiles (which I've read was the best solution for these types of tiles), didn't break a single tile, and installed all 13 panels in a day by himself. They finished the electrical work a few days later, managed the Fremont paperwork as well as PG&E's, PG&E did the inspection a few weeks after that, then we received the permit. It was a generally smooth process (if you're in Fremont, apparently the piping needs to be painted to match your wall so make sure you have the paint for that) and the kicker is that they had the best quote per watt out of everyone else. We were about to give up on a solar system altogether and just happened to come across AHS as a final result in our search. My neighbors are all looking into solar systems of their own and I've been recommending AHS to be part of their list of companies to call. If their experience is anything like ours, I'm sure AHS will come out ahead. read more

We installed a solar system back in 2016 using Pedersen -Dean at the time who has since gone out of business. It has worked great, but we added an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) and plan to get a electric car in the future, so we needed to add more power. We found a list of authorized Enphase solar companies and I started to interview companies. Most of the other companies seemed to have sales people that didn't know what they were talking about or tried to get me to upgrade the entire system which was totally unnecessary. Meo Nguyen was great to work with on the upgrade. He listened to what I needed and designed an upgrade that worked for our home. Another employee David Pitt came out and did a thorough inspection of our system to make sure we didn't have any gotchas.
