We met Kevin at a Alameda Municipal Power seminar on doing Solar. Our first goal was to get our Tesla charger installed. Sounds easy doesn't it? Well, we live in a 130 year old Victorian. Do to all of the many upgrades to the power on our house. We have multiple boxes with many fuses. Kevin came over and quickly sorted out which box to work out of, for our new charger. He quoted a price including drawings and a permit with the city and we were on our way. One week later the crew from Sun's Free came over to do the install. They started at 8am and were done by 1pm. No breaks. Just plain hard working, extremely professional and polite guys. They answered all my stupid questions about power and amps. Three days later, Kevin met the city inspector and he signed off with no questions. Next will be to get Kevin to give us a quote for our solar roof, new incoming service and Tesla powerwall. We are very pleased with Kevin and his crew.

I picked up my Tesla and the wall charger over the weekend used the charging cable that comes with the car with regular outlet and got 5mil/hr. About a week before the delivery you get all information about how to charge the car and what are the best ways to do it. Of course at home overnight the best way would be using Tesla's wall charger. I called all of the recommended electrician by Tesla near me and decided to go with Sun's free Solar. They were the most responsive and knowledgeable for this job. They were early to the appointment and did a clean job installing. I would highly recommend Sun's free Solar

    Installed wall charger.

EV Charger Expert - Charger installed

EV Charger Expert proposed installing a smart plug that would monitor demand, and should demand overtax the existing service, throttle back demand from the car charger. That cost $1550 plus a $600 smart plug. The work was done quickly and it worked for Night One. I'm happy.

I needed to install my own Emporia Pro charger with a load balancer and wanted to get it done quickly and with a permit. I reached out to EV Charger Expert. I communicated with two people from the company: Kirill, the sales manager, and Erin, the electrician/installer. **The Good** Kirill is very prompt and responsive. He always answers the phone and is willing to discuss the details. He clearly knows the intricacies of EV charger installations, even in more complex situations. He was able to schedule the installation very quickly, and the work was completed on time. The city inspection was done one month later and passed without any issues. So, my primary goal was achieved: I had my charger installed, permitted, and running ASAP. **The Bad** The cost of the installation was fairly high. I paid $2,450 for installation, materials, and the permit. Since I provided my own charger, I believe the labor and other installation costs represented the majority of that amount. For this price, I expected a very high-quality job. Erin installed and set up everything within one day. Two relatively minor problems occurred. If the company had handled these issues better, I would have given them four or even five stars. **1. The load balancer antenna** My charger includes a load balancer with a small antenna. The antenna is supposed to stick out from the metal subpanel so that it can receive a Wi-Fi signal. After the installation, the antenna was hanging through a large round hole in the subpanel. It looked unfinished and, in my opinion, was both unattractive and potentially unsafe. I could not convince the installer to cover the opening, so I had to do it myself. I made a trip to Home Depot, spent about $10 on parts, and made a simple cover myself. The antenna is now secure and the opening is properly covered. Please see the before-and-after pictures. **2. Stripped subpanel screw** During the installation, one of the four screws holding the subpanel door was stripped. I considered this a safety issue. I notified both the installer and the sales manager by SMS that evening, as soon as I noticed it. The installer called me back two days later and, to put it mildly, was quite rude. He told me that it was not an emergency and that they would take care of it on the day of the inspection. On the day of the inspection, Kirill did not have the appropriate replacement hardware. I suggested using a tap and a slightly larger screw to repair the stripped hole, but he declined. Once again, I had to make a trip to a hardware store, purchase a set of taps and screws, and repair it myself. To be fair, Kirill reimbursed me $30 for the cost of the screws and taps. In total, I made several trips to a hardware store and spent several hours fixing issues that I believe should have been addressed by the installer. **Overall** The installation was completed quickly, on schedule, and passed the city inspection without any problems. Kirill was also very responsive throughout the process. However, given the high price, I expected better attention to detail and better handling of the two relatively minor issues that came up. Neither problem was particularly difficult or expensive to fix, but in both cases, I ultimately had to resolve the issue myself. For me, the installation achieved its main objective, but the quality of the finishing work and the way the problems were handled left something to be desired. For these reasons, I am giving EV Charger Expert three stars.

The female worker at the cashier wanted to get her family in (they were right in front of us) and lied to the rest of the line that was in the building already they it would be fine. Her family was the only family that was allowed to take professional photos with Santa before security came to cut the line off. Nepotism at its finest despite the fact it was already 4p. Common sense and common courtesy was lacking in Christmas spirit today. Luckily, Santa had the Xmas spirit and took selfies with the rest of us in line (the long line outside, I'm not so sure). The employees need to be trained in managing the line better and cutting it off before people stand in line for over an hour. Thanks, Santa! Next year they should have two monitors - one to take the photos and the other so people can select. Then all the employees can be doing something useful at all times to keep the line moving along. Otherwise, it was the same person - the photographer taking the photos, helping choose the photos, explaining the packages, etc. Super inefficient when there is a line - you could tell they weren't used to it.

The last two times I visited here I was at 3% - its not fun. They put this snail or turtle on the dash - and you get this message - something like - you don't have as much power. I once tried to merge onto the highway with this snail on the dash and my little rocket had less power than a 1984 240d - and if your not sure what that is - only thoughts and prayers can get you up to speed in those. Great for IG photos and for looking at on the driveway - but not that pleasant of a daily. I like the Raley's grocery store and there is a coffee shop inside that overlooks the little moat beteween Alameda and Oakland - its a fine place to hang for 45 minutes while it charges - that is if it worked. The last two times the broken charger was of course open and the other working one taken. I think there are only two chargers. Some can charge two cars at one time but I don't think these.... I'm not exactly sure though since it was down each time I went. There was a sign on the broken EV charger. Read something like they knew that it was down and they were fixing it. There are so many private EV chargers on the map - and when you are low with range anxiety and the snail its not a good place to be. That night I ended up going home and getting 15% over night - something that could be done here in 6 minutes if it worked. That 15% did get me the next day to a working charger a bit more away in the Alameda landing shopping center.
