The Juicebox charger failed earlier this month and Paul was at my house the day after I contacted him to troubleshoot the charger. We had a 40amp breaker added to our circuit box for our EV charger, including the wiring to the a wall on the opposite side of the house (via crawl space) and the outlet needed on the outside to plug it in. Installation was quick and easy, and the price reasonable. Several years later we had an issue with the breaker itself failing. One of their crew came to our house the morning I reported it and he immediately fixed it. No charge. The absence of issues is not the measure of great service. Stuff happens. I just had EvCharge4U install a second Tesla charger in my garage. They also installed the first one several years ago. I cannot say enough about this company: they do high-quality work. They were able to route conduit cleanly to the location I requested -- despite the presence of other complex elements in the garage (Tesla Batteries, Gateway, Span panels). They also stayed until everything was completed -- including a complex issue trying to pair with my WiFi (involving the fact that the Tesla chargers cannot deal with WPA3). In my experience, they are willing to consider complex aspects of a design as well (although I ultimately went with a Tesla charger, my original install was considering a Span Drive device -- complete with RS435 communication cables). TLDR: This company is worth every penny! Incredible work from start to finish and looks awesome! Would unequivocally recommend to anyone looking for an EV installer. Their estimate might be higher than other companies but they know exactly what their doing. Long Story: I am so happy to go with Paul's team at EVCharge4U. I sent out three requests for estimates, and not only was Paul the first to respond but he was incredibly consistent in his communication throughout the entire process. And the outcome was terrific (I'll explain more below). I had an expectation (based on limited research) that it would cost between $750-1200 for a home EV charger setup. So when Paul's estimate came back 3x higher than my expectation, and the highest quote from all 3 companies, I was slightly experiencing sticker shock. But, based on his experience and knowledge, he ultimately knew what realistically needed to be done to install the charger. He was the only one of the three companies to initially recommend a DCC-12 box in his estimate because he knew from the pictures I sent and the information on my home that it was going to be the best solution. The other companies didn't include the DCC-12 box in their estimate which made their estimates seem significantly lower. Also, Paul's estimate includes the price of buying the Tesla Wall Connector directly through them as opposed to buying the charger directly through Tesla. The Tesla Wall Connectors periodically goes out of stock on the company's website given the increase in demand for EVs and installing home chargers. So it was nice to know they have them on stock so it wouldn't delay the installation process. Back to the estimate process. When I called the other companies to ask them more about their quotes they discussed the two strategies for my home: 1) run a lot of conduit from the main electrical panel to the garage since the main electrical panel had a lot of extra space and the sub panel in the garage was almost full or 2) add a DCC-12 box to the sub panel in the garage to give the sub panel more space so you don't have to run a lot of conduit along the house. Running conduit along the house can be very expensive (traditionally more expensive than adding a DCC-12 box), but it's hard for a company to know how much conduit they will need to run based on the pictures so they didn't include this cost as an option in the estimate. And since the DCC-12 is not mandatory the other 2 companies didn't include this in the estimate as well. Not including the option for running a lot of conduit or including the DCC-12 kept the estimates from the other two companies much lower. But Paul knew what needed to be done from the pictures and figured strategy 2 was going to be my best option. Because this was the most likely outcome he decided to include the DCC-12 part in my estimate. He could have chosen, like the other companies, to not include this line item which would have resulted in seeing a lower estimate. But he was setting my expectations from day 1 which I strongly value. It took about 5 days from first contacting Paul to getting my installer charged which in my opinion is really fast. In the meantime we talked about possible install locations, and help set my expectations for what installation day would look like. Paul's team, consisting of Chad and Wes, arrived to installation day on time and open to answering all of my questions. We talked about different install locations and were divided between two adjacent walls. Chad was really knowledgeable and recommended the ultimate location for the charger because it wouldn't require drilling an extra hole that would be visible to the outside of the house. Chad listened to our preferences and advised us on the decision that best met our needs. They completed the install in about 3-4 hours and were incredibly professional. Here's why: Our mid-century modern home, like many in San Francisco, was not built to power the high electricity needs of an active family with a treadmill, a heater, an oven and a Tesla wall charger. So, if your situation is like ours, then you probably know that the risk of overloading the box that powers your home can cause a fire. To us, it was shocking to see how many Tesla installers in the bay area were ready to get to work and, without a permit, add a new circuit to install our Tesla wall charger for a quick $500. These same installers will look past the fact that installing a new Tesla wall charger in an older home with modern electrical devices could overload your circuit board and create a fire hazard. But, you won't be running on the treadmill, be using heat and the oven and charge your Tesla at the same time, right? But, if that isn't you, and you know that doing this will void the insurance plan that is there to protect you should a fire happen, then EVcharge4u is for you. Paul saw that our home had 100 amps coming to it and had circuits allowing nearly all of that amperage to be used by our existing electrical products, which include a Woodway treadmill, our heater, our oven and myriad other electrical appliances. Paul saw, and articulated in an email to us, that installing a Tesla wall charger could easily overrun the power to our home, creating a fire hazard. He recommended that we install a switch that monitors our home's electrical usage and only allows the Tesla charger to turn on if it is safe to do so, thereby eliminating the risk of overrunning our circuit. While this solution was slightly more expensive than the other proposals we received, no one, other than Paul, pointed out the fact that our circuits could be overrun, and no one offered a solution that would account for it in the way Paul did. To us, this won the business. Who cares if its slightly more expensive if doing this saves your home from a potential hazard? After emailing us about this, Paul personally came to our home and inspected our electrical panels and confirmed that the switch was the right thing for our situation. Andrew, on his team, did the work to install the charger on the opposite wall from the power source and didn't complain in the slightest when we changed our mind at the last minute that it needed to go there. All in all, it was a pleasure to work with EVcharge4U. They did quality work before the job even started and followed through with an expert install that passed inspection on the first go around. We requested an estimate to have a 240V (NEMA 14-50) outlet installed in our garage for an electric vehicle, as well as having an extra plug added to our backyard. I have an 8 year old wall charger for a Tesla Roadster whose cable/plug was coming apart. First thought was to reach out to Tesla. Learned first-hand that there is no dedicated support for Roadsters much less Roadster wall chargers. They gave me an email address that no one ever responded to. 6 months and multiple ignored e-mails later, went physically to Tesla HQ Service Center in Fremont and was met with blank stares. They recommended I "find an electrician who is comfortable with Tesla wall chargers." (This, from Tesla!!) So I fan out and approach multiple electricians who claim to be comfortable. They either told me they can't help me or tell me I need to have someone from Tesla service the charger. (I didn't even know how to respond to that.) I was getting desperate and was now looking at trashing my wall charger, buying the updated Tesla charger ($500), paying for install (?$300), then an adapter for the Roadster ($800). $1600+ because of a jiggly but otherwise functioning cable just didn't seem right. Then I found EVCHARGE4U. First, the owner Paul got back to me right away. He wasn't sure this was something he could fix but he at least wanted to try and help. Even though I sent my initial inquiry late in the day, he kept coordinating with me well into the evening (even though he wasn't sure I would be a customer in the end). He didn't make any promises but said he'd work on getting his field agent Brian out the next day. A masked and socially-distanced Brian showed up at the end of his full day, again not even sure this would be a billable job. He was careful and went straight to work to figure out a solution, all the while pointing things out and teaching me about my set-up to protect it and take care of it. But the honest truth is it's harder and more inconvenient to do so sometimes. We just don't have the decades of infrastructure and ancillary services of combustion vehicles. What a great company. I needed a charger for an electric vehicle, a new Tesla. I spoke to Paul the owner, and explained that I had some confusion about my electrical panel setup, as I also had solar. My problem was that I had a new panel I didn't know existed, which was my "Main Panel" due to a Solar-Battery system I had Installed some time ago. After talking to Paul at around 5 PM on a Friday evening he agreed to come to my house to analyze and clarify the situation. I couldn't believe that Paul came to my home within a 1/2 hour of our conversation. He showed me the new outside Main Panel below the meter and immediately explained how the job would be done. He was quite knowledgeable, and very pleasant. He knew how to put his customers first. Within a week of the quote I was scheduled, and had the install. The install went smoothly and was done by a very efficient electrician (Douglas) and only took about 2 hours. Everything was done on time and so simply and cleanly. It should be noted that I also received other bids prior to the work, but the bids were considerably higher. So I was able to save a good amount of money. I would highly recommend this company. They are Diamond Certified, and are approved as a Tesla Certified electrical installer which means that the work is done in perfect accordance with the high standards of Tesla.
