COIL did my home charger install after I moved to across the country and transitioned to an electric vehicle. It was a 10/10 experience for a very technical service. People probably overlook the amount of work that goes into a home electrical install of this kind, but COIL goes above and beyond to make sure every step of the process is handled properly with permitting/inspections. As a renter, COIL made sure to appease my landlord's requests along the way and made it very easy to understand for everyone. I barely had to get involved other than telling COIL what I wanted installed, when I could have an installer/inspection out, and in the end payment was incredibly easy with good options. COIL is definitely worth every penny. I do a lot of driving and in just a week since the install I've gotten over 100kw back into my car. I wish they did solar too! Thank you COIL! read more

We moved to a new house, and I (badly) needed a Tesla charger installed. I sent out a few quotes. Coil came back a little higher than others, but when I looked carefully, their quote included everything including permitting and inspections. The others didn't, and when you added it all up, theirs was the cheapest option! They scheduled promptly, showed up early (after checking if it was ok), were accommodating to my requests, and did a great, clean job. I received a response very quickly about my request to have a 14-50 outlet installed with a reasonable price, but I was a little bummed that my agreement came back with a 6-50 outlet. It was my understanding that it was less common of an outlet so my purchasing an adapter would be less likely used at random airBnB etc. No big deal it was the same output of Amps so I signed contract and ordered my converter from tesla. The day of the install a 14-50 was installed. It was what I originally wanted so I returned the adapter and ordered a new one. A week later I'm able to test it and find that it's loose with screws not tightened.(pictured). I guess I can tighten it myself but honestly makes me a little uneasy about the install with a simple thing being loose. I'm about to tighten it myself and hopefully I don't get shocked lol. The whole process of scoping the job, providing a quote, clarifying the technical specifications and scheduling the task was done online in a matter of day. I recommend choosing another electrician on the Tesla list. After waiting for my appointment to install the Tesla Wall to replace an existing Level II charger, the electrician appeared confused and had a difficult time communicating. He seemed upset that the proposed location was not where he wanted the charger, but this location was stated in the original email request. However, his suggested location would not have reached the car's charging port. He stated someone would call me, but they never did. Upon emailing Coil, they stated "we will not be able to service your scope of work at this time". I have now lost over a month of time due to this. Therefore, I do not recommend Coil Electric. read more

So Coil Electric is great! I had them install a 240v outlet (NEMA 6-50) in my garage for my new Tesla. I couldn't be happier with the job they did and my experience from start to finish. First off, Coil Electric is a highly 21st-century electric company (unlike 95% of electricians) in other bay area companies. They responded to my request/initial message within 24 hours and Andy (on their team) helped to answer any questions I had about the process. I then was able to schedule an appointment through their virtual calendar system and receive an electronic invoice describing the scope of work. On the day of my appointment Vladimir and the team showed-up early (definitely a first for me and any electrician). They then explained to me what they would do and before you know it, 4 hours later they were done. Lastly, they had Angela come over to meet me with SF inspectors to complete the job card. These guys were great! I wanted a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed for my Tesla Model 3, but the quotes I was getting weren't working for my budget. Coil Electric was AMAZING! Suz provided options and helped me realize that Wallbox with all its extra features was better for my multi-unit building than the Tesla charger. She happily redid my estimate with a lower price when I realized I overestimated the distance. She also worked with me to find a better, faster and easier installation by going via the ceiling than against the wall. She was patient as I had lots of follow-up questions. The installation team texted me when they were on their way, showed up on time, finished the job on time and cleaned up everything. They were friendly and professional. Coil's price was about 30% less than another estimate I received because that company used a computer formula to generate something that wasn't really customized for my situation so it included a unnecessary charges and there was no human to e-mail or talk to. Finally, they are a local Bay Area company who knows the complexity of multi-unit buildings in SF. I am recommending them to all my friends! read more

While the folks with Coil Elec were nice and helpful, the biggest issue is that they are a middle man (person) and essentially farm out their electrician services to local companies. This set up an array of multiple communications from different people, and I didn't even know which electrician would be doing install until just prior to planned installation. The price was also much higher than other local electricians, likely due to finder's fees. I made an appointment for a Tesla Wall Connector in my garage. I was able to save ~$700 by going through a local company in the Portland area (Young Electric) instead of Coil, who wanted to charge me $2000+. I give them 2 stars (instead of 1), as they were pleasant in their communications. And, they and their sub-companies might do excellent work as evidenced by other reviews. But, I wish there was more transparency into which electrician I'd be using, along with the pricing. read more

The technician came and installed today. I was very happy with his work and price. He was professional, polite and knowledgeable, and went over and beyond to meet the way we want it installed. We wanted to replace the ancient circuit breaker-- as it was literally a fire hazard. We also added in a transfer switch so we can connect our whole house easily to a generator in case of a ​PG&E-level crisis. Finally,​ we added an EV charging outlet and more outlets in the basement. Highly recommend Coil for your EV charger install. I live in a condo and am the first person to get an EV charger installed. I had the WallBox installed. I had SO MANY questions and back and forth conversations with Coil. I never once felt like they were annoyed with me. They always responded very quickly. They are licensed and bonded and we're able to get all documentation and extra questions my HOA had before approval. They provided me with a free quote. They scheduled the city inspector and met them here the day after the job was done. The actual installers that did the job were also extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. I've had ongoing problems with some outlets for years, that finally resulted in a whole circuit going dead. So I contacted Coil Electric through their website, and a short time later got a phone call from the owner Bobby. He showed up soon after and immediately got to work. Not only did he fix the faulty wiring in the fried outlet, he also helped me find and unplug a lamp on the circuit that was destabilizing it. After over a decade of problems, he fixed them all in one hour. He didn't charge a diagnostic fee, just a single hour of labor and less than $10 in parts. I can't recommend him enough. I will confess that part of the reason I chose Coil Electric was the name; my Burning Man camp builds Tesla coils among other high voltage activities.
