Guererros Electric did a major rewiring for us including knob and tube removal in a very tricky old house. Exceptional work and service form start to finish. We got a few bids for this project, which had a tight timeline. The other electricians were visibly overwhelmed at how hard it was going to be to remove the knob and tube. Juan Carlos noticed things they did not notice, nodded his head, and expressed calm confidence and experience. He does knob and tube removal all over town, and his experience was evident at every turn. The work was perfectly done, clean, elegant, and on time (early, in fact!), and all his solutions for our tricky old-house problems were spot on. Guerreros installed a new main service panel in my old house in Kensington in late 2021, when I had an EV on order and was also preparing to install solar. Looks like I didn't write a 5-star review then, but I should have. The original job included a new 220v circuit for charging the new car. All went perfectly with the installation, and I had trouble-free overnight EV charging for a couple of years. A few months ago I started having notifications from the car that the wall plug was overheating, and the car was automatically lowering the amperage (slowing the charging) to prevent potential fires, and that I should have an electrician look at the outlet. Was clearly a problem with either the 220v outlet or with the manufacturer-provided charging cable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I emailed Guerreros explaining the issue. Carlos replied almost immediately to ask if I would be home the next day at 10.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He came out in person, inspected everything and showed me and explained that the outlet was plainly OK and that the problem was the manufacturer's charging cable. As an extra step he replaced the outlet internals with a new unit and advised on next steps and possible charger upgrades on the car side. The team debugged a short that had them under the house and checking every box, panel, etc; finally found that one of our outdoor light fixtures had an inner wire that had rubbed raw to ground. Guerrero's was hired as a subcontractor for an AC installation job we had in July 2020. Their two technicians, Brandon and Damien showed up early and busted tail to get the job done - yes the wore masks the whole time. They were also able to work around needing to turn the power off while we worked from home. My wife and I decided that we didn't like the look of how the work turned out (on the roof versus around the side of the home). The work was excellent, we just didn't like the aesthetic of it. I would also note Damien insisted we should have gone around the side of the house on the first place, while we refused. So we asked Brandon if they could re-route the work. He called Carlos who worked with their schedule, and after we agreed to a change order they were able to reroute the electrical and Brandon and Damien did the work the SAME DAY. We hired Carlos and his team to move and replace a full breaker box/sub-panel replacement in a house in Berkeley. Carlos was always prompt and thorough in his communications. Calls, texts, and e-mails were returned quickly and Carlos took the time to answer any questions we had. On project day his team arrived promptly and with all the supplies and materials needed. They were took extreme care to protect surfaces and to keep dust/debris to a minimum. Their work and wiring was neat and clean and done to proper standards. While it's a small thing, each breaker was labeled with a printed label, as opposed to an unintelligible scrawl. As someone who has been through many electrical projects, it's these details that make a difference. The project was completed on time and within budget. Just to be clear, so everyone can make this decision for themselves. 3 simple installations of lights with no drilling and the switching out of the two lights that are exactly the same will cost you almost $800. I called these guys yesterday about a problem with our dining room ceiling light - it was flickering. It's a pendant lamp and I wasn't sure how I could switch out the light socket to see if that was the problem, so I looked here for an electrician. Juan called me back within an hour of my message to them. He told me his rate and said he could do the work this week, but also described how LED dimmers and dimmer switches have evolved over the years - that it might just be that I have to switch out the dimmer switch and perhaps a different bulb. He described how the new dimmer switches can be adjusted and paired with specific light bulbs. In a three-minute conversation, he walked me through what to shop for and what to consider when installing it. So I tried this and... it's fixed! He gave me a little bit of his time, for free. He was most helpful. And as a result, when I inevitably stumble on something I can't fix myself, I'll hire him to do the work. read more

There is something to be said for staying loyal when you've found a good service provider. We had a fluorescent ceiling fixture that we had owned for many years, which suddenly stopped working. It was urgent for us to get the problem resolved. Although all of Carlos's team were booked up for the next couple of days, he managed to juggle his schedule and send out a team the very next morning to replace the ballast. When that did not fix the problem, he actually sent a family member to my home with a couple of new fluorescent tubes. That, too, did not resolve the issue, which meant that the fixture itself was faulty. Carlos would not quit. He recommended that we replace it with a LED fixture (better light and no more tubes to replace!), and within a couple of hours his team was back with a new fixture.
