I called Esed hoping to schedule an urgent service repair after the circuit breaker for our furnace tripped and I could not get it to reset and turn back on. Several weeks ago the ceiling heater in my back bathroom stopped working. Yesterday I finally got around to texting Esed. He texted me back and we arranged for him to come out today at 3:30 to check it. It had been installed in 2006 or 7. It controls the light and contains a heater and a vent. I never use the vent and seldom use the heater, so it wasn't an emergency. Esed arrived promptly w/ his tools. He went upstairs w/ his tools and checked out the fixture, which worked fine for him. We agreed that I should have tried it again. He said it was a Panasonic, which is very reliable. He estimated that it was about 25 years old because the housing was made of metal rather than plastic. It may be that it was manufactured and then installed years later. He charged his usual troubleshooting fee, which I was happy to pay because I might never have turned it on again, which would have been a pity. We have an old house which has most of our appliances on only one circuit. When that circuit gets overloaded all of them go at once. Normally we just swap out a fuse and flip the breaker back on, but today replacing the fuse wasn't working - which left us without Internet on a very very busy work day. We called Ideal to schedule an appointment, assuming they would need to come and take a look and see if anything was wrong with the fuse or the breaker box. Instead the owner advised us that before he charged us for an hour or more of troubleshooting time we should first get entirely new fuses and swap them all out, and call back if that didn't work. Thankfully it DID work, since all that had happened is more than one fuse had burned out. We were so busy trying to deal with work at the same time that we didn't think to try that. We've hired Esed for a couple different jobs now - first was to run conduit to some flood lights that we wanted on some exterior walls.
