Valery installed a new 240 circuit for a backyard spa. We contacted three companies; one never got back to us with a bid, and we chose Advanced over the other because of the excellent communication. He has an office manager and we could communicate via text to Valery, phone to the office or email. Timing was a bit complex because another contractor was installing paving where the spa was to go. And we had a third crew digging the trenching for the electrical line in the evening after the yard was dug up and before pavers were laid. Valery and his office manager coordinated and made themselves available when we needed them. He also stopped by after hours to make sure the digging guys knew exactly where to dig. I think, all told, Valery must have come over five times to check on the project. He also made a trip to the spa store to make sure he understood how to hook up our particular spa. I can't imagine that any other electrician would spend so much time and attention on our job outside of his actual electrical work. Despite the extra trips, he held firm on his original price. You should hire this crew! Valary and his team committed to a complex job on a hard deadline, moved heaven and earth, and delivered as promised, on time, with excellent quality, and amazingly sensitive customer service. I had no idea a contractor could be perfectly reliable, but Advanced Electrical delivered total, perfect satisfaction, far beyond any reasonable expectation. We had presented Valary with two challenges: a moderately challenging job; and an EXTREMELY tight deadline with no room for error or delay. Valary accepted the challenges and delivered everything he promised, even when that required weekend work and extra days on the job, (and without demand for extra pay). We had to upgrade the electrics in an early 20th century Craftsman house with antique knob and tube wiring -- a job that required cutting holes in the walls of every room and hallway -- 200 square feet of holes in fine plaster walls. Once the electric work was done, we needed to close the holes, replaster most rooms, re-paint the entire interior, and do a heavy-duty post-construction cleanup before the day we absolutely had to move in. Advanced Electrical went from delivering an estimate to completing the job in a month, with zero delays and zero compromises of quality. I love Valary and his team! Started out well enough. Made an appointment, but they had to reschedule last minute. Owner himself came over the next day and gave an honest assessment of the job, saying that we're better of doing time and materials instead of set quote, as it would save us money. Struck us as honest enough and wanted to book him. He promised to text us to set an appointment, but that's where the review fell off. Valary Gores of Advanced Electrical was an amazing electrician. My review is based on this story: I found a free hot tub on Craigslist last week, and I had no idea if it worked or not. He took the time to double check that, came out first to make sure the conditions were right to wire it; he listened to my concerns about cost, aesthetics and more. Then it gets more interesting. He emailed me what I thought was a quote for the job, which was unbelievably cheap, so I was thrilled. The day before he came out, he called to double check and resent the full quote. I was so bummed to learn that it was triple what I had thought because of my error, not his - he had sent the cost of materials first. I was too busy to notice and did not double check. Instead of defending his quote, etc. his communication was amazing; he focused on "what should we do now." We worked out a mid-point price, and he and his staff did the entire job in one day. I came home from work, thinking like most jobs on my house, that it would be a mess around here. Instead, I found he had cleaned, and filled the tub and it was heating for my first hot tub. He also easily explained electrical safety issues which are important for me. My son was thrilled and ran to get his swim suit. What really blew me away was his humility regarding the miscommunication, and the aesthetic considerations of running the pipes just under my biggest plants and around so that no view in the garden was obscured. My dryer wasn't working and when I found out it wasn't the machine but, the lack of power, I was feeling anxious about how much an electrician would cost! So I started to research Yelp and ended up with Valary because they were still open when I called (after 3pm) and I got an appt the next morning at 8AM! I was told up front what the rates and minimums were (1 hour charge) and they also asked me how I found them and thanked me on the phone before my appointment. Valary showed up and was very pleasant and professional. He explained what was wrong with the power--the jaws on my outlet was loose and needed to be replaced. He also discovered that the connection on breaker panel for the dryer was damaged also:( The panel can be very expensive to replace (over $1,000) but, he reconfigured the breakers using the spare slot so, I ended up only paying for the one hour + parts--whew! I was having trouble getting an electrician to deal with some malfunctioning overhead lighting that was bothering my tenants. I spoke with Valery on the phone and he quoted me a (reasonable) hourly rate, describing what he suspected to be the problem. He was able to go and fix the problem the same day, which was greatly appreciated by the tenants! Before starting the repair, he called and gave me the choice of whether to repair or replace one of the lights that was really old, and quoted the cost of the materials. The bill was itemized and consistent with what I was led to expect. Overall, I really appreciated Valery's clear communication and expertise and would definitely use his services again! read more

I am so glad to see Advanced Electrical finally on Yelp!...So I can praise Valary to the world! Valary has been doing electrical work for our company for about 2 years now. We formally had a different electrician...who did somewhat of a spotty job. Valary came into our establishment and thoroughly identified every electrical outlet, electrical panel and wiring system. With this information we have been able to create an entire electrical plan on our floor plans. This has been invaluable! Our office building is old and we have new needs frequently. Valary is always quick to accomodate our requests and thoroughly addresses our needs by sizing up the situation. He is happy to answer questions for us and has gone as far as trouble-shooting electric items/tools ... not part of a typical electricians job, but he does it none-the-less. Not sure why these guys don't have more reviews. I interviewed a lot of electricians for a project to construct a third bedroom out of existing square footage in my house. Valery's estimate wasn't the lowest, but he drew up a plan right in front of me and overall I was more confident that he would get the work done right than any of the other electricians I interviewed. He and his crew came on my chosen day (we had to work around all the other contractors on-site) and completed the work in one day, which was exactly what I needed. He did have to pull a guy off another job and later pushed some of the guys on my job to another job which was a little strange but they got the work done. Valery's payment terms were very reasonable; he offered to wait until I'd had the final inspection for the final installment even though that inspection was likely several weeks away as we were waiting on some windows. He also provided good advice regarding which brand of LED lights would work well for us (I guess most of them produce quite cool light that doesn't look great in a residential setting). Overall I was really happy with the service I received from Advanced Electrical. read more

We were very happy with Valary Gore's and his team. We had a few odd electrical jobs to get done in our newly purchased old house in Berkeley. Valary met with me to review our scope: Change out a few outlets to GFCI, update a dryer outlet, troubleshoot an exterior light fixture that was waterlogged, and add power outlets in our basement to existing switches. I wasn't sure if our project was too small for him, but he never made me feel that way. He was up front about a time-and-materials fee when I asked and this makes sense to me, especially on old houses. Andrew, his journeyman, did the work and asked very good questions ahead of time. He even went to Home Depot and bought us new cover plates and an exterior flood light to install that day. They did all the work in about 3 hrs. I first worked with Valery when I had my kitchen remodeled. My contractor, who I loved, works with him so I knew I could trust him. Valery replaced my circuit breaker box outside and did a great job. At some point after that someone tapped into the box and attached an outlet so they could use my electricity! I had a chance to see Valery's work at my job before hiring him to rewire my house. One of the things that impressed me was, asked to replicate wiring done by a different electrician on a different floor of a building, he politely refused, stating that the work wasn't up to code and would give us problems down the line.
