These guys did a fantastic job adding 4 light fixtures, 2 outdoor GFCI, wiring some outlets etc. While these are relatively simple job, retrofitting a century old house comes with a lot of caveats. From Sal coming to provide a quote to them managing Berkeley's permitting regime to making sure everything is done to the strict code, they did everything well with great communication and avoided delays for my plaster and paint crew to start on time. I want to give a huge shout to Alex for his services today! Backstory is I got my couch professionally cleaned a couple weeks back, and the machine blew out 3 of my outlets!. I tried resetting the breaker multiple times and even watched videos on YouTube to make sure I was doing it right!! Nothing worked so I knew it time to call an electrician to have it fixed... Flash forward to today, Alex stopped by to assess the problem, and long story short, I'm an idiot. Our electric wall heater wasn't working. Called Boyes on a Thursday afternoon and they came out the next morning. They found damaged/burnt wires inside the heater--a safety hazard! They checked the other heater and found the same thing, caused by the wire gauge being incompatible with the breaker capacity. The electrician Diego was terrific to work with. He was able to make a temporary fix that eliminated the hazard for the time being while we order parts for the breaker. Reasonable cost. I highly recommend Boyes Electric! read more

We used them in January 2025 to install an EV charger. We put the job out for bid and they were one of the few that actually responded. They were not the cheapest (within reasonable range), but we went with them because of the Yelp reviews and would rather pay a little more for a quality job, which they did. It's been almost a year, and it works great. Pricing was transparent and it was easy to schedule and communicate. We'll use them again in the future. read more

Hired Boyes in May of 2025. Simple rewiring job to run a circuit from one side of the house to the other to allow us to switch from a gas dryer to an electric dryer. Earlier this year, we noticed that our microwave oven would occasionally trip the circuit breaker in the garage. We were able to rule out any issues with the appliance itself, and we were concerned there were issues with the wiring or the breaker. We worked with Boyes to get the issue diagnosed, and they came onsite and replaced the breaker in a timely manner. Boyes just completed the installation of our EV Charger in our garage. They (Oscar and companion) showed up promptly at 8:00 AM. Figured out how they were going to run the 240V wire from the outlet box on the side of the house into the crawlspace of the garage. It was not an easy task. I had an appointment for a quote on a major job exceeding $10K. They rescheduled on the same day due to inspection issues on another job, but I was ok with that. During the actual appointment I was told a lot about permit requirements and plans that were inconsistent with what 2 other electricians told me or proposed.
