First time coming here and was in awe of all the different lights they carry! Literally everything you need is here! Also it's hard to find just a light store in the bay area. Hubby and I came with the intention of looking for a bathroom vanity light but found so much more! The bathroom light we found was a bar style which is contemporary and will sit above our mirror. It has the dimmable option and is bright enough to light up our 8ft by 8ft bathroom. It was $250 before tax. You are also able to control the warmness of the light too. They did not have our light in shock but it will ship from Los Angeles in 1.5 to 2 weeks. We had the option to pay half now and half later or pay in full which is great depending on how much your light costs. On top of a bathroom light we saw foyer lights, outdoor pathway lights, floor lamps, table lamps, dining table lights and more! All with so many styles and there is something for everyone! It ranges from modern to artistic to classic styles. The foyer light we wanted was $900 and has super cool circles within each other! There was a smaller option for $225 but go big or go home right? So next time we will buy the foyer light when we are for sure ready to buy. The reason we didn't was because if you return there is a 25% restocking fee so we want to be sure we want it before committing! All the workers were super helpful and welcoming. If they did not know the answers they found out for us. They checked in with us multiple times to make sure we were being helped even though it was busy. When Sean, the owner of Berkeley Lighting, found out he offered to take care of it. He came to my house and installed :two: new lights and they are working well. Sure, you can find cheaper and more run-of-the-mill lighting at Home Depot, but this place is a veritable candy store for lighting. When you enter, the initial view may look a bit cacophonous -- but it's actually just a lot of stuff -- and there is a method to the organization. We've been there three times now, and we're already looking forward to going back to pick up our most recent order. Whether you're looking for floor lighting, desk lamps, track lighting, under cabinet, porch lights, etc., they have it all. . . . and that's just what you see out. They have reams of catalogs to choose from and from which to place special orders. What makes this company even *more* amazing is their customer service; they genuinely want to help, and you'll probably be greeted within a few minutes of entering. They won't crowd you or hover - in fact, you should prepare to be a bit patient since it can get busy at times. That's OK, there's PLENTY to look at while you're there. Be forewarned, there are soooo many cool things, you'll probably end up considering, if not buying, things you didn't know you just had to have until you saw it. As you look around, you may very well be shocked by the prices of some of the higher end pieces. Eeek! Some of those are works of art, though, and when you see something that's handcrafted in Germany and built to last a lifetime, you might expect to pay a pretty penny. We'd especially like to call out Eric, who has helped us a number of times, and has been simply amazing! He really goes above and beyond, has a great sense of humor, always gives us honest feedback, and even remembered us and our conversations even from our first visit. I never thought I would nerd out on lighting, but I'm hooked. Do yourself a favor, even if you're just looking for a new lamp, go visit this place. I just had a fantastic, unexpected, and unusually good service encounter at Berkeley Lighting -- the type of thing that really does encourage in-person shopping rather than online (and I'm a big online shopper). We bought a large order of light fixtures several years ago for a residential rewiring project and one of the led lights was going bad recently, so I brought it back in for some advice and replacement. I was fully ready to buy a replacement, but the extremely friendly and helpful Sean Mirbaha told me that the light should not have failed so soon and he quickly grabbed several replacement options at no cost. Another salesman came to assist and went immediately to the men. I looked up in surprise as I was not greeted as I walked in the door nor at that point. I was charged a restocking fee of 25% for changing the lamp's color, and my order still needed to arrive! So I went to the store to complain, and they showed me the receipt with the new policies in fine print, as I should have checked it before buying the merchandise. Amazing service at Berkeley Lighting today. We came in with a reading lamp that we purchased at this store 25 years ago that stopped working. Manager Robert Wien took it apart and identified the burned-out socket, but told us that the replacement parts are no longer available. Then he got an idea, and switched out the halogen fixture with an LED fixture, fishing around in boxes of old parts as he rewired the whole thing. So, we saved a couple of hundred bucks (double that, actually, because we would have had to replace the matching lamp, too), saved this lamp from the landfill, and only had to pay $12 for the new bulb!
