Super Solar was Super. It was easy to work with the two brothers Szilard and David. They were attentive to detail, explained things to me, and made planning easy. My solar installation needed to wait until the neighbors tree was trimmed and I put a new roof on my house. Szilard helped me get into contract with him and PG&E before the rates changed and waited until my house was ready for the install. The install went faster than planned. David showed me how to use the app on my iphone to read the status. I'm happy to recommend Super Solar. read more

I could tell within the first few minutes that Super Solar was the right choice to install my solar system. It was installed a few months ago, and it's been working great ever since. When it was first installed, the Enphase app was only showing what was being produced, and not any of the other readings like consumption, etc., and they came down to troubleshoot it immediately, without hesitation (as you could assume sometimes from a contractor after the work has been completed already). They realized that it was something in the sub-panel that may have not been properly setup by an electrician. So instead of being like, "that's on you and your electrician to handle", they got back on the job to make it work as expected. That to me was the icing on the cake of a job well done, that they actually cared about doing the best work possible (and quickly), even after the work was completed. I've worked with a lot of contractors over the years, and I would definitely say without a doubt that these guys (Slizard and his brother David) know the business in and out, and do some of the best work I've seen from start to finish. 10/10. This is a follow up to my prior posting 7 years ago. I had Super Solar back to do a check up on the system they installed. They arrived on time, did a thorough inspection and provided me with a report on the performance of the system. The report showed that the system out performed the estimated production by 10%!! Szilard was responsive, very scientific in his approach to the solar installation and was very informative when it came to addressing my engineering curiosity about solar installation. He took the effort to gather the necessary data from our roof (we live in a shaded area) and established that it was possible to install solar here, and explained the pros and cons of different system designs to me. I messaged him during peak demand time in california, ie mid-march 2023 ahead of the NEM 2.0 change. Super Solar installed solar panels on our home ten years ago. Other than occasional technical questions relating to our inverter (which Szilard was quick to help with), we had no issues. Nothing better than a home improvement project that you can stop thinking about. This winter ('23-'24) we experienced error codes on the inverter and loss of production due to insulation problems in our panels. Szilard and his crew determined that it was a manufacturing defect and helped us secure a refund for the faulty panels. Szilard worked hard to procure replacement panels (newer and more efficient) at a fair price. He pointed out that we could add a few panels to increase output without additional rack installation or roof penetration (foam roof - it's a whole thing). On the whole, our experience has been that Super Solar is a fair, trustworthy, conscientious provider for residential solar power. read more

Szilard installed solar panels on our roof summer of 2023. He had been referred by a friend who'd had a strong experience. Overall the experience was excellent. A few highlights: 1. We originally reached out in 2022 but had to push our project back - no issues from Szilard and team to wait (until we had some drainage and waterproofing resolved) 2. The project completed on time (or maybe under time) with Szilard and team being very clean, professional, etc. 3. The inspection raised a very minor SF-style issue - which Szilard also quickly resolved 4. AND our shutoff panel was vandalized months after install and Szilard repaired the panel no charge! Our electric bill is also down by 75% total inline with Szilard's initial estimate. Go for it! read more

Absolutely great service from start to finish. Szilard is about as knowledgeable as you could ask for, and it's great to have someone local to have access to. He set me up with other contractors who did excellent work on an electrical service upgrade and on roof replacement, then did the solar panels in a timely fashion and with a minimum of hassles (none that I can think of, in fact). The end product is just fantastic, and is exactly what I'd hoped for and anticipated. He even follows up on technical and other questions after the job is done. And the cost? I called Super Solar and spoke with Szilard about solar maintenance. We bought our home a couple years back and had never really figured out what needed to be done for the solar system. Szilard spent almost 30 minutes on the phone with me to help me understand the system, and what I need to think about / how to monitor it. Went through all the numbers to help me understand output, performance etc. No charge from him for the time, just a nice gesture and it was super appreciated. This review is a little bit late because he installed the panels about five years ago. He did a really good job. We did initially have a problem with the inverter, but it wasn't his fault at all and we did get that resolved eventually by getting a new inverter, but since then whenever I've had any question or problem or anything to do with the solar system, he comes right away and super pleasant About it even though obviously he's not making money after seven years. He does really back up all his products and it's a very personal service. It's not like some giant company that may or may not even show up. He really does care about each and every customer, it's a family run business... so if you're considering going solar, try a smaller company like this for a great experience and stellar customer service after the installation that's really important read more

Szilard and Super Solar are excellent. I am a very particular and demanding homeowner - I do most of the work on my house myself and when it comes time to hire someone I hold them to the same high standards. It can be tough on everyone. Super Solar installed an oversized system with battery backup - our roof is maxed out now. We have a goofy roof type - torch-down composite panels - that confused all of the other solar companies we contacted. Not only had he heard of the roof type, but he had worked on several previously. And because he was one of the few companies to actually visit my house, and the only to actually go up on the roof, he was able to see that before the bid process - so no gotcha price increase. Throughout the design phase, Szilard was able to clearly explain every step and listened to my suggestions (demands) and incorporated those into the design. It felt very much like a team effort. Installation day was fit in between atmospheric rivers (fall-winter 2021) and was complete in a tight 48-hour window. Nevertheless, they were able to install all 21(!!!) panels and all conduit runs in a clean manner - minimizing the holes in my roof and in the house exterior. I have no regrets about how they installed things, and don't feel the need to fix anything they did - high praise. One things that is particularly impressive is that they managed to avoid all the random electrical boxes and complex conduit runs that seem to be common in other solar installations. The system was commissioned the next day by Szilard's brother David. An easy and painless process, and David took the time to carefully explain all facets of my system. Perfect. Since installation, both David and Szilard have been in touch multiple times to finalize the PG&E paperwork (they take care of all of this), and to check in about the system. Szilard and his brother David are exceptional. The attention to detail and care with which they go about the design, installation, and commissioning of the solar system met and exceeded my standards. Solar is an industry full of pitfalls, bad actors, and inequalities of information - so it important to go with someone honest, experienced, and dependable. Man oh man!! I just got my first full months statement from PG&E. We produced $68 more electricity last month than we used. I knew we made a good decision installing solar and I expect we'd do well since our house has a great Southern exposure but to earn start out with a $68 credit the first month is just unreal. My wife and I recently purchased a house that had a solar panel installed and the inverter said it had a fault. I looked on Yelp, liked the reviews, and called, hoping to get some assistance. The owner was able to assist me with getting the system running again without even having to come out! (Silly me, a switch had to be turned on that was off, but I know next to nothing about this system). When we are ready to have our system maintenanced, I will definitely be calling here! read more

Szilard and his crew are the best. I went through a number of other solar providers (including the big guys like Sun City) and felt so confused. But Szilard stepped us through everything very clearly and helped us really think about our energy uses, including future energy uses. All the other guys just wanted to see my PG&E bill and assume the system should equate the last few month's usage. The install was smooth and hassle free for me. They do a clean install with the least amount of visual impact on both your roof and where they need to tie into your electrical. Completely disagree with Honest R's 4/25/19 review, Szilard and his company are small, high quality, and cautious about what projects they take on. In contrary to this review, I live in a very nice neighborhood in Lafayette and was promptly referred to Szilard's former partner's solar company as he was too busy. He took time to reassure me about his referral, and his colleagues performed top notch, efficient, and very affordable work. The negative review appears scathing and exaggerated, and seeing as how Szilard and company are genuinely good, honest, and hard working folk, they deserve no less in their clients. A little over 18 months ago, I had Super Solar install a solar system on my roof, after having estimates provided by 3 different highly-Yelp-rated companies (including Super Solar). It's a 4.5kW system, with a dual inverter (I have half my panels facing east and the other half west), and it has been performing beautifully. I didn't bother writing a review at the time because the reviews already posted said pretty much everything that needed to be said, and there were a decent number of them. What's prompting the review now, you might ask? (or maybe you're not, but I'm going to tell you anyway...) Yesterday (a Friday), Alameda Municipal Power sent me a nice note telling me that to finish processing my rebate, they needed a copy of the "paid-in-full" solar installation invoice. Which would have been OK, but I'd told Super Solar in 2012 not to bother sending me one, since I had the original contract and the cancelled checks. Ugh. I sent them an email late yesterday afternoon (yes, a late Friday afternoon) asking if they could help out, and -- in less than an hour -- Gyuri had emailed me a copy. THAT is customer service. So, not only are they professional before and during the job, but they're still there for you almost 2 years later. read more

Super Solar is a fabulous local company. Gyuri responded to my inquiry about installing solar panels the day after I contacted them. He both emailed and called and took the time to discuss several options with me. After I sent them the information they needed, they responded with a thorough, detailed, and well-written proposal. They were the first to do so, and by far the most professional, articulate, friendly, and reasonably priced. Soon, Gyuri and Szilard were on my roof determining how to make a system work that would work on my oddly angled roof. We needed to split the system across my rather small roof, which required additional materials that I did need to pay for, but they did the extra work at no additional labor cost. I now have an electrical meter that is reading in the negatives, and powering my new electric car with the sun hitting my roof! These are real, knowledgable people, who live only a few miles from me, are willing to work for a normal person such as myself (not a wealthy person with a huge house in the hills), and did the work themselves. I love that my money is going to support people in my community and that there's no disparity in wages between the top and bottom of the company - they are the company! It is clear that they believe in the mission of their work - they're not in it only for the money. They are among the most professional and friendly people I have worked with in any capacity. According to Szilard, Super Solar was overbooked and unable to take on my project. I sent another email from a different email address and gave a new home address. This address was in a more expensive neighborhood. All of a sudden, Super Solar is interested in the project. Super Solar will respond to you based on your address. My money is just as good as the folks in the adjacent neighborhood. I'm happy to take my business to another solar company. I'm inclined to post screenshots of the emails from Szilard and attach them to this review. When spending $15,000 on solar panels, I need to know that the company has integrity. Szilard and Super Solar are the reason I finally broke down and got a Yelp account to contribute and not just read reviews. Deciding on a solar system is a big decision in the dollar dept. Working with Super Solar I knew I was getting the right system for my needs. Szilard explained the process, the equipment, and answered all my questions with obvious expertise. He didn't apply sales pressure the way some of the other solar leasing companies do (looking at you Sungevity) and was patient with me as I worked through a long process of figuring out financing the project. Szilard was also able to bring in subcontractors who were equal to him in skill and professionalism to complete some electrical and roofing work that needed to be done as well. I am now a solar home for about 6 months and I couldn't be happier with the results. Szilard even followed up after monitoring my system's production to recommend some tree trimming work that would help increase my production during winter months. Above and beyond! All I can say is if you're thinking about buying a solar system and not leasing one from those companies that pitch you at Home Depot call Super Solar. But make sure you do it early. I have to say we started to fee the pressure to better manage our energy needs when during the winter the electric heater in our daughter's room raised our electricity bill significantly. In our new home, which required many other fixes, the last this we were considering is to put solar panels to the roof. Then, the pressure about the prospective changes in net metering made us start a research in an alternative energy source. Contacted multiple companies and felt very uncomfortable with some of their sales person's pressured approach. By the time I came across Super Solar's reviews, I knew what I want and I did not want. I wanted a company that explains how my energy needs can be sourced differently without the pressure to purchase. I also wanted to feel that the company will be there in the future as my needs changes (now we are thinking about an electric charging station). Connecting with Szilard he was very kind to explain not just how my energy needs can be sourced differently but some of the basics that was unknown to us without the engineering technical background. Super Solar is extremely thorough, professional, and pleasant to work with. We have been researching solar for many years, and decided this was the time to end our astronomical PG&E bills. We received numerous quotes. One of the companies invited to provide a proposal claimed we have too much shade from Redwoods nearby to make it economical. Super Solar came out and did a thorough analysis, determining that we could certainly host a large system that will take us to $0 electrical costs. I can't detail the myriad items they covered in advance--including sending me photos of a conduit on the roof that needed to be put back together. The installation crew was amazing: professional, friendly, polite, and pleasant to have around for the several days the installation took--clearly extremely competent. There was no trace of them when they had finished (except for the panels on the roof!) My engineer husband had several questions before, during and after, and received detailed answers. The City inspection cleared with flying colors, and Super Solar took care of all the paperwork with PG&E, keeping us well informed of every aspect. Szilard and Gyuri (Super Solar) are knowledgeable, professional and responsive to emails and phone calls--the qualities one would look for in any service provider. They recently finished installing 18 Canadian Solar panels with a Sunnyboy inverter for us. The inverter included a power-outlet that works during daylight (in case of a power outage) and web-connect that allows me to monitor the plant live via the web on my phone or laptop. They finished the entire project in 2.5 days. The job included a 10-year warranty for equipment and labor. The solar panels and inverter work great and I've had no problems since they were installed. The job looks very clean and professional and I'm very happy with the end result. Before I went with them, I got at least 1 other quote and I called/looked into several other companies. With Super Solar, I liked the fact that I was talking to the same guys who came for the quote and would later go on your roof and install the panels/inverter. With their competitors, I ended up talking mainly to salesmen (or employees who would not be doing the actual installing). The price was either less or about the same as the competitors I researched, but I think I got better quality for that same price. I highly recommend them. read more

I work in the commercial construction industry and have managed three solar installations over the past 7 years. I've been watching the solar industry closely, panel efficiencies and installation costs and decided to pull the trigger in early 2016 to take advantage of the Fed tax rebate. I spoke to six different installers (some of whom I wish I never game my cell phone number) and decided to move forward with Super Solar. Szilard not only provided the most cost effective quote, but he also uses all American made products and is a local installer based in the Oakland hills. He was also flexible on the start date, which made things easier. The permit process, installation, PG&E interconnect and inspection couldn't have gone smoother. There were a few hiccoughs around getting set up with PG&E and one change to the plans (matching the plans to what was installed, not the other way around) after inspection, but those were all handled within 2 days. he is enthusiastic and confident. Super Solar recently installed a solar system at my home. Szilard and his team are real professionals. They understand solar and did a great job working with me at each juncture in the process. They coordinated with a roofing contractor, the city, and PG&E perfectly to make sure everything went very smoothly. The installation itself is great - the system has a low profile so that it's hardly visible and it doesn't have unnecessary conduits on the roof or down the side of the house.
