Poor customer service...but good field techs. Bottom line -- this was more frustrating, stressful, and wasteful of my time than necessary; highly avoidable stress via a simple phone call that never happened. I had a storage battery (installed by Synergy) that was deforming. (This is a potentially acute safety issue requiring replacement.) A service date and time were scheduled and confirmed via email. To be present for the appointment, I cancelled meetings and a business trip. On the day of service, I called (at approx. 11:30am) to re-confirm the time and requested a phone call if there were any delays. Unfortunately, no one showed up. I called and emailed Synergy several times to request a status update but received no response. It was only after the close of business that I received an email stating that no one would be coming that day, and offering to reschedule for the following morning. The lack of communication and disregard for my time is disappointing and frustrating. (Again, a simple phone call informing me that the technical service crew would be delayed or unable to fit me in would have been reasonable.) Eventually (the following day), my battery was replaced; the positive is that the technical staff know what they are doing. It would have been beneficial for the administrative team to support their field team's good work via common sense communication. I had a a 17.85kw system and 2 powerwalls installed on my home in Livermore by Synergy Power. It was a great experience all the way through, from the beginning sales calls to the installation and finished product. I started the process in May, signed a contract in June, and had my system installed in August. After years of being on the fence with solar, speaking to dozens of installers/consultants, we finally decided to pull the trigger. It was down to Synergy Power and one other company. The pricing between the two was very tough to beat, but DeAnn Young from Synergy was able to work with me. DeAnn was amazing and transparent. She let me choose what panels I wanted whereas most installers gave you what they have in their inventory. DeAnn was not pushy at all and I would highly recommend you reach out to her if you have any questions as she has years of experience and a ton of knowledge in the solar industry. Despite the huge influx of installs due to the tax incentive ending in September 2025, Synergy kept my install date as promised. It took us a few weeks to decide and sign the contract, yet the install date never changed. Synergy could've easily pushed my install date due to our indecision. I highly recommend Synergy Power if you're thinking of going solar. I had 3 different quotes, even 1 that was less than Synergy's. My goal was for at least 7kW system + at least 10kW battery and backup. Below is my detailed review of why I went with Synergy. Initial Talks: I had the option to do over video or in-person. I opted for in-person and met the wonderful rep, DeAnn Young. She took the time to talk with us and help us understand all of our different options. She brought up the fact that Synergy Power has NABCEP certification - which I didn't even know about. The other installers never mentioned this, so I'm assuming they did not have this certification. She was very responsive and detailed. Even though we were going back and forth discussing their quote vs. the competitor's quote, I never felt pressured; I never felt like I was bothering her with my barrage of questions. She was always there to provide me with all of the information I needed to feel informed. The installation: they had one heck of an amazing crew. I had the pleasure of meeting Hunter, Julian M, Nate, and Brian. We discussed the installation process and options, such as in-door vs outdoor battery. I believe it was Hunter and Julian that gave me detailed information about all of the regulations required if I wanted the battery to be inside the garage which honestly probably saved me quite a headache with the inspectors. I am so happy to report that our backup battery worked like a champ! It's something you definitely have to consider if you have members in your family who have electrical medical devices. In our case, my husband and I both sleep with cpap machines. Today, at about 6:57 am, the power went out and inside of five seconds, literally, maybe even less, the battery kicked in! I know this because I couldn't breathe normally, and I felt the air in my cpap was off, and all of a sudden, like magic, it started up again. I did notice, however, that the force wasn't as strong, but it was sufficient until the PG&E was restored. In this case, it came back on in about two and half hours. It was also nice to get a notification from the My Solar Edge app that the battery came on, too! We are so excited this worked for us and actually saw it in action! I know this is obviously an additional expense, but if you're on the fence about having a backup battery, I tell you, especially with life saving devices, it was and will be a godsend in outages to come, so please consider it thoroughly because you might as well do it at the same time you're having the panels installed. I initially started the solar roof process with Tesla since I was able to get a quote through the app/website pretty quickly so it made it pretty easy. However, while going through the consultation process, it just took longer than expected. My friend referred me to Synergy Power as he had a great experience with them for his solar roof project. We just very recently successfully installed a 8Kw-DC solar power system with Synergy Power. The system includes a 19 Panasonic panels and a Tesla Powerwall 3 with an extension unit. Eric, owner of Synergy Power, came in person to give us a non-salesy, non-price-driven, vendor-neutral presentation, and recommended us an honest, non-biased solution. Even though we were also evaluating another vendor at the same time, it took us only a few days to decide to work with Synergy Power. Part of it was because his company was already recommended to us by one of his clients who happens to be an ex-coworker of mine, plus the fact that Eric was keen to help us on some Q&A even over a weekend, and promised us a fast installation once all the materials are ready. The actual installation took place after the holidays and its execution was flawless without glitches. After 2 years I found the roof leakage near the the solar panel electric line penetrating the the roof. Per my request two technicians, Israel and Phil came the next day and quickly and efficiently solved the problem? which was caused by accumulated debris on the roof. Phil and his team from Synergy did an incredible job installing our 2 PowerWall 3's and Gateway. They were on tiime, courteous, helpful and kept everything neat and clean. One day after our installation we suffered 3 PG&E outages in the same day...no problem. In the blink of an eye our power was back on. Two days after that we had another outage while having friends over for dinner. The six of us sat there enjoying the rest of our evening while the neighborhood was pitch dark. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fair price + excellent customer service I did quite some research for our solar installation with help from EnergySage and Yelp. We decided to go with a local small business with good reputation given the complexity of our project (3 stories new construction). Solar installation is not like car manufacturing, every house is different (shades from trees and neighbors, roof condition, etc.), customization is the advantage of small business over large company and I'll explain why Everything went quite smooth for our solar project. I had my solar system designed, installed, inspected and ported into PGE grid hassle free. But when we started the system, I noticed from the app that 2 out of 14 panels somehow had been producing only 1/3 to 1/2 power comparing with others. Dave also noticed this issue and reached out to the construction team proactively, they figured the issue caused by neighbors shade, which only occur at certain time of day. The team stopped by the next day, moved and reinstalled the 2 panels efficiently. And now it works like a charm. My husband and I have been talking about solar for years and finally decided to bite the bullet this year. We researched a number of companies, one thru Costco, and several thru recommendations from friends, and this was one of them. They were very professional, knowledgable and not pushy at all. We went with Synergy for a couple of reasons: 1. We had to get our roof replaced and they recommended Wonderlin Roofing and were able to package a contract together which should make filing for the tax credit easier. They worked closely together so we didn't have to "manage" both companies separately. 2. They use the Panasonic panels which is what we wanted 3. Competitive pricing The roof install and then the subsequent panel install all went off seamlessly with very little disruption to us. It took longer for PG&E to approve our application and then wait for a city inspection then it did for them to put in the panels. Only minor nit is that they have an app where we could track the progress but it wasn't updated and not actually in sync to what was happening. Overall would recommend! read more

We shopped around Nov/Dec 2021 and chose Synergy Power as our solar partners by mid-Jan 2022. We installed and inspected and PTO (permission to operate) by April 2022. All this during when covid supply chain issues were happening. First off-- I hate working with contractors and installation companies in general. I'm also a nightmare customer. I ask an insane amount of questions (often so trivial and small) and nitpick everything. That said, working with Dave and Phil at Synergy Power was the most flawless, effortless, painless process I've ever experienced. Dave was our primary contact and he answered EVERY ONE of my questions. EVERY. ONE. My questions ranged from his thoughts on NEM 2.0 vs NEM 3.0 and when it's going to come. What will that mean if I go with microinverters vs. SolarEdge? "I saw on youtube that the upcoming Enphase microinverter IQ8 was better for X reason, so is it better to wait?", "I have a neighbors tree that partially blocks 1 panel, do you think the cost of getting that trimmed would make sense in the gain in power I would get from that panel?" etc. Yeah, I'm that kind of customer. Dave was very responsive. Phil and his installation team was responsive. One of the company owners (who designed our system) was very responsive. Installation was a fast and high quality. They even painted the exterior conduit lines so it wouldn't stand out. Hats off to Phil. He went above and beyond in the installation and inspection.
