This Amelia's location is beautiful. Located in the Windsor Park neighborhood of Indianapolis. Kan Kan Cinema and Brassiere and an cute Spades Park Branch Library that was built in 1912 are located within walking distance. They have nice tables out front and tables out back and an old elevator cart you can sit in and eat. They have an upstairs area also. Unfortunately, they were sold out of all the breads and only had I think 4 types of cookies. :-( The chocolate chip cookie was ok. It was more crunchy than chewy. This is the second time this has happened. They're open until 8 pm and this was close to 6 pm. I read Nicole S.'s review and she had the same situation happen. The business owners was response was get there early. Not everyone can make it there early. Instead of saying oh sorry we're trying to keep up with the demand and have increased our production of our breads and baked goods it's get there early. Some people are at work by 8 am when they open. I've heard they're moving there bakery over closer to this location. Hopefully this fixes this issue. Literally the kindest staff ever. Their coffee drinks are delish, as are their house made breads and pastries. This is my favorite place to stop for a lunch. You are sure to find a great place to get some work done - bar, table, front patio, or backyard. But... make sure your laptop is fully charged! There is only one outlet inside and only one outlet on the front deck. The only bummer. The food and coffee are of course incredible. Your caffeine and pastry will taste so good, you'll happily blast through whatever tasks you have at hand. This location of Amelia's is so bright and inviting. I think I prefer this location! Parking is easy, the window display case is beautiful too. Although they sold out of my favorite chili crisp, I drove ten minutes to their original location and they had plenty. They even checked the inventory for me before driving over! The employees were super friendly here. Now onto the yummy treats I enjoyed... 5 stars - Focaccia. Okay, it's been a week since my visit and I still think about that focaccia. Especially after dinner when I've already eaten a full meal, yet I want a treat before turning in. I know, it's that good. Who cares about chocolate and ice cream when there's Amelia's focaccia! It's light and has a good slight chew like every good focaccia should have. They've got dots of melted parmesan on top and the taste of extra virgin olive oil. Oh and Italian seasonings sprinkled on. This is at THE top of my favorites list. 5 stars - Chili crisp. You saw me mention it earlier in my post. You might have even seen it in my Yelp review for the original Amelia's location. It's because nowadays a bowl of steamed jasmine rice seems empty without a drizzle of this chili crisp. It's got ginger and garlic bits and warming spices. You don't need much to get a kick of heat from it. I like it mostly for the flavor. I buy two whenever I go and I transfer it to a jar in my fridge. I've put it in pasta and sliced bread before too. So many options! 5 stars - Oatmeal cookie. This has no raisins which is nice. The flavor is great, the edges are crispy and the inside is chewy. 4 stars - Cinnamon roll croissant. This was something new I tried. Hmmm, two good flavors in one pastry!? The flavor was spot on. It was as described. However a bit too decadent for me. There was a lot of butter in this one, which might be your thing! I can't wait for the summer when I can take my treats outside on their front or back patio and enjoy their treats in the sunshine. I am not sure how long Amelia's have been at this location, but happy to visit after a meeting at the Kan-Kan Cinema next door. The place is quaint and bright with some general seating on the inside. It looks like the patio is the star of this location, with plenty of space and ample seating when the weather is good. While I am familiar with Amelia's bread, I was pleasantly surprised with the selection of croissants and cookies. You can also order coffee and other beverages, and there are some pantry items for purchase. I was not aware of these offerings so the visit was a nice find. Amelia's is worth a visit if you happen to be in the Windsor Park neighborhood. You can order something to go or stay and enjoy the surroundings. When I visited, there were four different cookies to choose from, one brownie, a couple of biscuits and a couple of croissants. Not a lot of variety in the baked good case, but that was most likely my bad for visiting at 4 p.m. on a weekday. I'm thinking if you want more choices, you should hit up Amelia's in the morning. The chocolate chip cookie I chose was super tasty. It had flecks of sea salt sprinkled on it, and it was huge. It was more crisp and crunchy than soft and chewy, and I couldn't tell if it was because it was supposed to be crunchy, or because it was a late-in-the-day cookie. I'll have to come back and get an early morning cookie and compare! Regardless, I ate the whole thing (because it's a chocolate chip cookie). Amelia's shares a parking lot with Kan-Kan Cinema & Brasserie, so it's a great place to visit before or after watching a movie. My family stopped here (the Windsor park location) as a pit stop on a road trip (going slightly out of our way to visit). Our drinks and pastries were yummy! And even though it was cold outside, we enjoyed the back patio space. My only disappointment was how unfriendly the staff was. When I asked a question about a pastry, one employee barely looked at me when answering and acted annoyed with me for even asking. I had a similar experience when I asked if it was ok to fill up my water bottle from a pitcher of water. Bummer that such a lovely space would have unfriendly and barely helpful staff! Likely would not consider going out of our way to visit here again :( read more

Amelia is my favorite spot to grab a pastry and a coffee in the Indy area. They have incredible pastries that aren't just your average croissants but instead they rotate seasonal ingredients and there is always something new to try! Their coffee is fantastic from their expresso to their local roaster Tinker. Amelia's bread assortment is glorious, not to mention the focaccia bread is beyond amazing. A second location for one of Indy's top bakeries?! I'm 1000% on board. Everything that the Amelia's team makes is delicious. I usually pick up croissants or fresh bread, but they were also named "best chocolate chip cookie in Indiana" according to Yelp data. The people have spoken! We stopped in this new location over the weekend and got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and a cinnamon roll croissant Both were delicious. We also loved that they have a mini grocery, selling some local cheeses, meats, chips, sauces, teas, snacks, and more. I had to pick up some Aahaa Chai tea leaves, as I'd been running low. The space is bright, open, and very welcoming. The team behind the counter was smiling and working quickly. The glass case of baked goods made everything look delicious. We also loved that there was an outdoor patio with seating at both the front and the back. Although it's December, it was sunny, so people were bundled and seated all over the outside. They also have a few bar seats inside. The bakeshop is located in between the new Kan Kan Cinema and Brasserie, and the Stomping Ground gift shop. I've stopped by this location two times, and really love how close it is to downtown and the convenience of parking. The exterior and interior are very charming and there is a nice patio out front with seating. They have various bread selections which they can also slice for you. I noticed the menu had a special bread offering for each day of the week. They have a few pastries and baked goods in the case, I've tried cookies and the brownie. The cookies are crunchy on the outside and have a chewy texture rather than soft. Amelia's also serves coffee, and has the basics. They had a few seasonal/specialty drinks listed on the counter. My first time visiting the staff was not very friendly or welcoming which was disappointing. The second time I visited was more pleasant as the individual at the counter who took my payment and order was friendly, however the individual making my coffee was not. read more

I'd been wanting to check out this new location of Amelia's Bread, originally a Fountain Square icon that has now expanded into this residential setting in a former house that sits between Kan-Kan Cinema and Brasserie and Stomping Ground. This is a fun little corner these days as this area starts to grow just a wee bit. Directly across from Spades Park, the neighborhood is officially known as Windsor Park. There's lots of greenery to be found in this area and I really like how they've added these businesses without negatively impacting the neighborhood's charm. Amelia's is a bakery, in case that wasn't obvious, and it offers street parking and also shares a parking lot with Kan-Kan. They don't have accessible spots that directly face their location, though I used Kan-Kan's without any difficulty. The Fletcher Place location (I choose to believe Fletcher Place is named after Britt S and David M's new son Fletcher despite this illogical conclusion) is the original spot and has far more extensive offerings. This location, however, actually has better seating options including limited indoor and also outdoor seating on a surprisingly nice patio. They also have a REALLY nice wheelchair ramp that leads up to their single-sided doorway (that is a little tricky). I knew my visit would be great when a young man was sitting there holding the door for me (and by young man I mean an actual child who was a customer) as I wheeled up the ramp. As you enter, you see some products in a center shelving area along with a display case where they serve up baked goods, breads, and have a wide variety of coffee offerings. I really wanted to spoil myself, but I was actually there to get some stuff for my office holiday gathering tomorrow. I ended up with about a half dozen cookies (gingerbread molasses, chocolate chip) at $3 each. The employee working the counter was super friendly and helpful. I looked around a bit before saying anything - you could tell she was deciding the right time to be helpful without being intrusive. She was delightful. I finally purchased my cookies. They boxed them up - a nice option that works grandly since they are going to a party. I appreciated that touch. This is relatively close to my house and there's no doubt I'll return since there's also a really awesome movie theatre right here. I will note in terms of accessibility that the parking lot is actually at a bit of a slant. It's a little weird but I didn't have much difficulty with it. This is a simple, charming bakery and well known as one of Indy's best. This is a great new location and a nice place to linger with coffee and a pastry. If you want more extensive grocery type items then the Fletcher Place location is still probably your best bet. Please do note that the online ordering tab on their website is only good at the Fletcher Place spot. I look forward to returning in the near future! read more

So incredibly excited to have the second Amelia's location walking distance from our home. Albeit, very dangerous to have both Leviathan (another lovely bakery) and Amelia's at arm's reach. I especially love that they chose Windsor Park for their location and the expansive outdoor patio. Once we're back to indoor dining, I can't wait to grab a coffee and have meetings/work on their wooden high top bar overlooking the patio. At this location, you'll find several of the things you love at their original spot in Fletcher Place like local pantry staples (think Tulip Tree cheese and artisanal sea salts), creative daily breakfast Sammies, and a wide assortment of breads, pastries and cookies. They've also added a broader coffee menu here featuring espresso drinks. A few of my favorites include the buckwheat chocolate cookie (gluten free), the kouigan aman and rotating specials that play into the seasons and fun ingredient combinations. What a fantastic addition to Winsor Park. This is a spot I have been wanting to go to but never made the time. Thanks to YELP INDY, I had an excuse to go! When you walk up it just makes you feel like you are at home. Not at a stuffy place but a place where you belong. It is located in what looks to be a big house so it seems like as you are stepping on the porch you are going to visit grandma! When you walk in it smells amazing and it just FEELS good, I don't know how else to describe it but it just literally feels good when you enter. The display case is great you can see everything and everything looked amazing. I just ordered a cookie but there was so much to choose from. So happy my friend took me to Amelia's. I don't really go to this area but now that I know Amelia's I'll probably be there more often. They have their parking lot right next to the building which is great, there are seats inside and outside and perfect. Inside the smell of the fresh bread made me excited. I love that they not only have pastries but also loaves of bread for sale. Drinks are reasonably priced and I loved my latte and pastry. The drink was ready in a few minutes which is also fabulous. As soon as I heard this location was opening I couldn't wait to try it! I popped in on a weeknight and was pleasantly surprised to find I had the place nearly to myself. I brought my two kiddos in and let them each pick out a special treat. And, of course I selected a special treat for myself as well. And another treatment for myself for tomorrow. :) My four-year-old thoroughly enjoyed a buckwheat dark chocolate cookie size of his head. My favorite part of the cookie was the sea salt flakes on top. My seven-year-old selected a buttered croissant the size of his head up. It was exactly as delightful as you would imagine... Because it was in Amelia's croissant. I selected a lox sandwich from the cooler (pictured) and saved it for dinner. I must admit that a premade sandwich with lox, homemade pickles and greens felt like a bit of a risky choice as opposed to one made to order, but it was absolutely delicious! The semolina bread in the sandwich must have been just dry enough to keep the whole thing from getting soggy. 10/10 would order again! For the next day we ordered a few everything bagels and a small tub of spicy olive cream cheese. Another excellent choice! Parking was a breeze, there's plenty of outdoor seating if the weather cooperates, the ambience was as peaceful and delightful and clean and fresh as you could imagine. I do wish there were a few more ready to eat items available Beyond baked goods coffee beverages and bottled juices. Perhaps some cubed cheeses or small charcuterie plates in the grab & go area. We got here around noon and that was way too late! Sold out of everything except some loafs of bread. It did look like more was coming in from the Virginia Ave location. Same hours as the original, 8-8. We got a couple lattes to go, perused their grocery section, and took a walk around the neighborhood. Currently they offer oat milk and vanilla for options. Came here for a chocolate chip cookie cause I heard they have the best chocolate chip cookies in the state. I was definitely not disappointed. The cookie itself was decadent and had the right amount of sweet and saltiness. Only complaint I have is that I came here in the evening and they do not have a way to rewarm the cookie. Regardless, the space itself is extremely cute and I love that the prices are so reasonable! Amelia's knows how to laminate better than an elementary school teacher.... The layers of butter in these croissants. The best in the city. My wife and I can't share the cinnamon roll croissants. It would be too much on our marriage if we did. Also the bread is amazing. Pick up the half loaf option if you won't go through a whole loaf at a decent pace. The pastries, sweet and savory, were extraordinary! And the coffee was amazing! I was amazed to find something this delicious with novel flavors just outside of downtown Indy. The plum and bay leaf pastry, apple caramel pastry, braised kale pastry and ham muffin were all to die for. And they clearly make their own syrups because the French toast latte and pumpkin spice lattes were both delicious with unique flavor notes. The servers were welcoming, efficient and made great suggestions. And the ambiance was warm and bustling without being overwhelming. Perhaps unfairly, coming from Houston (who has the best food), I did not expect to have my socks knocked off by a bakery in Indy. A must stop. read more

I love the Hot and New Around Indy events since they introduce me to locations I've never visited. I had no idea these four businesses in the Windsor Park neighborhood was even here. I was concerned with the walking distance between the businesses but once again, events are always well planned and convenient. This event was no different with the businesses next door to each other. Four businesses were involved with this event; Amelia's - a bakery, Kan-Kan Cinema, Solace Skateshop and Stomping Ground - a flower and gift shop. When we arrived we found ample parking between Kan-Kan's and Amelia's. We started at Amelia's located in a comfortable house with indoor seating, a couple outdoor tables in the back and a beautiful outdoor deck with a pergola in the front. The staff gave us a warm welcome and asked for ID's and driver license to check names off of the event list. It was 5:00 p.m. so I wasn't expecting a full bakery case but I did find a few items left. The 2 women behind the counter worked as a team and one packed the complimentary, delicious Chocolate Chunk Cookie while the other packaged 2 Cocoa Brownies and 2 Chocolate Crossiants. The Cocoa Brownies appeared to be super soft and gooey in the case but instead had a firm texture throughout, crispy edges and softer middle. It was tasty and I'd order again. The Chocolate Crossiants were phenomenal, buttery and flaky with the delicious chocolate located on the outside edges of the crossiant. I will definitely return for this sinful delicacy. Next, we walked approximately 50 feet to Kan-Kan Cinema. The automated doors were appreciated and we walked directly into the attractive Cinema lobby. No one was stationed at the concession stand so I walked back to the busy curved bar and restaurant area. Seating consisted of several booths and 4-top tables with an abundance of natural lighting from the wall of windows. A gentleman soon arrived who was familiar with the Yelp Event. He, too, took our name and license then gave us a complementary Bogo Cinema ticket plus offered us a bag of popcorn. He was friendly and answered several questions about the Cinema. I'm looking forward to seeing a movie here soon. Next, we walked next door to Solace Skateboard Shoppe in the green house. The shop was small with walls full of fun, painted skateboards. The friendly owner was helpful and informative but understood when I mentioned the obvious that I was too old to use a Skateboard. I wish I had a reason to purchase one as I found several designs I liked. I left my discount coupon since I knew I wouldn't be using but I did receive a red Yelp water bottle that I'll use. The last stop was Stomping Ground located in the bright blue house. The smooth, brick ramp made accessibility effortless. The porch had colorful hanging baskets and flats of pansies ready for purchase. We received a warm and enthusiastic welcome into a bright, cozy and colorful shoppe. We found beautiful bouquets ready for purchase as well as a diverse selection of cacti and other plants. The other half of the shoppe is filled with wonderful items such as jewelry, candles, incense, plant books, gardening tools, veggie and flower seeds, potting mix, t-shirts and even infant and toddler clothing. I purchased one of the beautiful bouquets to enjoy at home and chose a complimentary flowering catcus. I would of purchased more but the plants require natural lighting which my home is drastically short of. This little cute cafe is really great. From their breads to their cafe to their little store Amelia's is quite a nice little gem in Indy. My friends and I came here for the first time as they told me that they heard that Amelia's had some of the best pastries in the city. Now as someone who is visiting from Cali trying out new things in New places always excites me. First off I will talk about the pastries. It was very delicious, I got the canoli toast. It was one of the most unique looking pastries I've seen. And it was very good it almost had a baklava like layer of breading and the combination of the pistachio and the canoli cream just worked. I got the chai latte which was also very good. The service here was also top notch. I also love the small grocery section they have in the middle of the store. I grabbed some things that I would not be able to find or have in Cali. So yeah 5 stars Amelia's I will be back next year! read more

Tiny and quaint must run in the Amelia's business plan BUT this place is more accommodating to guests that are looking to sit down and enjoy their beverages or baked goods. Think of this location more like a cafe compared to the Fletcher Place grocery/bakery-like location. You can get baked goods here; but they offer coffees, teas, canned beverages, and gelato (soon!). The staff are always super nice and the prices are comparable to other locally owned coffee shops and cafes. After, I seen a movie at Kan Kan Cinema earlier today(Fri. March 11th) I thought I see what Amelia's all about since I've heard good things like Amelia's offers delicious baked goods.
