I really wanted to like Founders Coffe, but my expectation of the coffee I ordered vs. what I received was totally off. I will say that the space is nice for meet-ups or to get some work done. I stopped by on a Thursday afternoon and all the seats were mostly taken. Luckily, I was taking my drink to go. I waited in line about 5 minutes, which I wasn't too bothered by because I wanted to look at the menu. Just FYI, the menu board is electronic and it changes between screens often. Now for my drink, I ordered the s'mores latte, iced. The board states the drink is expresso, brown sugar cinnamon, toasted marshmallow, and chocolate sauce, topped with whip, graham crackers and marshmallows. My drink taste like bitter coffee, milk and a little mocha sauce. Also, there was no garnish whatsoever. Not sure if this was because it was iced instead of hot, but I was disappointed with what I received. read more

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. They were very busy on a Saturday morning (around 10:45am). They have a decent amount of seating for the size of the space, but it wasn't enough for the amount of people coming in with various group sizes. I snagged a bar stool at a three top. I'd planned to write for a while, and it wasn't a very comfortable seat, but I made do. And I did enjoy all the natural light. Ordered a large matcha with coconut milk. They do have oat milk and almond milk as well--plus one for having dairy free options! I don't think I was charged extra for it either. (Thank you for that!) Their drink prices overall seemed very reasonable, and more affordable than several local coffee shops I've been to recently. I appreciated that! Other non-coffee options I noticed: hot teas, iced tea, chai. The matcha was good, but I kept getting this weird chemical-y smell from my drink? At first I thought it was the lid. Took that off, but still caught the smell whenever I took a sip. I think it was coming from the cup itself, like the inside white part. So when there was a lull, I took it back up to the register and explained because I couldn't drink it. They didn't offer to remake the drink, which I found kind of odd, but they gave me an iced coffee cup and I drank the rest of my thankfully not-too-hot-anymore matcha from it. I don't know what that was about, but it was unfortunate. Ended up moving to a round table in the side room to plug my laptop in after the battery died. It wasn't as "vibey" over there, but it was quieter/easier to focus, I had access to an outlet, and noticed no strange smells on that side, though my drink was gone by then. If you're coming here to talk or hang out, I think it's a good spot! If you're coming to work, I'd recommend having a fully charged laptop, beeline to the side room, and/or watch carefully for the tables near the limited outlets to free up in the main room. Street parking was pretty easy and free. I parked maybe halfway down Main St and walked. There were signs saying 3 hr parking on weekends, so planned my stay accordingly. I'm not usually in this area, so may or may not make it back. But it's definitely a popular spot with a good sized menu. read more

Went on a breakfast date and gained the understanding they are soon moving locations . This place was only accessible via steep stairs so I'm sorry to anyone with a disability but wants coffee from a local shop! I got a medium vanilla latte & my date ordered a different hot drink but his was served in a mug with a saucer while mine was placed in a Togo cup - my date stated we were dining in. Idk maybe the cashier was giving me the option to leave quickly if needs be (if that's the case, good looking out lol) the flavor of the coffee gave off - it was sitting in one of those carafes as it was already pre-made, which isn't the case because watched it be made. I think the coffee beans/grounds they use are very weak in flavor! I did order a blt + turkey sandwich which I was unable to get a photo of because I was starving lol it was a 5/5 though. read more

Whenever I am near Speedway, Indiana, this is a must visit place! Their new space is absolutely fantastic, and the owners and employees are the same great people that have been running this business in another location for years. It's really exciting see what they've done, especially with adding beer and an expanded food menu. The whole ambiance of the place is racing related and named with a tip of the hat to the founding fathers of Indianapolis Motor Speedway , and the greatest spectacle in racing! Founders Coffee Shop is a cute spot located near the racetrack in Speedway, IN. For some reason, I just started going there this year, and I'm not sure what took me so long. This place stays packed with people working or having small meetings. It can also be a tricky place to get into if you're not paying attention; you must take a flight of stairs to visit this location. Everyone here is friendly, and I love the way they add flavors to their chai tea. Now that it's cold outside, I love drinking the white hot chocolate with toasted marshmallow. I will say, once you find someone who makes it delicious, find out how they do it, because the last time I ordered it, it was just okay. All in all, I'd give them 10/10 and will continue to support this small business because it's good. Check them out, y'all. read more

I think Founders Grounds is the one coffee shop I think about the most in the whole city. Finally made it back to this gorgeous little cafe along Main Street, Speedway and it was just like coming home with the friendliness of the staff and coziness of the space. My order: Matcha madness iced chai ($5.25): this seasonal beverage is an iced chai latte with a matcha cold foam. This is seriously tasty and I'd probably get this as my regular order if it were a year-round offer. It's just the right amount of chai spice and a hint of sweet. Cookie break cold brew ($5.25): this coffee drink is definitely sweeter but still delicious without being too cloying. You even get little cookie pieces on top! Bacon, egg, and cheese bagel (forgot price): a classic sandwich, done just right and pressed panini-style. I forgot that the menus are on a TV screen and can change quickly, so I recommend taking pictures of the menu if you take a while to decide on something to order like me! read more

Fantastic upstairs espresso crown to the Speedway area, I was half hampered in judgement by my lack of caffeine which pushed me right into ordering a flight before asking on size. After getting the twenty dollar cost, I realized the error of my ways but the free dessert helped forget I was about to take on a lot of coffee all myself! I settled down to the enjoyable space, noticed others already in good conversation so it must be all right vibes here. Wifi worked well. My blueberry lemon scone was too easy too eat. Then it happened. The flight landed on my table hardly fitting! Crazy sugar high! Only to be topped by the java juice rush, I realized my picks of Ice ice baby, summer lovin, checkered flag, and cinnabee were exactly what the bad doctor prescribed for Midwest humidity. No wonder this place has race reviews, the lattes all balanced, smooth, and rich. I forced myself to slow down to time my short hour break before a performance. I have been going there for all 4 years they have been open. They have a wide variety of coffees and drinks. They have seasonal selections that change with the seasons obviously but they work hard to come up with new drinks as the seasons change and not the same 3 or 4 "Specials" They bake most of their own pastries. There a good number of electrical outlets for those who want to bring their laptops,etc. Very friendly staff. Come in, get your drink, sit down and stay awhile. Great patio out back. It is up one flight of stairs but there are tables downstairs outside. read more

I had a wonderful visit to Founders Grounds with a friend this morning! It was bustling on a Saturday morning and you could tell that a lot of people were "regulars" which is always a good sign! Their menu is expansive with lots of coffees, lattes, teas and bakery options. They introduced their seasonal winter menu so I tried their iced gingerbread latte. It was great! My friend had the Christmas cookie cold brew and it was very smooth. We both had the bacon, egg and cheese panini and both loved it. Street parking was very easy to find and there was ample seating. Our drinks and food came out quickly despite the crowd. I will definitely make the drive back to Speedway for another visit. Highly recommend! read more

I was there on opening day last year and I'm so glad to see them thriving! I saw the coffee flight post on Yelp Indy's Instagram this week and was glad to see them get the spotlight. You could walk to the IMS from here. It's right on Main Street in Speedway. During the races you can find them also. They have a shop close to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. They've added a nice deck area. The coffee shop is located upstairs and the deck is out back. The owners I met when they had a tasting at Fundae's a few months before they opened. You could try the coffee and it was great. The star of the place for me is not only the coffee, but the paninis! The breakfast paninis have scrambled eggs, cheese, your choice of bacon, ham, or sausage and is pressed in a panini maker. But, it has a great garlic taste to the toast. They have a honey buffalo chicken panini that I will have to try! They have soups, sandwiches, baked items, also. They offer catering and you also can order online, call ahead, or use take out. read more

Delicious! We came for the coffee flight and it did not disappoint! The business has 2 entrances. One with beautiful stenciled stairs or the back side with a ramp up to the patio. It's on the second floor with lot and street parking options. Upon entering we were greeted by the team of 3 and they had a list of their fall flavors which can be made either iced or hot. We ordered a flight of 4 not knowing they were full sized drinks! (48 oz total) we got the pumpkin cheesecake, apple orchard, s'mores, and pumpkin latte. The pumpkin cheesecake was my favorite but all were delicious! We also got a French toast muffin (pastry item comes with flight purchase). My sister and I split and were there almost 2 hours talking and catching up. There are seats both inside and outside if the weather is nice. There's a tv and electric fire place inside and a couple were on their laptops so a great option to work remotely. Can't wait to check out their winter holiday flight options! read more

I got the loaded (which have bacon AND sausage eggs and cheese on them) and the regular one. The loaded ones were a lot of food but absolutely delicious. I liked them both! This is a good place to just chill. They have a rooftop patio (it's really cool!), which is a nice place to sit when the weather is pleasant. They also have lots of indoor seating, and a faux fireplace and TVs on the wall showing sports and other things. I visited because I needed a place to get some coffee and breakfast after a doctor's appointment. I got the breakfast panini with bacon. I want to say that the breakfast panini is the only breakfast item on their menu? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But that was fine with me because all I wanted was egg and cheese and meat and bread. The breakfast panini was satisfying, but I feel like it's my job to mention that the bread had a bit of a garlic taste to it. I liked it, but it's good to let others know in case others don't like garlic as much as I do. (Vampires?) I also got an Americano, and it was divine. You know how sometimes coffee will get more bitter as it gets cooler? This wasn't the case with this coffee, and it tasted smooth from hot to tepid. Founders is definitely my favorite coffee shop, hands down. The drinks are well made and delicious. The staff is always friendly, patient and helpful. It's clean. There's a lot of seating. There's a lot of parking. I'm not sure if it's handicap accessible though because it's upstairs. So that's the one con if there isn't. It isn't overly cold in the winter or hot in the summer. The food and pastries are tasty. They have a great rewards system. I can't say enough good things about this place. read more

This is the best cup of coffee I've had in a long while! I drink ice coffee even when it's cold but since it was raining all the live long day I opted for a basic coffee with cream. It was bold and strong yet oh so smooth. This is located on Main Street in Speedway and is on the second story. There's not much of a vibe in the space but I LOVE how they support other local businesses selling a variety of items. I got the cutest pair of earrings for St. Patrick's Day! They also had a little electric fireplace running which was needed today! I needed to get some work done and I was surprised by how loud the music was. Once some other customers cleared out, I asked if they would mind turning it down a bit and they were so kind with my extra ask. Before I knew it they were starting to clean and I had no idea they were closing because they never asked me to leave or were annoyed I needed to pop on a call with my boss. Obvi I rushed out of there but ugh they were just so sweet and told me I could stay as long as I needed. Love them! While making a trip home for a wedding, I caught up with a friend at this little coffee shop in a stop-fairly new updated area near the Indy 500 track. We were not disappointed. The sign is easy to spot shopping the road, but just make sure you choose the correct door or you'll not at a bbq joint, which smelled amazing. I evidently tried to open the wrong door so I went around back and wound up in the kitchen. The staff member that greeted me was super cool about it and was sweet enough to tell me I could come in at either entrance. They have an extensive menu so I just told them what I liked and asked for their recommendation. They told me I should go to the Checkered Flag. I loved the reference to the track. For us nondairy folks, they have almond and oat milk and I opted for almond. It was just what I needed! We spent two hours there and had a lovely visit near the fireplace. We never felt any pressure to move on and the rest of the clientele seemed to enjoy their experience as well. I would definitely recommend them to others. read more

This is my absolute favorite place to get coffee in the morning! I love their Lotus energy drinks as well, all of them are always amazing. Always get my drinks fast and the staff are super sweet! Meeting a friend in Speedway she directed us to this local spot for coffee. You head a narrow flight of stairs to a small yet cozy area with a counter for ordering. They have various coffee and tea options as well as some food selections and snacks. I got a small latte with alternative milk and it had a good flavor and plenty of froth. (Im kind of a snob about the froth.) The space has a ton of items for sale either related to Speedway, Indy 500 or track type things so it was fun to browse while we waited for our beverages. They have a newly opened outside patio area with tables and umbrellas. We chose to sit outside and even though there is t much of a view it was nice as they had made a lot of effort to make it comfy with plants and other decor.
