    Tres leches

When I want a unique variety choices for Mexican desserts, I go here. Especially after picking up tacos from wichos next door. They have flan, chocolate flan, rice pudding, tres leches etc. the people are very nice and it's actually a bakery so that is their specialty with a plethora of items to choose from. I got the chocolate tres leches and tres leches and I couldn't decide which I enjoyed more so ate both.

I had seen some friends had reviewed this place and since I know my wife really likes crispy Mexican pastries, I persuaded her to ride with me to try it out. She headed on in while I was still in the parking lot. She grabbed the standard tongs and metal tray (standard for a Panaderia anyway) and was soon hunting the shelves for her favorites. Most are behind sliding glass doors, but some were still sitting on racks waiting to be added. Check out had a slight delay, but was minimal. They have a wide variety of pastries to choose from including some I was not familiar with. They also sell hot coffee, beverages, snacks, and do have whole cakes as well. As far as quality, the flavors were really good. Maybe because it was late morning, the texture was a bit chewy. The crispy ones were still flaky, but there was a definite bite required to get through them like they had been sitting out a bit. I also ordered one with jelly and the jelly that was visible on the outside was the only jelly the pastry had. It may be standard, I don't know. But it was disappointing. Overall, good flavors just not quite as good as the one about ten blocks away. Review #3116

    Here for the mini conchas

I'm so surprised El Globo has such few reviews as I find it one of the best pan places on the westside. And you can fight me on that! Immediately upon entering the aroma of ~baking~ engulfs the spacious corner bakery, nothing overbearingly sweet just the smell of fresh bolillos and a hot oven hard at work. Everything is well arranged with a couple of refrigerated cases storing cakes, flans, and lots of beverages including my favorite, Boing juices. They were getting ready to stock the cases and I deviously went ahead and stole some fresh pan from the racks for home, sans regrets. I'm currently obsessed with their miniature conchas, I find them so irresistible. Any color, any flavor, grab a couple of trayfuls, just in case. Their prices are unbelievably reasonable, I paid under $8 for a few churros, conchas, and bolillos. Their tres leches custom cakes are pretty delicious too, and I'm a picky judge. We've had them custom made for birthdays and they really deliver great quality and wonderful prices. There's so much to love at El Globo, I sure hope more people will discover why this is a fan and family favorite for sure!

Love that we weren't the only ones going late at night for some sweets. The place was packed at 8:30pm. Fully stocked with lots of pan dulce.

ChocoFlan - Full $25.00 or slice of Flan $2.50.

El Globo Bakery has been open for months and doing well. Always customers from early morning till close. This is a Mexican Bakery with very little English spoken but enough to get you in and out. Large or special orders can be placed at the counter. After you enter walk to the cashier counter, grab a metal tray and tongs, then select from the large selection of breads, pastries, desserts and cookies. Most everything is oversized and it's hard to make a decision. I usually just shop with eyes only and try several things. The raisin pastry, Coco Flan, doughnuts and regular flan is delicious. Coffee is also selfserve at $1.00 a cup. Nothing fancy or a Coffee House but a decent cup of coffee. Great to see a business holding their own providing a service the neighborhood supports.

It's been about a year or so since Borage first opened and I finally got around to trying it out…read more First off, I love the vibes in here. It's giving cute, cozy, sunny brunch vibes. My boyfriend and I came on Mother's day (unintentionally) and we waited about 10-15 minutes to sit at the bar. Getting our orders taken & our food served definitely took a bit of time, but we enjoyed seeing all the cooks in action and getting to smell all the amazing smells!! I got Grandpa's one pan skillet and my boyfriend got the sausage breakfast sandwich on croissant bread. All I gotta say is those chefs definitely knew what they were doing! The flavors were unique and intentional and I enjoyed every bite. The home fries (potatoes) were also so yummy and everything was cooked really well. There's nothing basic about borage and I love that! This place is a gem. They also have a cafe/market area where you can order drinks and pastries. I wish we waited until we got seated to order drinks because the menu was much more extensive than what I saw in the cafe and I would have ordered a different drink had I seen all the other options. The staff here are also very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our little brunch and will be back with family next time!

There aren't enough adjectives to say that fully express how much I appreciate Founders Coffee/Speedway Garage! Getting to work remote from here throughout the week has also been an amazing option that I very much love having. Everything is very much appreciated!

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. They were very busy on a Saturday morning (around 10:45am)…read more They have a decent amount of seating for the size of the space, but it wasn't enough for the amount of people coming in with various group sizes. I snagged a bar stool at a three top. I'd planned to write for a while, and it wasn't a very comfortable seat, but I made do. And I did enjoy all the natural light. Ordered a large matcha with coconut milk. They do have oat milk and almond milk as well--plus one for having dairy free options! I don't think I was charged extra for it either. (Thank you for that!) Their drink prices overall seemed very reasonable, and more affordable than several local coffee shops I've been to recently. I appreciated that! Other non-coffee options I noticed: hot teas, iced tea, chai. The matcha was good, but I kept getting this weird chemical-y smell from my drink? At first I thought it was the lid. Took that off, but still caught the smell whenever I took a sip. I think it was coming from the cup itself, like the inside white part. So when there was a lull, I took it back up to the register and explained because I couldn't drink it. They didn't offer to remake the drink, which I found kind of odd, but they gave me an iced coffee cup and I drank the rest of my thankfully not-too-hot-anymore matcha from it. I don't know what that was about, but it was unfortunate. Ended up moving to a round table in the side room to plug my laptop in after the battery died. It wasn't as "vibey" over there, but it was quieter/easier to focus, I had access to an outlet, and noticed no strange smells on that side, though my drink was gone by then. If you're coming here to talk or hang out, I think it's a good spot! If you're coming to work, I'd recommend having a fully charged laptop, beeline to the side room, and/or watch carefully for the tables near the limited outlets to free up in the main room. Street parking was pretty easy and free. I parked maybe halfway down Main St and walked. There were signs saying 3 hr parking on weekends, so planned my stay accordingly. I'm not usually in this area, so may or may not make it back. But it's definitely a popular spot with a good sized menu.
