Since November I've had 3 cakes made by Brenda and I absolutely love every cake she's made! They're beautiful, they taste delicious and stay soft for awhile; unlike others I've have before. I've sent Brenda a picture of a cake I wanted and she's made it EXACTLY how it was in the photo. I've given her an idea of how I wanted a cake and she created it how I pictured, she's just naturally gifted. Brenda's also very punctual, she let's you know how everything works off bat. How payment is taken, what forms of payment she takes (credit and/ or card), when you need to be at the shop to pick up the cake and so on. I ordered a cake for a colleague's going away party as it was her favorite. I placed an order from their website, sent in a description and pictures of what we wanted on the cake and it turned out pretty as well as delicious! The communication was quick and friendly within a couple of days of responses. We did a half sheet, half white and half chocolate, it was very tasty and had the perfect amount of sweet. Pickup was quick, although it being right on Rockville Rd with heavy traffic it was a bit tricky but made it out okay from the parking lot as it is a tiny lot. Brenda's Cakes is a small locally owned bakery on Rockville Road next door to Jay Orner's Billiards Store. I chose Brenda's for my wedding cake a few years again after countless people kept mentioning her name when weddings came up. Her cakes are delicious and several people at our wedding asked for the bakery name. Many noted her cakes are comparable to Classic Cakes in Carmel. Since then several friends have used Brenda's and all were incredibly pleased. Her prices are reasonable, the cakes are beautiful, she delivers and most important is prompt. She also offers cakes and cupcakes for any occasion. Beginning this week, they are making Edible Fruit Arrangements. I can't wait to try these. As with any bakery, I recommend taking photos of designs you love, which I did, and she duplicated the design perfectly. I've posted a few of the displays currently in her shop today. I got my son's first birthday cake done here and I was very impressed. I walked in about 3 weeks prior to needing the cake and briefly gave the woman at the counter a description of what I wanted. She wrote some stuff down but no sketches or anything. I walked out feeling a little hesitant as to whether or not she understood exactly what I wanted in the cake. When I came back to pick up the cake the day of the party it could not have been more perfect. From the shade of blue to the crown placed on top(it was a prince party) everything was perfect. I was so pleasantly surprised at how good the cake tasted. It was incredibly moist and flavorful. That is hard to find these days, it seems to me the better the cake usually looks the worse it tastes. I will definitely come back to Brenda's. The reason I gave it four stars is that it was a bit on the pricey side. I paid $70 for a six inch cake. read more

I've gone to Brenda's Cakes for 3 orders. Two have been for my daughter's past two birthdays. The most recent, for my girlfriend's and her best friend's birthday. The cakes have always been delicious and absolutely beautiful. The latest occasion was a short-notice-planning kinda deal, and they were able to construct a wonderful 2-tier decorated cake that was loved by all. The prices very reasonable for such quality. The 2-tier fondant decorated cake - which is much heavier than one might imagine - survived the driving around to its destination without moving a bit. The people there always seem super busy - which is good for them! - and are helpful and nice as hell. They always ask the right amount and types of questions to make sure you get what you expect/hope for, which has also helped me consider ideas and options I'd not thought of! I am a huge fan of cake and Brenda's makes the best decorated cake. While decorated cakes are usually beautiful, I can taste the nasty fondant. This is not the case with Brenda's cakes. I've ordered from them before no issues and they had everything ready on time for me... Fast forward to today and I make one last minute phone call before pick up on Saturday. I had ordered two themed cakes for my mom's 80th birthday and was told today that they could make one but they could make the other because they're short staffed and it was too involved and I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with this if it was not one week before the party I told them that this was not acceptable that I have been in constant contact with them and for them to tell me that at this time was not acceptable so she said to hang on she was gonna look at my emails so she gets back on the phone and she says yeah they can make the cake but it'll be $475... Now it's the prerogative to charge what they want but I think and I really do believe this that they jacked up the price so high that I would not have it made which I didn't because I'm totally pissed off at this point. I needed food for my youngest daughter's wedding & reception and the meal needed to be "milk free". Brenda was the ONLY caterer I spoke with who was willing to accommodate my needs! I've been able to cook milk-free for my daughter for 23 years, why can't anyone else? Brenda did! We had baked chicken, two kinds of potatoes, asparagus, salad, bread, appetizers. This was our third family wedding and, by far, the cake was the BEST TASTING as well as the PRETTIEST we've purchased. We didn't ask her to make the cake milk-free because it is hard to duplicate butter cream icing -- and the guests raved about the taste. Instead of dry, thick layers, hers are moist & thin with layer upon layer of flavored icings. Within our group of family and friends, we've become well acquainted with "wedding food & wedding cake" (all our kids are getting married) and everyone said it was the best they've had. I previously ordered a cake from Brenda's Cakes and was happy with the outcome. When it came time to order another cake, I eagerly set it up with them as well. We met and I chose a cake from their book. The cake looked very sloppy. It was missing details and had cracks, crumbs & flour on it. When we expressed our displeasure with the cake, Brenda herself responded. Keep in mind that I do not complain about things often. She was defensive and argued. She showed no empathy and offered no solution. We asked if there were anything she could do. She after a while rudely said she would give us $25.00 for our messed up over $300.00 cake.
