It was a cold January night, the streets were bare and the hunger was consuming me. My girlfriend and I were looking for a good Italian restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. After looking at a couple reviews we decided to give this place a shot and let me say we were NOT disappointed, Amedeo's was a well rounded experience. The entire staff was fantastic, they took great care of us, made some jokes with us, very attentive. The food tasted like my own great grandmother made it and I couldn't be more satisfied. Not good at all. The food did not appear to be resh nor did it taste fresh. Its sitting in the back seat of my SUV when it's been since yesterday. You could taste the old oil that the chicken was fried in, and the gravy had a sour taste to it. Would never return far too many other places in RI. This place has great food in a small and comfortable dinning room. We got here early about 5:30 I was surprised we were the the only people sitting at a table to eat, with two people at the bar, so I was a bit nervous. Well Joe alleviated my concern he was polite, yet funny and attentive to our need for more time to look at the menu due to our chatting. The drinks chocolate martini and ameretto sour where spot on in taste and presentation. The three in our party all got the Chicken Francaise which was the size of the dinner plate and the Francaise sauce was fantastic. This was definitely a wonderful surprise and much better then the nearby old standby. By the time we left all the tables and bar seats were full. Obviously, lots of people realize how great this place is. I will be back with my boys and husband they will love it as did I. read more

Pretty Good - Service Issues Nice small goomba kind of place. Very Cranston Italian's running this place and you can tell they concentrate on regulars. The food is very good, straightforward Italian fare. We have shrimp bruschetta and a couple of sandwiches. Great bread and quality ingredients. The only issue here is service, it's a by slow because the staff seems to get stuck talking to friends that come in. It took 15 minutes for us to get our check processed. We also ordered fries parmigiana, and holy smokes, watch out for those--- they are unbelievable tasty. We couldn't help but order dinner!! I had the chicken Marsala and my husband had shrimp ravioli with pink vodka sauce. We couldn't complain about a single thing if we tried. I cannot forget to give a nod to the attentive and courteous service. Our waiter was exceeding expectations as it was, and the owner personally checked on tables multiple times, our table included. Had an early dinner there last night. My husband and I arrived around 5:30, there were only a couple of people at the bar. By the time our dinner arrived it was pretty packed. I ordered the eggplant parm and my husband got the chicken parm and we had a nice bottle of valpolicella for only $28. The ambience is pretty casual. Lots of TV's in the room, the bar seats about 12 and the restaurant itself is pretty small. The food was delicious, particularly the sauce ( or gravy :). Service was excellent. So good. We went at 5:30 on a Saturday and it was empty. By the time we left, the place was packed. Our waitress was very polite and friendly. They gave us bread with garlic and oil to start - so good. We also got some salads and the Italian nachos - also excellent. They had a reasonably priced wine list and bottled macro beers. Their drink menu was also very good with unique twists on standard drinks. The bartender was very interactive and recommended several drinks. I had the gnocchi with red sauce, my husband got veal parm, my brother got pizza, the rest of my family got parm with pastas and vodka sauce, etc, etc. Every meal can be customized based on what sauce, pasta or vegetable, etc, that you'd like. The prices are very affordable. The one hiccup was that my mother ordered eggplant parm and they brought her chicken parm. They quickly made her another dish and took it off the bill without us asking which was very polite. She thought it was a little greasy but that was the only complaint. It was under $200 for 6 people with many appetizers, entrees, wine, and more. I'd go back! read more

One of my favorite places to grab a drink in Cranston. Upscale lounge type atmosphere. Nice mix of people 20-40's range. They have some different cocktail concoctions besides all the normal drinks you would expect They do Kareoke one or two nights during the week and I believe Amedeo the owner was actually on a season of American Idol. The most underrated part of the place...the food. The food is just amazing. The portions are huge and the pricing is beyond reasonable. One of my favorites and a must try are the Italian nachos. They still put tortilla chips but they use a ricotta cream type sauce with bolognese, olives, and tomatoes. They are just awesome. The pink vodka sauce is spot on and everything you would want it to be. Overall just an Awesome place. Not that big so on a Friday or Saturday can get a little cramped but beyond that you have to check it out. read more

Tried calling several times, the phone was busy. Finally got an answer but she put me on hold forever! So we left and came to Amedeo! Got greeted right away and had a table ready. Service was good. I must admit, the only reason my family and I opted to try this restaurant is because Marchetti's was packed on a Saturday night and we could not find parking. Conveniently, Amedeo is located just across the street from Marchetti's and really proved to be a pleasant surprise. I did not know what to expect or even what type of food they served. The restaurant is small but nicely decorated. You can tell it is newly renovated and possibly the owner's first restaurant. The menu was pretty small, but the prices were VERY reasonable. They serve mostly Italian fare. We ordered Calamari for an appetizer, on the menu they only had buffalo style calamari listed but our waiter (and I'm thinking he may have been the owner as well) said they would prepare it any way we wanted. We opted for the traditional Mediterranean style, with pepper rings. It was very fresh and we ate every bite. My mother and I ordered the chicken parmesan and my father ordered the veal parmesan. When the food was brought to our table I was amazed by the portion size, definitely up to par with what I would have gotten across the street, without the wait, and dare I say I liked Amedeo's marinara sauce more?! The bar tender also opted to make my father a key lime pie martini, even though it was not on the menu, and my father said it was very good. This restaurant has potential, you can tell they value the customers input, and are more than willing to make you whatever you ask for within reason. It was pretty dead for a Saturday night so I urge more people to give Amedeo a try and yelp your experience! Oh, and they also do karaoke on Wednesday nights! read more

We we're planning on a place across the street, but as usual the wait was an hour. Then I remembered Amedeo right across the street. We sat at a great table outside, no wait. We started with stuffies and calamari Alla mama both were absolutely delicious. The steak with Gorgonzola cream sauce, cooked to perfection and green beans, just incredible. the fish and chips were fantastic, not too much batter, nice and light and full of flavor. This is a very small establishment that seems to attract the locals. I really don't this this is a good place to bring your kids to. Definitely an adult dining and watering hole. Feels like a dinner dance bar. I enjoyed the music but it'll be much too explicit and loud for the kids and older folks. Drinks are good and served in large glasses Only 2 servers on for the bar service and the floor. Servers were attentive but the kitchen was not able to keep up the pace. It was a long long wait for the first appetizer to show. And it took so long after we finished our appetizer that our server was able to have his smoke break out in front of the restaurant in our plain sight. Kind of odd in out opinion. Anyway our entrees finally arrive. The penne bolognese was nice and hot with plenty of sauce but still a little too acidic and a little more cream would have made it better. The veal parmigiana in pink sauce was a hit. Probably 1 if the best veal parm for me to date. There is 2 good size pieces to the order with a side of penne with the same sauce. The veal was cooked perfectly, not dry and chewy. It was nice and tender. The wife had the chicken picatta and the chicken was pounded out evenly and cooked perfect. Next time I'll have to dine earlier so I'm not so wiped out from the long wait for my dinner. But still I think the food is better than what you'll get on the hill. I like this place. The food always come out PIPING hot. (seriously, every single time I eat there I leave with a burned tongue!) This is a place where food is made to order, so if you're an impatient one who doesn't like to wait for quality....go to Mcdonald's. It does take a while for the food (I went there around 630 and didn't get out until 830) but it is definitely worth it.The prices are just right for a resturant in that area (Knightsville is tryna get a little pricy now-here it's about 12-14 dollars for pasta). The chicken is always fresh and cuts easily, the pasta is always drenched in sauce (HOW IT SHOULD BE), and the gentlemen that work there are so nice! The owner himself is working with his staff, so you know it's a place that is serious about success. My one complaint about this place is the seating arrangement. It is hightop tables and chairs, and the place is very small. I have a very hard time balancing on those chairs, so it is a little uncomfortable, and you are very close to the next table. However, like I keep saying, it's worth it. I feel like quality food at a good price is really hard to get (I refuse to pay 20$ for pasta...screw that) and you definitely get it here. Ate here for dinner Sunday night. Two flustered men debated on where we would be seated and decided on a high top between two anticipated large parties. Our drink order was taken and given promptly but then we continued to sit for about 15 -20 minutes before our order was even taken. Meanwhile, I watched as people on the other side of the room who arrived after us were served their bread and appetizers. Also, the two guys seemed more interested in small talk with their regulars. It's nice they care about loyal patrons but you can't ignore potential future patrons. Honestly, if my boyfriend hadn't ordered booze, we would have walked out. When we finally got some service, we were read some intriguing specials and our original choices were easily swayed. Boyfriend opted for a sausage bow tie pasta and I went for the ravioli and shrimp in pink sauce. Bread was good, bruschetta was best I've had and my ravioli got tastier with each bite. Boyfriends pasta could have used more sauce. Hefty amount of food at a reasonable price. Minus the slow service and some rude patrons encroaching our table and incessantly hitting my chair, this place was good enough to give a second chance.
