I've been to this Amazon Fresh location a few times now and it's my favorite one! They have a huge parking lot and are almost never busy, which is a big plus for me. It's a big location, very clean, good deals, friendly staff - what more could a girl want!? Plus, because of the Amazon tie in, you can return items here, too which is a big plus. Sometimes when you return things, they give a coupon for your order like $2 off. It applies I love the carts! You just scan as you go, and can remove things as you see, as well. It took me a minute to get the hang of it but after my first trip, it was smooth sailing. They have staff right at the front door in case you need any help though. The only issue I have had is twice my cart didn't check out properly. I have now learned that you need to actually stop for a minute for the checkout to process. They made it seem like you walk right through at checkout, but this last trip they explained there is a camera above catching things. Apparently it doesn't always trigger, so linger in the checkout until you confirm you've paid! I bend the knee to thy great Bezos who makes my life oh~so~convenient. I'll be back.

    Yogurt? Who needs it.

After some weirdness when they first opened with cameras everywhere, this Amazon Fresh (which is very convenient in location) was a great place to get good prices on staples. They had excellent yogurt at an unbeatable price, good prices on milk, some nice bakery goods, and decent produce, if not a great breadth of selection. Alas, while the people who work there are still friendly, pro-active, and effective, the stocking has gotten worse and worse. Items I liked - say, non-organic whole beets - vanished. The overall quality of the produce is mediocre, and sometimes outright bad. And those nicely priced staples? Well, today they had NO milk (except expensive organic or lactose free), and I barely snagged the single last container of Amazon plain yogurt, though I wanted 3 or so. The package salad area was also pretty bare.

Amazing place! So many fresh choices and lots of self check out counters and a cashier. The prices are great and they literally have everything. There's also a Krispy Kreme inside that has the best donuts in the Country. I was able to drop off a return package to Amazon in addition. Clean bathrooms was a bonus as well as lots of parking.

Some grocery carts have electronic keypads to help you shop

Wow! I didn't know there was an Amazon Fresh Grocery Store in E. Pasadena! It took over the old OSH Hardware store on Colorado Blvd. Lots of parking, a handful of EV charging spaces, and Family Parking space for families with small children. There were some carts with electronic pad where the baby seat is. I guess it's to help you find items on your grocery list, there are QR codes on the ceilings so maybe it makes it easier to find items/restock? Krispy Kreme has a mini store inside & has a good selection. I went close to closing but they had 2 dedicated employees working behind the counter. I like how they have a wooden fruit stand in front of the produce section for kids to grab a free fruit to munch on while their parents shop. How clever! Amazon Fresh has really good prices on most items. Some are exactly the same as other grocery stores. But their 2 lb. container of fresh cut pineapple was only $7.99 compared to Vons that sells 1 lb container for about $9.99. They mark down produce, meat, fish, etc. that are a day or 2 before the best by date so if you're planning to cook that item that day, it's a bargain! They have a small floral section, nothing fancy. They have a Small Bouquet of flowers for $4.99 and the Large Bouquet for $9.99. With prices like these, I don't have to feel guilty for buying flowers to decorate my dining table for a nice dinner for friends. They had a Hot Food Bar, Cold Food Bar, Pizza Bar where you can serve yourself a slice or two from the 4 or 5 cooked pizzas on the counter. I bought the 16" Take &Bake Pepperoni Pizza $9.99 (thin crust). It was good but I over-baked it, so the crust was really like cardboard. My bad! The Amazon Fresh brand Chicken Noodle Soup was chock full of veggies & chicken! I usually get the Signature Brand from Vons that only has a little bits of chicken. This one was better tasting & more nutritious. I found some great snacks/lunch items like Amazon Fresh brand chocolate hummus w/pretzels to pack for lunch. They also had some good cookies! This location isn't that close to me but I'm going to make it a monthly destination to go get groceries, when I don't need to go to the big warehouse store!! I really like their vast selection & how organized everything is. I HIGHLY recommend going to Amazon Fresh store, you won't regret it! P.S. If you return your purchase from Amazon.com, they'll give you a coupon to use to buy groceries to be used that day.

Do they have a selection of organic produce and vegetables here?

    Yes

Do you charge customer for the paper bag at checkout?

No they do not. I shopped there twice already and they haven't charged me for both times that I asked, or at least not yet. I chose the 'traditional' shopping route.

Dear Pasadena Public Health Department Environmental Health Division,…read more I am writing to formally report a serious health code violation and unsanitary conditions observed at Ralphs Grocery Store, located at 160 N. Lake Ave., Pasadena, CA 91101. Incident Details * Date of Observation: Monday, July 27, 2026 * Time of Observation: Approximately 3:00 PM * Location Inside Store: Self-serve bagel and bread display cabinet Description of the Violation The self-serve bagel and bread display case was teeming with flies. Numerous insects were actively flying inside the cabinet and crawling directly all over the uncovered food products. I have captured clear video evidence documenting this infestation, which is available upon request for your investigation. Public Health Risks and Concerns This environment poses an immediate and severe health risk to consumers for several critical reasons: * Pathogen Transmission: Flies carry over 100 dangerous pathogens. They easily transfer hazardous bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, and Shigella from external waste directly onto the food surfaces. * Direct Contamination: Because flies liquefy solid food, they regurgitate digestive enzymes and defecate on the bakery items. This leaves live bacteria and viruses behind. * Ready-to-Eat Hazards: These items are sold as ready-to-eat foods. Consumers eat them without cooking or heating them first, meaning there is no kill-step to destroy the transferred pathogens. This creates a high probability of foodborne illness. * Prolonged Exposure: The enclosed nature of the display cabinet traps the flies inside, leading to a high concentration of continuous contamination on the food. This active infestation indicates a critical failure in store sanitation, inadequate pest control management, and a clear violation of California retail food safety codes. Please initiate a health inspection of this facility as soon as possible to address this hazard and protect the public. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

But the elderly can't do that so it's why the lines are so long. Now here is the kicker. At the end of the checking line is a manager ...sometimes 2. A man and a woman. They are observing the long lines...counting something...just observing. It would help if THEY just go to the end of a long line and start bagging! See, that would be cool! You see you guys have not scheduled any baggers and the lines are so long they are down the aisles .. and you are just standing there? Of course they may say, well that's not my job. But that's the mentality that keeps things moving slow. It would be so nice if people just did what it takes to keep things moving. Either hire enough people OR get in there and start bagging! I remember back in the days there was a bagger at the end of each checkout aisle. A bagger and a casher! Those days are gone ...and most stores now see if they can get away with overworking the checker! Next thing you know they install self check outs! Rather than hire people and keep a system of people working they just get rid of people and have 1 person observing (like these managers were doing). What a world we are moving towards. But anyways that's what you see. I wish they would just hire bag boys and go back to the good ol days.

This was sliced and stored in the dessert refrigerator section where all the take out foods were located. Loads of coconut flavor with toasted coconut flakes! After each bite, there is a strong coconut flavor, yet you can taste the coconut essence in it versus real coconut flavor too, which detracts from the coconut cake eating experience. Lol. The cream is not as sweet as the cake. The cake itself is denser and had a wet texture versus a fluffy cake texture. That can be a big minus for those who are looking for that fluffy cake texture. Overall it is sweet, but not super sweet. The filling was coconut milk, but it tasted like condensed milk with coconut flavor added to it. Liked the flavor of the filling. It was not as sweet as expected either. The addition of toasted coconut flakes was delish. It really made everything taste better. This cake is still sweeter than Erewhon's Carrot Cake. I haven't had the best coconut cake, so I have nothing to compare this cake to, but I think anyone craving a coconut cake may enjoy this! EREWHON CARROT CAKE Organic ingredients used. One thing that was different was they used almond meal instead of all purpose flour. So the texture is different. It is a dense cake, as expected, but also like the coconut cake it is a wet cake too. Not a cake texture. The flavor is strong! You've got brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg at the first bite. Then the textures and flavors of the carrots, walnuts, and golden raisins and then the cream cheese. Outer layers were coated with chopped walnuts so there was more crunchiness and nutty flavor with each bite! The flavor is reminded me of Fall! A very warm-flavored Fall cake! Loved this more than the coconut cake, as the coconut cake is a one dimensional flavor, but the carrot cake had layers of Fall flavors! Cream cheese was not overly sweet with a hint of cream cheese tang. For those who crave carrot cake, this would be a good alternative when you don't know where to find a decent carrot cake. I would get this again! EREWHON ORGANIC POTATO CHIPS TRUFFLE These chips were delicious! It was thin like Lay's potato chips. The chips were a bit on the smaller side and some were bunched up together in clumps. But that's even more fun to eat! Strong black truffle flavor and saltiness. Would buy again! GIADZY NODI MARINI This is a pasta brand from chef Giada DeLaurentiis. Ordered from her website before she started selling her Giadzy pasta brands at Erewhon! It is on the pricier side, but the Nodi Marini is my favorite pasta from her pasta collection! This is generally called a Vesuvio pasta, a pasta from Campania. Delicious however you cook it! You can probably find this pasta shape from other well known Italian brands as well. TUMERIC CRUSH (Orange juice, carrot juice, pineapple, mango, tumeric, ginger, lemon, beet juice, camu camu) Got this smoothie with a shot of organic coconut oil. Wanted to try this and I thought this was a good healthy option. Served in a 20oz plastic cup, this was a large-sized smoothie! The smoothie tasted like fresh ginger, orange and tumeric. But the overall flavor was of strong freshly ground ginger. Very potent! Smoothie was icy cold too! There was sweetness in it from the other fruit juices in it. I did enjoy it and will get it again. Only downside was the wait time for one smoothie took a long time to make! CUSTOMER SERVICE Every time I'm here the customer service has been great! Staff were nice and helpful. I've been coming to this Vallarta for a while, and while I really like many things about the store, the customer service at the service counter/booth has been extremely disappointing. I've gone to the counter/service booth on several occasions to cash a check or take care of other services, and the experience with the lady working there has consistently been unpleasant. She is a lady with blonde hair and always wears a mask covering. She comes across as extremely unfriendly and impatient, and it often feels like customers are bothering her simply by asking for assistance. What bothers me even more is that I've personally witnessed her speaking to other customers in a very rude and disrespectful manner while they are simply trying to get help. I've also seen her treat her own coworkers rudely when they come to the counter needing assistance. It's uncomfortable to stand in line and watch someone be spoken to that way. I understand that working with the public can be stressful, but basic courtesy and respect should still be expected when dealing with customers and coworkers. No one should feel like they are inconveniencing an employee by asking for a service that the store provides. With that said, I do want to give credit where it's deserved. Vallarta has some really good products and food. Their aguas frescas are delicious, and lately I've been getting their rotisserie chicken, which has been really good. The taqueria also serves fresh food, and I've generally had much better experiences with the employees in that department--they are friendly, helpful, and seem to genuinely care about providing good service. It's unfortunate that one person's attitude can make an otherwise good store such an unpleasant experience. I hope management takes customer service seriously, at the service booth because customers deserve to be treated with basic respect.

There are items here I can't get anywhere else, or hard to find. I love the unsweetened Yerba Mate and Jasmine White tea. Most of the time my tea is out of stock at Bristol Farms. I miss the breakfasts that were made to order here ages ago. But with Amazon buying the store brand, some prices seem lower. Always browse the clearance section. I scored some Weleda body oil for a great price !

If I could give 0 zero stars for the customer service at this store, I would! No one is around if…read moreyou need help on any of the isles, the pizza lady from today had the worst attitude and made a cheese pizza that had 5% cheese on it and half unbaked (who's hiring the pizza workers???) It went straight to the trash, and never will I buy pizza from here again. Another time, the pizza stand was completely empty and I saw numerous packaged pizza doughs that looked like they had been out and over proofing for wayy too long! It wasn't refrigerated, and when I asked what happened, they said the burner broke down. If that's the case , you need to refrigerate the dough or hire someone that cares enough to handle food properly there. The cashiers never smile, don't make eye contact, and never greet you. They all look miserable ALL THE TIME! One time a cashier filled up one of my bags with really heavy groceries then told me to put it in the cart. I tried to pick it up and almost got a hernia ,and so I told him it's too heavy and I can't pick it up, and he just ignored me. He didn't try to put it in the cart himself because even he couldn't (it was so heavy). He didn't have the common sense or decency to even try emptying some of it into another bag . He just stood there, said nothing. (I ended up doing that myself) I tried to cut some slack for these guys, and give them the benefit of the doubt, and I've never once been rude to anyone there (even when I felt I had every right) I still kept quiet. However, the consistency of the horrendous customer service skills is disgraceful and disgusting. Where are the managers? Who is on the hiring committee? Why aren't any of these people getting proper training? Where is quality control? It's sad that standards are so low at this location that you treat your long time loyal customers this bad. Truly a shame. If I was a health inspector, I'd be shutting down your pizza center first, then I'd fire every single cashier there and train proper human beings to work with human beings.
