I've been going to this location to do my groceries for over a year now every Friday. Some days people might be off so I didn't think much of poor service now and then. But today, Friday 2/13/26 @ 8:25 am, the self check out section I received the worst customer service I've experienced in that location of Ralph's. Doing my self check out and my register froze due to bag getting caught on conveyer belt, I waited to be helped and patient, but when I saw the Rep taking care of the issues in line, I asked or stated excuse me, since I was not acknowledged or attended to. Even with the light blinking on my register, this Rep was taking care of other people that had issues after my issue happened. The answer I got was "I'm taking care of people in order" no she wasn't and I got nothing but attitude even with her scanning her badge to clear my register. I will not be going to that location anymore, and as a consumer, I can go spend my money to any other grocery store. But I chose Ralph's since it's convenient but with crappy attitude and service from that lady I will not go back again. I rather drive further or out of my way to another grocery store then to be treated poorly or have bad service like I experienced. read more

By far one of the best Ralph's in the county except for the heavy set lady with the long black curly hair at the self checkouts. During my most recent visit, I accidentally selected the wrong avocado option on the self-checkout screen. Instead of politely informing me of the mistake, the attendant abruptly wedged herself between me and the register and announced, "You picked the wrong one, ," in front of everyone waiting in line. It was embarrassing and made me feel as though I had done something dishonest when it was simply an innocent mistake. Customer service is about treating people with respect, and there are far more professional ways to handle situations like this. I understand mistakes happen at self-checkout, but there was no need for the attitude or public embarrassment. In my experience, this employee is rarely friendly, never smiles, and consistently comes across as unapproachable. I enjoy shopping at this store, but I will be avoiding the self-checkout whenever she is working. read more

Came in for the ribeye steaks that were on sale. Unfortunately they were sold out completely. So I ran to the store on Atlantic.

Happy Mother's Day. This is a well stocked store and it's clean and bright. We like to shop in the late evening when there are less customers and less lines at the check out. We needed a few items and we found exactly what we were looking for and at the prices we were willing to pay. read more

I phone ordered 3 days before my pick up from the Deli dept 2 party size Cesar salads to pick up on 4-9-26. When I came the deli lady immediately said she didn't have the order but hadn't looked anywhere...then she said "let me look" She came back and said I don't have anything. I said "ok can you make them then? I'm hosting a party and ordered it." She says "do you have the paper" "no I phone ordered it". Long story short they needed the Chef to put together lettuce, croutons and dressing?? I called multiple times to put in a complaint with customer service, no answer, the manager, no answer. I've ordered it before and I like the ease of it and the container is a serving plate too. They were so rude on how they handled the situation by blaming me, no apology or solutions. I usually order online and use delivery or pickup options at Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods. However, after receiving a mailer from Ralphs, I decided to explore their sales yesterday. I didn't buy any produce or deli items--instead, I specifically went for Halo Top ice cream and Talenti Gelato during a hot weekend. They had multiple flavors in stock, especially ones that you rarely find in the area--all for a great price. I was impressed by how clean and organized the store was, as well as the variety of options available. As someone who is extremely sensitive to smells, I typically avoid grocery stores due to the mix of scents, but my experience at this Ralphs was surprisingly pleasant. I walked through the store to see all that it offered, and I'd definitely return. I'm giving this location three stars because the customer service could have been better. No one spoke to me until it was time to check out. With that, although there were staff members present and one cashier lane was open, the cashier didn't come over until I started placing my items on the conveyor belt. It seems there's an expectation for customers to use self-checkout, but I prefer not to unless it's absolutely necessary. This seems to be a trend as many others note the same issue with the self-checkout expectation. This Ralphs has the potential to be great, but improvements are needed from a customer service perspective. read more

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my groceries from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is pretty big. Some parking spots are smaller than others. Be very careful where you park. Store & Staff: The store itself is very clean, neat, organized, and tidy. The staff here are very friendly and fast. They accept both cash and credit cards. They charge higher than the tag price, not even one with Ralph cards or digital coupon. When I showed the staff, he took off the tag from the shelf and told me there is no tag showing the price I mentioned. I should take the photo or video at that moment. When I asked for return and refund, the staff pointed me to the cashiers with long line while he has his own cashier for refund, apparently discriminate me as an Asian. The just the worst customer service compared to other Ralphs I have ever seen, but also cheating consumers. I really don't like to give a one or two stars negative reviews and it is always " painful " but this store forced me to it . I was in urgent need of a few items for a recipe and this place seemed to be closer than my usual ones. Inside the store, very few people were observing any social distancing specially at the fruit and vegetables section, the weird organisation of the display not facilitating the task . What really irritated me was that there was a customer roaming without a mask (not to mention the ones with the mask on the mouth). Ralph's might just be a grocery store / supermarket to some, but it's been a life saver for me. Many occasions I'd be searching for something in the middle of the night and somehow Ralph's always came through. It might sound crazy, but one doesn't need to a resident of Pasadena to know Ralph's is clutch. Ralph's reminds me of Albertson's in so many ways: iconic yet dated with an entire community of people that are all about it. It's not much to look at but it's well stocked, spacious, clean, with plenty of parking. Not many supermarkets in general will remain open into the wee hours, but this is one that fits the bill. While there are always bound to be some duds for employees, I've generally found most people that work here to be friendly and professional. They're good about helping folks find what they need and are efficient with checking peeps out during busier hours. In addition to Trader Joe's and Seafood City, this is also one of our regular go-to supermarket... 3 stars!!! Pretty good size Ralph's which translates to pretty good and well-stocked selection of products in all departments. I love that the produce section carries some veggies for Asian cooking. Considering the demographics in the area, I would love to see the selection expanded even more. The store also carries Asian fruits, although the prices are much higher when compared to Asian supermarkets. In addition, this Ralph's has a meat department that offers a good variety of poultry, pork, and beef products, but the seafood offerings are somewhat limited. However, when Ralph's put meat products on sale, the bargains are often too good to pass up. This Ralph's also has two self check-out areas, each adjacent to each of the two entrances, so it's pretty easy to check out if you are just buying a couple of items. I still prefer to check out with a staff member, however, and the staff has always been friendly. As of November, 2020, bringing your own reusable bags is okay despite COVID, but you have to bag your own items. read more

I wanted to leave a review for the people that lay out the stuff in the salad and bread departments. It's very neat and organized. I could always find what I need when there. I could tell these people are proud of what they do. Please take care of them and keep up the great work as a whole. There's a guy there with long hair that's helpful and friendly. This market, particularly this location over other Ralphs I have been to, is super clean and very well organized. Though I dont shop at Ralphs too often just because I live much closer to its competitors, when theres good sales, I dont hesitate to come here. This Ralphs always has most of the items well stocked. Plus, its super neat and clean too! Only reason I dont come here as often as I wished to is because of the location. Traffic around the area can be hectic and I have to go around to go home in the opposite direction to other main side of South Pasadena. I know not all Ralphs have pharmacy but this location does! But no Starbucks here, haha. Its fine because theres what at least 4 Starbucks in the area off of Fair Oaks and Huntington anyway. One of the main reasons I come here is for the produce. Their produce is so so fresh and always neatly displayed. If you look around the stores, you will see a lot of good sales on random items. Its always fun to browse around! They also sell freshly made sushi if youre into that. All in all, its a nice market with friendly staff. Parking is plenty but it can get full very easily! read more

This location as well stocked, which is exactly what I needed when I visited the store. I was trying to find a Marie Callender birthday frozen cream pie, which didn't seem to be at any other location. I just so happened upon this location and there it was, the last one available. The self checkout line was very easy to maneuver, which I was in and out within five minutes. There is a private lot for this Ralph's, but the parking spaces are oddly laid out. Since the entrance is on the busy street of Atlantic Boulevard, there could be a back up of cars waiting to exit out. read more

Hello Mr Ralph! A very clean supermarket indeed. I've been coming to this one and the Monterey Park location too for most of my shopping needs. It is true, the pandemic changed my life! I've actually become a picky shopper who knows what's up now... Especially the produce and meat departments. I learned to look for deals, examine quality, check dates, etc. Yes, kinda snobby right?! Hahaha. But nah, I'm not. Just don't want to get sick. I'm happy to say this supermarket has passed with flying colors! Everything has always been fresh, neatly labeled, and most merchandise is in stock. There is also a pharmacy located at the right side of the store. Not that I needed anything, but I've recently noticed it being there because there was an announcement of extra vaccine shots for people who might be interested in receiving it instead of throwing it away at the end of the day. Overall, it's a good place to shop. Still convenient for me. The only bad thing is the location. It's located in a triangular intersection where there is a lot of traffic. Right at the cross intersection of Atlantic Blvd, Garfield Ave, and Huntington Drive. All good. cheers! read more

I stopped by this Ralph since I was staying at a hotel near the area and needed some snacks. I ended up just getting some soda and chips for my hotel room. The parking here is great because there are a lot of spaces to choose from and the store is nicely organized. I was able to find everything I was looking for since I was familiar with the Ralph layout. They also had self checkout station here which makes paying for your item more efficient. read more

I began to feel a bit of melancholy, I don't know what is happening with me as of late but, my grandmother would love to make her ambrosia whenever she was invited to my brother's house or closest friends home for lunch or poolside BBQ. My mother makes it also, so tonight I opted to scavenge my pantry for the large can of fruit cocktail, marshmallows ... umm importantly Kraft mini marshmallows! Sour cream! Lol and my grandmother's famous red CorningWare bowl. I pulled her recipe and studied it intently and carefully adhered to the letter. Strictly! Religiously!!! I actually got this right! Ever since the pandemic, Ralphs has been my trusty go-to supermarket for majority of my grocery shopping needs. I love this Ralphs location as a mid-way point whenever I make a pitstop here on my way home from work in Downtown Los Angeles. Even though I work from home work due to the pandemic, I still shop here from time to time. First and foremost, thank you to all the essential workers working there at Ralphs, friendly and helpful, wearing their face masks, gloves, and keeping both essential and non-essential items stocked as much as possible. During this pandemic, thank you for keeping Ralphs cleaned, organized, and sanitized, while adhering to all COVID-19 safety protocols. All cashier stations have plexiglass, hand sanitizers available, grocery carts sanitized and/or sanitizing spray/wipes available at the entrances to self-wipe and clean. Six feet social distancing stickers on the floor. Grocery bags: Hit and miss - sometimes free, sometimes charged. Since the start of the pandemic, this Ralphs has been my trusty go-to supermarket (along with the Pasadena on Foothill Boulevard and Temple City locations) for majority of my daily essential/non-essential needs and/or items for honoring my family altars (especially, the apples and oranges - fresh and plentiful, thank you, especially, Produce Department!). Also, wanna give a big thanks to the Deli Department for their yummy fried chicken, crispy and delicious as always! I recently lost my credit card and I know that I last used it at Ralphs in South Pasadena. I tried calling them 7 times using the phone number on the receipt and could not get a LIVE person so I went there the next morning. I spoke to a manager and told her about my lost card and about their automated phone system problems. She didn't seem too concerned and I doubt anything will be done about it. read more

Customer service is trash. They don't say you're welcome and avoid eye contact yet joke and are super loud with their co-workers.

COVID EDITION This review is for their drive-up/pickup service. Due to the pandemic, they have waived the online fee of $6.95. I have used their service twice so far and will continue to do so. Order is easily placed through their mobile app or online. There is no minimum. You have the option of allowing substitution or not. If you choose to allow substitution and there is a price difference, Ralph's will adjust it to reflect your original order price. (This has come in handy since various items can become out of stock between the time you place the order and when the shopper actually goes and picks it up.) Also there are online coupons shown for the items so you can save some cash. (For those that have paper coupons, just bring them with you and they will adjust the pricing.) Also the pricing you see in store is the same as the pricing that is displayed on their website/app; there is no markup pricing. There is no additional fee for bags. You are allowed to adjust your order before 11:59pm in case you forgot an item or realized you don't need a certain item anymore. You have an hour time frame to pick up your order. You pull up, call the number listed, and wait for an associate to come out with your order. In comparison to Instacart's Sprout service, Ralph's is lacking. I have done Sprout's pick up service on numerous occasions and they are out and loading your car in under 5 minutes. On both occasions that I have picked up order from Ralphs, it is a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes of wait time. Once they have your order ready, an associate will come out with a face mask (no gloves) and load them into your trunk. And then you're on your way! So how it the grocery? I have many concerns when it comes to online shopping: "What if they don't check the expiration date?" "What if they picked fruits that are overly ripe?" Luckily, there is a section for each item for you to write instructions. I used it on my last order and I was thrilled to see that they followed it exactly! I asked for 3 bananas, they got me 3 bananas. I asked for 4 plums, they got me 4 plums. And none of them were old or bruised. (I have horrible fruit experience when it comes to Sprout's Instacart shopping. There is always bound to be a box of moldy strawberries.) The grapes I had asked for, not even one was smooshed. The tomatoes were firm. I am extremely impressed by this. Good job Ralph's! read more

The cashiers at this location here are trained very well and also considerate. Especially an awesome clerk Trevor who pointed out about my organic strawberry pack which I had not noticed actually had a little mold at the bottom!! Aswell as a blackberry pack that was "iffy" which I thought had checked good enough. I Highly appreciated the info! Definitely didnot want to throw these out when I returned home and bypass my great yogurt/oatmeal breakfasts soon after.
