Probably one of my favorite Ralph's locations in Pasadena. They're one of the few locations that carry two of the greatest candy bars by the cashier section: Hershey's Cookies 'n' Ceeme and Snickers Pecan. The whole staff is always super professional, friendly and helpful. They always have great items on discount and the area is relatively safe, even late at night. 10/10 read more

Dear Pasadena Public Health Department Environmental Health Division, I am writing to formally report a serious health code violation and unsanitary conditions observed at Ralphs Grocery Store, located at 160 N. Lake Ave., Pasadena, CA 91101. Incident Details * Date of Observation: Monday, July 27, 2026 * Time of Observation: Approximately 3:00 PM * Location Inside Store: Self-serve bagel and bread display cabinet Description of the Violation The self-serve bagel and bread display case was teeming with flies. Numerous insects were actively flying inside the cabinet and crawling directly all over the uncovered food products. I have captured clear video evidence documenting this infestation, which is available upon request for your investigation. Public Health Risks and Concerns This environment poses an immediate and severe health risk to consumers for several critical reasons: * Pathogen Transmission: Flies carry over 100 dangerous pathogens. They easily transfer hazardous bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, and Shigella from external waste directly onto the food surfaces. * Direct Contamination: Because flies liquefy solid food, they regurgitate digestive enzymes and defecate on the bakery items. This leaves live bacteria and viruses behind. * Ready-to-Eat Hazards: These items are sold as ready-to-eat foods. Consumers eat them without cooking or heating them first, meaning there is no kill-step to destroy the transferred pathogens. This creates a high probability of foodborne illness. * Prolonged Exposure: The enclosed nature of the display cabinet traps the flies inside, leading to a high concentration of continuous contamination on the food. This active infestation indicates a critical failure in store sanitation, inadequate pest control management, and a clear violation of California retail food safety codes. Please initiate a health inspection of this facility as soon as possible to address this hazard and protect the public. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. read more

They are using self checkout and leaving the registers empty to save money But everything in the store is double or triple the price Now you have to self checkout and pay for the frickin bags. WTF ??? read more

This review is mainly for the lack of checkout cashiers. During rush hour, there was only one lane open moving at a snails pace. I did self checkout but had an issue with an incorrectly priced item and was told I had to see cashier in regular line to resolve the issue. I ended up standing 25 more min in line just to get my refund. If management reads this, please have more lines open during busy times. read more

I called this store earlier this week and the guy that answered the front desk was rude as fuck. I asked a simple question. I was saying to myself wow, he has no customer service at ALL. I asked a simple question about if an item was in stock. His little condescending, rude disrespectful snobby attitude did not help. If that's how you talk to customers then you're in the wrong field, you work with the public. If you don't like your job, you need to quit or get retrained or written up or something. He replied with well, you should have said that at the beginning next time do that, okay? He replied in the most arrogant voice ever. Customer service sure has changed since i've been in it. I didn't know that you're allowed to talk to people like that and still keep your job. Well if anyone's looking for work, I guess this location is the place to apply because obviously employees can talk to customers just any way with no consequences and you can have a smart ass mouth and full of arrogance. Ralphs managers need to be held accountable. Last time I checked without customers that's how you get your paycheck. read more

Lines that are going into the food isles while employees lounge and chat with customers or each other instead of opening up another checkout lane. Terrible service and awareness read more

Store is always well stocked produce seems to be good. Meat department is small and selection of sometimes limited. The biggest negative is Sevice. While all the employees are positive they are often understaffed and it's difficult to find someone for help. read more

Define sh!t show. Ralph's on Lake. Huge lines. Why not hire more people? There is 1 checker and 12 people in his line. 13 if you count the dog that's trying to hump my leg. Always a disaster in here. read more

I went to the meat counter and found an item that was to expire on the next day. I asked if they could discount the item I would buy it today. I was told they cannot discount on demand. I was asking not demanding. When the food expires it must be tossed out. Is Ralphs is the business of selling food or tossing food? I will go elsewhere in the future. read more

Happened again, losing stars for charging me for two bags when I ask for a single bag

This store SHOULD have at least 1 or (2 cashiers depending on how busy) checking out customers in the mornings, NOT EVERYONE wants to use Self checkout! There were no regular lines open due to a call out, so I was told by Jocelyn. One other thing Jocelyn SHOULDN'T BE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE, she was RUDE & KINDA NASTY when I needed help in the Self checkout! She SHOULD just do GO-BACKS all day & STAY AWAY FROM CHECKOUT!! or QUIT!! read more

I always come here for the flowers. The flower lady is very friendly and helpful. Ample private parking. read more

I feel this location is very tight and barely enough room to push a shopping cart through the aisles. I wish the self check out section allowed you to input your phone number versus scanning your membership code on your phones. Not going to lie, the app is a little hard to navigate around. I came here to get items to make for lunch. I didn't try their RTE (ready to eat) foods. read more

I'm talking about the La Canafa store. The Carts are dirty and old there is trash in most of them. The store is dirty. The turntable when you checkout is always wet with who knows with what , you have to ask the checker to wipe it off. Produce scraps all over the floor bins empty. Shelves are very high and products are not brought forward. This Ralph is in a high end neighborhood it looks like it's in a 3rd world country. Who ever is the manager should be fired and the corporate should remold we deserve better. I would rather pay more and go to a clean upscale market than continue to shop at Ralph's very sad I have shopped at this Ralph's since it opened I have watched it go downhill for many years. It has now hot rock bottom . Hopefully management reads these remarks and will look into my complaints and fix the problems. Until they do I will not be shopping there. read more

I have shopped at all the Ralph's in Pasadena and this is the only one where I can go in, shop and be left alone. The employees are just great. Very professional, kind and not rude. Which is not the case in other stores. I don't know how a large store manages to be nice and friendly when it's constantly busy but they do. The Ralph's on Colorado is small and except for a handful of employees they are pretty rude and snobby. There are a lot of homeless at this location but they don't bother anyone. I am happy to buy some food and make sure they get some food. God Bless them. read more

I can see why it has low reviews for staff. I asked for the bathroom code AT the bathroom and I was told to ask the staff at the front. It takes two seconds people come on. read more

Dirty, unsafe, poorly stocked, poorly labeled prices, can't find store people l, even checkout cashiers!...and what REALLY irritated me were customers looking into my basket and right up next to me at the register and commenting on items I was buying as if it were something they had the right to do! Put a sign up "Do NOT rudely comment on someone else's items dejected for purchase!" It's not anyone else's business. We are yet the Soviet Union or have food rations! It is a turn off and a bad experience! The parking lot is disgusting. The clientele is sketchy and the staff know how unsafe this store is! Go to Hastings Ranch or down to Pavillions on Lake! Really unfortunate because this is centrally located. But you shouldn't have to be scrutinized for patronizing this store and worry about the quality of your food as well!!! Ralphs really needs to clean this store up! Another Commi-California nightmare! read more

I would like to thank Mike Forman for helping me out this morning at the self checkout. He was so patient and pleasant, and he even processed my items and digital deals for me. I saved some money today, which is always a plus! Thanks so much Mike. You are awesome!! read more

Have gone a here many times for groceries. Ttoday we needed help with flowers for engagement photos and the flower section person who helped us went above and beyond and gave us a bridal bouquet worth so much more than they charged. Will also come here for any flower needs we have in the future read more

Today I went to the deli at Ralphs on Lake & Walnut to order a sandwich and a salad. The young man behind the counter was incredibly patient with my indecision. He gave me a couple samples and answered all my questions about the possibilities. He deserves an "atta-boy" or whatever you do to reward excellent service to your customers. His nametag said Nico. Please tell him thank you from a customer who appreciated his patience and pleasant attitude! read more

AC is on blast in here so bring a jacket if you will be here for more than 15 min! Parking is plenty but I also would suggest parking closer to the store. Seems to be a lot of homeless people walking in the parking lot and nearby. This Ralphs has a big selection of food items to magazines. You should be able to find what you are looking for in the store. They also have a big selection of flowers too! read more

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my groceries from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is pretty big. Some parking spots are smaller than others. Be very careful where you park. Store & Staff: The store itself is very clean, neat, organized, and tidy. The staff here are very friendly and fast. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum. read more

I come here everyday and the staff here are all generally very friendly which is hard to do when they have to deal with so many homeless people coming in and out of the store. Everyone is nice except the store manager, Linda, she is rude and not willing to help a customer. I asked her for help and she didn't even bother walking me to the aisle because apparently it was way on the other side of the store. Total witch who wouldn't help with pricing items correctly. read more

This Ralph's is not a good one. Their selection of various products are limited and quite a few items that all/any major chain store should carry , they do not have. I had my cart filled with a few things and when I looked for my last item , they don't even carry it at all. I admit that this really upset me as it wasted my time and I just left the cart with all the other stuff in some aisle and left the store and went to another store altogether where they had everything that I needed. The arrangement and labeling of the aisles are not good (it's almost like walking through a maze). For example, items that one would expect to be in the baking goods aisle, could be anywhere. There's also the oddest cordoned off area just behind the produce section, staffed with someone who actually monitors the area. Speaking of the produce area, it's often understocked or runs out quickly in certain items. This store prefers that customers use self check out (of course, so there can be less 'employed' staff). There are so few staff around, out on the floor, that there's no one available to ask questions of (if need be). This location does have a Starbucks inside also. read more

Pros: 1. Convenient machines! I just discovered that they have a handy machine to duplicate keys, and more importantly a DMV machine if you forgot to get your registration sticker (you can pay with credit card and get the official sticker instantly) - way better than going to the actual DMV or even AAA and lining up for hours. They also have a Coinstar machine but I have not used this one yet. 2. Access from the front or back parking lot. 3. Store is pretty big with lots of selection. Cons: 1. Prices are expensive 2. Self-serve checkout is not intuitive to use and lines are slow read more

In a world of grumpy people, we need more people like Genero in it. He was the kindest, most helpful and refreshing person I've met in a very long time. I'm so happy I went to check out in his line. AWFUL ROTTEN MEAT ( LEG OF LAMB, LAMB CHOPS, LAMB SHANK) AVOID Be forwarded AVOID buying any meat at this Ralph Supermarket [160 N Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101] , especially Lamb meat. For the third times I unknowingly purchased ROTTEN Lamb, from Lamb Shank, Leg of Lamb and Lam chops. My family was planning to have lamb couscous diner with my in -Law, when I got home after work, my Wife noticed the leg of lamb was decomposed releasing an awful stench. The funny thing is this was not the First time. For the third time the lamb I purchased was rotten. We ended up using chicken instead a very disappointing indeed. When I took the leg of lamb back the next day, the manager or assist would initially refund my account. Worse yet the lamb was discounted from $69 to $46 , which meant they must have known the meat was rotten . They discounted anyway for public to be purchased at a discount . Never again would buy MEAT from RALPH on [ 160 N Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101 or any other for that matter poor customer service, POOR Management, and decomposed meat. The meat looks Fresh - however when you removed it from the plastic wrap , an awful rotten stench is released . DO NOT EAT , DO NOT BUY RETURN IT FOR FULL REFUND. AVOID AT ALL COST read more

I just moved back to Pasadena a couple a weeks ago from Covina. Every time I went to this Ralph's when visiting Pasadena, I saw how much I miss it! I always liked the infrastructure of the store and using my Ralph's Card. Since moving back I shopped there about 5 times already. Happy the store is still thriving here in Pasadena. read more

I visit this store often but had a bad visit today because of the restroom policy put in place by manager Linda. I'm a senior man and ask several staff members for the code to use the restroom. They said someone would have to come and let me into the restroom but they couldn't give me a code because of a new policy. I had to stop shopping because I had to leave to go use the restroom. They told me the manager Linda was out of the store when I asked to speak with her. read more

Ralphs - Security won't let people out so we can't get in. How ridiculous!!! - Grocery Near Me - Pasadena, California

Came here at around 10pm on a Monday night and wanted to grab a few groceries. In the 20 minutes I was here, I saw probably half the staff not wearing masks or not wearing it above their noses. And several patrons were walking around maskless and socializing with employees. I've seen better masking practices in OC so I really expected better from Pasadena, but there was really no enforcement of masking. Hilariously a speaker went off at 10pm to announce that staff should clean their stations and wash their hands. This is an airborne virus and these hand washing practices should've existed prior so it doesn't instill much confidence in Ralph's guidelines. I get this pandemic has been long and masking for hours can be uncomfortable, but it's ridiculous during a surge for everyone to be so lax. Going to avoid this grocery store and on Monday night, their shelves are pretty much empty to begin with. read more

Asshole manager. I saw him today tell an elderly woman to clean the floor, pointing really haughtily. She didn't even cause the spill. I saw someone else cause the spill. self check out female service worker, right now 5/8 10:35am has no common sense. She has a line of people waiting to check out, while a customer asks about her kids in the middle of the walking path preventing others from getting around them. Meanwhile if your at the opposite end of the plastic bags and you ask for her help to get a bag (politely) she'll tell you, "sure they're over there." as in get it yourself, and continue to talk with customer. I sensed a bit of rudeness and when I was leaving had to assert myself for her to 'move' so I could walk out. ‍ Not sure what her problem today was, hot and cold personality type. Got my things, paid, and left. read more

Boost with free delivery HAH! What a waste of time. 1) Always out of stock. Poor substitutions. 2) Delivery person gets lost. How can this be in area code 91105? 10min from the store itself? So I wait and wait and wait. What a BUMMER! Will cancel and just drive to the store. Yes, I have a senior's bad back and thought delivery would would reduce stress, physical and mental. But NO! 01/27/2019 Coming here late at night means less people. Also means no one knows how to park. I figured there has to be cameras in the liquor and medicine areas but I guess you need a camera in the diapers and soda/drinks aisles too. Taking a stroll down each aisle is like an adventure. I just needed one can so the layout is different than what I have seen. The produce area seems neat and tidy. Some of it isn't so fresh looking and some of it is ok. I saw these two guys asking one another if these steaks look alright. The steak I saw them holding looks worse than a guy that is holding a black eye. I don't understand why that would have been put out for sale. read more

I try to avoid this store because of its chronically poor customer service. Today I stopped by on my way home from the gym and it did not disappoint. Almadelia was rude, dismissive, and came short of calling me a liar when I told her a certain item was on sale (even when I showed her a pic I had taken of the sale tag). She allowed the line to back up, insisting that I find it on the app (the app which never works) and finally gave in after I showed her the pic for the fourth time. She stood there and watched me load my own groceries without lifting a finger, again making other customers wait. When I asked her to help speed things along, she crossed her arms and stared at me. Guess not. All this to say, looks like I'll be sticking with Trader Joe's in the future. They know what good customer service is! read more

On a Wednesday evening in January, I stopped by to pick up something for dinner. The parking lot didn't look too busy. I was browsing in the bakery area and seen people with clearance stuff in their carts. I followed my eyes to butcher area and I seen a cart of Pacifica brand chicken broth on clearance.50 cents and expires end of March 2021. They also had cart of various spices $1.50 and bag of chocolates of Hershey brand. Then I noticed a cart of tomato soup progresso brand .50 cents. I only bought 6 cartons of chicken broth that I could carry in my hand. I forgot look for dinner items since I got side track of chicken broth. read more
