Today I went to Vons to do my usual shopping. As I exited the elevators I saw these awful anti-theft gates recently installed. Annoyed, I proceeded to do my shopping. While checking out I watched a manger circumvent these stalwart gates by lightly pushing one side which set off a piercingly loud alarm. I finished my transaction in which I paid $125 for three bags of groceries (no meat, no booze). It then dawned on me that this Vons wants it both ways - treat its customers like thieving trash but expect us to pay Beverly Hills prices. They upset me when they removed the handles from the bags but this is the final straw for me. I won't be patronizing Vons until those useless gates are removed. There are too many other equally expensive options now that value their customers. read more

This is my go-to grocery store because it's conveniently close to my home. I love bonds sometimes though the lines can be long or if they don't have enough cashier so it makes it sometimes difficult to get an In-N-Out quick parking is always sometimes also too hard to part due to the fact, they have a small lot in the front even though they have multiple parking in the back in the parking lot overall though they have good sales and prices the atmosphere is cool and the service is great. Great prices on food. read more

This place has the worst customer service. I came around 5 PM and I wanted to purchase flowers and balloons and I needed assistance and there was nobody there so I asked one of the cashiers if they could call somebody. I waited for 10 minutes until I went back to ask for help and they told me well I called twice and if nobody's there then there's nobody there. I took myself out of there and won't be getting my flowers or anything from this place. Management needs to work on customer service. read more

DONT DO IT. This store is ran by its employees. Management is absent 24/7. They REFUSE to order merchandise and laugh at customers who make requests that weekly ad items are available and in stock. There are a few employees who are helpful and polite, but they don't work every day. The employees are trying to shut this store down like they did to the Pasadena Pavilions. Is corporate paying attention? I don't think so. read more

This location has THE WORST management I have ever experienced. There is a Caucasian night supervisor that is absolutely terrible. He is rude, condescending and argues with customers. I was there yesterday evening and some shrimp that were on sale were ringing up much higher than advertised price. When I finally got his attention, he kept bypassing my blinking light, he accused me of getting the wrong bags of shrimp so I showed him the ad on my app. Even after showing him, he kept saying it was showing a different price on his scanner. No, really? Of course it is. It's a sale so therefore the system should be able to adjust automatically to the sale price. He then proceeds to tell me someone MUST have used my phone number earlier. I'm like that is impossible and he just kept arguing with me. He is very rude, and definitely does not stand for what Vons prides itself on which is customer service. Vons NEEDS to remove people like this man from such a position. It makes long time customers not ever want of shop there again. He is openly racist as he was accusing me and another Hispanic lady of trying to scam the store. Instead of trying to rectify the situation and look into it, he jumps to conclusions and is very dismissive of customers. Oh and the icing on top, he had a stack of the shrimp someone else previously left for which I can only imagine was the same reason. Vons PLEASE do better. read more

I'm a neighbor to this Vons and make weekly if not daily visits. If you're shopping this Vons for the first time please know that this is a high volume high traffic Vons, but the location is beautiful and the inventory is plentiful. In the distant past, wait times have been long and dreadful, especially if you're a mom with kids. As of late the team has been swift and kind. There's been a noticable improvement to customer service. It was good before now it's great! I want to especially shoutout to Alison who, today, took initiative and helped disperse multiple long lines into the self-check out while STILL helping lost customers, questions and co workers. She showed great leadership, quickness and kindness throughout what seemed like a high pressure situation for the store. Awesome job Alison! We appreciate you! read more

This Vons is one of the best grocery stores around. The prices seem fair and the service that I've received has always been friendly. If I have a hard time finding an item, I've been able to find a staff member to help me find it. They have a wide selection of choices on most of their products. I enjoy walking through all the fresh fruits and vegetables that are on display. If you want organic they have it! I like their large fresh deli section which includes a sushi bar. The aromas from the deli will definitely make you hungry! They have a large selection of fresh made salads and soups of every combination imaginable ...very convenient. They have a great wine, beer, and liquor area. Most aisles are wide enough for two carts With the great selection of regular grocery items, there is a butcher available, as well as a fresh seafood area. The flower shop has fresh cut flowers and potted plants. There is a Starbucks near the front entrance. Elevators are available to the parking lot upstairs. There is ground level parking, which can be very crowded at times. Fast checkout with self-service machines. You can also check out through a regular line. I really enjoy shopping at this excellent Vons store, located on the corner of Sierra Madre Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard. read more

I'm going to miss this store and this area altogether. I like this Vons a lot and stop by whenever I need something quick before going to work. The store is very clean, as well as the restrooms. Everyone I've ever encountered here is super welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Back home, I don't really shop at Vons since it's more on the pricey side and I typically prefer to buy in bulk to be cost efficient. However, they do have good deals if you have the app so make sure to take advantage of that!! read more

I like this Vons because of the size and selection of items, but they have got to have more than TWO cashiers at the front. Can you guys stop selling old/spoiled food. It's so annoying and inconvenient. I bought apples recently and they looked fine on the outside but when I cut them they were dark and soggy. Disgusting. Also the potatoes are always rotten when I open the bag. That is just wrong. read more

Don't go here unless you want to be yelled at by May (Asian woman at the self checkout). She yelled at me loudly in front of everyone because I had removed the corn husks (there was a box by the corn). She said once I remove the husks they cannot be returned and put back on the shelf. First all, I wouldn't return corn, second, is she saying that Vons puts returned produce back on the shelf, third, she should be working in the back because she has absolutely no customer service skills. Instead of helping me, she was looking for things to pick on me from my cart. She is the reason why I avoid this Vons. read more

There is a male supervisor named Jeff I believe. He is rude & treats you like you know nothing.

I like the cleanliness and the good deals sometimes but you won't find the best deals because this is Pasadena. lol They have a nice wine section which is unique. Vons please listen: What is a HUGE disappointment is how they dumbed and cheapened and shrank the O Organics Spring Mix. Not only has the tub become smaller, but the selection of lettuce is really disappointing because it is so cheap. You get nothing but baby spinach and rough leaves. I stopped buying this stuff. read more

Honestly, the saddest vons for customer service. They hate customers or helping customers! This location is a complete disaster. Let's start with the Starbucks. You want a coffee or breakfast sandwich or pastry in the morning and want your morning ruined - Go here to this Starbucks! Slow service, rude service, and seriously not enough staff to support making lattes and food. Next up Deli, omg the women hate working in the deli they hate making you a sandwich, they hate helping you with anything. One older woman takes seriously 45 min of your lunch break to slice meat and prepare a simple sandwich. Then let's go to the Floral Department they are all lazy and say you can't check out at that register. Liars indeed, I've bought multiple things in floral. The DM needs to look into this location. read more

CONSUMERS BEWARE OF VONS PRICE GOUGING. I would not even give Vons a ONE Star rating, but it's the lowest you can provide. Make sure to review you receipts. 9 out of 10 times you DO NOT receive the "Vons Club Card" price at the register because the lower price has not been entered into their computer system and the pricing is ALWAYS in Vons favor. I have contacted their corporate office and had little satisfaction. There are plenty of other grocery stores close to Vons that we should be shopping at including Trader Joe's, Ralphs and Whole Foods. I have never had this issue at these other stores and I will no longer be shopping at Vons and I have deleted their app from my phone. Their fried chicken is pretty good when it's fresh. I think six o'clock is the perfect time to buy it. It costs between $5.99 to $10.99. You can make fried rice the next day with the leftovers. Sometimes I get there around 7:30. I use the chicken to make fried rice. My husband and my kids love it. It's perfect with day old, been in the fridge, or just has been sitting around rice. One cup cooked rice, three to four scrambled eggs, three to four shredded fried chicken, a teaspoon of salt, and a tablespoon of soy sauce. Make scrambled eggs, add shredded chicken, stir, sprinkle salt, add rice, and then add soy sauce. It takes about five minutes to make. Still good when you microwave it the next day at home or at work. If you like the brown bread from Cheesecake Factory, they have a sandwich for it. Again, their sandwiches are a great deal. They have upstairs parking when the parking on the ground floor gets busy. read more

Asked for a Tri Tip yesterday. The employee had to go to the back to get one and when he came back it was over 5 lbs (much larger than a normal Tri Tip). It was busy so did not bother complaining at the time but when I got home the meat was completely untrimmed and had over a pound of a half of excess fat on it. They took no care at all to make sure the meat was cut and trimmed correctly. The check out lines are very long. Only two cashiers working more than 50 people in line. Ridiculous

I stopped by this morning to order a sandwich and was helped by a lady named Delia. The experience left me very uneasy about the food safety at this Vons. Delia came over wearing the same gloves she already had on, cut my bread, placed the meat and cheese, and put it to toast. While it was toasting, she went to help another customer in the hot food section, serving food and touching the computer -- then came right back to finish my sandwich without changing her gloves. When I asked her to change them, she walked to the back where she couldn't be seen, then returned with one glove already on and another in hand before continuing. As someone who works in the medical field, I'm very aware of sanitation guidelines, and this was extremely concerning to witness. Vons really needs to train their employees better and hold them accountable for following proper food handling and hygiene practices. I ended up not eating my sandwich , it felt like a complete waste of money and made me question the cleanliness of the deli overall. read more

They close the self checkout at 9:30 some nights and at least by 10:00. So the lines after 10:00 are long because they are understaffed. Closing the self checkout early serves THEM and not their customers (who pay their salaries). It's selfish is ridiculous. Most people shopping late are coming from work and don't want to stand in a line 10 people deep and everyone is pissed off. Do your job and leave a couple open. You can actually save yourself the grief of angry customers, even though you may have to work a few precious minutes longer to close... read more

I had a very sad experience today with my Mother. We were in line for Starbucks after and I needed to place my own order after she placed hers, but the girl tried to ignore me. She definitely has an attitude the manger was called and everything resolved. However, no apology was given for the disrespectful acción. No apply was offered and she is the crazy one. Manager was told by me "No wonder your store has 3 stars" hopefully things are different next time. The store was very clean and close to my sister's school. I hope they were as dedicated with the costumer service. The worst costumer service. We order drinks and there's a new drink ( blue coco) I asked what was the blue and she said she doesn't know what the blue drink has. In my opinion she should know. However, when I needed to order something else so I could pay the other order, she tried to not take the order. I was in line so I found that disrespectful and the manager was brought by her. The manager was able to have her place my order but she definitely doesn't have good costumer service and I was called names by her and no apology was offered even in front of the manger she is very entitled. read more

I reviewed this store a year ago with the same complaints. They have not improved the staffing at all. I like the selection they have but I don't like the wait to check out. The worst thing is not enough baggers so it always takes forever to get through the process. I live close to Stater Bros and they don't have as good of a selection but their check out is way better. More checkers open and every one has a bagger so it's faster. Also, Trader Joe's is always quick and easy. Why can't Vons hire more staff? read more

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my groceries from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is massive. Lots of parking spots for you to choose from. Take your pick. However, beware of some small and tight spots. Store & Staff: The store itself is large. It is also very clean, neat, tidy, and organized. The aisles are pretty wide for two carts to pass by each other. Everything is organized in a way that makes sense. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. I'd like to see some improvements at this location starting with the price point here is over priced on its products. Vons is charging more than other name brand stores that offer better quality food for a more reasonable cost. The parking upon entering the lot at street level is difficult in its grid layout the traffic goes against the flow causing higher chance of collisions. I have shopped in store and have used the grocery store shopping service and have found countless complexities to simple solutions. For starters there was a time that I was shopping during the checkout the cashier kept telling the customers that he was only taking card he repeated this more times than necessary and more importantly he yelled the entire time it was startling but more importantly unpleasant. He did not appear to have a disability but in the case that he did I recommend that he gets the support he needs to train and teach him how to work with others in a respectful manner. His decorum was in severe lack. Now regarding the Instacart in-store order there has been multiple orders that we have made and every time there has been an error rather they get the quantity amount wrong, missing the item entirely or not replacing it with what was requested. read more

Vons is one of the more expensive grocery stores, but it does have offerings the others don't have. It has a rather impressive wine selection, and I really love the deli/cheese selections. It also has a Starbucks inside. So, this review is really for the self-checkout. I came on a Friday night and got all of my groceries in a short time. I went to the self-checkout and there was a problem with the machine. I tried to wave down the attendant and she was busy with someone else so I patiently waited. When she was done, I hoped she would come over to my section to help since I only needed her to fix the screen so I can pay and leave. For whatever reason, she just completely ignored me and helped everyone else. I decided to take my groceries and go through the regular checkout and I was in and out in no time. I frequent this Vons so it was the first time I had a Vons worker be so STANK at the checkout. The other Vons workers were friendly and helpful so I don't know what her issue was. I found my grain free chips, sugar free chocolate and bacon, and all the organic stuff I wanted. I was even excited to find a full variety of Frank's Hot Sauce. Of course when I got to checkout, there was only on line open and then the self checkout. They did eventually open a second line but only when there were six carts in line.
