While a neighboring "famous" Armenian store is not very friendly, small, and always crowded, Pasadena marketplace is the opposite: They have more choices for Midle Eastern groceries lined up in a bright and organized fashion.Everything is neat and get their special lahmajoun from Pamos bakery daily. I needed some shelled walnuts, Aleppo pepper and red pepper paste for a " muhamara". They had everything, gave me a pack of lahmajoun with a smile. 5 stars all the way.

They remodeled the old store beautifully. Parking is crazy. Be careful pulling out. Please be patient with the cashier, her English is a bit rough. I thought she was being rude because I was talking and talking and she just stared at me. I finally figured it out when I was paying.( Oops) Anyway, I used to come to the old market for the fancy mixed nuts. They prepackaged them now which I don't like because 2 bags is too much and one isn't enough. Still, great prices. Very nice, I'm really happy they reopened

You go in, pick the raw skewers you want from their huge selection, and they pack everything fresh for you. They've got a wide variety of meats and marinades, so it's easy to mix and match and try different flavors in one meal. Everything looks fresh and well seasoned, and once you get it on the grill it gives you that legit street BBQ skewer feel at home. It's perfect for gatherings or a weekend cookout because all the hard work is already done for you. The only downside is the price. It adds up pretty quickly, especially when you start grabbing multiple skewers because there are so many good options. Definitely more of a special occasion or group meal type of place rather than an everyday buy. Still, for the quality, convenience, and the variety they offer, it's a really fun and unique spot when you're craving skewers and want something different from the usual.

For the beef tongue, they can cut it to whichever thickness you prefer. At first, I didn't know how thick it should be and the cashier busted out a ruler to make sure I would be happy with the cut. They are always so friendly and helpful! If you place your order as a walk in, they have a bench inside for you to wait or to shop around their small selection of hot pot/grilling goods. You can also place an order over the phone for easy pick up.

It's not "fake" American wagyu that's barely prime grade either--the marbling is a perfect balance between the richness of Australian/Japanese wagyus and a regular prime. The staff here are generally friendly and very helpful, and work hard to get you what you want. The only issue I've had over the years was one of the older guys behind the counter charging us for something much more expensive than what we actually asked for, and we had to drive all the way back to get a refund. Not sure what the deal was since we ran into him when getting the refund and he seemed annoyed rather than apologetic lol. But! Aside from that, everyone's great. When they're busy, grab a number from the corner and they'll call. There's a great selection in the case of just about every type of meat including fresh seafood. Bought a slab of Icelandic cod today as well because it looked so nice. If you order a lot, they'll ring you up in the back, otherwise they'll let you bring it to the front checkout to pay.

You get the sense they actually enjoy talking shop and helping people find what they need. If I had to split hairs, the POS system feels a bit dated, and having one more register open during busy moments would smooth things out. I keep saying I'm a vegetarian, but I bought 6 chicken mole, 4 chicken with green sauce, and a bunch of chile cheese, bean and cheese, spinach and cheese!
